Usher Kicks Off Anticipated Tour After Suffering Serious Neck Injury

Usher was born to perform. Few artists have managed to rival the electricity of prime Michael Jackson. Usher, however, has managed to do so for multiple decades. Fans were absolutely thrilled to discover that Usher was planning a “Past, Present, Future” tour that would incorporate his iconic hits. A neck injury seemed as though it would derail the singer’s tour plans, but he bounced back. Usher made sure the fans got what they wanted, and kicked off his tour this week in Washington, D.C.

TMZ confirmed that Usher put on stellar shows on both Tuesday and Wednesday at the Capital One Arena. The singer was electric as ever in terms of performance. He also found time to bring out several guest stars including Raheem DeVaughn and Wale. Usher has worked with both artists in the past, and their D.C. roots made them a natural inclusion. There was some initial concern that Usher would have to postpone his tour for several weeks due to the severity of his injury. He broke the news regarding the injury on Instagram on August 15. “Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck,” he wrote. “While rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time.”

The singer also informed fans that he would have to miss the first week of shows he had scheduled. Shows that were set to be in the singer’s hometown of Atlanta. He was disappointed, but maintained that his doctors told him to rest up. “The injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week,” he continued. “The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour on August 20.” To the singer’s credit, he did just that. He made good on his word, and gave the D.C. crowd two stellar shows.

Fans who missed the first week of shows needn’t worry. TMZ reports that Usher will make up the ATL leg of his tour in December. The singer noted his Instagram post by reminding fans that he takes performing very seriously. He will whatever necessary to provide attendees with the best possible show. “I love my fans,” he wrote. “Thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon.” Usher’s “Past, Present, Future” tour is slated run through 2025.

Drake Seemingly Mocks Kendrick Lamar On New Song “Circadian Rhythm”

Drake does not mention anybody by name on “Circadian Rhythm.” The song refers to “they” during the rapper’s verses, but the context is crucial. Drake is finally talking about the Kendrick Lamar battle on wax again, and he wants to make it clear he’s not bothered. “Circadian Rhythm” is dedicated to this concept. The 6 God flips the meaning of the title to point out that he’s still “up” when his competition is down. He hasn’t lost a step, per his bars. There are specific lines littered throughout, though, that seem specifically aimed at K. Dot.

“How many quotes I wrote? How much gold I struck? Ayy,” Drake raps during second verse. “How many funeral dates they plan for me, and I dodged it like the truck? Yeah.” The funeral dates seem like a fairly pointed reference to Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out Show on Juneteenth. The concert was dubbed a funeral for Drake online, due to how much Lamar celebrating onstage. He played “Not Like Us” a whopping five times to close out the show. Drake’s rebuttal? He’s still here, still alive despite Dot’s best efforts.

Drake’s Title References A Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

It’s also worth noting the use of the phrase “Circadian Rhythm.” It’s never said once during the song. A song in which it is said, though, is Kendrick Lamar’s “6:16 In L.A.” The Compton rapper pulled out these specific words on his second official Drake diss. “I know this type of power is gon’ cost,” Dot raps. “But I live in circadian rhythms of a shooting star.” Drake and Kendrick Lamar are not artists who do things by accident. Everything is intentional with them, so it’s hard to imagine this is a mere coincidence. The title of the song also prove important with regards to Drake’s past.

The rapper subtitled “Circadian Rhythm” as “The Language 2.” This is obviously in reference to his 2013 song, “The Language.” The connection is noteworthy, because the original song is believed to be Drake’s response to Kendrick Lamar after the latter dropped the “Control” verse. Drizzy and Kenny were involved in a cold war in 2013, and the former clearly sends subs the latter’s way. “I don’t know why they’ve been lying but your sh*t is not that inspiring,” he raps. “F*ck any n**ga that’s talkin’ that sh*t just to get a reaction.” Time really is a flat circle.

