He began by clarifying that he is a fan of Lamar and means no disrespect before going after JAY-Z.

“I love Kendrick Lamar, I loved the pop-out,” Cam started. “I think he’s one of the top artists of this generation, period. Hate the selection. It’s in New Orleans, and you don’t get Lil Wayne? Lil Wayne had a problem with somebody before who’s kinda part of the organization running it. This is payback,” he stated. After Mase chimed in to note Wayne and Drake’s connection, Cam added: “Bro, it’s ridiculous…Lil Wayne not to be performing in New Orleans for the Super Bowl is egregious, and it gotta stop.” JAY-Z and Roc Nation are serving as strategic entertainment advisors for the performance. Lil Wayne's Engineer Reacts to Super Bowl Rules: 'Confused. Dissapointed. Angry.'

Kendrick Lamar’s selection as the Super Bowl halftime performer has rubbed members of the Hip-Hop community the wrong way. Many believe it should have been Lil Wayne, including Wayne’s engineer, Marasciullo.

“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all, inspired,” Marasciullo wrote. “Will never again be in a position or have the 🐐 in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions.”

Kendrick Lamar will take center stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025. Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL made the announcement today, sparking excitement for the globally anticipated performance.

Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, founder of Roc Nation, praised Lamar’s influence: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision… His impact will be felt for years to come.”

Seth Dudowsky, Head of Music at the NFL, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar… Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”

Apple Music’s Oliver Schusser emphasized the excitement: “Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the absolutely incomparable Kendrick Lamar, to fans worldwide with Apple Music’s industry-leading Spatial Audio quality.”

Lamar, a Grammy and Emmy-winning artist and co-founder of pgLang, continues to redefine hip-hop, earning accolades like a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN. and his chart-topping collaborations earlier this year.

Lil Wayne Performing At Super Bowl LIX Would Be A “Big Mistake,” Art Director Argues

Art Director Shaun Harrison says it’d be the “biggest mistake ever” to have Lil Wayne headline the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Claiming to have “worked with” Wayne before on a Grammy performance in the past, he explained why he feels the hometown artist would be the wrong choice in a post on social media. The take comes after the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar will be headlining the event on Sunday.

“I’ve ‘worked with’ Lil Wayne before for Grammy performance and personal feelings that would be the biggest mistake ever putting him as the headliner for the biggest performance of the year The Super Bowl,” Harrison wrote. “He showed up to zero rehearsals we didn’t even think he would make the performance then last minute he was in the building and ran on stage for the performance and ran off back into oblivion lol. Never even got to meet him after week of rehearsals for a show. Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest rap performers ever and unapologetically black in his message and it’s during black history month, it’s going to be a spectacle!” In a follow-up post on his Instagram Story, Harrison further argued: “Not to mention Dr. Dre is the only to be from the state the Super Bowl is in… so the argument is moot, that’s never been a prerequisite.”

Even Master P came out and said he deserves to be recognized. “As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans I have to agree with the fans that Lil Wayne should be a part of this celebration as well,” he wrote online. “He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here. #Godisgood Change starts with us.”

Rihanna Shows Love To Kendrick Lamar After Super Bowl Halftime Show Announcement

Rihanna showed her support for Kendrick Lamar on Instagram on Sunday by liking his announcement that he’ll be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Rihanna previously served as the headliner in 2023 for Super Bowl LVII. In the announcement video, Lamar trolled his ongoing rival, Drake, by referencing his recent comments about preparing for a “Game 2.” He remarked: “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship — no round twos.”

The NFL is putting on the Halftime Show with the help of JAY-Z and Roc Nation. In a statement about the decision, JAY said: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. The reaction to Lamar taking the headlining spot in the show hasn’t been entirely positive. Many fans have been complaining that Lil Wayne wasn’t invited, considering the game is taking place in his hometown of New Orleans. Even Master P came out on social media to suggest the league should find a way to incorporate him into the show. DJ Akademiks has also been ranting about the situation on X (formerly Twitter). In doing so, he’s accused JAY-Z of colluding to disrespect Drake and help Lamar create another event similar to The Pop Out.

Jay-Z Issued A Statement Of Support After Kendrick Lamar Was Announced As The Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show Performer

Apple Music Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show is already facing backlash. Today (September 8), Kendrick Lamar was announced as the show’s featured performer. Given the chart-topping year Kendrick has had and his victory in the Drake beef, you’d think the public would rally behind the choice. However, this not the case for one understandable reason—its location.

Next year, the big game is heading to New Orleans. Based on the alone hip-hop heads assumed Lil Wayne was a sure in, which included his longtime engineer Fabian Marasciullo. Well, not Jay-Z. Thanks to his role as the NFL’s music strategist and the Roc Nation partnership with the league, he’s opinion far outweighs the public. In a statement, Jay-Z stood by Kendrick Lamar’s selection.

“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” he said. “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Jay-Z isn’t alone. Former Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner, Rihanna, subtly showed her support by liking Kendrick’s reveal post on Instagram.

Contrarily, Master P agreed with users online’s sentiments urging that Lil Wayne be considered for the slot.

“As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans I have to agree with the fans that Lil Wayne should be a part of this celebration as well,” he wrote. “He’s one of the greatest hip-hop artists alive, still relevant and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here.”

The show isn’t set until February 2025, so this saga is far from over.

Usually this early into the NFL season, diehard football fanatics debate which team will go all the way. Well, this year things are a bit different. Instead of sports fans nearly coming to blows over their favorite franchise, it is the music fans popping off.

