Cowboys Clowned For Embarrassing Ending Of Loss To 49ers

The Dallas Cowboys‘ season ended on Sunday night in San Francisco following a 19-12 to the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs. NFL fans on Twitter quickly began roasting the team for the fashion in which they lost.

Much of the focus of fans’ reactions came in response to the final drive of the game. The Cowboys were able to get the ball back with under two minutes to play and no timeouts. During that time, quarterback Dak Prescott nearly took a safety, Dalton Schultz failed to stay in bounds on a routine sideline catch, and the team drew up an experimental play that failed miserably.

Shea Serrano wrote: “This final drive being little more than a farce with no real chance at victory attached to it is and no real threat to the opposing team is about as symbolic as it gets for the cowboys and for cowboys fans this past quarter century.”

“Cowboys ending back-to-back seasons with the new worst play in franchise history,” Patrick Daugherty further joked.

Another user tweeted: “Cowboys is the funniest team I ever seen in my life.”

Owner Jerry Jones spoke candidly about his disappointment in the team to reporters after the loss: “Frankly, I wouldn’t say surprised. I would say just real disappointed that we maybe couldn’t make something happen.”

Jones also added: “I thought this team, with Dak at quarterback, I thought we had a chance to get to and compete at the top level in this tournament. I really did.”

Coretta Scott King’s Cousin Blasts Boston’s MLK Statue

Today (January 16), the U.S. is celebrating the life and activism of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Millions of people reflect on Dr. King and his leadership during the Civil Rights Movement, and it’s easy to find tributes shared throughout social media. Recently, Boston also added to the celebratory events by unveiling a new 22-foot bronze statue that wasn’t well received by the public.

The Washington Post later reported the statue was created by sculptor Hank Willis Thomas. It was said to honor “the relationship between the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King.” However, the internet was soon flooded with negative reactions, including one from Coretta’s cousin, Seneca Scott.

“For my family, it’s rather insulting,” Scott penned in an essay for Compact. He further said the “sculpture is an especially egregious example of the woke machine’s callousness and vanity.”

“Ten million dollars were wasted to create a masturbatory metal homage to my legendary family members — one of the all-time greatest American families,” Scott also stated. “How could anyone fail to see that this … brings very few, if any, tangible benefits to struggling black families?”

Meanwhile, the statue shows an embrace inspired by an image of Dr. King, who hugged his wife Coretta after learning he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

Moreover, sculptor Thomas explained his vision to The Boston Globe.

“This work is really about the capacity for each of us to be enveloped in love,” Tomas additionally shared. “And I feel enveloped in love every time I hear the names and see the faces of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King.”

Gunna is currently trending on Twitter as jury selection in the YSL RICO trial begins. The rapper took a plea deal last month and is currently out of prison.

In response, Young Thug’s siblings as well as Lil Gotit seem to have taken issue with Gunna.

“All Dat Internet Shit Not P,” Thug’s brother, Unfoonk, wrote on his Instagram Story, using Gunna’s signature P emoji.

Young Thug’s sister, HiDoraah, has also unfollowed Gunna on Instagram.

Users on Twitter have been posting about the apparent spat on the site all day.

“YSL having a civil war beef on instagram,” DJ Akademiks wrote, before adding, “Gunna came out and tried testing the water claiming YSL the label and said Free Thugga … and everybody in ysl lookin at gunna like ‘N***a u the reason he in there’ … they all unfollowed him right after even thug sister.”

One fan defended Gunna writing, “He’s not the reason Thug Is in jail,” before explaining, “They were both arrested the same time. They have text messages from Thug, car rental agreements, they found a glock with a switch in his house. None of they is Gunnas fault.”

Another fired back: “Fam u gotta stop this… The n***a told… and everyone else who stood in front of that judge & admitted YSL is a gang & involved in gang activities told as well… U like the music… it’s coo… But they told..lol”

Joe Budden Reacts To EJ King’s Trial Recap

Apart from all of the pleas leading up to the YSL Rico trial in Atlanta in January, the Tory Lanez trial in Los Angeles has been one of the most-talked legal battles in Hip-Hop this month. Megan Thee Stallion, Kelsey Harris, and plenty of other witnesses have taken the stand so far. Megan’s former bodyguard, Justin Edison, has still yet to testify, but earlier this week, EJ King took the stand.

EJ King was Megan Thee Stallion’s stylist around the time of the shooting, and he attended Kylie Jenner’s party on July 12, 2020. In his testimony, he said Megan was “past the faded point,” so he had urged her to leave the party. When questioned if Megan or Kelsey had a firearm in their possession that night, EJ King replied, “Possibly… but it’s not my business.”

Joe Budden and other celebrities react to EJ King’s post-court Instagram post

Following EJ King’s testimony in court on Monday (Dec. 19), he hit Instagram to share photos of his outfit. As reporters previously described, King sported long, wavy hair and a bright pink blazer during his court appearance. King also shared video clips of him talking to the press and walking away from the courthouse. In fact, King took his IG dump a step further by soundtracking the video clips with the theme music from Law & Order.

“My day in court was exhausting but it’s over and done with!!!” EJ King wrote in his Instagram post. “Speak your truth and leave it there.”

See the celebrity stylist’s post below.

Naturally, several people found King’s Law & Order clips hilarious, which led fans and celebrities alike to react to his post. Supermodel Winnie Harlow, actress Jessie Woo, Joie Chavis, and plenty of others roasted King for using the Law & Order music.

Surprisingly, Joe Budden also joined in on the fun. Budden recently admitted to not liking Megan Thee Stallion, but his reaction to King’s post appeared to be more focused on his video-editing antics than his actual testimony in court.

“Fam,” he wrote in EJ King’s comments with a flurry of crying laughing emojis. See Joe Budden’s reaction, as well as more celebrity reactions, below.

Gunna Released From Jail: Hip-Hop Reacts

Gunna is no longer in jail.

In a shocking development on Wednesday, the YSL Records artist pleaded guilty to a single charge in his RICO case. According to Billboard, Gunna took an Alford plea, which allowed him to formally admit his guilt while maintaining his innocence. As a result, the 29-year-old artist was released from jail on Wednesday afternoon.

Per the terms of his release, Gunna was sentenced to five years with one year to serve in prison, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. However, his time was reportedly commuted to time served and 500 hours of community service. All in all, it looks like a win for Gunna, but naturally, some fans have become skeptical of his release. However, Gunna has clarified that he was not flipped into a witness.

“When I became affiliated with YSL in 2016, I did not consider it a “gang”; more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations,” Gunna said in a statement. “My focus of YSL was entertainment – rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and “glorified” urban life in the Black community.”

He continued, saying, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Rappers and music industry professionals celebrate Gunna’s release on social media.

Following all of the tragedies that hit the Southern capital this year, the Hip-Hop community prayed for Atlanta. Without a doubt, some of those prayers have been answered. Gunna’s release from jail marks the first win for Atlanta’s rap scene in a while. As a result, several Hip-Hop artists and industry professionals hit social media to react joyously to the news about Gunna.
