Killer Mike Addresses Grammys Arrest

Killer Mike’s incredible Grammys run this year, resulting in a clean three-for-three sweep in rap categories for album, song, and performance, was undercut almost immediately by a scandalous incident. Authorities arrested him shortly after, reportedly for a misdemeanor involving a scuffle with a security guard, and many expressed outrage online. Not only should the MICHAEL star have celebrated his accomplishments in peace, but this caused discussions around the perception and treatment of Black celebrities no matter their status. Regardless, he recently called into The Big Tigger Show on Monday morning (February 5) to speak of the previous night’s awards ceremony, and he had a minimal comment on the controversy.

“We hit a speed bump, and then we head back to the party,” Killer Mike remarked. Of course, many fans think that he probably has more to say on the matter, but for whatever reason, might save it for another time. Also, there’s the possibility that the Atlanta lyricist plans on taking legal action or pursuing this more formally, so he might want to stay tight-lipped on the situation. Regardless of all that, the most heartening thing is to hear him be so happy, grateful, and proud concerning the Grammy wins and the strength of his craft.

Killer Mike Speaks On “Speed Bump” Arrest After His 2024 Grammys Wins: Listen

“Three Grammys. 20 years in the game. 48 years old,” Killer Mike expressed regarding his big wins. “Beat out everybody in the thing. He beat the best of the best, so all you could say is, he one of the best. Issa Rae Inks Multi-Year Deal With Def Jam Recordings For Raedio

Issa Rae owns her own media company, Hoorae Media, and the audio division, Raedio, now has a new home. Def Jam Recordings and Raedio have partnered up for the long-term, with a multi-year deal in the works. This includes everything from publishing to podcasts to digital content and music distribution. Also, Issa Rae and Raedio can now sign and market Def Jam artists. This adds to the potential influence Rae has in hip-hop culture.

She was the brilliant mind behind the HBO series Rap Sh!t, a 2022 comedy in which two Miami high school friends reunite to form a female rap group. Their hope is to come together after being estranged to make it big in the music industry. Innovative ideas like that — as well as collaborations with artists — are exactly why Def Jam struck a deal with Hoorae Media and Raedio.

Raedio previously had a contract with Atlantic Records that started in 2019. This new deal effectively ends that contract. Speaking about the deal, Raedio president Benoni Tagoe said, “Our mission at Raedio is to continually evolve how and where people discover music and the opportunities for artists behind it. Def Jam is the perfect partner with a storied legacy to align with Raedio’s mission and vision of disrupting the music industry as we know it.” Def Jam chairman and CEO Tunji Balogun also was ecstatic about the deal, saying, “Def Jam is thrilled to partner with Issa and the incredible team at Raedio on this new venture, and we look forward to telling more amazing stories together.”

This has been Issa Rae’s year. In 2023 alone, she starred in both Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as Spider-Woman (voice acting) and Barbie as President Barbie. The latter comes out next week. Add to that a multi-year contract for her media company, and there’s nothing Issa Rae can’t do in pop culture.

Sukihana Disses Charlamagne Tha God On The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club recently had Sukihana on the show, who was very excited promote her upcoming single “Casamigo.” However, she found herself in a tough situation after host Charlamagne Tha God, well-known for his unfiltered takes, suggested that her song wouldn’t be a hit. Moreover, the “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” star said that many DJs, particularly DJ Clue, showed her a lot of love. When she said that they told her she had a hit on her hands, Charlamgne said that DJ Clue will tell that to anybody. Obviously, Sukihana wasn’t too happy about that, and she proceeded to blast the media personality on air.

“What, s**t, you’s a motherf***in’ liar,” Sukihana retorted against Charlamagne Tha God. “Under that two piece that you got on, you got a thong up your a** and your booty hole shaved. So I’ma let you be great, but we gon’ get back to this motherf***in’ hit. It’s shaved, it’s shaved. You like that a** licked. And there’s nothing wrong with that. You gon’ motherf***in’ respect a queen when you see one. I don’t give a f**k if DJ Clue lie. B**h, God tell the truth, and ‘Casamigo’ is a hit!”

Charlamagne Tha God Shouldn’t Have Doubted Sukihana

Of course, this seems a bit more confrontational out of context than what really went down. The rest of The Breakfast Club‘s hosts were laughing along, teasing Charlamagne Tha God and reacting with hilarity to Sukihana’s rant. All in all, it still made for a pretty hilarious clip that Charlamagne himself took in stride. He joked that he does have a thong on, and didn’t really try to stop the Delaware native or clap back at her. Considering how viciously she trashed DaniLeigh’s new song, he doesn’t want that smoke.

