Meek Mill Freestyles Over Drake’s “Family Matters” Diss Track: Watch

Meek Mill shared a video of himself listening to a freestyle he made over the beat to Drake’s diss track, “Family Matters,” on social media over the weekend. In the clip, he plays the track in a car while rapping along. Drake released the original version of the song, earlier this year, while feuding with Kendrick Lamar.

Fans had mixed responses to the freestyle on X (formerly Twitter). ”Literally copy’s anything Drake does, soon as Drake got braids he got them (don’t care if he had them years ago) also every single beat Drake raps on he has too rap on, he a fan,” one user argued. Another added: “It’s really astonishing how this man’s image flipped to ultimate goofy. I really can’t unsee it.” Others were more excited by the snippert. “This sound like Dreams & Nightmares Meek,” one fan remarked.

Meek’s flip of Drake’s “Family Matters” comes after he discussed his relationship with the Toronto rapper, last year. “Now we got to a space where we can text each other and say anything… We got that honesty where we can leave it on the table, and we can walk away, and feel good about that. And we ain’t have that before the beef,” he said on SiriusXM’s Hip Hop Nation. The two famously feuded back in 2015 but are clearly on much better terms nowadays.

Yungeen Ace Appears To Diss Foolio And His Mom In New Snippet

Yungeen Ace seemingly dissed both Foolio and his mother while rapping over Cash Cobain’s hit song, “Problem,” for a new snippet. He debuted the track on Triller and immediately began catching attention on social media for lyrics that appear to address his late rival.

“They mad at me that n***a died that’s not my [problem], I’m getting rich off the dead like that’s my [problem],” Yungeen raps, as caught by XXL. “Can’t trust nobody but my choppa that’s my [problem]. Lil’ n***a died, got caught in traffic that’s my [problem].” From there, Ace appears to go after Foolio’s mom with the lyrics: “When this b**ch got hit with the stick that wasn’t my [problem]. When his mom got hit with that sh*t that wasn’t my [problem].”

Despite the apparent diss, Ace recently shot down rumors about harboring ill feelings toward the late rapper. Speaking on Instagram Live in July, he expressed his condolences and said: “It’s so funny because me and bruh, we cool. Me and him, we cool and sh*t. So funny, I was just talking to him, I said, ‘Bruh, you gotta stay out the way. You know a ni**a love you out here, real sh*t. You know I f**k with you, real sh*t.’ Stay out the way. So, I’m saying to all the kids, stay out the streets.”

Ian Looks To Quiet The Critics With “Shut It Down”

The hip-hop community is mostly in an uproar over the newcomer, ian. The Dallas, Texas based rapper has been going viral online thanks to his average suburban white kid aesthetic and his way of interpolating rappers such as Yeat. Or if you ask Tyler, The Creator, he’s “mocking” Future and Gucci Mane “rap music”. Outside of the rageful mob of listeners, the California multi-hyphenate now seems to be one leading the charge. In a recent interview with Maverick Carter, he ripped into ian without necessarily saying his name directly. However, it was pretty clear once he said, “This white kid, regular Caucasian man”.

It seems like no matter what ian does, he’s going to have haters but he’s doing what he can to silence them with “Shut It Down”. This is a new “single” or “snippet” that was released onto his Instagram page according to Our Generation Music. Of course, this comes after his debut mixtape Valedictorian and its subsequent deluxe. The youngster is riding with underground rising star producer 2hollis for this track and this beat slaps pretty hard. As usual, there are some clever and hilarious lines from ian. No matter what camp your in right now, you have to admit that ian is here to stay.

Tommy Richman Teases Another Incredible Song Snippet: Watch

Tommy Richman is poised to become the breakout R&B star of 2024. 4batz had the baton for a little bit, but Richman came out of nowhere with his smash hit “Million Dollar Baby.” The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Tommy Richman recently went on The Good Sh*t Radio with Kal Banx, and gave fans a taste of what could potentially be his next single. The singer played an extended preview of the untitled song, and it sounds amazing.

Tommy Richman ran through some of his earlier songs on The Good Sh*t Radio. The DJ had to thrown on “Million Dollar Baby,” but the real revelation was the new song. Richman rides a slower tempo for a more reflective R&B cut. Whereas Richman’s breakout hit was aspirational, this one is about mistakes. “It’s been so long,” he sings. “Looking at my face, my eyes are a mess.” The singer goes on to realize what a “good thing” he squandered romantically. It’s right in the Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller lane that Tommy Richman has found himself in. It does, however, have more of a funk bounce to it.

