Kanye West’s Sunday Service Stripped Of Charity Status Over Tax Issues

Kanye West has been through so many different eras that Sunday Service feels like decades ago. In truth, the rapper’s charity organization was launched in 2019. The organization was a catch all for the rapper during an explicitly Christian period in his life. He sought to incorporate his religion into his art and his music. As such, Sunday Service was given a tax exemption. The government decreed that it fell under the 501(c)(3) organization label, which means it promotes “religious, educational, or charitable” purpose. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case.

Kanye West’s Sunday Service was stripped of its charity status on May 14. The Sun reported that the IRS revoked the status on the grounds of improper tax filing. The organization failed to file a Form 990-series return or notice for “three consecutive years.” This will no doubt being a heartbreaking update for Kanye West, who claimed that spent $50 million of his own money on Sunday Service in 2020. The rapper was compelled to spread his Christian message, and thus paid to bring the Sunday Service Choir to join him at Coachella.

Kanye West Has Been Less Involved With Sunday Service

“I spent every dime that I have for marketing from Yeezy on Sunday Service,” he told Nick Cannon in 2020. “Every dollar I had. I spent $50 million last year on Sunday Service… The Yeezys, they were selling themselves. So instead of paying for ads, I invested it in the church. I invested in spreading [the] gospel. I invested in saying Jesus’ name on high.” Kanye West’s involvement with Sunday Service has withered in recent years, however. The rapper has returned to making secular music with his VULTURES series. He’s also sparked controversy due to a string of antisemitic comments.

Kanye West helped promote the Sunday Service Choir album Jesus Is Born in 2019. Since then, however, the choir and the organization writ large have been left to fend for themselves. A second release, Sample Sounds, was released in 2022 to minimal fanfare. Jason White, the man who co-founded Sunday Service with West, spoke to Broadway World about the release. Tellingly, he did not mention West’s name once, despite their previous musical collaborations. “We’re really, really excited,” White stated. “To see how [the release] will spark creativity in so many different artists and producers.”

Meek Mill Seemingly Praises Donald Trump In Confusing Twitter Rant

Meek Mill put his Twitter fingers to use on August 14. The rapper decided to weigh in on several notable figures, including Kamala Harris, Mark Cuban, and Elon Musk. The figure who drew most of his attention, though, was former President Donald Trump. Meek Mill gave lots of thoughts on Trump, especially with regards to the former President’s assassination attempt. He made it clear that he was impressed with Trump, even if little else about his string of tweets was clear.

The whole thing kicked off with Meek Mill discussing Stormy Daniels. The rapper recalled watching the Daniels while he was locked up, and claimed to have learned about Donald Trump through said trial. He was taken with what he learned, apparently. “My X has turned back to Trump life again,” he said. “Never did a history check on Trump he even been to my hood with ot7 mobbing.” Then, in a separate tweet, the Philadelphia rapper gave his thoughts on the Trump assassination attempt. The verdict? Mill believed the ex-President handled it with style.

Meek Mill Clarified That He Doesn’t Endorse Trump

“He got shot at basically put his middle finger up after a bang out got hit in the head nobody ran,” Meek Mill wrote. “Hope you get well too we get shot at a lot.” The rapper proceeded to marvel at the fact that Donald Trump was indicted on multiple crimes and is still mounting a presidential run. “Got indicted still running for president,” he concluded. “Who is this guy Trump fr I know some wild guys but wtf lol just my thoughts.” Fans flocked to quote tweet and comment on Meek Mill’s tweet. Perhaps sensing that some controversy was headed his way, the rapper decided to clarify a few things.

Despite praising Trump’s behavior, Meek Mill stated that he was not endorsing any political candidate. “I’m not endorsing anybody I know nothing about politics,” he wrote in a follow up tweet. “He was owning building I was living in north Philly in poverty. Getting shot at seeing death going to jail for environmental sh*t. All I see on phones and TVs is Trump, it’s like tf is this guy.” The one political cause Meek Mill has been vocal about is prison reform. He even told fans he’d like the chance to discuss reform with Kamala Harris. “I would ask her 3 questions about black and brown men going to prison and her views and try to help her understand,” he asserted.

