Afroman Confirms Death Of L.A. Rapper Lil Sodi

Los Angeles rapper Lil Sodi has tragically passed away, Afroman recently confirmed via Instagram. Moreover, the two were close collaborators in the scene, going on tour together and working on many different ventures together within hip-hop. In fact, they were in the middle of a tour, and he shared a post mourning his friend and partner on Friday (August 4). However, he did not reveal exactly when Sodi passed away, and also did not disclose a cause of death. As such, it’s unclear whether that it still unknown information or if the South Central MC just wants to maintain privacy.

Furthermore, in his tribute post, Afroman included various dove emojis, prayer hands, a peace sign, and a blue heart. Not only that, but various other figures from within the rap landscape came forward with their own messages of sympathy, grief, and support. For example, Adam22 tweeted some pictures of them together and wished Lil Sodi well on his journey, as he had interviewed him for No Jumper back in 2021. In addition, the one and only DJ Premier hit the comments of Afroman’s post to share his condolences to Sodi’s family.

Afroman Pays Tribute To Lil Sodi

“Some of the worst news of an incredible human being!” Preemo expressed under Afroman’s snap. “Damn sure gonna miss you Sodi. Condolences to your family.” What’s more is that this news is made all the more tragic because of what Lil Sodi should’ve been celebrating recently. Just this week, on Thursday (August 3), he had released the EP Too Good For HELL Too Bad For HEAVEN, and should’ve been able to continue his career and life as he pleased. Surely more information in the coming days will illuminate the tragedy.

Meanwhile, fans of him will remember his storied and prolific career within West Coast hip-hop and beyond. Over the 2010s, he worked with the likes of Freddie Gibbs and developed a strong local following with other rappers in the area. As a rising voice in the seen, one day we will see the fruits of his labor, and his peers will continuously honor his memory. For more news and the latest updates on Lil Sodi and Afroman, keep checking in with HNHH.
Rest In Peace Lil Sodi.

Drakeo The Ruler Slides On New Single, “I’m The Reason”

Drakeo The Ruler is without a doubt one of the most unique and impactful voices in contemporary West Coast hip-hop, a trait that his posthumous material still lets shine. Moreover, a new single titled “I’m The Reason” just released, and it’s every bit as brooding, bouncy, and boisterous as you would expect. It might fit well within his established style, but the tragic end of his career means that there was so much more left in the vault to develop and expand upon. With that context in mind, tracks like these only serve to further cement his legacy today, and “I’m The Reason” does so while speaking to his idiosyncrasy as an MC.

Furthermore, the instrumental here is a solid combination of dark, minimal percussion and brighter, more atmospheric synth pads and key leads. While we’ve heard bounces like these before, it’s still welcome in a rap landscape in which Los Angeles is not one of the sonic zeitgeists. As such, Drakeo The Ruler breathes life into the style with his unique vocal delivery, a mix of whispery and menacing bars plus some nasal inflections. In addition, the South Central rapper cycles through a few similar but nonetheless catchy flows that fit his trademark drawl like a glove. Sure, it sounds low-key at first, but once you pick up on a couple of sharp and infectious bars here, it unlocks a new layer of confidence and quality.

Juice WRLD’s Producer Says He Has Hundreds Of Rock Songs In The Vault

Juice WRLD is one of those artists whose unreleased artists and leaks’ acclaimed status rivals that of his officially released material. What’s more is that what’s left in the Chicago artist’s vault only further shows his versatility, influences, and talents as an artist. Although we unfortunately won’t get to see him curate this material himself, he made a lot of great music on this Earth- even if fans gravitate to their preferred style of his. Moreover, a fan recently mentioned Juice as an artist making true-blue rap and not rock-infused material, and lamenting his loss because of it. Then, his producer Nick Mira responded by stating that he was heavily influenced by- and made plenty of- rock music.

“Music is so trash right now, I miss juice,” the tweet in question began. “Ik he would never follow this punk/rock theme that all these artist are trying to follow now. That era needs to be left alone we want real quality rap music!” While whether you agree with that statement is a different story. Still, naming Juice WRLD as an outsider to rock is a mistake, according to Nick Mira.

