Seth Rogen Pinpoints The Moment Drake Officially Lost The Kendrick Lamar Beef And Marvels At How Crazy The Whole Thing Is

Last night (May 7), Seth Rogen hosted Seth Smokes The Bowl, a Hilarity For Charity benefit event at the Hollywood Bowl. The event featured various performers, and at one point between acts, Rogen shared his take on the ongoing Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef.

Rogen started, “If you’re a rap fan, there’s some crazy sh*t going on right now.” He then gave a broad overview of the situation, summarizing by saying the two are feuding by writing “mean rhymes about each other.” When he got the point of Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “The Heart Part 6,” specifically how Lamar accused Drake of an inappropriate interest in underage women and Drake refuted it, Rogen said, “I would say as soon as you are asserting in a rap song that you should not be a registered sex offender, you’ve lost the rap battle.”

He added, “What’s crazy is these are not, like, personal correspondences: These are songs! These are hit songs! These are No. 1 and 2 on iTunes, like, right now! These are songs the Apple algorithm is telling my mother to listen to while working out.”

He then compared the song to Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” which is famously believed to be about Dave Coulier. After pointing out the relative mystery behind the song’s official, confirmed meaning, Rogen continued, “But now Kendrick is like, ‘F*ck you Drake, you’re a pedophile.’ And these are hit… people are dancing to these songs! Could you imagine going to a club and seeing a room full of people dancing to a song about you being a pedophile? Especially if you were one? I don’t know if he is, but if he was, I assume that’d be a very alarming moment in your life. ‘Oh no, they’re on to me.’”

Ice Cube Seemed Quite Impressed With Harry Mack’s “TMNT” Freestyle: Watch

If you haven’t heard by now, there’s a new creative animated movie in town to take over your TikTok feeds with some fun- and bars, too. Moreover, Harry Mack just teamed up with the cast of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, along with writer Seth Rogen and fellow cast member and very special guest, Ice Cube. The rapper posted a YouTube video of the occasion to promote the film and also showcase his sick freestyle for them. Of course, the freestyle came with a challenge: work in a set of words that each of the six film collaborators chose. After running them down, Mack breezed through “ooze,” “mayhem,” “manhole,” “superfly” (Cube’s character), “pepperoni,” and “warthog” with ease, and the West Coast legend was impressed.

Not only was Ice Cube bobbing his head the whole way through, but he also had some kind words for Harry Mack at the end. “That was the truth,” he told the YouTube rapper, which is far from the first time that a more established MC commended him. “That was the truth right there, good, without a doubt. Off the dome is the hardest rhyming, it’s the hardest rap you can do is off the dome. And he did it with ease. You a master. Yeah, without a doubt, I know what you just did, baby.”

Ice Cube Stamps Harry Mack’s Freestyle With His Seal Of Approval

Then, Harry Mack took to his social media to celebrate the honor. “Yoooo this was *NSANE!!” he captioned a clip of it on Instagram. “I was a huge fan of the TMNT cartoons as a kid, even had some of the action figures. Being involved with @tmntmovie in any capacity is dope- but naw, this was next level. Shout out to one of the dopest, most influential rappers of ALL TIME @icecube. For not only listening to my freestyle, but also giving mad props after I was done. That alone is enough motivation to keep me going for decades man I swear.”

“And I gotta say, hearing the iconic @sethrogen laugh in person was beyond special,” he continued. “That man is such a legend. Much love to the full turtle cast as well for rocking with my TikTok and already knowing who I was when I showed up, that was such an awesome surprise for me. The energy was top notch this whole day. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to do what I love for people I deeply respect. Go peep that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in theatres August 2, it’s gonna be crazyyy.” Apparently Mack does this kind of thing often, as he did so for the Transformers cast not too long ago. Regardless, for more news and the latest updates on Ice Cube and Harry Mack, check back in with HNHH.

Seth Rogen Calls Live-Action Super Mario One Of The “Worst Films Ever Made”

Seth Rogen has enjoyed a successful run for the past 20 years. He appeared in his first film,  Donnie Darko, in 2001. That movie was followed by a supporting role in the critically acclaimed The 40-Year-Old Virgin. These led to starring jobs in 2007’s Knocked Up, and 2009’s Funny People.  Now, the comedian is tackling the voice of Donkey Kong in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. However, he has some critiques about the original 1993 live-action film.

In a recent interview with Variety, he shared how he looked forward to seeing the movie thirty years ago. Unfortunately, the experience was not a pleasant one. In fact, Rogen said the film was likely the worst he’ll ever see. “I was so excited,” he told the publication before dropping a bombshell. “It’s one of the worst films ever made. I was so disappointed.” He explained that this movie was the first time he realized that lousy cinema could exist.

