Olivia Rodrigo Said Her Breakthrough Single ‘Drivers License’ Is ‘100% About’ Adam Driver In A Hilarious ‘SNL’ Promo

This week’s Saturday Night Live episode boasts an exciting line-up. On Saturday (December 9), Adam Driver will host the show ahead of the premiere of his upcoming movie Ferrari. Olivia Rodrigo, who, earlier this year, released her critically acclaimed sophomore album Guts, will serve as this week’s musical guest.

Ahead of the broadcast, NBC has shared the official promo for this show, featuring Driver, Rodrigo, and Heidi Gardner. In the clip, the trio calls back to Rodrigo’s breakthrough single, “Drivers License.”

“Okay, this is awkward,” said Gardner in the clip. “Olivia Rodrigo and the guy she wrote a song about.”

Driver then asked “which song?” to which Gardner replied, “Drivers License.” She continued, saying “Adam Driver,” emphasizing the actors last name.

Playing defense, Driver replied, saying “that song’s not about me.”

Rodrigo then replied, saying, “It’s 100% about you.”

While we all appreciate a good pun, it’s safe to assume this is a joke. Rodrigo explained in an interview on Today that she will likely never reveal who each of her songs are about.

“I think explanation is never good for art,” says Rodrigo. “Why would I pigeonhole a song into being about this one thing in my life, when everyone has their own interpretation?”

Saturday Night Live airs at 11 p.m. EST on NBC and streams live simultaneously on Peacock.

Bad Bunny Tells Heidi Gardner ‘Don’t Go’ To Puerto Rico In His Hilarious ‘Saturday Night Live’ Promo

On the heels of his new album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana, Bad Bunny is gearing up to host Saturday Night Live this weekend. Over the course of the past week, SNL has teased Bunny’s appearance with a picture of the Puerto Rican superstar at the table read. Tonight (October 19), SNL has shared the promo for Bunny’s upcoming appearance.

In the promo, Bunny and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner tease the episode. Gardner tells Bunny, “I’ve always wanted to go to ‘Porto Rico.’”

Bunny then corrects her, with the right pronunciation of Puerto Rico.

Gardner continues to mispronounce Puerto Rico, and in response, Bunny simply tells Gardner, “You know what? Don’t go, please.”

In another promo, Gardner tells Bunny how much she loves the message of his music. But she can’t quite explain why she does. Not because Bunny’s music is primarily in Spanish, but because the lyrics are too hot for TV. The final promo features Bunny pushing away a mosquito from a terrified Gardner.

You can see all three promotional clips above.

Bad Bunny’s episode of Saturday Night Live will air this Saturday (October 21) at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC, and will also stream on Peacock.

Lil Baby Steals Michael B. Jordan’s Valentine’s Date In A Cheeky ‘SNL’ Promo

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so if you haven’t already got your plans in order, you might as well buckle down for a lonely night in.

Michael B. Jordan learns this lesson the hard way in the new promo for SNL, which he’ll host this week. In the second of the three bits, cast member Heidi Gardner makes a pass at him, hoping to get chose for V-Day, but when Mike snoozes, he loses the opportunity to musical guest Lil Baby.

The trio also has some fun with Lil Baby’s stage name in another bit, while in the third, Heidi’s Michael Buffer impression falls flat when she misidentifies Baby’s place of origin as Alaska instead of Atlanta. That could make for one awkward date!

Throughout the clip, it looks like all three are having fun, even if the rapper has a little bit of a “deer in headlights” look to him — which is understandable, considering he’s stepping out of his element. However, his one-time partner-in-rhyme Gunna acquitted himself well in some sketches when he appeared on SNL, so perhaps Lil Baby will surprise us too.

Baby is fresh off the release of his third album, It’s Only Me, which dropped back in October. It’s nice to see he’s still pushing it, considering how quickly artists move on from their projects these days.

Gunna Plays Along With A Very Silly Joke In The Latest ‘SNL’ Promo

Sometimes, SNL promos can be very silly. This occasionally works to their benefit, especially when one or more of the trio of stars making them gets to play the unassuming straight man. Usually, this is the musical guest and the effectiveness of the bit depends on how game they are. Some guests are super good at this, like they’re in on the joke, while some (coughcoughBadBunnycoughcough) aren’t great. Shockingly, this week’s musical guest, Gunna, falls into the former category, mostly by pretending he’s going to land in the latter one ’til the last second.

Of course, guest host Jerrod Carmichael does the necessary setup, introducing Gunna, and hands it off the Heidi Gardner, who lights the fuse. “Guys, let’s a promise right now that we’re all gonna bring our A-game this week,” she says, somehow keeping a straight face. “Jerrod gonna,” Jerrod replies. Heidi maintains that straight face, even though we all know what’s coming: “You know Heidi gonna.” Both expectantly side-eye the stone-faced rapper, who looks for all the world like he resolutely refuses to make the joke.

… A loooong pause…

“Gunna gonna.”

You know, as hard as I tried not to, I laughed. Good for Gunna. Good for Heidi. Good for Jerrod. Great for all of us. A job well done.