Juice WRLD’s Producer Sets The Record Straight

“Juice was heavily influenced by punk, rock, alternative, emo music,” Mira quote-tweeted on Sunday (July 2) in response. “We breathed it naturally and expressed it in a rap form/pop form. Juice’s music is the epitome of multiple genres forming a unique sound. He has hundreds of rock songs in the vault of all different subgenres.” In addition, even within his rap-centric songs, he pulled in so many different influences across all genres. Whether it’s aesthetically, melodically, or sonically, it’s impossible to box in Juice WRLD’s output.

Meanwhile, there is still plenty of the “Doomsday” artist’s hip-hop music to enjoy that sees the light of day. Fore example, his teased and very anticipated collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Young Thug just officially released, titled “Money.” Of course, there will surely be much more amazing music to come from him. On that note, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Juice WRLD.

King Von’s Upcoming Posthumous Album “Grandson” Divides Fans

Grandson will be King Von’s next posthumous release, as his estate recently announced via social media. Moreover, the project is scheduled to release on July 14, and the cover art features a black and white picture of the rapper’s son wearing a fitted hat and OTF and O’Block chains. While this is obviously very exciting news for fans, it’s also something that made them cautious and skeptical. After all, other posthumous releases are bloated, disrespectful, or poorly put together in fans’ eyes. As such, the comments section under the announcement split fans into optimistic excitement and wary assessment.

Of course, plenty of comments just feature fire and heart emojis, indicating a simple but powerful support of the album and King Von’s musical legacy. “Finally! This gonna slap. We ready,” one fan expressed. “Please don’t give us dry a** features that Von prolly wouldn’t have did ready to hear this tho fasho,” another wrote. If his most recent single “Robberies” is anything to go by, though, this will probably still hold itself to a higher standard of quality. Still, some fans have the worst-case scenario in mind, which has unfortunately affected a lot of deceased artists’ posthumous work.

King Von’s Estate Announces Grandson For July 14 Release

“Stop milking this dead mans music and let him rest,” one user commented under the announcement of Grandson. “bro is they doing what i think they doin ……….. A.I genarated,” another feared, although that’s purely speculation. “Don’t f**k this album up gang,” another replied bluntly. Even though these doubts exist for fans, there’s also just as many people ready to support his estate and to celebrate what could’ve been of King Von’s career. Perhaps it will end up being one of the more acclaimed hip-hop albums of the year, and even the fans who are naysayers hope that’s the case.

Meanwhile, the Chicago MC continues to inspire stories around his life, struggles, and lasting impact as an artist. Many who blasted a recent documentary about his criminal life dedicate themselves to preserving his memory in more positive ways. Von’s estate knows the pressure, and hopefully (and probably) won’t taint his catalog for a quick buck. For more news and the latest updates on King Von, check back in with HNHH.

Lil Uzi Vert Speaks On Paying For Lotta Cash Desto’s Funeral

The tragic death of frequent Lil Uzi Vert collaborator Lotta Cash Desto in a drive-by shooting shocked them profoundly. For those unaware, Desto was killed in September of 2022, and the Memphis rapper was just starting to establish herself as a rising name to watch. While Uzi didn’t speak out on this publicly too much, they did a lot behind the scenes to honor her legacy and pay tribute to her memory. Moreover, they just spoke briefly on the subject on the track “Days Come and Go” off of their latest album Pink Tape. In a set of bars, the Philly star spoke on paying for her funeral costs.

“I got too much on my mind, too much on my plate,” Lil Uzi Vert rapped on the song. “I spent two-hundred thousand on Desto funeral, that’s an estate / I don’t know why they be mad at me, ’cause I’m expressin’ my ways.” Overall, the track is among the more somber and emotive cuts on the album, and this line certainly adds to that weight in the tracklist. In addition, during her funeral, the 27-year-old spoke earnestly and lovingly of their relationship with Lotta Cash Desto.

Lil Uzi Vert Addresses Lotta Cash Desto’s Funeral

“I ain’t gon’ lie this don’t even feel real to me,” Lil Uzi Vert expressed during the services. “Destinee was always on my hip everywhere I go. I had got in some trouble and they put me away I had to go to a rehab program and all that. She called me every day. Even if she called to argue with me, she called me every day and that’s what counted.” While there are many standout lyrical moments on Pink Tape, this one made for one of the album’s most powerful and saddening narratives.

