Teezo Touchdown is without a doubt one of the most exciting artists working today, with so much vibrance, creativity, and versatility as a rapper, singer, and writer. While he’s gained a lot of fans in the past few years, there’s nothing like a new album to open up the gates for further stardom. Moreover, the Texas native recently announced the release date for his next project, How Do You Sleep At Night?, and shared its cover art. The new LP is scheduled to release on Friday, September 8, and it follows great singles like “5 O’Clock.” If you’ve never heard of Teezo before, join the Rid the Mid campaign and check him out before this drop.
Furthermore, the album’s cover art shows about four different versions of the metal-haired creative laying down on a bed in black-and-white. He seems to be wearing a mesh shirt on the cover, and didn’t remove the nails from his long hair before saying night-night. It’s quite a trippy image, with all the Teezo Touchdown depictions blurring into each other in trippy fashion. Overall, it’s an evocative and eye-catching image that hopefully represents the imaginative and genre-blurring talents that the 30-year-old proved to channel time and time again.
What’s more is that this seems like the perfect time to become a Teezo Touchdown fan if you’re not one already. Many listeners got their introduction to him thanks to “MODERN JAM,” a highlight off of Travis Scott’s massive new album UTOPIA. Teezo’s feature on that cut is reminiscent of André 3000’s acrobatic vocal inflections, with his own original charisma and vocal talents on full display. Maybe it’s a hot take, but he might just be the best feature on the whole project, because when has a Travis song ever had the energy that Teezo brought to the table?
Meanwhile, there are plenty of singles for you to enjoy and catch up on before How Do You Sleep At Night? drops. Kid Cudi is an artist who is incredibly influential in the hip-hop world. Overall, he is one of the reasons why Kanye West pivoted to the sound he was going for on 808s & Heartbreaks. Moreover, Cudi has influenced the likes of Travis Scott. Scott has done a lot with the Cudi blueprint, and these two still have a lot of respect for one another. In fact, there have been talks of a Cudi x Scott album, however, there is no release date. Instead, Cudi believes it is still a possibility, especially given the recent Utopia collab “LOOOVE.”
Now, however, Kid Cudi is focused on his latest endeavor, an album called INSANO. This project has been teased for quite some time, and fans are anticipating a great project. There have been a ton of rumored features here. Names like Travis Scott, Young Thug, and even Lil Yachty have been thrown around. Needless to say, there are plenty of reasons to be excited right now. As for the release date, September has been thrown around. Last night, however, numerous publications and blogs gave us an exact date.
Based on the tweet above, it would appear as though this album will be released on September 15th. However, it doesn’t seem as though Cudi himself has said anything about the release date. That being said, it seems like this release date could just be a rumor and should be approached with some caution. Although, this does line up well with the timeline that Cudi himself had suggested previously. No matter what, fans have every reason to be excited right now.

Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse fame has spent a lot of time working on his next album- and it’s coming out very soon. Moreover, the lyrical master recently announced that his new project Signature will be releasing this Friday, August 11. Of course, given previous singles like “Holy Ghost” with CyHi, “Doors Up,” and “OG,” this should come as little surprise to die-hard fans or casuals alike. What’s more is that this upcoming LP is a full-on collaboration, with the Brooklyn MC enlisting a sole producer behind the boards. L’Orange has lent his adept and vintage sound to each single so far, and will likely give us much more sonic bliss to delve into.
Furthermore, fans expect to be once again blown away by the 43-year-old’s entrancing flows and authoritative demeanor. His sound is one plucked straight out of the hardcore East Coast brand of potent bars and grippingly grimy narratives. Given all that Joell Ortiz has been through and learned throughout his life, his perspective is always a vivid and self-aware one. For example, many of his songs reflect on his unwavering hunger as a rapper and his developing age and outlook.
However, some fans who heard these singles might find that there’s something familiar about them. That’s because Signature seems to be a revamped take on his 2021 album, Autograph. In fact, all the previous singles have two-year-old equivalents on that tape. Still, don’t let that fool you into thinking that there’s nothing to explore or be excited about here. Even the most hardcore Joell Ortiz supporter will find new life in his verses thanks to the darker, more unique production from what singles indicate.
As such, make sure to give Signature a listen when it lands on your preferred music consumption portal on August 11. If you’re a longtime listener, you’ll enjoy listening to these songs with a fresher context and implication given the differing beats. Travis Scott has announced that he will be unveiling his long-awaited fourth studio album, Utopia, during a live-streamed performance in front of the ancient Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. In an Instagram post on Sunday, he confirmed that the event will be going down on Friday, July 28. Tickets will be available in a limited capacity. In a press release, his team described the event as an “unforgettable show that will immerse fans in the world of Utopia.”
Utopia will mark his first full-length release since 2018’s Grammy-nominated Astroworld. In addition to announcing the performance, Scott also revealed that the album will have “five individual artworks,” although he didn’t show them off. Pre-orders are available on Scott’s website.

