Shohei Ohtani Embroiled In Gambling Scandal After Interpreter Fired

Last night, the Dodgers fired the longtime interpreter of Shohei Ohtani after an ESPN investigation revealed that the man had allegedly stolen millions from the MLB star to cover gambling debts. Originally, a spokesperson for Ohtani told ESPN that Ohtani had willingly given Ippei Mizuhara $4.5M to cover the debts. However, after Mizuhara spoke with ESPN himself, Ohtani’s camp issued a statement alleging “massive theft”, although they did not explicitly name Mizuhara. This all came to light due to a federal investigation into an illegal California betting operation. Matthew Bowyer reportedly received a million dollars from Ohtani’s bank account. However, sources close to the betting operation told ESPN that Bowyer only ever interacted with Mizuhara.

Of course, this has led to a wave of conspiracy theories. Some believe that Mizuhara was Ohtani’s intermediary, placing bets on the Dodgers star’s behalf. All bets that Mizuhara made were on sports other than baseball. However, at this time, Ohtani will not face discipline and is not under investigation himself over Mizuhara’s actions. Mizuhara told ESPN that he had asked Ohtani to pay off his debts last year and that he did not know that Bowyer’s outfit was illegal. This remains a developing story.

Elsewhere, Ohtani recently revealed that his wife is former pro basketball player Mamiko Tanaka. Ohtani arrived at the Dodgers’ spring training with the news that he had “recently married someone” in his home country of Japan. However, he did not reveal the identity of his wife until now. Ohtani posted a photo of the pair as they boarded a plane to South Korea for the Dodgers’ season opener.

Tanaka played for Waseeda University and later for the Fujitsu Red Wave in Japan’s pro league. However, she stepped away from professional basketball last year, leading many fans to speculate that she had gotten married or was otherwise focusing on her personal life.

Angel Reese Reveals Breakup. Says She’s “Not Ready To Mingle”

Angel Reese has revealed tha she has broken up with her partner, FSU basketball player Cam’Ron Fletcher. “I’m single. I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all Imma say. That’s it. I’m not ready to mingle. I am single, but I’m not ready to mingle. I’m just focusing on my college career. I’m focusing on school. That’s all I’m focused on right now and I’m focused on me. I’m not focused on nobody else,” Reese announced on Instagram. The couple had been together since June 2023.

However, Reese won’t have much time to be in her feelings about the breakup. Reese will lead LSU into March Madness this week, where they will look to defend their 2023 title as a three-seed. However, after they open their tournament against Rice on Friday, things will only get harder for the Tigers. Their quarter of the bracket includes UCLA as a two-seed and Iowa as a one-seed, teams that LSU will have to beat to progress to the final four.

Elsewhere, Reese criticized Barstool Sports for a “double standard” in how they reported on two instances of the same celebration. “Lol I’ve seen this before,” Reese said in response to a post on X about Barstool‘s reporting of celebrations performed by Ja Morant and Quinn Ewers. On December 26, Ja Morant faced scrutiny for performing the “Rock Ya Hips”, a dance move popularized in New Orleans. Morant used it to troll the Pelicans. However, the celebration was initially misreported as a gunfire celebration. “Ja spraying imaginary bullets into section 113 after slam,” was the way that Barstool reported it on social media. However, when Texas QB Quinn Ewers did the same celebration during the Sugar Bowl, Barstool said that Ewers was “having fun”.

Of course, Reese is no stranger to the ire of Barstool. The outlet, and its founder Dave Portnoy, were some of the bi ggest critics of Reese after she hit Tony Yayo‘s “You Can’t See Me” during the National Championship. Barstool‘s coverage has long been criticized for racial bias, especially against Black athletes.

In a recent post-game interview, Jalen Green revealed that he is currently motivated by his “family” and his “baby”. Green hasn’t said much publicly since his partner, reality star Draya Michele, revealed she was pregnant with the young rising star’s child. However, other people have had plenty to say about the couple. Actor London Brown called Michele “passed around goods” while criticizing Green for dating the 39-year-old. Meanwhile, former NBAer Nick Young took the opportunity to share a story about how Michele had been with Gilbert Arenas.