Rihanna Rumored To Drop New Album And Launch World Tour In 2025

Rihanna is nothing if not patient. The pop superstar has been teasing fans with new music for nearly a decade. Somehow, there’s still no concrete details. That being said, a new report by the UK outlet The Sun claims to have the inside scoop of Ri’s upcoming moves. If they are to be believed, fans will get the comeback they’ve been waiting for. The outlet posited that Rihanna is “on the cusp” of dropping her new album, and will promptly support it with a world tour in 2025.

The claims were made by Sun journalist Jason Hardwick. He promised fans that he had inside info from Rihanna’s camp, and the pop star is planning a full-on return to the spotlight. “Rihanna’s ninth album is finally on the cusp of being released,” he asserted. If Hardwick’s claims are true, then it makes the other news even more thrilling. “[Rihanna is] also in talks for a huge world tour throughout 2025, which has the potential to be one of the biggest comebacks of all time.” Furthermore, the outlet posits that Rihanna will keep the momentum from her tour going. She’s allegedly considering a headline set at Glastonbury.

Rihanna Confirmed That She’s Been Recording

Rihanna allegedly booked a headline set at the legendary festival in 2023. Her second pregnancy kept her from performing, however. “I understand she is once again at the top of Glastonbury’s list to headline next summer’s event,” Hardwick added. The only way to validate these claims, of course, is to find out if they come true. Rihanna has been intensely private when it comes to the rollout for her new album. She told Entertainment Tonight that it took a little bit of time to shake the cobwebs off in the studio. “Music, for me, is a new discovery,” she claimed. “I’ve been working on the album for so long that I put all that aside. Now I’m ready to get back in the studio.”

As thrilling as it was to know Rihanna was in the studio, fans were dealt a blow in June. The pop star told the outlet that she was starting the album from scratch. Evidently, she wanted to improve on what she’d already recorded. “I’m starting over, but I don’t want to neglect the songs I already have,” she noted. “I want to listen to everything with new ears. From my new perspective, and see what.. resonate with me.” Rihanna’s partner, ASAP Rocky, is slated to make his comeback in August, so hopefully she follows suit.

Ian’s Manager Calls Out Tyler, The Creator After Alleged Interview Diss

Tyler, The Creator isn’t shy when it comes to sharing his opinion. He’s been an outspoken person since he was famous. Nothing has changed, despite the fact that he’s now one of the most revered artists of his generation. He still highlights the things he has a problem with, and the specific people who embody said problem. Enter Ian. Tyler, The Creator didn’t mention the breakout rapper by name, but he did make it very clear that he has an issue with a guy who fits Ian’s description. Ian’s manager didn’t appreciate it.

The revelation came about during Tyler, The Creator’s recent appearance on Spring Hill. He broke into a discussion about a “white kid” that has recently become huge for what he considers to be all the wrong reasons. “This white kid. Regular Caucasian man,” Tyler noted. “And he’s like mocking Future and Gucci Mane… like rap music.” Tyler, The Creator then expressed confusion over why people are supporting the rapper in question. “People are like, ‘this sh*t hard,’” he explained. “It’s not even like satire… I hold rap music so close to my heart. This sh*t changed my life and everyone’s life around me.” The perceived disses against Ian did not go over well with the rapper’s manager, Bu Thiam.

Ian’s Manager Said Tyler, The Creator Sounded ‘Old’

Thiam, who is Akon’s brother in addition to being a talent manager, clapped back at Tyler, The Creator. He attempted to shut down Tyler’s claim that Ian copies the likes of Future and other Atlanta emcees. In Thiam’s estimation, Ian is simply taking influence. The same way that, say, Tyler, The Creator does when he emulates Pharrell Williams. Thiam also noted that he was from the ATL. “Yo, I signed Ian and I’m from Atlanta,” the manager wrote on his Instagram Story. “He sounds nothing like Gucci or Future lol. It’s called influence.”

Thiam then turned the tables on Tyler, The Creator and essentially labeled him an old head. The rapper who was once championed chaos and being different has, according to Thiam, become a hater. Ian is the new wave as far as the manager is concerned, and should be afforded the same benefit of the doubt that Tyler was given. “I never thought I’d see the day,” Thiam asserted. “Where you become old and hate on the youth lol.” Which side do you agree with?

