“Dot taught me,” he said. “Dot taught me so much, bro. Dot… Dot gave me… Dot gave me so much confidence. Dot made me a rapper. This shit make me want to cry right now.” From there, he joked that “Charlamagne [Tha God] got me to cry, never again.” He was referencing an appearance on The Breakfast Club in 2019 following the death of Mac Miller. Q added: “Dot saved my life. I owe a lot to Dot.”

ScHoolboy Q On Working With Kendrick Lamar

Later in the interview, ScHoolboy Q explained why he’s slowed down his music output in recent years. “This is our life, like me talking about our situations, like y’know, the shit we done been through, homies we done lost to the system or to the streets,” he said. “Like me talkin’ about my mama trauma from her own brothers is like … you can’t compare that to somebody that won a[n] NBA championship. When it comes to music, I don’t look at it as like, ‘Oh, you have to drop every year.’ I’m like, no, your favorite rapper has to drop every year because he needs chilli. I do what I want because I move off peace, I move off my experiences. As a[n] artist, if I bring nothing to the table that comes from my life, I don’t feel I should put it out.”

ScHoolboy Q Doesn’t Drop An Album Every Year For This Reason

Among the many incredible MCs that came up in the early 2010s, ScHoolboy Q is certainly one of the most well-respected among his peers. Moreover, his illustrious career has markers of conceptual excellence, hard-hitting aggression, impressive lyrical displays, and a commitment to only dropping when he feels like he has to. During a recent interview with the BACKONFIGG podcast, the TDE MC revealed why he doesn’t drop an album every year and why he’s slowed down on his releases. That will most likely change soon, as he’s been teasing the prompt arrival of his next project this year. While shouting out his contemporaries’ trajectory (Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, Danny Brown, and Mac Miller), the L.A. rapper explained how none of them treated hip-hop like a sport to dominate.

“This is our life, like me talking about our situations,” ScHoolboy Q expressed to the co-hosts. “You know, the s**t we done been through, homies we done lost to the system or to the streets. Like me talkin’ about my mama trauma from her own brothers. You can’t compare that to somebody that won an NBA championship.”

ScHoolboy Q Opens Up On How His Personal Experiences Impact His Artistic Process

“When it comes to music, I don’t look at it as like, ‘Oh, you have to drop every year,’” ScHoolboy Q continued. “I’m like, no, your favorite rapper has to drop every year because he needs chilli. I do what I want because I move off peace, I move off my experiences. As a[n] artist, if I bring nothing to the table that comes from my life, I don’t feel I should put it out.” Overall, it’s a very respectable and understandable perspective from one of the West Coast’s biggest musical voices in the 2010s and beyond.

Meanwhile, amid song previews and here-and-there comments on his next release, the 36-year-old is building up a lot of steam. With these thoughts in mind, fans expect this new phase to be a powerful and intent-driven effort from the artist. We’ll have to wait and see exactly how that drive and determination pans out. Fat Joe Reflects On The Time He & Big Pun Waited In Line For Eminem’s “Slim Shady LP”

Fat Joe and Big Pun is one of the most important friendships in New York hip-hop, resulting in a cultural shift and a lot of great music. While Pun tragically passed away, Joe still honors his memory and does right by him with everything he does. For example, the rapper recently sat down with the Rap Radar podcast and recalled a wholesome story of their experiences before attending the Grammys in 1999 for their nomination. The night before, they waited in line like regular people for The Slim Shady LP by Eminem at Tower Records in Los Angeles. At the height of their fame, they never stopped being fans, especially for someone they liked as much as Marshall Mathers.

“Eminem is a god,” Fat Joe told the show’s co-hosts. “I don’t give a f**k who or what you think, he’s a god. Somebody [who] shifted the whole algorithm when he came up. Me and Big Pun, Big Pun was the fist Latino to sell two million records solo. We’re nominated for a Grammy, and the night before we go to the Grammys, we are waiting [in] line in L.A. at Tower Records for f***ing Eminem’s album. On line, nominated for a Grammy, me and Big Pun on line to get that motherf***in’ Eminem album. You tell me he ain’t a rap god.”