Furthermore, many people have called Michele a “predator” given the 17-year age gap between her and Green. Michele recently opened up about the toll the hate was having on her. Michele said that some days she feels like she is “struggling to breathe” amid the wave of hate she has received over her relationship with Jalen Green. Previously, Michele had shared words from a self-proclaimed medicine woman in response to the hate. “Get comfortable being misunderstood. Only a fraction of people will be able to truly grasp your essence. You are not on anyone else’s timeline of comprehension. Also, it’s none of your business how others choose to perceive you. However, not everyone has it out for Michele. Patrick Beverley has defended Michele and Green after Nick Young shared a salacious story about the reality star on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast. “Sidenote Yal foul. Not cool, not at all. @GilsArenaShow Yal old asl talking about another man Lady. Not cool gang. @PatBevPod,” Beverley wrote on X, formerly Twitter. However many people in Beverley’s comments tried to defend Young and Arenas, saying the two men were just trying to “warn” Green about Michele.

Meanwhile, Joe Budden recently called Michele a “predator” amid the rumors that the 39-year-old year might be expecting a child with the 21-year-old Green. “We’ve seen so many NBA stars lose their career, and everything, because of women like this,” Budden said. He also went after co-host MeLyssa Ford, who didn’t appear to have an issue with the relationship. “We don’t have twenty minutes to explain something to you that is right there in front of you,” Budden said dismissively. Despite this, several fans pointed out that Budden was also a predator after impregnating at a woman in her mid-20s when he was 39.

He had his first appearance this week, and so far, the reviews have been solid. However, he unfortunately has to deal with some personal headaches amidst all of the positive career updates. According to TMZ, this is because Pierce had his home broken into over the weekend. In fact, this happened in Los Angeles on Friday night, while Pierce was away from his home.

As the report explains, the perpetrators were able to make off with about $100K in cash. Moreover, they took a safe with them, and some valuable watches. This is a whole lot of money, and it could very well be lost forever. However, the police are currently working on an investigation. They are looking at any kind of surveillance footage they can get their hands on. Considering this news, it should go without saying that no one has been arrested. At this stage, they are still trying to make sense of it all.

This is only exacerbated by her new rivalry with Caitlin Clark, who could very well be the greatest women’s basketball player of all time.

Unfortunately, Angel Reese has to deal with a lot of BS online. Firstly, you have the haters who just want to rain on her parade. Secondly, you have the racist basketball fans who dog whistle by calling her “arrogant” or a “showboat.” Lastly, you have weirdos who try and make up stories online. For instance, a rogue account came out and posted nudes of Angel Reese. However, it was immediately made clear that these images were made with AI. In fact, Reese addressed the controversy on Twitter.

On Monday (March 18), a video of Tjay and the athlete surfaced on @akademiks’ page, showing the former full of energy and enthusiasm while taking shots at Pereria.

Just a few seconds into the clip, the Brazilian fighter falls to the floor, marking Tjay the winner after seemingly knocking out his competitor. Though the moment was impressive, not everyone is buying the video’s validiity. “If you believe this s**t delete the app,” one skeptic wrote. On the other hand, others commended the 22-year-old for his strategic movements. “When you hit the chin right, you going to sleep,” they remarked. “Lil Tjay know what he doing .”

Drake Joins Houston For Selection Sunday, Worrying Fans About His Curse

Houston University Cougars star guard Jamal Shead presented Drake with a custom basketball jersey on Selection Sunday. The Toronto rapper had helped the team celebrate landing the No. 1 seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament. The school chairman, who is also the Houston Rockets owner, Tilman J. Feritta, brought out Drake to watch the results.

“We always want to welcome a guy who calls Houston his second home,” Feritta said. “He really wants to be a part of the community. Huge sports fan, he can play a little b-ball too.” Houston will be facing the Longwood University Lancers in their first-round matchup. They’re favored by 24.5 points according to ESPN.
