Kendrick Perkins has declared that the perfect Christmas gift for LeBron James from the Lakers would be trading for Zach LaVine. “They need that third superstar. They need someone who can play at the perimeter, someone who can score 20 consistently.” In short, Perkins wanted the Lakers to trade for someone who could help take the pressure off LeBron, who turns 39 at the end of the week.

LaVine is currently out with a foot injury that sidelined him in early December. However, he is expected back in early January. Before he went down, he was averaging 21 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists a game. That would make LaVine the third-highest scorer on the Lakers and the team’s 20-point scorer after LeBron and Anthony Davis. Whether they make this move remains to be seen.

LeBron James Wants The Return Of Christmas Jerseys

Meanwhile, LeBron himself has expressed a desire for the NBA to bring back the Christmas jerseys that briefly existed in the early 2010s. “This was amazing!! . I do wish we had Xmas day uniforms across the league still. Wonder why it stopped. ,” LeBron wrote on Twitter. The Lakers veteran was responding to a throwback post about the jerseys. It’s unclear why the NBA has stopped doing Christmas jerseys. However, the discontinuation likely came about as a result of the league focusing on more league-wide initiatives, such as the City Edition jerseys.

LeBron is in action on Christmas Day, as the Lakers play the Celtics. The team recently snapped a four-game losing streak thanks to a 40-point performance from LeBron against the Thunder. “We needed this win. We didn’t want to end the road trip in a losing effort. To come in here to play versus a team that’s been playing extremely well throughout this season, it was a big win for us,” LeBron said after the game. The Lakers are now 16-14 and hold the 9th seed in the West.

Of course, this might just be because the former wide receiver and now commentator has often spoken out about his antics, behavior, game, and general place within or outside of the NFL. Still, there doesn’t really seem to be much of a news item attached here other than Irvin’s recent list of the greatest wide receivers in league history. As you probably guessed, he left off Brown, which prompted him to get scandalous and homophobic in response. It’s just the latest addition in his long series of wild statements and claims.

“Sleeping at the top with Nightmares at the bottom,” Antonio Brown tweeted recently, starting off his tirade with what sounds like a bar. “Everybody want to be fly Until you swat em. In other news, Michael Irvin is too preoccupied with his commentary endeavors to pay this much mind, although that’s exactly the avenue that might prompt him to respond. In addition, he’s also quite busy with parenting, but that’s more of a comical relationship if you go off of recent headlines. For example, the Cowboys legend recently clowned his son’s rap career, joking that he’s trying to flex while having grown up in a gated community. Not exactly the most supportive of statements, but at least it seemed in good fun.

Wilder was thoroughly outclassed in the unanimous decision defeat and was humble enough to admit it after the fight. “He did a great job avoiding a lot of my punches. We make no excuses tonight. It was a good fight, and we move on to the next thing,” Wilder said. Despite having fought just one round since November 2021, Wilder was still the -700 favorite entering the bout. However, Parker never gave the Bronze Bomber a chance to properly uncork his signature right hook.

However, Wilder’s loss is so much bigger than just the American boxer. He entered the fight with Parker with a deal in place to fight Anthony Joshua next March if both men won. Joshua did his part later in the night, pummelling Otto Wallin so badly that Wallin’s corner threw in the towel after five rounds. With Wilder’s loss, it has led to Joshua already eyeing new options.

After the fight, Joshua said he was still open to a fight with Wilder. However, promoter Eddie Hearn quickly pivoted the conversation to a different fight instead. With a belt likely to become vacant due to the Fury-Usyk fight, Hearn has already begun hyping a title bout between Joshua and Filip Hrgović, the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist. Despite this, Joshua still expressed hope that Wilder could eventually rebound into being title-contention caliber again. “You can do anything, and if [Wilder] wants to come back he can do it,” Joshua noted.

Zion Willimson’s Contract No Longer Guaranteed

The final three years of Zion Williamson’s contract are no longer guaranteed due to the amount of time that Williamson has missed due to injury. Because Williamson missed more than 22 games last season, he triggered a clause in his contract that converted his 2025-28 salary from guaranteed to non-guaranteed. The main consequence of this is that the Pelicans can now waive Williamson without financial penalties after the 2024/25 season. However, Williamson can earn back his guaranteed status by appearing in enough games and hitting specific weigh-in checkpoints.

This season, Williamson is averaging 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists as the Pelicans have started 17-12 and currently hold the sixth seed in the West. However, Williamson has been hit with criticism on multiple occasions for seeming out of shape and having several poor performances. Williamson’s alleged ex, pornstar Moriah Mills, told Williamson to “get on the treadmill” and cut things like soda from his diet.

I just got to be more aggressive. I think if I’m more aggressive that energy will definitely carry over,” Williamson said after going 13/2/2 in the 44-point loss.

Does not run hard. I had the same problem my first, second year — I thought I was running hard. Charles talks about this all the time, my talent’s gonna get me 20.