Rick Ross Sends Ominous Message To Music Industry Insiders: Watch

Rick Ross fancies himself a businessman as well as a rapper. Hence all the “boss” talk. He runs MMG, and he’s been openly critical of labels who don’t properly deal with their artists. It’s part of the reason Ross and Birdman had such an ugly falling out. Rick Ross has decided to set his sights higher than the Cash Money founder, though. The rapper went on Instagram Live on August 23 to announce that a storm is coming in the music industry. And he wants to help wash away all the corruption that’s taken root.

“As an artist, but also as a businessman,” Rick Ross told his followers. “There’s been a lot of shakeups at the top of the industry. And I would like to know the ramifications.” The rapper went on to name several notable industry figures who have been let go in recent years. “When you see the titans in the industry being replaced, is it a good thing,” he questioned. “Is it a bad thing? How do you take it? Did they no longer have their finger on the pulse to find the next Ice Spice?” Rick Ross lets these questions settle with the viewer before continuing.

Rick Ross Likened The Music Industry to ‘Game Of Thrones’

The MMG boss makes it clear that change is in the air, and he’s going to be involved in said change. Regardless of where it takes him. He even threw out a lengthy parallel to Game of Thrones, and the way that power is meant to change hands. “The kings and queens are being beheaded,” he noted. He then quoted one of his own songs. “The game ain’t based on sympathy,” he asserted. “So if the higher-ups could find someone better to do it for cheaper, your f*cking head will roll next.”

Rick Ross isn’t the only rapper who has been talking industry politics. Kanye West, a frequent Rozay collaborator, has been embroiled in a very public battle with Atlantic Records. West claimed that the label threatened to take his last two albums down from streaming platforms. He also said that Julie Greenwald, a longtime Atlantic CEO, has been let go. Rick Ross previously stated that he wanted to sign Kanye West to MMG. Now, however, it seems like both rappers are aiming to maintain control of what they have.

Drake Fires Back At Rappers Who Dissed Him On New Song “No Face”

Drake is keeping it moving. The dust has barely settled on the rapper’s “100 GIGS” release, and now we have three new songs. A lot of the attention will go to “Supersoak,” the anticipated Lil Yachty leak that no longer features Lil Yachty. That said, “No Face” has the most fascinating bars. Drake and Playboi Carti go back and forth on a hard rage beat. Carti does his thing, per usual. Drake, however, takes the time to call out the rappers who dissed him in 2024. It’s a long list, and the Toronto superstar decides to side swipe them all with a couple lines.

We’ve heard Drake go the detailed route. “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” were instances of him dissing each of his enemies specifically. He found time to poke fun at The Weeknd, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, and of course, Kendrick Lamar. “No Face” opts for a different approach. The 6 God decides to go vague with it, and hint at what’s to come. “I’m just so happy,” he raps. “That n**gas who envied and held that sh*t in got to finally show it.” The second line, though, is more ominous. “I’m over the moon, yeah, we’ll see you boys soon,” Drake adds. This isn’t the only time on “No Face” the 6 God decides to address what went down between him and the rest of the rap game.

Drake Tells His Enemies That He’ll See Them “Soon”

Much has been made about Drake’s diminishing ability to make hits. The “Drake stimulus package” that ran R&B and hip hop for over a decade has been labeled obsolete. The rapper doesn’t much care for that take. He reminds everyone that he helped people like Ross, Rocky, and The Weeknd blow up. “This is the sh*t that my daddy had raised me on. N**gas got lit off the features I skated on,” he spits. “I gotta know, I gotta know. How you get lit off the n**ga you hatin’ on?” Drake is planning something big, and the bulk of his verse at the something without every revealing what it is.

The rest of Drake’s first verse bears this out. He even makes reference to the advice that people like OVO 40 have been giving him behind closed doors. “40 keep sayin’ it’s time to be patient,” he explains. “It’s so many people we turnin’ the tables on. Capo got plans, but we’ll save that for later on. Hush’ll keep sayin’ they know that they played it wrong.” The 6 God is definitely back on his subliminal game. We’re curious and excited to see where the rest of Drake’s 2024 goes.