Today (September 8), Kendrick Lamar announced that he would perform at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. While users online, including Lil Wayne’s longtime engineer Fabian Marasciullo, weren’t a fan of his selection, he did receive one notable co-sign. Over on Instagram, Rihanna showed her support of Kendrick Lamar by liking his reveal post (viewable here).

As the record-breaking headliner for Super Bowl 2023, Rihanna knows a thing or two about the football’s biggest stage. Still, users online are not buckling from their stance.

Many pointed about that the coveted show tapped Usher for Super Bowl 2024’s Halftime Show following his groundbreaking dominance in Las Vegas. Since, Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans, Lil Wayne should’ve been selected for the slot. Back February, during an appearance on YG and Stevie’s 4HUNNID podcast, Lil Wayne made it crystal clear that he would be down if asked. He also expressed how sentimental the moment would be giving that NOLA is his hometown and where his career started by way of the Hot Boys.

Tony Hale Joked That His Appearance In Beyoncé’s Super Bowl Commercial Earned Him Some ‘Cool Dad’ Points

Tony Hale has had a mighty successful acting career. In fact, the actor stars in Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2, which is currently showing in theaters. However, none of this has quite impressed Hale’s daughter.

Yesterday (June 14), during an appearance on The Talk, Hale confessed that he found a way to earn some cool points with the help of Beyoncé.

To help kick off the Cowboy Carter rollout, the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer partnered with Verizon, for an internet-breaking Super Bowl LVIII commercial.

When asked by host Sheryl Underwood about keeping the secret from his certified Beyhive member daughter, Hale shared how hard it was. “So [when] I got this gig, I was like, ‘This is so cool,’” he said. “But I had to sign [some paperwork] so I couldn’t say anything. But my daughter had just been to Beyoncé’s [Renaissance] concert. Usually is super bored by what I do. She doesn’t care, and I had that [one thing] and I couldn’t say it. So she had to wait to see it on the Super Bowl.”

He then went on to reveal the exchange they had after the commercial aired. “I was out of town, unfortunately,” he said. “But she texted me and was like, ‘Dad?’ So I texted her an emoji of a bee. And I was like, ‘Yeah. I got it.’”

All About Bruno Mars’s New Vegas Cocktail Bar The Pinky Ring

Bruno Mars has officially opened his own cocktail bar and jazz lounge, The Pinky Ring, with an explosive opening weekend party. The room within the Bellagio bar reportedly accommodates the global superstar as he continues his long-running Las Vegas residency. The Pinky Ring opened over Super Bowl weekend, with a star-studded lineup of attendees including Janelle Monáe, Gayle King, Lady Gaga, T-Pain, and many others. Opening night also featured live music from Bruno Mars and his in-house band The Hooligans. With a vast audience spanning millions across the globe, it is inevitable that fans will eagerly gravitate towards the breathtaking new locale, meticulously crafted under the direction and supervision of Bruno Mars himself. Here’s what we know so far about The Pinky Ring.

The Bar Has Replaced The Lily Lounge

The Lily Lounge was once a Las Vegas institution, first opened in 2012 by American entrepreneur Andrew Sasson, and funded by Sasson’s investment company The Light Group. Despite Lily’s popularity, the locale had grown stale in recent years and was in desperate need of a redesign. Luckily, The Pinky Ring is much more than a bare-bones reskin, as the venue has been completely overhauled with mellow tones and center-stage lighting, VIP champagne rooms, and a host of inspired interior decorations.

For a more personal touch, Bruno Mars has adorned the hallways of The Pinky Ring with his own Grammy awards. This impressive feat should come as no surprise, as Mars has accumulated a dozen of the achievements throughout his illustrious career. Earth-toned conversation pits and wood-paneled walls allow for an intensely personal vibe by the bar, which holds a warm penthouse-style aesthetic, perfect for those looking to engage in a memorable party reminiscent of classic Hollywood parties and entertainment industry mixers.

A mix of musical guests have christened the stage so far, though most nights see Mars’s close collaborators The Hooligans headlining in the club. A revolving door of DJs and special guest stars are also on pace to take the circular stage at The Pinky Ring to provide a funkadelic dance groove to all attendees lucky enough to get inside. The lounge also offers specialty cocktails named after members of the in-house band, making the drink menu incredibly familiar to long-time fans of Mars’ work.

The Venue Does Not Allow Cell Phones

In keeping with its retro-groovy aesthetic, The Pinky Ring does not allow cell phones or cameras inside the venue at any time. This helps to preserve the mystique and exclusivity of the space while also offering a private and memorable event for those inside, allowing patrons to fully live in the moment. This no-phones-allowed policy is shared with Bruno Mars’ other performances and live shows at the Park MGM, so it should come as no surprise to fans who have seen him perform there in the last year or so.

The rule also exists to obfuscate the many celebrity guests likely to attend parties and events at The Pinky Ring. As you can surely guess, many A-listers enjoy having the option to let loose in the venue without a constant barrage of flashing cameras in their face. Of course, the rule doesn’t seem incredibly strict, as some cell phone footage from inside the venue has already made its way online.

The Pinky Ring Is Open For Business

For those of you who just can’t resist a hyper-funky retro party, The Pinky Ring is currently open seven days a week. Like many Las Vegas clubs, the venue operates on night hours, offering you the ability to sleep in during your Vegas vacation, enjoy the spa, and grab brunch before committing to dancing the night away alongside Bruno Mars and The Hooligans.

The venue is within the Bellagio and opens at 5 p.m. every night. The Pinky Ring closes at 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Though you may not be able to get any photographs on the inside, the memories formed within the exclusive bar will surely last a lifetime.
