Stephen A. Smith Puts Caleb Martin On Blast

Caleb Martin has become the face of the Miami Heat’s playoff run this year. People have latched onto the story of the guy who went from being cut by the Hornets to starting for the Heat. Furthermore, the central part that rapper J. Cole played in proceedings only fueled people’s passion for it.

Additionally, Martin has played a vital role in the Heat’s playoff run. He averaged nearly 20 points a game in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. Furthermore, he averaged 11.2 and 10.5 points per game against the Bucks and Knicks respectively. However, Martin has so far been unable to replicate that success against the Nuggets. Through three games, he’s averaging just 5.3 points on 26 minutes a night. Furthermore, the Heat find themselves down 2-1 in the series and still missing Tyler Herro for at least another game. Now Martin is getting heat from the media.

Smith Roasts Martin

Speaking on First Take, Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back about Martin. “Where the hell are you? … He has been a virtual no-show in these Finals,” Smith asked of Martin. Martin played 32 minutes in the Heat’s 109-94 Game 3 loss. Despite the extensive floor time, his most in the Finals so far, Martin had another quiet performance. He put up 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, and 2 steals. He went 4-for-9 from the field and 2-for-5 from three.

If the Heat wants to stand any chance of taking down the Nuggets, Martin and the rest of the Heat bench really need to step up. Through three games, the Heat’s bench has scored 28.9% (86 of 298) of the Heat’s points. Martin has contributed just 16 of those points. That is a lot of scoring pressure to put on the starting five. By comparison, the Nuggets’ limited bench tactic has netted them 49 points during the series so far. Despite these struggles, the Heat will attempt to even the series in Friday’s Game 4. Stephen A. Smith Calls Zion Williamson A “Man Child”

On the scale of “heartwarming memory you’ll treasure forever” to “burning down a national park”, the gender-reveal party for Zion Williamson’s daughter was pretty bad. Sure, it was a touching and sweet moment for Williamson and the mother to-be, Ahkeema. But it was immediately derailed by a salacious Twitter thread from musician and OnlyFans model Moriah Mills.

Mills claimed that she and Williamson have been an item for sometime, hooking up as recently as last week. Furthermore, Mills claimed that Williamson is paying for her to move to New Orleans, where currently plays in the NBA.“I warned you about trapping type hoes @Zionwilliamson and you didn’t listen to me I know the game f**k u and congrats again,” Mills wrote to Zion Williamson. “The bill was too high so you had to scrap for crumbs when you couldn’t see me or I was busy.” She then went on to go off some more. “I motivated u to get back in shape I let you fuck me all kinds of ways and film me on your phone @Zionwilliamson and you impregnate a low budget pornstar dna test or I’m done !!!!!!!” she wrote on Twitter.

Stephen A. Smith Weighs In On Zion Williamson

Of course, Stephen A. Smith wasn’t going to stay away from this one. The veteran broadcaster took to his evening show to give some hard truths to Williamson. “Where am I going?” Smith asked after recapping the situation. “Man, you only played 29 games last year and you missed the season before that. What the hell is taking you so long to get healthy? Well, now I know. You’re young, you’re not married, you can do what you want to do. It’s a damn shame she’s putting your stuff out there like that, need to cancel her. But there’s another issue here…You know, I’ve been waiting a long time for the injury to heal, to cure, Zion. And I’ve been waiting a while. Team been waiting for a while.”

He continued. “I mean damn bro! No wonder you ain’t healthy. I’m talking ’bout your legs. We need those legs spry. We need you bench press with your big self, we need you bench pressing about 400lbs. And we need you running up and down that court. He’s a man child, but you can’t get healthy. Your lower extremities……..were compromised.” Williamson is one of the great disappointments of the past few years. After being drafted in 2019, Williamson has played in just 114 games. He missed the entirety of the 2021/22 season and he has failed to hit 30 games in two of the three seasons he has played in. This latest scandal is only going to energize the claims that Williamson was a bust who is simply not built for the NBA.

