Bad Bunny Hilariously Addressed NBC’s ‘Speaking In Non-English’ Controversy In His ‘Saturday Night Live’ Opening Monologue

Bad Bunny pulled double duty tonight (October 21) on Saturday Night Live, as both the host and the musical performer for this week’s episode. His new album title, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana, translates to “Nobody Knows What’s Going To Happen Tomorrow,” but we can bet this record will bring in a promising season in his career.

Kicking off the show with a bang, Bad Bunny delivered a humorous opening monologue, during which, he assured the audience that he is capable of hosting the show in both English in Spanish.

“I can order McDonald’s in English, I can have sex in English, but I prefer sex in Spanish,” Bunny said.

He continued, delivering his monologue in Spanish, and during this portion, a subtitle reading “Speaking In Non-English” appeared on-screen. This alludes to a situation last season, when Pedro Pascal was hosting, and delivering his opening monologue in Spanish. The subtitles read “Speaking In Non-English,” to the chagrin of Spanish speakers.

Bunny was not having this, and immediately asked the powers that be to make the necessary corrections.

The subtitle then read “Speaking In Sexier Language.”

Shortly after, Pascal himself made a surprise appearance in the monologue.

Tonight marks the Puerto Rican superstar’s first time hosting SNL, his second time as the show’s musical guest, and his third overall appearance. In April 2020, Bunny appeared in a special “at-home” episode of SNL at the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and performed as the musical guest in a February 2021 episode, with Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page hosting.

You can see Bad Bunny’s full opening monologue above.

Bad Bunny Tells Heidi Gardner ‘Don’t Go’ To Puerto Rico In His Hilarious ‘Saturday Night Live’ Promo

On the heels of his new album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana, Bad Bunny is gearing up to host Saturday Night Live this weekend. Over the course of the past week, SNL has teased Bunny’s appearance with a picture of the Puerto Rican superstar at the table read. Tonight (October 19), SNL has shared the promo for Bunny’s upcoming appearance.

In the promo, Bunny and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner tease the episode. Gardner tells Bunny, “I’ve always wanted to go to ‘Porto Rico.’”

Bunny then corrects her, with the right pronunciation of Puerto Rico.

Gardner continues to mispronounce Puerto Rico, and in response, Bunny simply tells Gardner, “You know what? Don’t go, please.”

In another promo, Gardner tells Bunny how much she loves the message of his music. But she can’t quite explain why she does. Not because Bunny’s music is primarily in Spanish, but because the lyrics are too hot for TV. The final promo features Bunny pushing away a mosquito from a terrified Gardner.

You can see all three promotional clips above.

Bad Bunny’s episode of Saturday Night Live will air this Saturday (October 21) at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC, and will also stream on Peacock.

Bad Bunny Throws Jabs At Himself During A Hilarious, Wrestling-Style Video Ahead Of His ‘SNL’ Episode

Bad Bunny is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, in support of his new album, and it seems he’s already getting in on the laughs. In a new promo video on social media, it pokes fun at a wrestling format as an announcer (played by James Austin Johnson) greets Bad Bunny as his “normal” self Benito.

“How we feeling, Benito? Nervous?” Johnson asks.

“Hell no,” he responds.

Then, he is interrupted by none other than himself, as the Bad Bunny image. “Shut up, dummy,” his alter ego says. “I’m here.” He walks into the room wearing dark sunglasses and a wrestling belt slung over his shoulder.

“I’ve got a weekend update for you, amigo,” Bad Bunny tells his normal Benito counterpart. “You suck… You put the ‘L’ in SNL.”

“Please turn on my subtitles,” Benito tells the crew, before speaking in Spanish. “Thank you, because this idiot doesn’t know how to read… I’m gonna break your face, asshole!”

Benito and Bad Bunny exchange jabs at each other, similar to the roasts that happen on a regular wrestling night. At the end, the two stand face-to-face for a staredown, as Johnson encourages viewers to tune in this weekend.

Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Got Handsy Backstage At SNL

Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live returned for its first new show since the end of the Writer’s strike. The show was a pretty major affair featuring the return of former cast member Pete Davidson as host for the first time. It also featured one of the breakout stars in all of music this year Ice Spice making her debut as a performer on the show. Spice brought one of her friends along as well. During the VMAs last month, Taylor Swift took home a number of awards and was sitting next to Ice Spice all night. The pair collaborated on a remix of Swift’s song “Karma” earlier this year.

Taylor was present for Spice’s debut on SNL, even introducing the singer herself. Swift’s new boyfriend Travis Kelce was there as well, making a surprise appearance during a skit about the singer. Now, a source opened up to Page Six about their behavior backstage during the show. More specifically that “they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other.” While another source described them as “touchy-feely” they were also described as “cute and very supportive of each other.” Read the full statements below.

Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce At SNL

Taylor Swift was also present at Kelce’s most recent football game. She’s made a habit of attending the games and the cameras are always able to find her celebrating when Travis catches passes. She was present on Thursday to see the Chiefs beat the division-rival Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

Taylor also recently dropped her massively successful Eras Tour concert film. The movie broke box office records in its first weekend and had a star-studded premiere that featured an appearance from Beyonce. Bey just wrapped up her own pretty massive summer tour which is getting its own film later this year. What do you think of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported behavior behind the scenes at SNL? Ice Spice Is “In Ha Mood” For “Saturday Night Live” Performance

The Saturday Night Live stage is an iconic one in pop culture, whether for its famous performances, massive stars, or the celebrities that introduce them onto it. Moreover, for the sketch comedy show’s season premiere on Saturday (October 14), they went all-out to create a pretty big moment to kick things off. Pete Davidson hosted the whole affair, marking his hilarious, poignant, and shot-taking return to SNL. Not only that, but none other than Taylor Swift was the one to introduce the episode’s performer to the stage. With one of her biggest hits and her newest one, Ice Spice rocked the legendary TV show to the core.

Of course, once fans heard this news a couple of weeks back, they went absolutely ballistic at this prospect. The Bronx rapper is having arguably the most dominant and definitive 2023 of the whole game, at the very least for rising artists. In fact, it’s a stretch to say that she’s even an up-and-comer right now; she basically made it to the top. Regardless of that whole debate, Ice Spice still came through to impress, and ran through “In Ha Mood” with her trademark confidence.

In addition, the 23-year-old also debuted her newest single, “Pretty Girl” with Rema, who she brought onstage to join her. It’s a pretty new sound for Ice Spice, with a slightly slower tempo and more breezy and summery instrumentation. The song takes some Afrobeats and dancehall inspirations, as well as a Jersey kick pattern, to create a pretty genre-fusing cut. Of course, a lot of that consideration is thanks to Rema, whose gorgeous voice and flow inject a lot of personality into the rap diva’s already charismatic verses.

Meanwhile, one can only dream of what the “Princess Diana” star is going to do next. Maybe it will be more commercial opportunities and high-profile appearances, or maybe she’s hard at work on her full-length debut. Either way, it’s clear that she wants to end the year as strong as she started it, and there’s not a soul in the world that can blame her. Pete Davidson Shades Kanye West In “Barbie”-Inspired “SNL” Skit, Poses With Ice Spice & Speaks On War

Pete Davidson was a staple on the Saturday Night Live stage for the better part of his career, but it wasn’t so long ago that the New Yorker decided to walk away from that world. While he isn’t ready to rejoin the cast quite yet as he continues to prioritize his mental health, Davidson was able to commit to hosting the latest episode, during which he couldn’t resist making a dig at Kanye West. The comedian and rapper previously exchanged heated blows on social media during the former’s brief relationship with Kim Kardashian, which first sparked amid her tumultuous split from Ye.

