Selena Gomez Gave Her Best Miley Cyrus Impersonation During Her Opening Monologue On ‘SNL’
Selena Gomez is not unfamiliar with the Saturday Night Live stage. Back in 2016, the singer made her debut on the show where she served as the musical guest and performed “Hands To Myself,” “Same Old Love,” and “Good For You.” Six years later, the multi-talented act found herself back on the SNL, but this time, with different responsibilities. Gomez took over the latest SNL episode — which featured Post Malone as the musical guest — as the show’s host, and she wasted no time entertaining her audience. It began with her opening monologue where she gave her best Miley Cyrus impersonation.
The opening monologue began with Gomez explaining that her role as host for the show was “a big moment for me” as she grew up watching SNL every week with her mother. Gome also revealed that she asked one of her “oldest friends” Miley Cyrus, who’s hosted SNL several times, for hosting advice prior to the show. She then went into a full impersonation of the Plastic Hearts singer telling her to just be herself and “have fun.”
Elsewhere in the SNL episode, Post Malone performed “Cooped Up” and “Love/Hate Letter To Alcohol.” The first performance was done with Roddy Ricch on stage while the second was of a track that’s set to feature Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes.

Selena Gomez And Post Malone Are Labeled As ‘Divas’ In An ‘SNL’ Promo
Two Texas favorites will be heading to Rockefeller Studios this weekend for Saturday Night Live. Selena Gomez will host Saturday’s episode for the first time, and Post Malone will perform. Ahead of the upcoming episode, Selena and Posty joined SNL cast members Aidy Bryant and Bowen Yang for a promo video. In it, the two singers are labeled as “divas” while Posty, Bryant, and Yang inform Gomez that they sort of accidentally put ants into her pants.
Gomez’s appearance comes ahead of the premiere of season 2 of Only Murders In The Building, which streams on Hulu beginning June 28. A few weeks earlier, Malone will release his fourth studio album Twelve Carat Toothache on June 3.
Malone released Twelve Carat Toothache‘s lead single, “Cooped Up,” which features Roddy Rich. When speaking of the song, Malone told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “The lyrics just came so quickly. We knew what we wanted to say and we knew what we wanted to express, not only in the song but in that particular moment on the album. And yeah, it just came super naturally. I couldn’t even tell you. I was probably on the sh*tter when I wrote it [laughs].”
Continuing on the album, Malone said Twelve Carat Toothache is “the most honest record I’ve made.”
Catch Selena Gomez and Post Malone on Saturday Night Live this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. EST.

Gomez has performed on the show before, but this will be her first time hosting. The actress has been busy over the last year, launching a new mental health site and filming the second season of the surprisingly good Hulu series Only Murders In The Building alongside former SNL castmember Steve Martin and Martin Short. Perhaps Martin will show up for a cameo?
The second season of Only Murders will air this summer, featuring new cast members Cara Delevingne, Michael Rapaport, and Amy Schumer. The show follows a group of armchair detectives whose love of true crime podcasts lead them to solve various mysteries around their swanky New York City apartment building.
Post Malone is also slated to make his SNL debut ahead of his upcoming album, Twelve Carat Toothache, which drops June 3rd. He is gearing up to play a handful of festivals later this summer. The rapper also announced he is expecting his first child earlier this week.
It’s unclear if SNL favorite, and Post Malone’s pal, Pete Davidson will be back for this episode, as he is famously absent from a lot of the show. He’s been busy!
[WATCH] Selena Gomez Reveals She Is Happier Since Staying Off the Internet For Four Years
Selena Gomez revealed she hasn’t been on the internet in four years despite being one of Instagram’s most-followed.
As we all know, anyone can go down a rabbit hole on the internet. Depending on what stage you are in during life, your mental health may or may not be affected by the glamorous, judgemental and sometimes wicked ways of the web.
While speaking to Good Morning America, Gomez said she hasn’t used the Internet and she is much happier as a result.
“I haven’t been on the Internet in four and a half years,” she said. “It has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present. I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
Despite being one of the most followed people on Instagram, Gomez reveals that the app is not even on her phone!
“I think it’s just become really unhealthy,” Gomez said previously on Live With Kelly & Ryan in 2019. “To spend time fixating on all these comments and letting this stuff in, it was affecting me. It would make me depressed. It would make me feel not good about myself, and look at my body differently.”
The actress has been very vocal about her struggles with her mental health and bipolar disorder, the Internet is just one step she’s taking to ensure she is on her road to happier living.
Could you live without the internet?

Olivia Rodrigo, DMX, And Travis Scott Lead Google’s Top Trending Searches Of 2021
At the end of every year, Google shares lists of the top trending searches in various categories, which they note “are based on search terms that had the highest spike this year as compared to the previous year.” Now they’ve dropped their 2021 rankings and a lot of music figures have found their way on the lists.
Globally, DMX was the tenth top-trending search overall, due largely to his death earlier this year. On the top songs list, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” leads the rank and is followed by a pair of Lil Nas X songs: “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and the Jack Harlow collaboration “Industry Baby.”
When you narrow down to the top trends of just the United States, DMX is the second biggest trend overall. Meanwhile, Travis Scott and Morgan Wallen are both in the top ten top-trending people. Musicians also have a firm hold over the “celebrities search together” category: “Kim and Kanye” are No. 1, followed by “Kanye and Jeffree Star” (No. 4), “Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal” (No. 5), “JLo and A-Rod” (No. 6), “Ben Affleck and JLo” (No. 9), and “Selena Gomez and Chris Evans” (No. 10).
As far as the music-specific lists for the US, Scott leads under “musicians and bands,” while “Drivers License” is the top trend under songs.
There are more music-related searches sprinkled throughout the lists, so find the global trends here and the US trends here.

Instead Of Retiring, Cardi B Thinks Selena Gomez Should Enter ‘A Bad B*tch Era’
A new Vogue cover story about Selena Gomez features a disheartening quote from Gomez, in which she suggests that she’s thinking about retiring from music due to a lack of respect. Gomez said, “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. […] I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”
Given that Gomez has been one of the most successful pop stars of the past decade, there are plenty of people who’d rather she stay in the music game. One of those folks is Cardi B, with whom Gomez collaborated on DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki.” Instead of retiring, Cardi thinks that Gomez should try entering “a bad b*tch era.”
Last night, Cardi tweeted, “I don’t think Selena should retire .She makes good music & her fans love her .I think she needs one more Era. A edgy one that no one ever seen her as .I would love to give her some ideas.” She continued, “I like Selena tho .I defend her cause she is such a sweetheart in person.Us celebs get picked apart all the time but she is just to sweet to go thru that.If she wants to leave ,leave cause you want too not cause of these f*ckers.” Cardi then concluded, “A bad b*tch era is needed tho ‘A b*tch I’m nice sweet girl but I’m a rich bad b*tch too.’”