Tommy Richman’s Sophomore Album Is Dropping Soon

Tommy Richman has been dropping music since 2019, but the sonic transformation has been notable. His debut album, ALLIGATOR (2022), brandished more of a punk, rage aesthetic. “Million Dollar Baby” marked a notable shift towards more of a pop sound, and the singer hasn’t looked back. “Devil Is a Lie” was Richman’s follow up to his breakout single, and it similarly popped off. It sounded like the offspring of Nelly’s “Hot In Herre” and weirder, N.E.R.D. album cuts. It didn’t quite scale the Billboard heights of its predecessor, but it cracked the top 50 and was rapturously received by fans. Even outspoken haters like Funkmaster Flex liked the song.

Richman has confirmed that his second album, COYOTE, will be dropping soon. It’s safe to assume both singles, as well as the new snippet, will make the tracklist. When asked to describe his musical approach, the singer told Lyrical Lemonade that he wanted to make people happy. “Honestly man, I just try to make cool sh*t for people but more so for me,” he explained. “It’s not about the gimmicks or cliches for me. I wanna make stuff that’s palatable and listenable but also just shit I like and am interested in.” We’d say he’s doing a good job.

Tanna Leone Previews Brand New Kendrick Lamar Song “Peter Pan”

Kendrick Lamar had adhered to boogeyman rules. The rapper has been dead silent since the Drake battle. He performed the “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth, and dropped the “Not Like Us” video on the Fourth of July. That’s been it. Everything pertaining to his upcoming album has been speculation and internet theorizing. Kendrick Lamar’s lack of content is what makes this new leak so exciting. Tanna Leone, a rapper formerly signed to Lamar’s pgLang label, teased a brand new collab on July 24.

The song is tentatively titled “Peter Pan.” Tanna Leone posted a thirty second snippet of the song on Instagram with the caption: “When we doin the collab tape mane?” The rapper tagged producer Cardo Got Wings, confirming that he in fact made the beat. The desire for new Kendrick Lamar music is at an all-time high, especially given the success of “Not Like Us.” That being said, “Peter Pan” does not have a ton of Lamar on it. Tanna Leone does most of the rapping, and Dot is relegated to doing ad-libs behind him. He can also be heard laughing at the 16 second mark.

Kendrick Lamar and Tanna Leone have actually collaborated in the past. The latter appeared on the song “Mr. Morale” from Lamar’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers (2022). The song was praised by critics, and Leone was even nominated for a Grammy for his appearance. Leone, real name Avante Santana, is also from Los Angeles, California. He signed with pgLang in 2022, and appeared in the company’s campaign for Converse. He also opened for Lamar’s cousin, Baby Keem, during the Melodic Blue Tour.

Unsurprisingly, Tanna Leone and Kendrick Lamar share a lot of musical influences. Both rappers bow at the altar of Tupac, as evidenced by Leone’s interview with Complex. “‘Pac for sure [and] DMX,” he said when asked his favorite artists. “My mom had a crazy CD collection. I was always the first one to get home, so the first thing I would do after I came in the door was go straight to the CDs. I would put on Tupac’s Greatest Hits.” There’s no word on whether “Peter Pan” will appear on a Tanna Leone or a Kendrick Lamar album, but either way, we’re glad to have a piece of it.

Eminem Returns To “The Marshall Mathers LP” House In “Tobey” Music Video Teaser

Eminem has fans feeling very happy these days with his new single “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, building up hype for the release of his new album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) next week (Friday, July 12). However, they are not quite as happy as they could be, as it looks like the Lyrical Lemonade-partnered music video for the track, directed by Cole Bennett, is not quite ready for release yet. But don’t fret, Marshall Mathers fans. He recently took to social media to apologize for the delay in the visuals’ release, but did include a short clip from the upcoming video to hold fans over.