Fans expressed their excitement in the comments section of Scott’s post. One wrote: “THE DAY THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WILL CHANGE FOREVER.” Another posted: “It’s time boys we finally made it!!!” Other fans weren’t as positive. “Bro jus drop the mf album we don’t care ab no tour or concert ngl,” one user wrote, while another commented: “All this for Carti to drop narcissist and nobody finna listen to Utopia.”
Scott has kept details on the album quiet, although in recent weeks a number of artists have been spotted in public carrying Utopia briefcases. Among them are Bad Bunny, SZA, The Weeknd, and Mike Dean. It’s likely these artists will be credited on the album. Scott also held the briefcase while recreating The Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road album cover.
Despite the new information, Scott has still yet to confirm an official release date for the album. Be on the lookout for that announcement during the performance on in Egypt on July 28.
As one Lil Uzi Vert album releases and a hype cycle ends, another rises from the ashes to take its place. Moreover, after the success and buzz around their latest and highly anticipated album Pink Tape, they are once again in project mode, teasing the release of Luv Is Rage 3. While we don’t know for sure when the series’ next installment will come out, Uzi at least gave us a bit of a hint to go off of. Considering the sheer breadth and variety found on Pink Tape, it wouldn’t be too shocking if the Philly superstar decided to take some significant time before their next release. However, when they dropped their last solo studio album Eternal Atake in 2020, they released two other full projects that year, so maybe this is just their standard strategy.
Furthermore, the “Fire Alarm” rapper was approached on camera recently and was asked when Luv Is Rage 3 would come out. “Oh yeah, that’s coming,” Lil Uzi Vert responded. “Um, not too long. Probably, like… Honestly, I know I usually be lying, but a couple of months.” Well, at least they’re being honest, given just how long fans waited for Pink Tape after much teasing.
Regardless, it was definitely worth it, as the 26-track behemoth is expected to land at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.Pink Tape reportedly sold about 165K album equivalent units in its first week, which makes it the highest hip-hop debut of the year so far. Sure, the numbers might not seem impressive when compared to other No. 1 hip-hop albums that released over the past few years. Still, context is everything, and plenty of factors worked in Lil Uzi Vert’s favor to apparently make it the first chart-topping rap project of the year.
Meanwhile, fans will get to experience Pink Tape for themselves very soon. Its tour kicks off in October and runs through North America all the way to the end of mid-November. Delayed rap albums have unfortunately become commonplace in the genre’s world. Artists fail to deliver on the dates they gave themselves for a variety of reasons, whether it be label issues, sample clearance, or simply, not completing the project on time.
Social media is the biggest factor in these situations. With the rise of Instagram Live, artists often preview snippets of music that build high expectations for their upcoming projects. Sometimes artists are transparent about why the project hasn’t been released and sometimes they aren’t. Listeners just have to stay locked in to see what happens to the project once it is announced.
With that in mind, we’re exploring 7 previously announced projects that have yet to see the light of day. Check out the entries below.
7. Boldy James & J Dilla – Drug Dilla

Boldy James drops so much music, it’s hard to tell if he’s ever dropped a delayed rap album. Often, his releases come as a surprise as opposed to receiving a full promotional run. Many of Boldy’s projects have been producer-exclusive collabs and this highly anticipated release follows the same formula. Boldly and Dilla are both from Detroit so this is one connection they already have. Boldy first announced the project in an interview on Showoff Your Gems and later confirmed to Rap Radar that he had “the last of the Dilla stash.” There is currently no date for the project and Boldy has only announced the name of it, Drug Dilla.
Westside Gunn is currently in the midst of dropping a delayed rap album, And Then You Pray For Me, which was initially due out last month. However, he has another release that may be a hair more anticipated than this one. Gunnlib, the anticipated joint effort between Westside Gunn and Madlib, was birthed from their collab of the same name that appeared on Flygod Is An Awesome God. The two formed a great collaborative record together with their most recent appearing on Westside Gunn’s 2022 release Peace “Fly” God.
Madlib is a legendary producer with an extensive resume and Westside Gunn’s golden era-tinted sound is undoubtedly a perfect pairing with the Madvillainy producer’s beats. Westside Gunn announced his “retirement” before releasing this album, although he didn’t follow through on it – much to the delight of his fans. Westside Gunn enjoys regularly dropping music and is often transparent about why things have been delayed. This release depends on his own personal release plans.

