Feritta, brought out Drake to watch the results.

“We always want to welcome a guy who calls Houston his second home,” Feritta said. “He really wants to be a part of the community. Huge sports fan, he can play a little b-ball too.” Houston will be facing the Longwood University Lancers in their first-round matchup. They’re favored by 24.5 points according to ESPN.

Another joked: “There goes Houston winning streak it’s gone now.” The other teams to earn No. 1 seeds in the tournament were UConn, Purdue, and North Carolina. LaMelo Ball Gifts Adonis A Signed Jersey, Fans Have Mixed Reactions

Drake’s ties to the NBA and the sports world in general is very strong. The players adore him, and he loves to attend the biggest games. He was there for the incredible and improbable 2019 championship run his hometown Raptors went on. Drizzy’s passion for basketball is so strong that he is getting his son Adonis into it. They have been courtside together and he is even getting involved in playing as much as possible. Over the past couple of years, Adonis has taken a liking to certain players in the NBA, and one of them is LaMelo Ball.

According to Bleacher Report, Drake’s son drew a picture of the Charlotte Hornets star point guard. LaMelo saw it and he wound up gifting him a pair of his signature PUMA basketball kicks. The reaction can be found below and it is straight up adorable seeing Adonis so excited. With that connection being forged since last year, the two finally got to meet each other in person this past weekend.

The Hornets had to travel to Toronto last night, so it was the perfect opportunity. Adonis and a friend of his got to meet LaMelo in the locker room and the injured franchise player had a special gift for him. It was a signed jersey with a message written on the back. It said, “Go be great gang!! 1 of 1 rare not from here.” Unfortunately, Ball did not have a special surprise for Adonis’ buddy and that left some fans feeling a little disappointed. On person writes, “Other kid ain’t get s*** that’s crazy.” Another adds, “That’s kinda messed up tho. That kid is not gonna understand but that’s gotta hurt. If you cannot give to both don’t give them both nothing. Don’t do that.”

What are your thoughts on LaMelo Ball giving Adonis a signed jersey? Do you think he should not have gifted him anything since the other kid did not get a gift? Or, do you think the fans are overreacting to this situation? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Boosie Badazz Reveals Why Luka Doncic Signed His Jersey & How He Convinced Him

Luka Dončić had himself a historic game against the Atlanta Hawks in their home court on Friday (January 26) with a career-high 73 points -– the fourth-most points scored by an individual player in the NBA’s history. Well, seventh if you count Wilt Chamberlain’s three other higher-ranking performances, but that’s a breakdown for another time. Moreover, for hip-hop fans, one of the most notable parts of this night was when Boosie Badazz got his jersey signed by the Slovenian star. During a recent Instagram Live session, he explained how this happened, and why it means a lot to him as both a collector and fan.

“Everybody asking me how the hell I get the career-high jersey from Luka,” Boosie began. “‘Cause I’m Boosie. You know, I love the game, I show respect when I come to the games. I ask them, everybody before the games, like, ‘Man, I wanna get your jersey, bruh. I’m a collector, could you sign it to Boosie for me?’ Last night, I had help from the security. I had one security guy, [he] told Luka, ‘Man, Boosie want your jersey.’ I was on Kyrie Irving all night, Kyrie gave me a couple of jerseys. ‘Man, tell Luka I need that jersey, man!’ If anybody was on the sideline with me, they’ll tell you I called 70 points after the first quarter. So shoutout to Luka for looking out for me. You know, basketball, that was my first love. I love the game, I’m a collector, bro. And I’m Boosie!”

Boosie Explains Luka Dončić Signing His Jersey

“Nobody f**k with my collection!” Boosie excitedly said in a social media video after this exchange. “72, man! Luka signed, man! Don’t play with me, man!” “73 POINTS [fire emojis] [100 emoji],” he captioned an Instagram post with various pictures of him with the jersey. “@lukadoncic THANKS BRO ANOTHER ONE TO MY COLLECTION!!!!” “IM TOE UP.”

