Cam’ron Recalls Forcing Teenage Juelz Santana To Work On Music

Cam’ron says he used to have to force Juelz Santana to lock in and work on music when he was a teenager. Reflecting on their collaborative relationship during an interview on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Cam explained how he’d get Santana motivated to write.

“We used to have to lock Juelz in the house, straight up and down, when he was 15, 16,” he said. “All them songs you hear, the bangers, was forced. [I’d be like], ‘Yo, write the song, my n***a. Write the song!’ But it got to the point where I can’t treat you… you’re a grown man now. I can’t yell at you. I can’t scream at you. All them hits. ‘Gangsta Music,’ ‘Santana’s Town,’ all the hot shit, ‘Hey Ma,’ was when we about to walk out to the club, we had a crib in Chicago. And he’d be like, ‘Come on.’ I’d be like, ‘You did that 16?’ He’d be like, ‘Uh…’ I said, ‘We’ll bring you a b*tch back. You’re not coming out until you finish the f*cking song.’ Straight like that. ‘We’ll bring you a hoe back and if you finished the 16, you can have her.’”

From there, Cam also recalled Santana planning to drop another album once he got out of his deal with Dipset in 2008, but it never materialized. “When we stopped working together, I’m not saying the work ethic got poor, but for some reason, it’s not translating into the public hearing it,” Cam said. “Like I said, you go to his page now, every month he’s saying something’s coming out, something’s coming out. And the reason I know this ‘cause I’m waiting. I’m a fan! I’m sitting here saying: ‘When’s the shit coming out?’ ‘Cause I would like to hear it!”

Elliott Wilson discussed the early stages of his career as a music journalist, the current media climate, Roc Nation Brunches, and more during his latest appearance on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s podcast, Drink Champs. He was joined on the show by rapper Gorilla Nems.

For starters, Wilson discussed his inspiration for seeking a career in music journalism. “Run-DMC was the inspiration,” he said. “I read The Source. And they had the music editor at The Source, Reginald C. Dennis. I wanted to be that guy. He gets all the albums before them s**ts come out, he reviews them, he controls the mics. That’s what I wanted. I wanted to control the mics.”

Later, Wilson reflects on meeting Tyler, The Creator at one of JAY-Z’s iconic Roc Nation Brunches. He explained that he and Brian “B.Dot” Miller spent the day helping Tyler dodge fans. “I’ve been trying to talk to him for 10 years,” he said. He also labeled Tyler “a great kid,” who “loves hip-hop.” Of the brunch as a whole, Wilson added: “The brunch was great for us because it helped us bond with Tyler to get that interview. Babyface too … So I feel like that was a major networking thing that led to a good podcast after that. J. Cole On Kendrick Lamar Collab Album: “We Ain’t Ever Got The Chance”

During J. Cole’s appearance on Lil Yachty and Mitch’s A Safe Place podcast, they talked about a lot of stuff. They discussed Cole’s first number one hit and how he “almost” regrets it, his features policy, and plenty of other compelling and interesting topics. It’s great to hear the North Carolina MC and the Atlanta artist chop it up about life and their careers, and they got to discuss one of 2010s hip-hop’s most persistent requests. When addressing his rumored collab album with Kendrick Lamar, the Dreamville boss gave some very interesting and revealing reasons as to why it hasn’t happened… and probably won’t, unfortunately.

“In a nutshell, [Kendrick Lamar] had pulled up on me at No I.D.’s spot,” J. Cole began. “We was already building this relationship, and I had these beats at the time and I was playing them for him. Was that our first time linking? ‘HiiiPoWeR,’ one of them beats? There’s a few beats, a gang of beats that I did, I gave him. Some of them like, maybe had a hook on them, a verse- this, that, and the third.

“So he took them and, you know, in that moment, we talked about, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a project,’” J. Cole continued. “At that time he’s not on like that, but I’m f***in’ with him. For us to do something that’s full of our potential, that meets our real potential, you’re gonna need time. At least a year.

“When you got two successful artists with lives and families, that’s hard to do,” he concluded. “We put it to bed years ago. But at one point in time, it was a real conversation, for sure. Suge Knight says that women are in control of the music industry at the moment. Speaking on the state of hip-hop during a recent episode of his new podcast, Collect Call, the Death Row Records co-founder shared heaps of praise for a number of younger female artists.

“I think the industry is controlled by the baddest b*tches in the world,” he began. “The females got that sh*t on lock and when you look at the women, they came such a long way and they’re really, really strong. They’re not in the shadows of a man; they’re leading the way. I think Cardi B is incredible. That’s probably one of the biggest stars in the industry and a great business woman that leads the way.” From there, he praised Doja Cat, Summer Walker, Lizzo, and SZA as well.