Meanwhile, another lyrical focus that fans picked up on was Uzi confirming their sexual orientation. “First of all, I f**k eight b***hes a day / How could you ever say Lil Uzi gay?” they rap on the opener “Flooded The Face.” Over the next few weeks, we’re sure we’ll be picking up on a lot more that they had to say on their highly-anticipated album. Juice WRLD’s Ex Ally Lotti Allegedly Selling Memorabilia For $30K Online

The tragic passing of Juice WRLD continues to affect fans to this day, but they also continue celebrating his legacy with fondness. However, one large point of contention has been how much others should profit off of his name. The most recent piece of that puzzle concerns memorabilia like clothing items and accessories that he owned. At the very least, those closest to him seem to be making sure that these items are respected and authentic for fans that wish to buy them and support his loved ones. Moreover, the Chicago star’s ex-girlfriend, Ally Lotti, is reportedly selling various pieces for $30K, a price that’s apparently the total value of what she offered according to alleged DMs.

“Well I’m not truing to sell so I don’t have a price in mind,” Lotti wrote concerning Juice WRLD’s pieces according to supposed leaked screenshots of Instagram messages. “I got you on like a package deal or something but like it said this stuff is pretty priceless to me and is only going to be worth more money in the future. I would like to be walking away with like 30k honestly you know. So what’s your budget? We can figure out what we can do.”

Juice WRLD’s Ex Allegedly Selling Some Of His Items

In addition, fan pages put items up for sale for $40K individually after they allegedly verified their authenticity with the late legend’s ex. “I am selling the coveted Transparent Prism Louis Vuitton backpack that was once owned by the late and beloved Juice WRLD,” a fan page posted, later clarifying that they sought $40K for it. “This unique piece is not only a symbol of style but also a valuable collector’s item with a fascinating backstory. To ensure transparency and authenticity, I have acquired this backpack with the assistance of Ally Lotti, Juice WRLD’s ex-girlfriend, who was kind enough to provide proof and direct messages regarding its ownership.”

Furthermore, they asked for serious offers only, offered to share said DMs and negotiate price, and stressed the value of buyer satisfaction. Also, other pictures surfaced of alleged DMs of Lotti showing off other pieces like a shirt and eyewear. While many in the comments of coverage of this alleged sale expressed disappointment, those involved’s intentions can’t be assumed. Meanwhile, amid posthumous new music releases and incredible commercial success, his legacy keeps engaging fans. For more news and the latest updates on Juice WRLD, log back into HNHH.

King Von Resorts To “Robberies” On New Posthumous Single

While people continue to speak on the legal issues that King Von was wrapped up in before his tragic passing, his musical legacy speaks louder than any headline could. With more new music presumably on the way, we have a new posthumous single from the Chicago MC with “Robberies.” Moreover, the track once again proves how talented and vivid of a storyteller he is in his tracks about street life and hardships. Of course, the beat here doesn’t slouch, and turns the narrative into a banging and engaging song that locks listeners in to his bars. Overall, this is an exciting look at the future of his musical output, which hopefully is treated with respect, consideration, and his family’s wishes in mind.

To start with the instrumental (courtesy of ATL Jacob), menacing and high-pitched strings form an intoxicating triplet pattern to lead the melody on “Robberies.” By the time the drums kick in, the track already entranced you, and King Von’s voice rings through in the production in a way that makes the drums hit even harder. Sure, it’s not the most progressive or evolutionary instrumental, but extra bells and whistles could’ve easily dampened the narrative at hand. As such, it’s exactly the kind of beat that the What It Means To Be King rhymer floats on with ease, and that compliments the rough yet delicate nature of his bars.

King Von’s “Robberies”: Stream

Lyrically, he focuses on having to resort to robbery to make a buck for himself amid an eviction notice. With that in mind, he represents the struggle behind his criminal activity in a way that paints it as a means to an end and not a particularly enjoyable or desired experience. Also, King Von’s verse goes from robbing somebody to that person eventually running up on him, making for a clean and satisfying circular narrative despite its dark content. Still, let us know how you felt about “Robberies” in the comments or find it on your preferred streaming service if you haven’t checked it out already. In addition, peep some standout bars below and return to HNHH for the latest great releases in hip-hop.