Stephen A. Smith Encourages Damian Lillard To Leave Portland

Damian Lillard has been the cornerstone of the Portland Trail Blazers for over a decade. A rare four-year collegiate player, Lillard was drafted sixth overall out of Weber State in 2012. He has since gone on to become a seven-time all-star, seven-time All-NBAer, and Rookie of the Year in 2013.

This past season, Lillard put up the third-most points per game (32.2) in the NBA. Furthermore, he was tenth in assists per game (7.3). Despite this, the Blazers missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season, going 33-49. However, the Blazers are reportedly in a “win now for Lillard” mode. This includes going as far as to indicate that the third-overall pick in the NBA draft is up for grabs. Also up for grabs? Damian Lillard. Rumors are steadily increasing that the Blazers could trade Lillard, with the star himself indicating that he wouldn’t mind a trade to Miami.

Smith Supports Lillard Leaving Portland

Speaking on First Take on June 7, Stephen A. Smith revealed he was all in on Lillard getting out of Portland. “I have been BEGGING Damian Lillard to get the hell out of Portland. … He’s not winning in Portland. It will not happen,” Smith said during a three-minute monologue on the topic. Furthermore, Smith revealed that he had advocated for Lillard and former Blazer CJ McCollum to both get out of Portland for many years. McCollum, also appearing on the show, also gave his thoughts about the situation. “The market will dictate what happens here. … If I was a betting man, I would say this is the last that we’ve seen of him [in Portland],” he said.

It’s a damning, yet fair, indictment of the situation in Portland. In Lillard’s tenure with the team, they have made the Western Conference Finals once (2019). Beyond that run, they have made the Conference Semifinals two other times (2014, 2016). However, they are simply not a championship-caliber team and it would take the moon, their stock of future draft picks, and a healthy dose of luck to build a one-and-done championship machine. Regardless, what do you think – should Lillard get out of Portland? Let us know in the comments.

Stephen A. Smith Shares Advice For Cardi B Regarding “Boredom”

Stephen A. Smith responded to Cardi B’s recent comments on missing her “old life” before becoming famous. The media pundit says that Cardi needs to appreciate the “boredom” that comes with wealth. However, if she can’t seem to do that, he’d be happy to take some money off her hands.

“Cardi B– I actually like Cardi B believe it or not. She’s a lot of fun,” Smith began in a video he posted on Twitter. “Putting on my glasses, I wanna make sure I read this right. She was talking about how sometimes having everything is boring, apparently. Here’s what motivated her. She said after a fan criticized her in a new music video where she is waving around guns, asking who escapes the hood, just to relive it every chance they get? Cardi responded back saying, ‘You want to know what’s so crazy? I was tearing up the other day because I miss my old life. Sometimes having everything gets boring.’”

Smith continued: “She has 272 million followers across the social media stratosphere. She says she’s bored being rich. I have a suggestion. Give it away. I’ll take some. I’m quite sure my social media guy Bailey would take some. One of my producers, J, he’ll take some. I got Michael and Sherry and them, they’ll take some. I know a whole bunch of people in this world that come from incredibly similar backgrounds to Cardi B’s that would sit up there and say to her, ‘Give it to me, I’ll take it. And I promise you I won’t be bored.’ This is not to condemn Cardi B. It’s simply to remind her that while you were doing what you needed to do– you said you had to do what you had to do to survive. We all get that. What I’m saying, however, is because of what you had to go through boredom is actually a good thing.”

Stephen A. Smith’s Message For Cardi B

Cardi made her original comments on boredom while discussing her recent collaboration with Latto, “Put It on da Floor Again.” The two released the remix, earlier this week, with a music video that features a cameo from Offset.

Stephen A. Smith Clarifies Shannon Sharpe Comments

Last week, Stephen A. Smith waded into the drama surrounding Shannon Sharpe’s abrupt exit from UNDISPUTED and Fox. Smith’s comments were taken as something of a backdoor invitation to try and woo Sharpe into joining him on First Take, Smith’s massively popular ESPN show.