Fat Joe Tells The Story Of How He Waited In Line For The Slim Shady LP With Big Pun

Big Pun received a nomination for Best Rap Album for his debut, Capital Punishment. When he lost to Jay-Z’s Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life, he apparently didn’t take it well. “Big Pun was nominated for two Grammys,” Fat Joe explained to XXL in March. “He went and got the finger waves like Dru Down. It’s that iconic picture where we look like the Kingpin. The big-a** suits. I remember when we went to the Grammys, they had told us that they do the hip-hop awards before, and we lost. Ricky Martin was doing the ‘Living La Vida Loca’ and I’m looking around. It’s Aretha Franklin. It’s Kirk Franklin. I waited my whole life to get there.

“Pun was like, ‘Yo, f**k these people, man,’” he continued. “‘They jerked us.’ I was like, ‘What?’ and he was like ‘Let’s go.’ I was like, ‘Yo, Pun, are you serious?’ He was like, ‘Yo, let’s go. F**k that, you my brother, let’s go.’ I was like, ‘Aight, f**k it. We gotta go.’ That was a big moment for us. We left. We left the Grammys. And we were strapped, like the cover, at the Grammys.” For more news on Big Pun’s legacy and the latest updates on Fat Joe, keep checking in with HNHH.

Benzino Admits To Being An “A**hole” While He Was At The Source

As former co-owner of the legendary hip-hop magazine The Source, Benzino has a lot to look back on. Moreover, he recently sat down for a pretty enlightening series of interviews, one on the My Expert Opinion podcast with Math Hoffa which released on Thursday (August 24). In it, the media mogul recalled how he was often an “a**hole” during his tenure at the publication, and explained some of the personal feelings behind it. First, he spoke on being new to this industry and having to go through a tough learning process on his path. In addition, he briefly mentioned his notorious beef with Eminem and expressed that many in his position would’ve done the same.

“I had to learn and grow into this because I did not grow up with this,” Benzino told his hosts. “I grew up with other s**t. So, I was an a**hole sometimes. And I know that. I wasn’t right. And that’s not the way to be. You know? You have to try to stay in your lane in certain things. But I was transitioning. And to this day… people still think, you know, I’m that a**hole. I was the top of my motherf***in’ food chain. Even [Russell Simmons], Lyor [Cohen], all these n***as, Steve [Stoute] and everybody, they all had to answer to somebody.

Benzino Recalls His Tendencies At The Source

“I was the top of a damn near $75 million company when n***as wasn’t getting money like that,” Benzino continued. “I got that big money first and I was the top of that. So when the Eminem thing came through The Source, at this point it’s getting disrespectful. So how the f**k am I gonna have this n***a in my magazine? Would you? You’re not gonna put nobody in your magazine to give this n***a five mics after this n***a’s being disrespectful. You wouldn’t do it, man. Nobody would.”

Meanwhile, the 58-year-old also reflected on an instance in which Jay-Z and Dame Dash confronted the magazine in their offices. Apparently, he had seven guards arm themselves to fend Roc-A-Fella off, and later gave them their respect. Maybe it’s one of those instances where he regrets his actions, but regardless, it’s a remarkable story to recall. For more news and the latest updates on Benzino, log back into HNHH.

Wack 100 & 1090 Jake Call Each Other Out On Air During “No Jumper” Podcast

The No Jumper podcast, hosted by Adam22, recently witnessed a beef within the outskirts of the hip-hop game manifest after online shots. On one side is Wack 100, music executive who manages 6ix9ine, and on the other is 1090 Jake, who exposes rap snitches and speaks a lot about paperwork. Of course, you see where this is going, and so did Adam when he called Jake while he had Wack in the studio. Moreover, they’re not huge fans of each other, with the latter blasting the former for his hate and vice versa. A lot of ink spilled over Tekashi’s recent song “Shaka Laka” with Kodak Black, and now, they actually hashed things out briefly and savagely, albeit via a phone call.

“I’m with Wack, you don’t have to talk to us, but he wanted me to call you. How do you feel about this?” Adam22 told 1090 Jake over the phone, which Wack 100 pushed back on. “Man, f**k Wack,” Jake responded, which prompted a laugh out of Adam. “Tell him I said ‘Suck my d**k.’” “What?” Wack responded, reaching out for Adam’s phone. “Let me see what’s happening, what’s up, homie? Give me the thing, what’s up, homie?”