Knight also praised the women for their beauty, noting that they all look like “runway models.” Despite this, he clarified that he’s not trying to “holla at them.” “These new bitches so motherf*ckin’ pretty, the rappers and the singers and the people in the industry can’t wait to get on social media and say, ‘Look who I got! Look who I’m dating!’ That’s how bad these b*tches are and they don’t just sound good, they look good,” he continued. “And I ain’t on no weirdo sh*t. I’m content where I am with my age. I ain’t tryna holla at them or nothing like that. I just give them they motherf*ckin’ [flowers]. They the ones that run the industry.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff Recalls Will Smith Trying To Cut His Cast Off With Butter Knives

DJ Jazzy Jeff says Will Smith once tried to help him cut off a cast by using butter knives. He recalled the story while speaking with the actor on the latest episode of his podcast, Class of ’88. He explained that they were in a hotel room in London working on a new album at the time.

“Right before we left for London, Jeff broke his leg in a car accident. So when we finally arrived in our hotel, Jeff was in a full-length cast from his hip to his ankle,” Smith said. Jeff then interjected: “I probably should have gotten the cast off before we left to go make the album, but I didn’t so I was way past due of this cast coming off to the point that the filling inside the cast started to irritate my kneecap — which is the reason Will kinda came up with this brilliant idea of ‘I can get your cast off.’”

From there, Smith joked that his go-to answer to ideas is usually “yes.” Jeff then recalled: “They bring up 24 butter knives and he proceeds to saw, and he kind of gets it to the point that the cast starts to split,” before Smith interjected: “So, I had been sawing the cast from the top, which, I guess, isn’t medically recommended, so the cast got stuck maybe halfway down Jeff’s leg.”

Smith then suggested Jeff get in the tub to “soften” up the cast, which only made matters worse. “It started to shrink, so now it’s choking my leg. And it really didn’t help that through the entire process, he’s laughing,” Jeff explained. “And I’m freaking out. TI says that legends like Eminem, Andre 3000, and Nipsey Hussle all share one common trait. He discussed what he feels that is during an interview with B. High ATL while explaining how his collaboration with the Outkast rapper came together.

“I waited, and paid,” he began. “Andre 3000, Eminem, [and] Nipsey Hussle is the longest verses that you will ever, ever, ever […] but when they finish, they’re going to come together masterfully.”

In the comments section of the interview, some fans took issue with TI putting Nipsey Hussle in the same group as Eminem and Andre 3000. Others adamantly came to the late rapper’s defense. One argued: “Nip a [goat emoji] if you say otherwise you’re misinformed. You may not relate to his music if you don’t come from a similar background which is cool but for the majority of us who do come from that and actually understand the struggle of trying to transcend an environment where intellect is frowned upon to fulfill your true purpose….you know the impact he had and status he achieved.” Another wrote: “Nipsey Hussle will forever be one of the greatest, most of y’all haters in the comments must listen to P Diddy and MC Hammer.”

TI Discusses Working With Andre 3000

As for new music from TI, he recently shot down the possibility of releasing a collaborative project with Boosie Badazz. Appearing on the We In Miami podcast, earlier this month, he explained: “I feel like the time that we had allotted for it, we kind of passed by it. You know what I mean? It was ready. We got the records. But it’s so much that goes into releasing a record besides just releasing the record, and I feel like we kinda missed the window. Not saying that that window can’t present itself again. We have a very healthy relationship.”

Tyrese’s ex-wife, Samantha Lee, recently added a wildly different but compelling side to their nasty divorce story. For those unaware, the two are currently feuding quite heavily over the circumstances and post-breakup divisions in their relationship, whether on personal terms or in court. However, it seems like this bad blood hasn’t blinded her to what she sees as a mistake. Moreover, Lee recently appeared on the Hardly Initiated podcast with co-hosts Ryan Catchings and Tysean Jackson. During her appearance, she recalled how over three years of marriage went down the drain because of bad influences.

“It’s very important to seek wise counsel,” Samantha Lee remarked of the Tyrese situation. “You have to really decide and make a very calculated decision based on your belief systems. “I think we do take divorce very casually. I would never tell a woman to walk through that. [Not] in the same frame as I was when I did it. I was very, very, hurt, I was very angry. I remember when I made the decision. [When] I was hysterically crying on the phone with my attorney, I was not in any position to make that decision, I was extremely emotionally intoxicated. I would never tell somebody to make that decision when they’re that emotional but of course, I wasn’t talking to someone that genuinely would be for marriage or for reconciliation.

“That’s no slight to my attorney,” Samantha Lee continued about her split from Tyrese. “At the time when I was on the phone and I made that decision, I was livid. I was emotional. If I’m that emotional and I’m that hurt and I’m on that level, if it’s misguided and misdirected it could go in a bad direction. The people I had in my ear at the time were not for that. The truth about the matter is that if I had different people in my ear at that time I would not have made that decision. I’m an extremely emotional person. There will be moments where, like, ’I’m ready to be done, I can’t stand this! He don’t do this!’ We’re just focusing on these things. You don’t have a certain person in your life to check you and say ‘Sis, what about this, what about these strengths?’