“I don’t know what his plans are, I don’t know what he’s trying to pursue, I don’t know what he’s after. But if Shannon Sharpe needs me, I’m happy to be here for him,” Smith said on the Stephen A. Smith Show on June 2. “And if that included him wanting to come on First Take, the bosses at ESPN know that is something that I would support.” However, Smith has now clarified his comments as rampant speculation in recent days.

Stephen A. Smith Shouts Out ESPN Team

Speaking on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith clarified that he had not been looking to rustle any feathers with his comments. “Let me revisit a conversation that I had last week about Shannon Sharpe,” Smith began. “I meant what I said. I respect the brother. If he wants to come on First Take, I’m here for it. I support him. He wants to go elsewhere, that’s fine. He wants to get his own show and he’s got his own aspirations. I’m fine with that, too. Got a lot of respect again for Shannon Sharpe. But make no mistake about it, I love my crew.” Smith then proceeded to list all the various personalities that contribute to ESPN‘s coverage.

However, Smith continued. “And I would never ever ever sit up and tell anybody that I want anybody more than I want Michael Irvin. I welcome Shannon Sharpe to First Take. But it would be in the mix of being part of the family. I like the potpourri of contributors. I like the action and the excitement and the fun of the show. Adding people into the mix is one thing. Changing the complete makeup and formula of the show is entirely different and that ain’t happening for anyone.” Smith’s words make two things clear. Firstly, Shannon Sharpe moving to First Take would not see another personality leave. Secondly, if Sharpe wanted to join First Take, it would be on their terms and expectations, not his. Sharpe is yet to announce his next move but you can follow all the latest updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Stephen A. Smith Joins Cam’ron On “It Is What It Is”

Stephen A. Smith is certainly one of the biggest names in sports talk television. Overall, he is the man who has helped ESPN get through some pretty rough times. Although not everyone is a fan of his, he has certainly shown just how valuable he is to that company. Moreover, if it were not for him, there would be no one watching First Take. Not to mention, he and Skip Bayless helped pioneer the debate show format. For better or for worse, he is absolutely a legend of the game.

Subsequently, Stephen A. has inspired other shows like First Take. For instance, Cam’ron and Ma$e have their very own show called It Is What It Is. The show has proven to be fantastic. They make some hilarious jokes, and for the most part, the commentary is always unique. Compared to sports journalists, they have a more fan-based perspective that is typically irreverent and less manufactured. That said, it appears as though they have attracted the attention of ESPN’s finest.

Stephen A. Smith Is Ready To “Act Bad” In Miami

Stephen A. Smith is easily the most famous man on sports television at this point. Overall, he is always being shown on TV, particularly on ESPN. In the eyes of many, he is the sole entity that is keeping the lights on over there. He has been a key figure in their sports coverage over the years, and he effectively runs First Take. Although not everyone likes Smith and his approach to television, he is most definitely a ton of fun to watch on a daily basis. This is especially true now that the NBA Finals are here.

However, Stephen A. isn’t always interested in the Finals. Sure, he knows the Finals make for interesting conversation. Although, he much prefers when the Finals are in a location that he can live lavishly within. For instance, during the Finals between Milwaukee and Phoenix, he seemed to be disappointed. Moreover, he felt the same way in 2019 as the Raptors took on the Warriors. However, now that they are in Miami, he is prepared to live his “Act Bad” fantasy.

Stephen A. Smith Is Excited

In the video clip above, you can see just how excited Stephen A. gets about being able to spend the week in Miami. Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals will be played this week, with Game 3 going down tomorrow. Their series is tied at one a piece, although that doesn’t seem to matter here. It seems like Stephen A. could hug and kiss every person who works at ESPN for allowing him to cover the great game.

Over these coming days, it will be interesting to see what Stephen A. gets up to. Overall, there is a lot to do in Miami. There are vices around every corner, and he will have to do his best to stay away and focus on the prize. Hopefully, the series goes six games and he is able to go back. For Smith, that is the best case scenario.