George Floyd’s Sister LaTonya Says She Forgives His Killer Derek Chauvin

Thursday (May 25) marked the three-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death, a Black man who was killed by white police officer Derek Chauvin after he was suspected of using a counterfeit 20-dollar bill. His unjust murder led to a wave of protests, calls for reform, and a widespread resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, whose story spans centuries back and continues to be a crucial fight for social equality and justice to this day. Recently, Floyd’s sister LaTonya reflected on Chauvin’s actions during a documentary screening on a statue dedicated to Floyd. Her remarks caused conversation among communities, but were nonetheless powerful.

“America might think I’m crazy for saying this, but I have to get this off my chest,” LaTonya Floyd told FOX 26. “At this point, three years down the line, I do forgive Derek Chauvin for what he did. It’s not okay that he did it, okay? But I have to forgive him in order to move forth with my life. I’ve been running around in circles, he’ll tell you, I have been going through a whole lot. If that higher power don’t forgive us, we’re nothing, we’re lost, we’re out of there.

George Floyd’s Sister Forgives Derek Chauvin

“I can’t keep living my life with this anger that’s going to form to hate, such as he had,” she continued. “It’s going to lead to me doing something like that because I’m mad, I’m angry. I can’t live with that in me. So I pray for him and I pray that he finds peace within himself. I pray that next time he kneel down, he’s kneeling down to help someone up and not hold them down. God has a plan for everybody. I pray for Derek and I do forgive you. If you are listening, may the peace of God be with you man.”

Many believe that such acts should never be forgiven, as social media discussion of her message indicates. Chauvin is currently serving his 22-and-a-half-year sentence for the incident. However, the most important voice in each victim’s stories is that of their families. After so much pain and suffering, but also progress and awareness following their loved one’s passing, the Floyd family is healing in their own ways. Rest In Peace George Floyd, and deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who fought and keep fighting for justice.

Takeoff Murder Suspect Indicted

Reports indicate that a grand jury formally indicted suspect Patrick Xavier Clark for the murder of Takeoff in Houston. Moreover, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that authorities officially charged Clark on Thursday morning (May 25). The Migos rapper, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, died on November 1 in a shooting outside of a private bowling alley party that left two other individuals injured. Previously, much speculation surged in the media concerning Clark’s whereabouts, status under officials who arrested him, and other factors in the case. Now, it seems like a formal trial will follow suit and finally give the MC’s loved ones at least some sort of closure and peace.

Furthermore, police confirmed their arrest of Clark back in December of 2022. Since then, not much came out concerning his status, especially after authorities released him on a $1 million bond. Before that, officials set bond at $2 million, and his release became odder when news broke that neither his family nor Clark himself put up the money for his freedom. “A concerned citizen and family friend who believes in Patrick’s innocence posted the bond on his behalf,” his attorney Letitia D. Quinones told KTVU News. “Like any other defendant, Patrick is presumed to be innocent and has the right to bond. He also has an obligation to comply with all the terms the court has laid out.”

Murder Suspect In Takeoff’s Case Formally Charged

Meanwhile, reports also emerged that Clark sought to claim self-defense in the case. “We feel comfortable that when the time is right that Mr. Clark will have a valid and meritorious claim for self-defense,” one of his lawyers reportedly stated according to the Associated Press. In addition, Clark vowed to move in with his parents in court, amid efforts to reduce his bail and fight back against beliefs that he was a flight risk. After all, he reportedly tried to flee to Mexico and get an emergency passport before his arrest for Takeoff’s murder.

While this is promising news for justice, the Migo’s legacy lives on in much more important ways through his loved ones, fans, collaborators, and family alike. Offset’s new album will feature his last Takeoff collaboration, whereas Quave dedicated his next project Rocket Power to him as well. The rap world waits for Clark’s fate, but they will never hesitate to keep Take’s legacy alive. For more updates and the latest news on this case, stay up to date on HNHH.