“You may not be thinking about when you’re upset,” she concluded. “You’re only thinking about what you’re mad about, you’re not thinking about all the other positive aspects of this person. So in those moments, you need somebody to be that person for that person in those moments. You don’t win when a family is broken apart. There was a marital therapist that was speaking to both me and him. He said when you get lawyers involved, it gets ugly. I didn’t even realize how ugly it would get. Like, if I could walk back in time… Sometimes I battle with myself about that. But at the time, I thought I was doing the right thing or the best thing. Method Man is the latest guest on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s iconic podcast Drink Champs. Speaking with the hosts for Saturday’s episode, the legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper reflected on the making of “Method Man” off of Enter The Wu-Tang, working with The Notorious B.I.G., Queen Latifah, and more.

Of his breakout self-titled song, Method Man recalled interpolating songs that he was into at the time. “‘Hey, you, get off my cloud/You don’t know me [and] you don’t know my style.’ Who is that?” he asked. “I think that’s Bootsy Collins (“Disciples of Funk”). But it was stuck in my head, right? So by the time I got to the ‘M-e-t-h-o-d, Man,’ that was already etched in my head from ‘M-e-t-h-o-d-o-f-l-o-v-e’ (“Method of Modern Love”). [I’m a] Big Hall & Oates fan. The ‘man’ part came from Masta Ace [because] one of my favorite records was ‘The Music Man.’” He added: “The other hook part, ‘I got, fat bags of…,’ that’s The Beatles (“Come Together”).”

Speaking of Method Man’s acting career, he recently revealed that he’s interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an interview with CASSIUS, he explained that he’d like to play the X-Men character, Bishop, in an upcoming film. “Those guys at the MCU, they know their stuff,” he told the outlet. “I haven’t had any problems with any of their casting choice so far. So whoever gets the job. I think Omar Sy did an excellent job as Bishop, but that was before MCU. If they chose him again, I think he’d kill it. There’s a few people out there. But if they’re willing to give me a shot, I’d go for it. Plus, I’ve done all the research already.”

Tasha K jumped on Instagram Live on Saturday to lambast Joe Budden for shelving an interview they did together out of respect for Cardi B. Tasha K labeled the iconic podcast host “all bark, but no bite.” Cardi B famously sued Tasha K back in 2019 for defamation.

“I now understand why nobody fucks with Joe,” Tasha K said. “Joe is all bark, but no bite. You said you was going to do this, but then when I hear, ‘Oh, he’s gotta comb through the interview, he’s gotta make sure this and make sure that.’ I bodied each and every one of those Black men to the point that all of them said after they were done, ‘We’re winos.’”

She continued: “I sat outside and I had a conversation with this Black man. I said, ‘You know what’s sad? Is that we cannot as Black media stick together for the betterment of the people.’ And he was like, ‘Black media will never do it.’ And now, he’s literally owning up to his own words.” From there, Tasha said she regrets doing the interview, while further calling out Cardi B. “I honestly regret sitting down with him and giving him that one interview that would shake social media so bad that it shook his fake ass… in that lace shirt with his belly sitting over his dick that he did exactly what the BBL told him to do, because just like every other weak-ass Black man they choose ass over bills,” she said.

Budden’s decision to cancel the Tasha K interview comes after he recently feuded with Cardi after criticizing her new song “Bongos.” After Cardi took issue with his comments, Budden eventually admitted that he regretted the beef and that it “hurts my heart.”

Dwyane Wade Gets Candid About Letting Go Of Zaya Wade’s Future In Basketball

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are raising a beautiful family and all of their kids are very talented and poised for success in the future. Having two superstar parents who have seen it all in their lives, like Dwyane and Gabrielle, is an amazing perk to have. However, it can also be a con. When kids have celebrity parents who have excelled in their respective fields, society, and sometimes the parents, expect them to follow in their footsteps. That is something that Dwyane was dealing with himself.

One child that he felt was destined for the NBA was his then-son, Zion. Wade and Siovaughn Funches gave birth to him on May 29, 2007. But, Zion then changed her name to Zaya in 2019 and came out publicly as trans one year later. With that change, Zaya has been pursuing a career as a runway model and she is already making strides. For any parent, having a child transition can be a tough thing to accept, but Dwyane spoke with glee and truthfulness about supporting Zaya.

In the clip above, Wade is speaking with ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast about letting go of his plans for Zaya. His close friends, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, have kids who are on track to reach the NBA. Those were his aspirations for Zaya but, as Wade said, “Then I got to meet my child.” He continues candidly, “And a lot of people like to talk about Zaya’s transition, but to me, Zaya hasn’t transitioned into anything. She’s but a kid, and now becoming a young adult.” He is fully embracing her daughter’s life choices and she is killing it right now in the fashion industry at just 16 years old.