“The Tobey video is not completed- new date Monday 7/8,” Eminem captioned the clip on Twitter. “Here’s a peek in the meantime!!! Sorry 4 the delay.” In the snippet, you can see BabyTron walk past Eminem, who’s sitting on the steps of his iconic house featured in the cover art for The Marshall Mathers LP and its 2013 direct sequel. It’s a bit of a full-circle moment for the Detroit legend, as well as for the city’s own Big Sean. “Not gon hold you, Slim Shady LP was the first CD i bought wit my own money at Costco,” he recently tweeted. “Me n Em bout 4 songs in now (DVE, No Favors, Detroit 2 cypher) but being on The Death Of Slim Shady is full circle. I aint know when i bought that, that id be one of the next 1’s out da city…”

Eminem Teases “Tobey” Music Video

Meanwhile, “Tobey” drew some interesting reactions online for wholly different reasons relating to a lot of prominent rap beef in 2024. With Kendrick Lamar and Drake going at it, maybe folks became too battle-pilled to treat Eminem’s competitive bars on the song as anything other than direct shots. Specifically, they thought that he dissed Jay-Z. But Royce Da 5’9″ quickly hopped online to debunk this rumor.

Despite all the hype behind Eminem, “Tobey,” and The Death Of Slim Shady right now, not everyone is all the way on board. “Numbers wise, Eminem is the best Detroit rapper but the gag is nobody would say that in Detroit,” the 313’s Skilla Baby recently posited. “Numbers wise, it’s Eminem but nobody in Detroit is playing Eminem right now and I was an Eminem fan as a kid. I’m a fan of Eminem but do we consider him our best rapper? I don’t think Detroit does.”

Cardi B is back to teasing her fans with some new music on social media as they eagerly await her sophomore LP. The Bronx, New Yorker has been taking her sweet time since the release of her GRAMMY-winning debut full of hits, Invasion of Privacy, back in 2018. However, even with it being over six years in between projects, she still has incredible pull. Cardi B’s last few solo singles such as “Enough (Miami)”, “Like What (Freestyle)”, “Bongos”, and “Hot S***” all have over 24 million streams each. Additionally, he influence is still there, as she recently won the Hollywood Unlocked Inspiration Award. Overall, the details on the hitmaker’s next album are extremely muddy.

All we can really assume right now is that those songs we mentioned are potential tracks for the project. We have no word on an artwork, features, a title, and most importantly, a release date. For now, fans of Cardi B are going to have to continue to sit around and wait patiently, although that is already highly unlikely. I was in Miami.” She added: “He wanted to do one more thing for the album. Why does he have his own song? Ice Spice Showcases An Otherworldy Sound For Potential Single “Phat Butt”

There is a belief out there that Ice Spice’s upcoming debut album Y2K! could be career altering record for better or worse. The New York rapper experienced an extremely quick rise to star status after several viral singles. It has led to brand deals, as well as co-signs from major stars. However, after the release of her first project, Like.. ? in early 2023, the quality of her releases has not been up to snuff, for the most part. Those tracks of course include “Think U The S*** (Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light”. But perhaps this potential single from Ice Spice, “Phat Butt”, could swing her fortunes.

Since her fans are going to have wait another month and change for the LP, the 24-year-old has been extremely generous with the snippets. With “Phat Butt” being teased multiple times in the past couple of days, there is a good chance we get another sneak peek at the sonic direction soon. Compared to the aforementioned promotional cuts, “Phat Butt” sees Ice Spice go for a more spacey, warped, and dark sound. It sounds like something Yeat would have put on his last record, 2093.

In terms of the artist performance, the “Munch” MC is bringing a more stripped back and cool cadence. It is a pretty stark change from the shouty deliveries on “(Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light”. The flows and bars are also pretty sticky, “Name got the b**** gaggin’, hit the bench up and tagged in / B****, you lost, throw the flag in, stay on a jet, but ain’t laggin’ (Yup) / Got these b****es copying my pose (My pose) / Got these b****es bitin’ all my flows (Bitin’ all my flows) / Like ballerinas, keep em’ on they toes (On they toes) / And I really write, like f*** a ghost (Ghost, ghost, ghost)“. If this is the type of material fans are getting a lot of on Y2K!, then those monthly listener numbers are going to shoot back up.

What are your thoughts on this new Ice Spice snippet, “Phat Butt”? Do you like Ice Spice going in a darker direction for this upcoming track, why or why not? Could this be one of her best songs to date? Does this get you more excited for her upcoming debut album Y2K!? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments.