This delayed rap album is not a matter of a label dispute. In December 2022, Cardi was completely transparent about her album delay while on Instagram Live. “I feel like I got so many songs and I don’t like anything. I feel like nothing is good enough,” she explained. Cardi B went on to say that even if she did put the music out, she’d have personal issues to work out throughout the roll out. “I know right after I drop my album, I have to go out on tour and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids,” Cardi added.
These reasons are completely justified. Cardi has not left her fans starving though as she has recently appeared on several remixes, including FendiDa Rappa’s “Point Me 2,” as well as a handful of singles. Cardi has financial goals and enjoys being on the stage itself and stated that she just needs to get herself together and put out the new project.
4. Pusha T & DJ Drama – Untitled Gangsta Grillz Mixtape

Pusha T works on his own time. In fact, the luxury of time is what inspires the title of his magnum opus, Daytona. In his own words: “I drops every blue moon to separate myself from you kings of the YouTube.” He usually doesn’t share updates on the release of new music until it’s ready for public consumption.
The Re-Up Gang mixtapes hold a special place in the mixtape era. And while Push has released a handful of solo mixtapes, he’s yet to link up with DJ Drama for an entry under the Gangsta Grillz umbrella. However, the two confirmed that would be in the works next. Rumors of a Clipse album have also begun with Pusha T and No Malice reuniting on It’s Almost Dry and NIGO’s most recent album. Additionally, they debuted an unreleased song at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton fashion show. Listeners at least hope No Malice will appear on Pusha’s Gangsta Grillz project.
Playboi Carti’s listeners know a thing or two about delayed rap albums. The elusive artist’s last album, Whole Lotta Red was highly anticipated by many and had a rough rollout. It began in 2018 and after cryptic posts from him, those associated with him, and several leaks, it finally dropped on Christmas Day in 2020.
Carti’s next album, Music, seems like it’s facing similar delays. In December 2022, Carti shared his most recent Instagram post that many suspect could be cover art for something. The title of the album is Music, according to his interview with XXL in April 2022. Carti’s work with Pi’erre Bourne and his ear for production have stood out throughout his discography. The Atlanta-born rapper’s 2020 album certainly shifted the culture sonically, as well. We expect that the delay surrounding the album will be worth the wait and he’ll, once again, deliver a groundbreaking body of work that pushed the boundaries further.

This delayed rap album is a result of Rocky juggling multiple things in his life. He’s become a Dad twice over with his partner Rihanna; he’s done collaborations with multiple brands and was also a part of a promo/collab with the video game Need For Speed Unbound. Originally, listeners thought the name of his album was going to be ALL $MILES due to a caption on some of Rocky’s Instagram posts. However, once he returned to live performances, he began promoting Don’t Be Dumb on his clothing. Eventually, Rocky confirmed this was the album’s title during his Amazon Music Live performance in 2022 where he debuted three unreleased songs. One of these songs was “Same Problems?”, an emotional tribute to rappers who’ve passed away in recent years. Listeners are anticipating exactly how Rocky’s album will sound with many hoping he goes back to his roots.

If this delayed rap album wasn’t on this list, the list wouldn’t even be valid. Detox was officially announced back in 2002. Dre promoted it as his final album and listeners dreamed of it being one of the greatest releases of all time. His go-to collaborators like Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent would naturally be on it. As time passed, people anticipated newer stars like Kendrick Lamar to be featured. Dr. Dre allegedly began working on Detox as early as 2001.
In 2015, he dropped Compton, which was not a reworked version of Detox. The album boasted features from Dre’s latest prodigies including Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak. Dre later revealed that he had a stash of songs that he initially planned to release as part of Detox, although it didn’t meet his standards, thus squashing the possibilities of the album’s release. However, there have been a few rumors from close collaborators that the album might see the light of day. However, Dre hasn’t confirmed this.
Lil Tjay says that he’s worried that Lil Uzi Vert will be dropping their next project on the same day as his own upcoming effort, 222. Despite just dropping the Pink Tape, Uzi hinted at planning to release another project if the album reaches the top of the charts. In addition to Uzi, Tjay also references Travis Scott and Drake intending to release albums in the near future.
“Uzi better not drop on my day!” he wrote with pouting face emojis. In another post, he added: “Facts i Hurd @Drake, @trvisXX, @LILUZIVERT all might drop and they all some goats forsure but “222”, This One rii here ??? Ngl.”