Seth Rogen Is Sure The New Super Mario Is Better

Rogen feels his role will “vindicate that moment” for fellow 11-year-olds who turn out to see this latest adaptation. He promises they will be satisfied with the Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic-directed new version. Rogen previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the plot also drove him to join the cast. He found humor in Donkey Kong and Super Mario being rivals. The 40-year-old found comfort in knowing he didn’t have to change his voice much to be effective. Chris Pratt voices Mario, while Charlie Day takes on Luigi. Famed comedian Jack Black brings Bowser to life, and Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the pink royal character Princess Peach.

In that 1993 live-action version, director Rocky Morton caught flack for Nintendo’s lack of involvement in the project. While that wasn’t completely Morton’s fault, everyone didn’t receive the story well. The plot surrounded Mario and Luigi, played by Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, respectively, as they relentlessly tried to stop King Koopa from bringing his dinosaurs to the planet. Since then, there have not been any more live-action adaptations of the film, which is surprising considering many older animated films are getting the live treatment. The Super Mario Bros. Movie arrived in theaters on Wednesday.

The Writer Of The ‘Worst Rap Track In The History Of Rap’ Is Thrilled That His Song Might Be In The ‘Mario’ Movie

Grant Kirkhope composed the scores for some of the most well-known video games ever, including GoldenEye 007 and Banjo-Kazooie. But his greatest contribution to culture is rhyming “dudes” with “mood” — and he’s OK with that. Kirkhope penned the lyrics to the Donkey Kong 64 intro song “DK Rap,” which Seth Rogen, who voices Donkey Kong in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, called “objectively one of the worst rap songs of all-time.”

In response, Kirkland tweeted, “If you’d told me in ‘97, when I wrote the worst rap track in the history of rap tracks, that it would go on to be in a Mario Bros movie I’d would’ve burst with excitement! Long live the DK Rap!”

Let’s give it up for Kirkland for resisting the “my name is [BLANK] and I’m here to say” cliché. Although now I want to know what Lanky Kong is here to say…

Rogen discussed his opposite of method acting approach to voicing DK in the Mario movie (let Jeremy Strong voice Diddy Kong). “I was very clear, I don’t do voices,” he told Comic Book. “And if you want me to be in this movie, it’s gonna sound like me and that’s it. And that was the beginning and end of that conversation.” He is the leader of the bunch, after all.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens on April 5.

Seth Rogen Jokes ‘21 Jump Street’ Should Be Sent ‘Around the World’ After Kanye’s Jonah Hill Remarks

Seth Rogen Is Fine With Not Getting Any Credit For ‘Curing’ Kanye West’s Antisemitism

Kanye West is more synonymous with antisemitism than music or anything else since his dangerous antisemitic Twitter rant and even more inexcusable sit-down with Alex Jones late last year.

Last weekend, West claimed on Instagram, “Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again.” He continued, “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Cue Seth Rogen’s famous laughter.

Rogen was promoting the forthcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie with CinemaBlend when he was asked about Hill and 21 Jump Street magically making West “like Jewish people again,” which, to be clear, is not a viable approach against antisemitism. Rogen roared his distinctive laugh before saying, “You know what? [Hill] can have it. Happy to be left out of that one. But you know what? Good! Cured!”

Rogen added, “They should send that movie around the world — let everyone watch it! I wrote some jokes for that movie, so I feel slight ownership.”

Last December, Rogen poked fun at Kim Kardashian after she didn’t show at The Hollywood Reporter‘s Women In Entertainment breakfast (as noted by Page Six).

“Are we going to talk about how Kim Kardashian didn’t show up? Is that going to happen?” Rogen said at the podium. “I’ll say this … I have seen every episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I know she is not doing something more important than this. I’ve seen 100,000 hours of her. She’s never done something more important than this. This would be the climax of the show.”

And Rogen subtly snuck in a perceived jab at West, “She’s probably dealing with a lot right now.”

Kardashian and West reportedly finalized their divorce last November, per People, and Kardashian has been open about how “f*cking hard” it is to co-parent with West.

Seth Rogen Laughs At Kanye West’s Jonah Hill Apology Post

Kanye West had everyone mildly confused on Saturday when he issued an apology for the hateful comments he made toward the Jewish community. The Chicago rap star shared a photo of the 21 Jump Street theatrical poster and praised Jonah Hill (who refused to acknowledge the artist’s comments) for making him “like Jewish people again.” Major organizations like the American Jewish Committee and Stop Antisemitism rejected the apology as it didn’t come across with sincerity.