Wack 100 & 1090 Jake Butt Heads On No Jumper

However, as soon as 1090 Jake finished his statement, he hung up on them, not sticking around for the heat in the kitchen. “I’m finna tell him I respect him, bro,” Wack posited. “You’re gonna text him and say ‘Hey, this is Wack, I respect you’? You better, like, spell a word wrong or something so he knows it’s not me,” Adam replied, and then received the phone back from Wack and read the message he wrote Jake. “He wrote ‘This is Wack, eat a d**k twice.” “Westside!” Wack exclaimed. “Yo, he blocking your number. Yeah, that’s how you destroy white boy to white boy communication!”

“This man is trying to destroy the white community, you see that?” Adam joked. “You hear how I tried to get this conversation started out in a safe way? Now you guys are never going to be able to be cool.” “He’s a buster,” Wack concluded. For more news and the latest updates on Wack 100 and 1090 Jake, stay logged into HNHH.

Jon Zherka Asks Adam22 How Much Money He & Lena The Plug Made Off Viral Tape

One of the most unexpectedly viral pop culture stories this year is the now-infamous Lena The Plug and Jason Luv tape. For those unaware, sorry to burden you with this, but the two adult actors lit the Internet on fire because it was Lena’s first time making a film with someone other than her husband, Adam22. Moreover, it’s been a controversial subject, not just because of infighting between the three (or rather, Luv against the couple), but also because of people debating whether Adam should’ve let this happen. Another popular and controversial influencer, Jon Zherka, asked the No Jumper host on his podcast about this.

Specifically, their conversation centered at one point around how much money the couple made off the tape. Adam22 did not reveal this, but he did ask Zherka: “What it if was a billion?” Then, he reacted in disbelief, saying that he wouldn’t let his wife do that, even for a billion dollars. In fact, Zherka even brought up the fact that they have a child together in his remarks. Furthermore, he said that Adam doesn’t look fazed by it, and that Lena will probably end up getting more of a psychological weight on her as a result.

Adam22 Won’t Say How Much Money He & Lena The Plug Made

In addition to this discussion, they also referred to the tape through other, slightly more comical subtopics. For example, Jon Zherka even offered to fight Jason Luv in Adam22’s stead amid their beef as a result of this tape. However, when they got to analyzing the actor’s size and strength, Zherka came to a hilarious realization. Right after he had set himself up as Adam’s champion, he said that he probably wouldn’t be able to fight him.

Meanwhile, this is something that pretty much every No Jumper guest is going to want to ask Adam about. Maybe they won’t address it at all, but it’s hard to ignore that it’s a massive elephant in the room these days. At some point, it’ll die down and everyone involved will continue their careers with no fuss. Until then, though, everyone’s still invested in the drama and wants to throw their thoughts into this debate. With that in mind, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Adam22 and Lena The Plug.

DaBaby Speaks On Not Feeling Entitled Due To His Come-Up

DaBaby has been through a lot of career ups and downs, whether that was early on in his career or during his peak. Regardless, he recently explained how that come-up doesn’t make him feel entitled to anything these days. Moreover, the Charlotte MC recently sat down for a conversation with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267 on the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast. In it, Baby spoke on his early shows, the grind that he would dedicate himself to constantly, and their effect on him as an artist. Furthermore, it speaks to the impact of those first hundred performances and the lasting context that it provided him with.

“I done paid my dues, bro,” DaBaby began his remarks to Gillie and Wallo. “I done performed at hole in the wall s**ts and all that. I got my documentary coming, too. But, yeah, it’ll have s**t in there where you see me performing for three people. That’s why even, you know, when s**t go left or I go through a little slump and s**t, motherf***ers think I’m one of these n***as who, like, entitled to instant gratification.

“Just entitled to a bunch of goddamn smiles and kisses and… N***a, f**k no,” DaBaby continued. “I do this s**t, like, I do this s**t. I done performed probably about a hundred times for less than goddamn a hundred people. You see what I’m saying? Probably more than a hundred times, facts. I ain’t have no voice. After every show, I ain’t have no voice the next day. I’m running around [raspy voice] ‘talking like this’ and s**t. N***as thinking I’m sick. I’m like, ‘Nah, n***a, I just done left it all on the floor last night.’ You know what I mean? I been jumping off that b***h, jumping off the stage.”