Regardless, pop culture actually got a surprising retrospective look at the 31-year-old artist after Jerry Springer’s passing. A clip of her on his show back in 2017 resurfaced, in which she performs and joins a couple on stage. No matter the context, her antics usually get a lot of eyes and ears on her on social media and beyond. If this Breakfast Club episode is anything to go by, it’ll almost always make for some quality entertainment. Angela Yee Addresses “The Breakfast Club” Comments On Her Radio Show

Angela Yee recently addressed comments she made about The Breakfast Club on her radio show Way Up. While she already responded to the backlash on Twitter, she further elaborated about them on air. Moreover, she said that she didn’t expect so many to come down her throat, as she didn’t mean to insinuate that no other women worked on the larger show. Instead, she was making a point on how she’s the only woman host on air. In fact, she said she’s made similar comments about not being able to talk to men for hours after they wrap up, but this one particularly got people fired up.

“Never blew up like this before, I guess?” she explained, adding on to her previous response. “Maybe it was the way that I said it, I’m not sure. I guess people were interpreting it to mean that I meant that there were no women working on the show, and that was not my intention. ‘Cause that’s simply not true. I was talking about in that studio, in that room. Even Sydney will tell you I’d walk out that room and be like, ‘I can’t be in here for now.’

Angela Yee Speaks Further On The Breakfast Club Comments On Her Radio Show

“And I would even say when I leave the show, I don’t even wanna talk to any guys,” Yee continued. “That’s why I had Lip Service with all women, because I was like ‘Ugh, I can’t talk to any guys for, like, two hours.’ I feel like I’ve said that on many interviews, but somehow this turned into a lot more. I was definitely surprised.” Furthermore, her surprise came at the immediate clapback from people online, such as former Breakfast Club co-host DJ Envy.

“I mean, it was her, Charlamagne and myself, so she was the only woman on air,” Envy stated. “But behind the scenes, it was so many different- I mean, our boss, the actual person that pays our bills and pays our checks and hires us is Thea Mitchem who’s a woman. I think she misspoke, I think the words were taken out of I guess technicality. I’m sure she would clean it up, but there’s a lot of women who work on that show.” Regardless of your take, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on Angela Yee.

NBA YoungBoy Checks Rich The Kid Over Pic With Lil Durk

As much as we talk about celebrity sightings and who linked up with who, it’s rare to see the artists themselves hop on the discussion. NBA YoungBoy surprised Rich the Kid on his new radio show when he pressed him about a picture he has with Lil Durk.

For those unaware, YB and Durkio have long-standing beef, and things almost got tense during the conversation. Moreover, Rich the Kid was pictured with Lil Durk back at a Fourth of July party at a restaurant. The moment came up again during the premiere of YoungBoy’s new radio show, which premiered on Amazon’s Amp platform this Friday, December 9th. During the show, the Queens-born rapper hopped on to talk with the Baton Rouge native. That’s when the Ma’ I Got A Family artist pressed the Kid about taking a picture with his rival.

“How this picture even came across?” he asked the “New Freezer” rapper. “Like there’s a n***a pulled out the camera, you ain’t just let me stand up and get the f**k on. You know I ain’t got no problem with dude, you know. But you ain’t know you feel like let me stand up and get the f**k on?”

Furthermore, they discussed the occasion and how Rich doesn’t need to get caught up in their beef. From his perspective, the “Plug Walk” star was just being cool with a fellow artist and wants to be on some “‘stop the violence’ s**t.” Meanwhile, YB was also making it clear that this was a conversation, not a confrontation.

“It’s all good. It’s all good, you know,” he told the Kid after some back-and-forth. “This is a positive station here even though I’m talking a little aggressive. And I’m gonna play a lot of music to support certain people, f**k it.” However, Rich the Kid’s was still noticeably reserved and clearly a little nervous, but he took it in stride. It’s great to see them look past their individual relationships with Durkio and form one themselves. In fact, it’s not the only relationship the Slime is excited about.

“I’m so happy than a motherf**ker. I have been waiting for this my whole life and I’m finally at this moment,” YoungBoy remarked in reference to his January 7th wedding to Jazlyn Mychelle. “I’m excited to see you, your wife and the kids, Ms. Tori.” Apart from that, you can check out the clip where they talk about the pic with The Voice below.

What do you think of YB and Rich the Kid staying respectful despite the Durk beef? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on NBA YoungBoy’s crazy career.
