Drake’s “Not Like Us” Allegations: Key Piece Of Evidence Already Debunked

A key piece of evidence in Drake’s bombshell petition against Universal Music Group and Spotify has already allegedly been debunked on social media. In his “pre-action” petition filing, Drake, through his company, Frozen Moments LLC, brought up “online sources” showing that Apple’s Siri would direct users to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” when they requested “Certified Loverboy.” HipHopDX’s Jeremy Hecht, who previously shared one of the viral videos pointing that out, has since clarified that this was only a glitch due to lyric recognition that Siri implements for users who may not remember a song’s title. “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles,” Lamar raps on the diss track.

The filing alleges: “UMG paid, or approved payments to, Apple Inc. to have its voice-activated digital assistant ‘Siri’ purposely misdirect users to ‘Not Like Us.’ Online sources reported that when users asked Siri to play the album ‘Certified Loverboy’ by recording artist Aubrey Drake Graham d/b/a Drake, Siri instead played ‘Not Like Us,’ which contains the lyric ‘certified pedophile,’ an allegation against Drake.”

Drake filed the petition in Manhattan court on Monday, alleging that UMG and Spotify worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” He is accusing UMG of using bots and payola, among other methods in what he describes as an “illegal” scheme. “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” lawyers for Drake’s company wrote. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.”

One Of Drake’s Allegations Debunked

They are accusing UMG of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act as well as using deceptive business practices and false advertising. Check out Jeremy Hecht’s response to being cited in Drake’s petition against UMG and Spotify below.

UMG Has Reportedly Issued A Scathing Response To Drake’s Pay-For-Play In Favor Of Kendrick Lamar Lawsuit

Today (November 25) Drake reportedly filed a groundbreaking lawsuit against UMG (Universal Music Group). In the suit, Drake accused UMG of colluding with his foe Kendrick Lamar during their song-for-song rap battle.

To be specific, Drake’s lawsuit claimed UMG paid streaming platform Spotify to “employed bots and payola schemes to inflate the numbers” of Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping diss “Not Like Us.” Now, UMG is clapping back. According to Variety, a representative for the label giant provided a statement to the outlet slamming the accusation.

“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue,” said the rep. “We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”

However, Drake’s initial compliment suggested that paying streaming platforms is a common practice at UMG. “UMG appears to have used similar tactics with other streaming services,” read Drake’s lawsuit. “On information and belief, UMG paid, or approved payments to, Apple Inc. to have its voice-activated digital assistant ‘Siri’ purposely misdirect users to ‘Not Like Us.’ UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices. It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.”

Spotify has not released a public statement regarding the accusations.

Drake is taking legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify with allegations that the two companies worked together to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track, “Not Like Us.” Through his company, Frozen Moments LLC, the Toronto rapper is accusing UMG of using bots and payola, among other methods in what he describes as an “illegal” scheme. According to Billboard, the filing doesn’t constitute a lawsuit, but instead a “pre-action” petition.

When Does Spotify Wrapped Stop Tracking For 2024?

Today is not only Halloween. It’s also the last day for Spotify counting plays towards your year-end Wrapped… or is it?

When Does Spotify Wrapped Stop Tracking For 2024?

It’s been reported that Spotify stops tracking for Wrapped — which lists your most-played songs, artists, and podcasts — on the final day of October, leaving November and December as a free-for-all for you to listen to the most embarrassing songs imaginable (that’s a problem for next year’s results). The music streaming service said as much in 2019. “We’re afraid that listening to a bunch of stuff right now won’t make any difference to this year’s or next year’s Wrapped. This is because Wrapped only covers the 1st of January until the 31st of October for any given year,” the Spotify Cares account wrote on then-Twitter.

However, as of 2023, that may no longer be in the case. “The only thing that we end on Halloween is eating candy corn. Stream (and snack) all through the year and we will see you in Wrapped season,” @Spotify wrote in response to a Pop Crave tweet last year. In a separate reply to @PopBase, the account wrote, “Don’t worry, Wrapped is still counting past Oct. 31.”

So, when is the final day for Spotify Wrapped in 2024? Spotify hasn’t said, but it’s likely sometime in early November. There’s still time for you to be in the top 0.1 percent of Taylor Swift listeners.

The Weeknd has officially beat his own record of artist with highest monthly listeners on Spotify, with over 120.5 million monthly listeners.

The XO-superstar became the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners in February of 2023, and has held the number 1 spot since then, aside for a recent one month period. This feat comes following The Weeknd’s latest music video for “Timeless” with Playboi Carti Produced by Pharrell. Also recently released is the fan hit “Dancing In The Flames,” from his heavily anticipated album, Hurry Up Tomorrow available for vinyl and CD.

