Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty Score Legal Victory in Assault Lawsuit

plea deal Nicki Minaj Kenneth Petty LA

Two years ago, a security guard from a venue in Germany filed a lawsuit against rapper Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty, alleging that Petty assaulted him after a fan was allowed to run on stage during a concert. Now, Nicki and Zoo have scored a small victory in the legal battle after a judge branded the accuser’s request for damages ‘excessive’ and demanded further evidence.

According to a report from Radar Online, the man who sued Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty, identified as Thomas Weidenmuller, sought a default judgment against the duo in a Los Angeles Superior Court. However, the judge denied the motion at a recent hearing, citing issues with the authentication of Weidenmuller’s medical bills.

The court found that Weidenmuller’s medical records from Germany needed to be translated into English by a qualified interpreter and certified under oath. This requirement underscores the importance of accurate documentation in legal proceedings, particularly when it comes to substantiating claims of damages.

Furthermore, the judge deemed the request for general damages in the amount of $700,000 as “excessive,” signaling a potential setback for Weidenmuller’s case. This decision reflects the court’s scrutiny of the damages sought and its commitment to ensuring fair and reasonable compensation in accordance with the law.

In response to the judge’s ruling, Weidenmuller has been granted additional time to address the issues with his motion and provide the necessary documentation. This extension offers him the opportunity to rectify any deficiencies and strengthen his case before the court.

The legal victory for Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty represents a significant development in the ongoing lawsuit, signaling a potential shift in momentum. As the case progresses, both parties will continue to navigate the complexities of the legal system in pursuit of a resolution.

As the lawsuit unfolds, the outcome will have broader implications for the entertainment industry and the legal responsibilities of performers and venue operators. In the meantime, Nicki Minaj, Kenneth Petty, and Weidenmuller will await further proceedings as they seek to resolve the dispute through the judicial process.

Donna Summer’s Estate Accuses Kanye West Of Copyright Infringement Following The Release Of His Joint Album ‘Vultures’

Despite its many delays, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s joint album, Vultures, has finally dropped. Unfortunately, not everyone is excited by its release. Today (February 10), in an Instagram Story, Donna Summer’s estate voiced their anger over West’s use of the late singer’s music.

“Kanye West asked permission to use Donna Summer’s song ‘I Feel Love,’ [and] he was denied,” they wrote. “He changed the word, [then] had someone re-sign it or used AI. But it’s ‘I Feel Love.’ Copyright infringement!”

They then went on to tag West, his collaborator Ty Dolla Sign, and even Sharon Osbourne. Why Sharon Osbourne? Well, for those keeping count, this marks the third musician (or their family) to come out to explicitly state that they did not clear West’s use of their work.

On February 9, Ozzy Osbourne took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam West for his alleged unauthorized use of his song “War Pigs.” But the post has since been deleted.

Backstreet Boys are also rumored to have pushed back against West’s use of their 1997 hit, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”

Even Nicki Minaj has refused to clear her previously recorded verse for his previously leaked song, “New Body.”

Could Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s album lead them to a lengthy legal battle? Fans will have to stay tuned.

For months, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign, have promoted their joint album, Vultures. From pop-up performances and live listening events, the production duo has keep fans involved at every stage of the project. But supporters weren’t the only folks lasering in on Vultures.

Several musicians including Nicki Minaj, Backstreet Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, and the estate of Donna Summer have refused to give the okay of either their verses or sample usage. These decisions could have certainly contributed to the album’s multiple delays. In spite of the setbacks, the duo managed to drop Vultures. But not everyone can listen to the new album.

Is Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures Available On Spotify?

Saweetie Weighed In On The Megan Thee Stallion/Nicki Minaj Beef And How It Highlights Rap’s Double Standard

Saweetie had some insightful thoughts on the rap beef between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj and how it ties into rap’s double standard for women, which she shared during an interview with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson.

The Bay Area rapper was a special guest for a live recording of Sharpe and Johnson’s YouTube show The Nightcap in Las Vegas, where she fielded Sharpe’s inquiry, “What is it with women and rap beef?”

“I always wonder why people even ask that,” she replied. “cause when the men have their beef it’s like, ‘Oh ok it’s a sport’ but when the women do it, it’s not seen as a sport. I feel like when there’s beef, it’s a sport, and you’re basically saying who’s the most witty and who’s the most clever.”

She also pointed out how Nicki and Meg are technically only really involved in a “beef” because, in her view, “If they was battle rapping then it wouldn’t be beef, they’d be going at each other on stage like this. But now that it’s singles, it’s brought a bigger audience to it.”

She also dismissed the idea of getting involved in a feud herself over subliminal disses like the ones between Meg and Nicki, saying, “If my name ain’t on it, then it’s not directed towards me. I feel like if you don’t say my name then you ain’t really ‘bout it.” (I feel like Saweetie’s a Jay-Z fan.)

Did Latto Diss Nicki Minaj On ‘Sunday Service?’

Latto may say her new song “Sunday Service” isn’t a “diss song,” but that doesn’t mean she didn’t use the opportunity to take a few shots at foes like Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj. As with plenty of records in this lane, she keeps things vague enough to stick to just about anyone the taunts apply to, but not overt enough to dominate the track and derail fans’ ability to enjoy the boastful raps.

While promoting the track, Latto dropped cover artwork that featured several women in rap, which some fans interpreted as a call-out. However, she said the cover was merely paying homage to her peers and influences, whether she has beef with them or not. However, as she has had beef with Nicki Minaj in the past, fans were undoubtedly wondering if she reserved a few lines for the woman she previously dismissed as an “angry aunty.”