As for Lil Uzi Vert’s announcement, they wrote on social media, “Get this 2 number one and I will drop the album y’all really looking for,” referencing the Pink Tape. They also added “Luv is rage 3” to their bio. Travis Scott has been teasing the long-awaited release of Utopia more and more in recent weeks. Finally, Drake confirmed that he’s working on a new album following the release of his new poetry book, Titles Ruin Everything. The project is seemingly titled For All the Dogs. Nicki Minaj is one of the biggest artists in the entire world. Moreover, she is one of hip-hop’s GOATs and pioneers. If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have artists like Cardi B, Doja Cat, Flo Milli, City Girls, and a whole host of others. Overall, she is a cultural icon who deserves her flowers. Not to mention, she has been teasing new music for quite some time. Fans knew that she had a new album coming out, and they had even received a release date for it. However, on IG today, Nicki spoke to her fans and gave them some valuable news.
As it turns out, her new album has been pushed back to November 17th of this year. Although this may upset some people who anticipated an earlier release, the name of the album will certainly intrigue people. After nearly 13 years, fans will be receiving Pink Friday 2. Yes, that’s right, Nicki Minaj is going to be releasing a follow-up to her 2010 album that in many ways, put her on the map. This is a remarkable day for her fans.
“I love you guys so much. I am so grateful for the years of support & love you guys have given me,” Nicki Minaj wrote. “At times maybe I didn’t even deserve all that you have poured into me. Nonetheless, you. will. love. this. album. I will give tour deets closer to that time, but obviously the tour will start around the first quarter of 2024. I’ll also share the REAL album cover at a later date.”
Hopefully, we get a few singles very soon. After all, “Barbie World” with Ice Spice was just released as part of the Barbie movie. Lil Uzi Vert teased the release date for the highly-anticipated project, The Pink Tape, during a video on Instagram. While playing a song off of the project, Uzi remarked that the release date is just “weeks away” at this point.
“It’s the motherfuckin’ countdown,” Lil Uzi Vert says in the clip. “We weeks away. I’m telling ya’ll, I’ma come correct. I’ma come correct.” Uzi previously teased that The Pink Tape will be dropping at some point later this month during an appearance at The Roots Picnic. Many fans have speculated that Uzi intends to drop it on June 23, which is National Pink Day in the United States.

In addition to teasing the release date for The Pink Tape this week, Uzi also posted photos of Playboi Carti and Ken Carson, leading to speculation that they’ll appear on the tracklist. Uzi further showcased what could be the album’s cover in an Instagram story from Friday night.
Uzi has been teasing The Pink Tape for years at this point, although their updates have gotten more frequent in recent months. In March, Uzi revealed to TMZ that they were sober for the recording of the project. “It was challenging at first. But then after probably after a month, I got used to it,” Uzi said. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more. It was the same. Even better. Because I could think more clear and I could actually, like, instead of my words slurring, which is kinda of cool, everything made sense. I didn’t just make random music. How can I say? I didn’t play off the beat. I actually made song with topics this time.”
After many months of deliberation, album name changes, and seemingly endless teasing, it’s Doja Cat season once more. Sure, previous efforts like her remix of SZA’s “Kill Bill” already got fans quite ready for this moment. However, nothing had quite lived up to the solid confirmation that the fanbase just got via the artist’s Twitter account. On Tuesday (June 13), the Los Angeles native fired off a cover art: a triangle messily splattered in blood. That could point to many different things, so drop your interpretation in the comments below. In addition, she revealed a release date of June 16, meaning that this Friday, hype will become bigger than ever for her next album.
Of course, fans have many theories, hopes, and pipe-dreams when it comes to what this hinted project could be. The most prevalent and likely explanation is that this will be Doja Cat’s first single for her album. Furthermore, this is bolstered by the fact that the single’s pre-save link apparently leaked online, and fans caught onto it before it could be taken down. It seems like her and her team weren’t ready just yet to get the ball rolling. Hopefully this announcement was a planned piece of the puzzle, not a scrambled effort to capitalize on tech issues or leakers ruining the fun for everyone.
Also, a lot of fans pray that we’ll just get the whole album, though that seems much more improbable. Obviously the “I Don’t Do Drugs” multi-hyphenate will do as she pleases, especially considering her comments on her first two records being “cash-grabs.” Still, a single or two leading up to the larger album release, plus some merch or tour dates or media appearances sprinkled in there, seems like the most logical fit for someone of her status. But Doja seems to be quite done with all that, so it’s exciting to think that anything could happen.
If you’re not caught up on all the album rumors and changing titles and whatnot, perhaps it’s best to let yourself be surprised, like a good trip to the movies without watching the trailer.