Meanwhile, he also gave the podcast moguls their flowers for all their hard work and dedication to the game. Overall, it was quite an enlightening interview with one of the more controversial but also hard-working rappers in recent years. Despite his past actions, it’s clear that he will continue to try to best himself; hopefully, that keeps translating into personal growth, as well. Rick Ross On “Drink Champs”: Biggest Boss Talks Past Beef, Upcoming Car Show, And More

N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN have had an incredible string of guests on their Drink Champs podcast over the past few weeks. Wiz Khalifa, Jadakiss, and Robin Thicke have all dropped by the studio to enjoy some drinks and answer burning questions, though none of them come close to topping today’s star – Rick Ross. This isn’t the Mississippi-born artist’s first appearance on the REVOLT series, but they have certainly stepped their game up since his last visit three years ago. Since then, Rozay has also stepped his game up, which he made sure to talk about in his latest interview.

Spanning over two-and-a-half hours, the Richer Than I Ever Been artist touched on a variety of hot topics during his second Drink Champs stint. Among them were his business ventures with companies like Wingstop (where he recently encouraged Don Lemon to apply), as well as his past beef, childhood inspiration, and upcoming car show. Speaking of the latter, Ross made it clear that he’s not looking at DJ Envy’s quickly approaching event of a similar nature as competition. Rather, he supports The Breakfast Club‘s endeavour to raise money for the family left behind by the late Young Dolph.

Rick Ross Returns to Drink Champs

“Envy was never on my level to battle,” the 47-year-old playfully teased when comparing their two events. “I wouldn’t do that to Envy. I like Envy and I f**k with Envy, but in the car game he not ready for that, but I support that shit,” Ross clarified. The New Yorker’s car show is scheduled to take place the weekend before the Biggest Boss’, which will also include a performance from him and Lil Wayne.

The father of four is obviously excited about his big day, but some of his neighbours have made it abundantly clear they’re not on the same page. A few weeks back, a group put forth a motion in hopes of shutting the multihyphenate down. As iHeart notes, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners heard the concerned citizens out but has not made moves to cancel the car show at this time. Check out Rick Ross’ full Drink Champs appearance above, and let us know who you want Noreaga and DJ EFN to interview next in the comments.

Jim Jones Says Dr. Dre “Punked” Him During Dipset Studio Session

Jim Jones recently incited some potential bad blood between Dipset and Dr. Dre after saying he’ll charge the star producer $2 million if he ever releases the songs they recorded together. Moreover, these revelations came from an interview with The Amazing AllHipHop podcast. While the Harlem MC recalled a “great night” in the studio with Dre, he went on to express some harbored feelings of frustration. “That was a great night in Hip Hop, a great night for the Diplomats,” the “We Fly High” hitmaker expressed. “I had a little studio on 28th street, and Dr. Dre was trying to recreate his new sound for his new album at the time, and we had that sound. Came to my studio, me and Cam did like four records in there. Juelz came and did a record at the end.

“We did about four or five records with Dr. Dre,” Jim Jones continued. “I don’t know what he ever did with the records. Yeah, he did them directly to his hard drive so we had a copy of it to listen to and s**t like that. Truthfully, he better not put it out ’cause I’m charging $2 million for my verse.

Jim Jones Felt Punked By Dr. Dre

“It was the first time I ever had somebody really make me do my verse over like 20 times. The first time I got a piece of that, it had made me think about 2Pac and Snoop. All the others that had to get the beats from Dre. Dre was punking n***as like, ‘Man, go back in there and spit that s**t over, bro. You bugging the f**k out.’ Every time he told me, ‘Nah nah, do that over, man.’

“Like bro, you’re cursing at me,” the Diplomat stated. “You don’t even know you’re cursing at me. You’re punking the s**t outta me right now. ’Cause n***as is looking at me like, ‘You’re telling Capo to do his s**t over? This is crazy.’ N***a, you f***ing it up for me.” Regardless of those studio woes, we’ll see if this manifests into a reconciliation and a release. For the latest on this story, stick around on HNHH for the latest on Dr. Dre and Jim Jones.