Last month, The Weeknd delivered a sold out stadium spectacular live performance from São Paulo, which was streamed exclusively on YouTube. Millions of fans worldwide tuned in to witness the unique concert that showcased his signature sound and electrifying stage presence along with surprise guests Playboi Carti and Anitta. It was the highest music performance trending in the US and trended in 24 other countries, further solidifying The Weeknd’s reign as a global music icon. 10% of net proceeds from all merchandise sales at the event and online to the Brazilian Soul Fund of BrazilFoundation, supporting communities affected by natural disasters and economic hardships in southern Brazil.

Drake Notches An Incredible Streaming Stat After Becoming The Most Streamed Rapper For September

Drake, with all things considered, is still having a pretty good year. Sure, some people may be looking at him differently following the Kendrick Lamar battle, but the numbers seem to be a little conflicting. According to Akademiks TV (shocking…), he has recorded another insane streaming statistic in 2024. Just this past month, Drizzy’s numbers on Spotify eclipsed nine digits yet again. To be more exact, he clocked in around 1.1 billion. Obviously, the number of hits that he has in his possession is almost unmatched. However, despite a stacked catalog, this is still an impressive feat.

We say that because he has not really dropped anything of merit. Sure, there are the “100 GIGS” releases of “Circadian Rhythm,” “It’s Up,” “Housekeeping Knows,” as well as “No Face.” But these, along with some his features for artists like Camila Cabello, GORDO, and 4batz sort of came and went. Of course, the loss to Kendrick factors in too to some degree, making this all the more eye-popping.

With him achieving this, this also keeps another mind-bending stat alive. Over these first nine months, he’s been the most streamed rapper. Of course, with Akademiks posting this, you know there are going to be opposing fans looking to diminish this. “U need a license to ride ak,” one user on IG jokes. “Numbers don’t matter Kendrick still ended his career,” another boldly claims. Regardless, congratulations are in order for The Boy.

What are your thoughts on Drake becoming the most streamed rapper for September? Will he keep his streak alive for the rest of 2024? Does this prove anything to his haters? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Drake. Summer Walker Is Teasing A New Album, And Yes, She’s Still ‘Over It’

Five years ago to the day, Summer Walker released her debut album, Over It. Today, not only did she celebrate the release of her debut, but she also announced her third album via Spotify. In keeping with the theme established by her first two albums Over It and Still Over It, Walker’s next full-length will also have “Over It” in the title, but for now, she’s keeping the adjective a mystery.

The announcement of Summer’s new album arrives three years after Still Over It was released in November 2021. Since then, she’s reached her goal of having “hella babies” with the birth of her twins, released the 2023 EP Clear 2: Soft Life, and appeared on projects from the likes of Lil Tjay, Usher, and Sexyy Red, while dropping a slew of remixes to her fan-favorite breakout single, “Girls Need Love.”

Walker’s latest iteration of Over It will have some pretty high expectations; the first one broke a long-standing streaming record in 2019, while the second became the first No. 1 album from a female R&B star in five years. While there’s no release date or single information yet, it’s probably a safe bet that the rollout will begin sometime early next year, so it doesn’t get caught in the dead holiday season this year. Stay tuned.

How To Use Spotify’s AI Playlist Maker

AI is a bit of a gold rush at the moment, and Spotify has been getting in on it, too, with their AI DJ feature. A new AI playlist feature leaked in late 2023, but now Spotify is moving towards giving it an official, wider release.

How To Use Spotify’s AI Playlist Maker

Per Spotify’s announcement post, the feature is available on the mobile app and can be found by going to “Your Library.” From there, tap the “+” button on the top-right of the screen, then select “AI Playlist.”

Then, users will be presented with suggested prompts or the option to type their own. Spotify encourages specificity, sharing examples that include “sad music for painting dying flowers” or “tracks for horse riding into the sunset.” Spotify will then compile some tracks that match the prompt.

Users can also fine-tune the mix by telling AI Playlist what specifically they’re looking for, with example prompts like “more pop” or “less upbeat.” Once the playlist is in a good state, users can then tap “Create” to save the playlist to their library.

Spotify also notes, “While it’s designed to be fun, the tool is still in beta and won’t produce results for non-music-related prompts, like current events or specific brands. We also have measures in place around prompts that are offensive — so please prompt responsibly!”

Currently, the feature is in beta and is only available to users with iOS and Android devices in the UK and Australia. It’s not clear when or if the feature will be made available to users in the US and other countries.