For one of his skits on Saturday (October 14) evening, the Bodies Bodies Bodies actor channelled his inner Ken to re-imagine a scene from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. While rewriting the lyrics to “I’m Just Ken,” Davidson managed to perfectly poke fun at his “butthole eyes,” as well as his expansive dating history. Mid-way through the cover, shots at West and the unusual nickname he previously gave his op went out. “People online still call me Skete because I’m a guy whose name I can’t say legally,” he sings before the camera flashes to a photo of the father of four.

Those in attendance for the live taping couldn’t help but giggle at the quip, and it certainly wasn’t the only noteworthy moment Davidson had during his SNL return. While giving his cold open speech, the multi-talent poignantly addresses the situation taking place overseas at the moment, which hits particularly close to home seeing as his own father was a victim of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Ice Spice And Rema Grooved Out In Their ‘Pretty Girl’ Performance On ‘SNL,’ Which Featured A Surprise Taylor Swift Appearance

Ice Spice maintained her momentum during her first ever Saturday Night Live appearance. In her first performance of the night, Ice delivered a killer performance of her hit single, “In Ha Mood.” Later on, she performed her latest single “Pretty Girl” with Afro-fusion star Rema.

Upon her return, Ice was introduced by her friend and her “Karma” collaborator Taylor Swift. Ice and Rema then took to the stage, grooving to the beat of their song, as a kaleidoscopic spotlight displayed colorful patterns upon the pair. While the song was only just released this past Friday, the two displayed a clear musical chemistry as they were on stage.

Over the past few months, Ice has collaborated with Nicki Minaj and Swift, partnered with Dunkin’, and won the Best New Artist award at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Now, she can add SNL to her resume. In an interview with The Guardian, Ice shared that she feels elated to watch her dreams manifest in real-time.

“I always felt like I could do anything I tried to do, but especially now it feels like anything is possible,” Ice said “Being at award shows, being on magazine covers, getting huge features – all those moments made me feel like: ‘Wow, we’re really doing it big.’”

And this is just the beginning.

Ice Spice Was ‘In Ha Mood’ In Her Flashy Pink ‘Saturday Night Live’ Debut

Ice Spice is running New York City. With several hits under her belt, like “Munch” and “Deli,” the breakthrough rapper has quickly become the face of New York drill. Earlier this month, she covered Variety‘s New York issue. Tonight (October 14), she accomplished another New York milestone — performing on Saturday Night Live.

In her first performance on the season 49 premiere on SNL — which was hosted by fellow New Yorker, Pete Davidson, Ice took to the stage in a performance of her viral hit, “In Ha Mood.”

Joined by two background dancers, Ice commanded the stage, grooving to the beat as flashing pink lights shined upon them. She and her pretty girl clique wowed a cheering crowd.

Performing on Saturday Night Live is surely a nervewracking experience, especially if it’s an artist’s first time, however, Ice maintained her confidence throughout the set.

As she reps her hometown with pride, performing on SNL is a career milestone for Ice. In her Variety interview, she shared that no amount of fame or notoriety could make her forget her New York roots.

“B*tch, just because I spent $100,000 in Chanel doesn’t mean I’m no longer from New York. Like, hello?,” Ice said.

Ice Spice To Perform “Saturday Night Live” With Pete Davidson As Host

Ice Spice will be the first musical guest to host Saturday Night Live following the recent Writers’ Guild of America and Screen Actors’ Guild strikes. NBC announced that she will perform while former cast member Pete Davidson hosts the episode. The appearance will mark Ice Spice’s late-night TV debut.

Spice hasn’t commented on what songs she’ll be performing, but she’s built a small catalog of hits over the last year with songs like “Barbie World,” “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2,” “Deli,” “In Ha Mood,” “Princess Diana,” “Munch” and more from which to choose. It’s also likely she performs in a skit on the show, as she’s spoken about her interest in acting in the past. Speaking with Ebro Darden on Hot 97, she previously revealed she also thought she’d make it as an actor. “I didn’t ever really like see myself being a rapper,” she said. “I always wanted to be an actress.
