R Kelly’s Lawsuit Against Tasha K & The U.S. Government To Be Dismissed

R Kelly is facing more bad news. According to multiple reports, including one from The Neighborhood Talk, the tainted singer’s lawsuit against blogger and YouTuber Tasha K, as well as prison workers, is facing dismissal. The Chicago, Illinois artist filed it back in November 2023 as he felt that the government was leaking sensitive information about him to the outspoken social media figure. R Kelly was of the impression that this is why Tasha K was speaking poorly about him therefore damaging his public image and causing him emotional distress in the process.

But as for the government coming to this conclusion, they state that they aren’t responsible for one prison official’s actions. The worker who did leak things such as emails, visitor logs, and phone records was never charged for any crimes. Additionally, the person retired right after this investigation ended in 2019. Furthermore, Tasha K did deny any sort of involvement in this scheme.

In February of 2023, highly maligned R&B singer R Kelly was handed down a 20-year prison sentence for possessing child pornography and inducing minors. That was tacked onto his 30-year bout on racketeering and sex trafficking charges in a New York federal court in 2022. None of this is obviously breaking news, but this short amount of background information is important. The reason being is because there is a new update in regard to the former of the two.

According to TMZ, the artist and his attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, are looking to whittle down his overall time behind bars by using the statute of limitations argument. Since these crimes took place in the 1990s, they feel that the PROTECT Act (2003) does not apply here. Bonjean pointed a specific detail of this law which is that there is no clause that says you can essentially charge someone for an alleged conduct that before the year the act was passed. However, it isn’t necessarily black and white for this reason.

Tinashe is having a moment. The singer has been dropping acclaimed albums for over a decade, but her latest single, “Nasty,” has exploded. It’s spread like wildfire on TikTok, and recently cracked the Billboard Hot 100. This marks the first time Tinashe has landed a pop hit as a solo artist, and to make things even better, she managed to do it as an independent artist. “Nasty” was released through the Tinashe Music label. She’s thrilled by the song’s success and the reaction of her former label.

Tinashe, who left RCA Records in 2019, told TMZ that her ex-label is “gagging” over the success of her new single. “Nasty” has continued to gain traction since its release in April. This is not the first time Tinashe has thrown shade at RCA Records, either. During a 2023 appearance on the Zach Sang Show, the R&B singer claimed she was forced to do collabs against her will. To make matters worse, they were often with artists who were over the hill, like R. Kelly. “I literally block out that R. Kelly song from my mind,” she told the host. “I forget that it even exists.