More Snaps From The Occasion

Meanwhile, we’re sure this is distracting the Baton Rouge MC quite well from his relationship drama. Many fans called out the age gap between him and his girlfriend, which she responded to online quite strongly. We’ll see whether that goes anywhere, and what will be the next jersey added to the collection. With that in mind, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Boosie Badazz and Luka Dončić.

Jersey From Victor Wembanyama’s NBA Debut Sells For Over $700K At Auction

Victor Wembanyama’s jersey from his NBA debut has sold for $762K, nearly eight times the estimated price. The auction, handled by Sotheby’s, opened last week and closed yesterday with an anonymous bidder coming away with the one-of-a-kind item. Of course, the price tag is nowhere close to the record set by Michael Jordan’s 1998 Finals jersey ($10.091M). However, it’s an amazing price for the jersey of a player less than 20 games into his NBA career. Furthermore, it did set a new record for the sale of an NBA rookie debut jersey. The all-time record for a full rookie uniform was set in 2021 with the sale of Kobe’s rookie kit.

A major contributing factor to the auction, which reportedly drew 62 bids alone, is how Wembanyama has gone from strength to strength over the course of his young career. Of course, Wembanyama is no ordinary rookie. The Frenchman has been professionally in the well-regarded French league since 2019. While many European players come to the NBA with prior professional experience, few have that experience at the same level or hype as Wembanyama. By comparison, two-time MVP Nikola, who played three years in Serbia before the NBA, was a mid-second-round pick in 2014.

How Is Wembanyama’s Rookie Season Going?

Through 14 games, Wembanyama is averaging an incredibly solid stat line – 18.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.6 blocks. Is he going to win MVP as a rookie? No. However, he is already making his present felt as a versatile and unpredictable player that opposing teams are still trying to solve. However, the next step will be for the Spurs to build a team around Wembanyama. After a surprisingly competitive start, the Spurs are 3-11 and have lost their last nine games in a row. The Spurs simply don’t have the pieces to be a competitive team.

Despite this, the expectations are still sky-high for the rookie. Every time he has a bad performance, it’s dissected and then the blame is immediately placed on Wembanyama’s shoulders. “After righting the ship for two games, Wembanyama suffered a massive regression in the loss. Even though the Spurs were outplayed across the board, Wembanyama’s season-low three-rebound total was notable. The Spurs have now lost nine straight games, and they need their rookie to pay off the investment with more consistency,” ESPN wrote of Wembanyama’s performance against the Clippers in their fantasy basketball section.

1972 Wilt Chamberlain Jersey Expected To Fetch $4M+ At Auction

A 1972 Los Angeles Lakers jersey worn by Wilt Chamberlain during Game 5 of the 1972 Finals will go up for auction at Sotheby’s later this month. It is believed to be the most valuable piece of Wilt Chamberlain memorabilia to ever go up for auction, with the piece expected to sell for at least $4 million. The previous record for Wilt Chamberlain memorabilia was a rookie Wilt jersey sold in June 2023 for $1.79 million. Furthermore, that sale set the record for a game-worn, vintage (pre-1980) piece of NBA memorabilia.

“This jersey holds an extraordinarily significant place in the history of Los Angeles, not only adorned by the man many consider to be the greatest player ever to step on the court but as a relic from one of the greatest franchises in sports history,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectibles. The jersey will go on public display at Sotheby’s LA gallery on August 31. It is being sold alongside a collection of magazines, newspapers, and trading cards that depict the jersey in question. Online bidding will run from August 27 to September 28.

Where Does Wilt’s $4M Jersey Rank In Jersey Sales?

While the jersey will set the record for Wilt Chamberlain memorabilia, where does its $4 million price tag rank among other jersey auctions? The most expensive jersey ever to sell at auction is a 1998 Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls jersey. Worn during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the jersey sold for $10.091 million in September 2022. It’s the first, and to date only, jersey to exceed $10 million. Just behind the Jordan jersey is Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” jersey from the 1986 World Cup. That sold for $9.28 million in May 2022.