However, Seth Rogen feels as though the tongue-in-cheek apology could be a sign of Kanye West finally taking accountability. Rogan sat down with CinemaBlend to discuss the Super Mario Bros. Movie but he also provided a reaction to Ye’s post. After cackling at the post, Seth Rogen said that he’ll allow Jonah Hill to “have it.” “Happy to be left out of that one. But you know what? Good! Cured! They should send that movie around the world, let everyone watch it,” Seth Rogen said. “I wrote some jokes for that movie, so I feel slight ownership.”

Seth Rogen Laughs At Kanye West’s Apology

Ye’s recent apology a few months after a disastrous beginning to his press campaign. The man behind “Bound 2,” which Seth Rogen and James Franco parodied, went on a months-long media run, specifically on right-wing platforms, where he spewed anti-Semitic narratives as a means to push back against the media and corporate powers above him. Eventually, platforms like Instagram and Twitter gave him the boot for his hateful tirade, although they later reinstated his accounts.

The anti-Semitic tirade led to fractured relationships with brands like Balenciaga, Adidas, and GAP, a brand he previously signed a decade-long contract with. In a matter of weeks, Ye watched the multi-billion dollar empire he established crumble in front of him. It seems as though Kanye West is trying to repair the harm that he’s done but as the AJC and SA suggested, it will take far more than watching a buddy-cop film starring a Jewish actor. Check out Seth Rogen’s comments above on Kanye West’s recent apology and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Seth Rogen Recounts Smoking Weed With Megan Thee Stallion

Seth Rogen is a well-known, well-loved actor and comedian. His friendly charm and goofy laugh allow him to mingle with stars all across Hollywood. In an interview on March 14th with Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Rogen talks about his night at Vanity Fair. After the Oscars ceremony, stars will typically flock to the Vanity Fair after-party to hang out with their peers. In his interview with Jimmy, Seth talks about his night with Steven Spielberg, among other things. But it was his interaction with Megan Thee Stallion that caught everyone’s attention.

Megan Thee Stallion is a rapper who quickly rose to fame after releasing her first album in 2020. She is known for her independent and assertive attitude. While Megan and Seth Rogen have very little in common, they are both able to easily make friends. In his interview, Seth states that he had never met Megan before the Vanity Fair party. Megan approached the movie star to smoke weed, and assured him that he and her “brother” would get along very well. The three set out to smoke together and Seth didn’t think twice about it. But later, a person behind the scenes informed Seth that Megan does not have a brother.

Seth Rogen Is Confused About Who He Smoked With

Regardless of his confusion, Seth Rogen chose to exchange phone numbers with the mysterious man. When asked if Seth got along with Megan’s brother, he stated, “We really did, yeah, which is unfortunate because he might not exist.” Then the actor jokingly looked at the camera and said, “Hey Travis, call me.” Seth, despite not knowing what was going on, seems open to making new friends either way. But there is a likely explanation as to why people were confused on the matter.

It is common among a lot of communities to make a family out of their friend circle. While Megan Thee Stallion has expressed that she has no biological siblings, she most likely has a lot of friends who she considers her “sisters” and “brothers.” But for someone like Seth Rogen, who is not used to this tradition, it’s easy to see why he was confused. However, it is unconfirmed as to what Megan Thee Stallion really meant. Check back to see if Seth is able to decipher who he met at the after-party.

Seth Rogen Smoked Weed With Megan Thee Stallion And Her Brother (Who Does Not Exist) At An Oscars Party

Last night (March 14), Seth Rogen stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where the two talked all things Oscars. During their chat, Rogen revealed he went to the Vanity Fair afterparty, where he smoked weed with one of the buzziest rappers and her (alleged) brother.

“It was fun,” he said. “I smoked some weed with Megan Thee Stallion and her brother. That was a good time.”

“Her brother, Sylvester Thee Stallion?” Kimmel joked.

“Yeah, exactly,” said Rogen.

Rogen then explained that he had never met Megan, or her alleged brother, before that night.

“She approached me, and she was adamant that I would get along with her brother, and someone backstage told me that she doesn’t have a brother,” Rogen said. “So, now I’m confused about this whole thing. I don’t know what I did that night, if I’m being honest.”

He continued, saying, “We really did hit it off, which is unfortunate, because he might not exist, from what I am hearing.”

Rogen then revealed he did get this mystery person’s number, so perhaps he’ll learn the truth soon.

It’s likely Rogen is confused about who he was with that night, because Megan doesn’t actually have any siblings; she noted in a 2019 Vulture interview, “Everybody asks me, ‘How did you get so confident? Or how are you this? How did you grow into this?’ And I’m like, ‘Look, I was the only child, so I had a lot of time spent by myself,’ and I feel like when you spend a lot of time by yourself, you get to know yourself.”

Check out the clip from Rogen’s interview above.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