Well, if the shoe fits, wear it, and there is at least one line in Nicki’s dainty size. In the second verse, she raps, “These bitches corny, soon as monkey see, then you know monkey do / Do you rap or do you tweet? ‘Cause I can’t tell, get in the booth, bitch / Stop all that motherfuckin’ yellin’, ho / ‘Cause I ain’t buyin’ what you’re sellin’, ho.” Some fans have interpreted this as a shot at Nicki, who’s displayed a propensity for going on days-long Twitter rants about her enemies, but notably never actually delivered a diss track directed at Latto — although some fans stretched one particular line to make it seem she might have. Of course, Nicki’s initial attack on Latto sort of blew up in her face, so it makes sense that she’d be reluctant to do so again, preferring to instead lash out through proxy Ice Spice. We’ll see if the latest salvo changes things.

You can check out Latto’s video for “Sunday Service” above.

Saweetie Shares Her Thoughts On Nicki Minaj And Megan Thee Stallion Rap Beef

Even as fans try and process whether or not there’s a new high-profile rap beef between Latto and Ice Spice, many are still processing what happened starting late last month. That’s when the biggest story in all of rap so far this year broke out, a beef between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion. The two hard-hitting MCs released a pair of diss tracks called “HISS” and “Big Foot.” While both got off to a strong start commercially, only “HISS” really kept it up. The song leaped to a commanding number-one debut on the Hot 100.

Now, Saweetie is sharing her thoughts on the beef between the pair and rap beefs between women rappers at large. Unsurprisingly, she doesn’t choose a side between Megan and Nicki. Instead, she chooses to compare how their beef is being treated to how beef between male rappers is treated. “I wonder why people even ask that because when the men have their beef it’s like ‘oh ok it’s a sport’ but when the women do it, it’s not seen as a sport,” she said in the interview. Check out the full clip of her answer below.

Saweetie’s Take On Women In Rap Beefing

In the comments fans agree with her take and support her for being willing to say it. “she handled it like a pro” and “Saweetie WAKE THAT TEA UP!” two of the most liked replies to her comments read. Fans in the comments also discuss the brewing trouble between Latto and Ice Spice. Despite the formers insistence that her new song isn’t a diss track, fans think the lyrics say differently.

Saweetie is still pretty fresh off of her breakup with YG last month. The pair hadn’t been dating for a particularly long time but they had very much been in the public eye before calling it quits. What do you think of Saweetie’s response to the question about Nicki and Megan’s beef? Do you think female rap beefs are handled differently than men? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rick Ross & Logan Paul Discuss Megan Thee Stallion’s Feud With Nicki Minaj: Watch

Rick Ross is one of the most recognizable figures in modern hip-hop, not only due to his larger-than-life persona but also thanks to his lyrical prowess and hunger to consistently better himself. His last album, Too Good To Be True in tandem with Meek Mill hit streamers at the end of 2023. Already, the former correctional officer is teasing more music on the way soon. For the most part, Ross’ recent efforts have been celebrating his birthday, as well as spoiling his latest lover, Cristina Mackey, with a brand new pair of teeth.

Between all that, Rozay found time to appear on the Impaulsive podcast, at which time he spoke with Logan Paul and co-hosts about some of the drama playing out in the industry at this time. Adin Ross’ scamming at the hands of 21 Savage came up in conversation, as did Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj’s messy internet drama. When giving his take on the latter situation, Ross seemed to argue that there’s no such thing as going “too far” in rap beef. “This a sport. It’s Hip-Hop, it’s about having that fun. I call it fun. Megan got off her record, she got off her joint,” the former correctional officer reflected.

Rick Ross Says Nicki Minaj Didn’t Go Too Far in Mentioning Her Opp’s Late Mother

“You know Nicki being the queen she is in the rap game, she responded, got off a record, and that’s what you supposed to do,” the Richer Than I Ever Been artist reflected. “Is she disrespecting her dead mother? I haven’t heard it. I’ve done things too. When I’m at odds and I’m making my music, I’ve done things and said things So, sometimes it’s f**k ‘em.”

Before Rick Ross gave his take on the femcees getting their feelings out through their music, Tokyo Toni had some things to say too. According to Blac Chyna’s mother, she thinks that Minaj and Thee Stallion could’ve been faking their feud to get more attention from the public. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Nicki Minaj Tour Rehearsal Footage Shows “FTCU” Choreography: Watch

Nicki Minaj took a lengthy hiatus from music between 2018’s Queen and 2023’s Pink Friday 2. Since the latter finally arrived, however, she’s hardly taken her foot off the industry’s neck, between tapping legends like 50 Cent, Monica, and Keyshia Cole to join her on the deluxe cut, to preparing for her quickly approaching World Tour. Members of The Barbz already have their tickets, and while they wait for Minaj to hit the road, they’ve been keeping a close eye on her social media for hints of what’s to come.

For the most part, late January and early February have been about responding to Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” single. The Queen of Rap’s “Big Foot” diss track clapping back at her nemesis received mixed reactions online, but she hasn’t let that stop her from continuing to fuel the fire. After Meg took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart, Minaj turned her attention back to Gag City, which she’s been previewing bits of on Instagram Live.

Earlier this week, the mother of one gave a look at how choreography is coming together. Arguably the most popular song from PF2, “FTCU” obviously has an eye-catching routine lined up, though Minaj didn’t show how her dance moves are looking in comparison to her backup performers, who seem to be putting in serious work.

Now that Nicki Minaj has turned her focus away from Megan Thee Stallion and back toward her impending tour, a few other femcees have stepped up to carry on the baton of hip-hop drama. After Ice Spice went viral with her first single of 2024, Latto is planning to drop hers, called “Sunday Service” on New Music Friday (February 9), and hip-hop heads are speculating whether or not she’ll diss the Bronx baddie. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