While not as pricey as those items, the Chamberlain jersey is by no means cheap. Furthermore, there is a dedicated group of Chamberlain-specific collectors who will be very interested in the piece. As mentioned, the jersey is available for public viewing in LA until August 31. Be sure to come to HotNewHipHop next month to find out how much the jersey actually ends up going for.

Drake Seen Rocking Reds Jersey: Photo

Drake has long been known as a massive fan of sports. Fans can spot the musical icon every now and then sitting courtside watching his Toronto Raptors. However, the Toronto native sometimes has a change in taste when it comes to rooting for certain teams. But along the way, a legend has been born in the process. The hip-hop sensation has been known to curse any team he has been known to root for. The list of teams that could have been potentially affected by the said curse is longer than a CVS receipt. However, Canada’s native son has chosen an easy team to root for this time.

Champagne Papi was recently seen rocking a Cincinnati Reds jersey. The latest snapshot shows him wearing the red top, celebrating a classic Reds look. The Reds are a franchise in desperate need of a bolt of energy. Cincinnati’s baseball team has long been the butt of many baseball jokes. The team’s last World Series win was in 1990. Since then, the franchise hasn’t even sniffed a playoff series victory. But now, could Aubrey’s so-called curse be a reverse jinx for the Reds? Check out the photo below.

Drake Repping For Cincinnati

Jumping on the bandwagon of a loveable loser isn’t a popular move. Trust me, I’ve been a Reds fan since birth. It isn’t as fun as some may tell you that it is. However, Drizzy may be looking to turn around the lackluster franchise by reversing his own curse. Hey, the Cincinnati Bengals have become a winning franchise. Why can’t the Reds try to emulate that success? Whatever the case may be, everyone can agree that the Reds have amazing gear. Also, at one time, the franchise was home to the most popular baseball player of all time, Ken Griffey Jr.

Unfortunately, Griffey Jr. isn’t walking through that door with a healthy hamstring any time soon. However, the team is still paying him for his previous services. The baseball season is a long one. Having something to cheer about in the Reds organization has been few and far between. Now would be the best time for Drake to turn around his bad luck of cheering for different sports teams. Will the Reds become a different franchise with a musical titan under their banner? Let us know what you think in the comment section. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

Eagles Fans Eagerly Wait On Return Of Retro Look

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a tough loss in the Super Bowl but a highly successful season. If asked before the season, there wouldn’t have been many in the media crowning the Eagles king of the NFC. However, with the birth of a superstar in Jalen Hurts, along with a stout defense, the Eagles have to be favorites for the upcoming season. Eagles players and fans alike are chomping at the bit for next season to begin, we now know the team will be playing in style.

Retro uniforms can be a thing of beauty. In any sport, when done right, retro looks are a beautiful design that respects the past and gives fans a snapshot of their franchise’s history. The Eagles are a team who have a chance to kick straight through the uprights with a retro look. Fans are going to get the chance to see the Kelly green uniforms take the field once again this coming season. A perfect color to match anyone that might wear the newly approved number zero.

Philadelphia Eagles Delight With Retro Look

The absolute coldest look in the entire league. One could even argue that this should return as the permanent look of the Philadelphia Eagles. From the helmets to the cleats, there’s not a cleaner look than this. A permanent change to the Kelly green could change the stigma of the 1-2 record the Eagles have in the big game with their current look. The Eagles didn’t fail on the field last season, and they certainly won’t be in the uniform department this season, either.

More teams should take notes and bring back the looks of yesteryear. A matchup of these Kelly greens versus those beautiful 80’s Giants threads is enough to make an elder millennial shed a few tears. Or, even another chance to see those 90’s blue top Detroit Lions uniforms. What other retro looks would you like to see in the NFL? Please drop a comment in the section below and let us hear your thoughts. For the latest news on uniform drops in the NFL, continue checking in with HNHH.