Stephen A. Smith & JJ Redick Roast Kendrick Perkins For Moaning In Their Ears

Stephen A. Smith and JJ Redick have proven to be a fun duo on First Take. Although they do get into their fair share of arguments, the show is at least interesting. Overall, they make for great TV, and Smith has not been challenged like this since Max Kellerman was on the program. Redick brings that firsthand NBA experience to the show, while Smith has his journalist lens. It makes for a solid dynamic that is only backed up by just how compelling the NBA Finals have been.

Additionally, Kendrick Perkins makes the show a lot of fun as well. Perkins is someone who is quick with the hot takes, and he clashes with JJ Redick quite a bit. However, if you watch First Take, you know that Perk is always making noises in the mic. He breathes incredibly loudly, and it can be very distracting. Well, today, Redick and Stephen A. were fed up and made their feelings known. It all hilariously played out in the tweet seen below, courtesy of Clutch Points.

Stephen A. And JJ Redick Have Had Enough

“Perk, is that you moaning in my ear over & over again?” Redick asked with an annoyed tone. Subsequently, Smith followed this up by saying, “Yeah, I know. I was getting ready to ask that. You sound like you got sleep apnea, Perk.” Overall, it was a pretty hilarious moment as Perkins got ganged up. Although, it is clear that he took it all in stride and kept it moving. In the future, however, the First Take crew will need to find a way to mute his mic whenever he isn’t talking. Otherwise, this will continue to be an issue for the foreseeable future.

If this is health-related, we hope Kendrick Perkins can get it sorted out. Aside from that, we’re sure Stephen A., Reddick, and Perkins will continue to shine throughout these playoffs. They have been great, and we can’t wait to see more. Let us know what you think of ESPN’s Finals coverage, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the sports world.

Stephen A. Smith Says He’d Support Shannon Sharpe Joining “First Take”

Stephen A. Smith says that he’d support Shannon Sharpe joining ESPN’s First Take after it was reported that the NFL legend reached a buyout agreement with FS1. His last show with Skip Bayless on Undisputed will likely come after the NBA Finals. Bayless previously served as a co-host of First Take with Stephen A. Smith from 2007–2016.

“I don’t know what his plans are, I don’t know what he’s trying to pursue, I don’t know what he’s after. But if Shannon Sharpe needs me, I’m happy to be here for him,” Smith said on the Stephen A. Smith Show on Friday. “And if that included him wanting to come on First Take, the bosses at ESPN know that is something that I would support.” The buyout reportedly also stipulates that Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast will no longer be a part of FS1.

Shannon Sharpe has been hosting Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless since September 2016. There has been noticeable animosity growing between the co-hosts in recent months. The relationship reached a particularly low point after Bayless’ controversial tweet about Damaar Hamlin and his injury back in January.

More recently, the two got into a heated argument on air when Bayless made a comment noting that Tom Brady played until he was 45 years old while Sharpe retired at 35. “That’s what you do,” Sharpe responded. “Every time I call something into question, I get it … I did what I did! You make it seem like I was a bum! I’m in the effin’ Hall of Fame. I got three Super Bowls!”

Stephen A. Smith On Shannon Sharpe’s Future

Stephen A. Smith isn’t the only voice in sports media to express interest in working with Sharpe. Cam’ron also invited him to join his talk show, It Is What It Is. “Shannon, you definitely got a home here,” Cam’ron recently said. “Yo, listen my n***a, come to It Is What It Is n***a. You know how much bread we get? And you can be you because we being us. Shit would be well, my n***a.”

Get ready for the debate of all debates: Stephen A. Smith vs. Joe Budden. The franchise player at ESPN and the Podfather are prepared to embrace debate over one of the Internet’s favorite topics, Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James.

Let’s catch you up. Budden has long believed James has passed Jordan and isn’t a fan of the players Jordan had to face in his career, among other factors. Seeing Budden‘s take on The JBP, Smith hit his own podcast and said he respects the Pod King, but he is wrong.

Stephen A. would respond on Twitter, “My Brother, I will happily accept that invitation. Nothing but love for you and your show.”

He added, “Just let me get through these Finals. The second I have time this Summer, I’ll gladly accept your invite. See you soon, Bro!”