Meek Mill Doesn’t Have “A Gay Bone In His Body,” Michael Rubin Confirms

Meek Mill is someone who social media users love to clown. Whether he’s being roasted for his outfits, remarks, or something else entirely, it’d be tough to find a single post that doesn’t have a heap of haters in the comments section. One thing critics frequently speculate about is his sexuality. According to Michael Rubin, however, the theory that he’s gay is completely unfounded.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Rubin discussed ongoing rumors about Meek’s sexuality. He also addressed a viral video of the rapper doing bunny hops on a tennis court in 2021, which resurfaced earlier this year and fueled the rumors. “When I see the narrative of, a really good friend of mine like Meek, and people are trying to … Again, if he was gay — which there’s not one gay bone in his body — who cares, number one. If people wanna be gay, it is 2024. Who the f*ck cares?” he began.

Michael Rubin Discusses Meek Mill’s Sexuality

“Number two, there’s not a gay bone in his body, so why do people wanna lie about that? Why do people want to change the narrative of a bet he made with me to try to hurt him?” Rubin also added. “That is the one thing I’ve learned about, you know, look, I’m just being blunt because it’s me. It’s the one thing I’ve learned about Black culture that I don’t like is that Black hate on hate [sic].”

As for the infamous bunny hops video, Meek addressed that when it made its rounds on X back in May. “This a game I started from prison we used to make killers do bunny hops when they loss because it was too hostile for money,” he told fans at the time. Missy Elliott Shocks Fans By Bringing Out Lil Kim During Show: Watch

Missy Elliott is still rocking. The legendary rapper has been headlining the first solo tour of her career, and it’s gone fantastic. Fans have been impressed by Elliott’s stage presence and energy this far into her career. On Monday, though, the rapper decided to share the spotlight. Missy Elliott brought out Lil Kim on the Brooklyn leg of her tour, and the reception was rapturous. Fans were thrilled to see two iconic female emcees share the stage together. Especially since Elliott and Kim rarely crossed paths in the last couple years.

Lil Kim came out and performed her 2003 hit “The Jump Off” before a screaming crowd. Then, her and Missy Elliott joined forces to rap their 1997 collab “Not Tonight (Ladies Night).” It was a special moment, especially given Kim’s status as a Brooklyn icon. Missy Elliott and Lil Kim may have very different styles on paper, but the two rappers collaborated frequently during the 90s and 2000s. Missy Elliott helped to write Lil Kim’s 2001 smash “Lady Marmalade.” The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Kim and company a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Missy Elliott And Lil Kim Have Been Friends For Decades

Missy Elliott and Lil Kim’s personal lives have taken priority in recent years. The latter told Entertainment Tonight that the birth of her son slowed her musical output in the mid-2000s. That said, Kim made sure to give Elliott some love. “I’m just really excited to see my friends. Missy Elliott is my sister,” she gushed. “She’s a long-term friend and just someone that I love dearly.” The last time Kim and Elliott appeared on a song together was the remix to the 2017 single “I’m Better.” The remix also featured verses from Trina and Eve.

The love goes both ways. Missy Elliott told VH1 that she was an enormous fan of Lil Kim’s music, and knows several lyrics by heart. “Like, I know every lyric, cos you hear people sing with conviction – she rapped with conviction,” Elliott asserted. “You believe every word she said […] She’s such a sweetheart, but she could knock if you buck if it gets down… Before me and Kim are friends, I’m a fan.” You can see the chemistry between these two rappers throughout the years, and it’s still obvious on stage. Fingers crossed these two will link up for a new song in the near future.

50 Cent Suspects Alleged Diddy Tapes Are Keeping Peers “Quiet” Amid Legal Saga

50 Cent has been a particularly vocal critic of Diddy amid the Bad Boy Records founder’s ongoing legal saga. He frequently trolls his longtime rival on social media and also produced a docuseries about the debacle. In a new interview with US Weekly, he gave fans an update on the eagerly anticipated project. He also shared the simple reason he decided to take it on in the first place.

“I’m the only person in hip-hop culture that has produced any hit television. Why wouldn’t I be the person to produce it?” he began. “And I’m not on the tapes. See, some of the people who have been around in the culture who are not saying anything—that’s because they’ve been to the parties… They don’t know what part of their experiences are on tape.”

He’s also been accused of sexual assault, abuse, and more by several others.

In March of this year, two of the music mogul’s mansions were also raided by Homeland Security as part of a federal human trafficking investigation. 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film and Television sold his Diddy docuseries to Netflix in May. An official release date has not yet been announced. What do you think of 50 Cent speculating that Diddy’s alleged secret tapes are the reason his celebrity peers aren’t speaking out?