Drake Surprise Drops Three New Songs On Instagram

Drake is back. He wasn’t gone that long, but still. The Toronto rapper surprised fans everywhere by dropping three new songs on his Instagram burner account. The songs include the unreleased collab with Playboi Carti, “No Face” and “Circadian Rhythm.” The latter is billed as a sequel to the rapper’s 2013 song “The Language.” The biggest revelation, though, is that Drake finally put out a CDQ version of the highly anticipated song “Supersoak (SOD).” We knew it was coming, we just didn’t realize it was going to be this soon.

Drake previously linked up with Playboi Carti on “Pain 1993.” The vibe for “No Face” is a lot more angry and aggressive than their first collab, though. It definitely sounds more like a Playboi Carti song that just has a Drake feature tacked onto it. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing depends on how you feel about Carti. “Circadian Rhythm” is going to get the least attention, due to it having no feature or drama attached to it. That being said, it might just be the best song of the batch here. “Circadian Rhythm” has a great groove to it, and feels the most like a throwback Drake song. You’ll be able to tell why he made it a sequel to “The Language.”

Drake Officially Removed Lil Yachty From ‘Supersoak’

“Supersoak” is the big story here, though. Kai Cenat originally previewed the song during a live stream. Lil Yachty was featured on the original version. Yachty then went on the Flagrant podcast and claimed that the song would never be released due to a sample clearance issue. THEN Drake’s people claimed that the song would be coming out officially. Only, Lil Yachty wouldn’t be featured on it. This is what we meant when we previously alluded to “drama.” The Drake and Yachty saga doesn’t even get into Soulja Boy, and umbrage he took with Drake borrowing his “Supersoak” catchphrase. Drake and Soulja are not going to mend their fences, ever, it feels like.

All that said, “Supersoak” is a hit. It’s got a wildly catchy instrumental. It also features a Drake flow that is bound to get stuck in people’s heads. There’s been rumors that the rapper is already shooting a music video for the song, which all but confirms that it’s his next big single. We’ve yet to given information as to what happened between Drake and Lil Yachty. That said, fans can bask in the fact that we finally have the “Supersoak” song. Hopefully they all land on streaming soon.

Hurricane Chris Claims He’s Cool With 50 Cent After Dissing Him In Viral Rant

Hurricane Chris has had a rollercoaster week. The rapper went viral for criticizing 50 Cent’s Humor & Harmony Festival in Shreveport, Louisiana. He appreciated the love (and the money) 50 brought to the city, but lamented the fact that no local artists were involved. Hurricane Chris, for context, was born and raised in Shreveport. He labeled 50 Cent a “culture vulture” for his antics. He also took the G-Unit rapper to task for spending $500K on law enforcement during the four day festival. After a few days, though, the rapper had a change of heart.

Hurricane Chris clarified his feelings toward 50 Cent on August 22. He told KSLA News 12 that he has no personal issues with the G-Unit rapper, and felt like he’d been misunderstood. Calling someone “culture vulture” seems pretty pointed, but we digress. “It’s no hate,” Hurricane Chris told the outlet. “It’s all love, but I must voice my opinion because I been here, and I been in Shreveport.” The rapper went on to note that his negative comments toward 50 was a “big misunderstanding.” He even said that he’d be willing to collaborate with the rapper at some point in the future.

Hurricane Chris Is Open To Collaborating With 50 Cent

The real issue Hurricane Chris had with the event was the lack of local exposure. He appreciated what 50 was doing for his hometown. He just felt like hometown artists should have been present. “[Shreveport does] have artists,” the rapper told the outlet. “A lot of artists, more artists than that I can’t even name that would rock stages like that. It’s not about me.” Hurricane Chris once again made sure that he was square with 50 following his viral remarks. “I definitely had no malice,” he concluded. “It was just me wanting to see my community be respected… I was in one of those moods.”

50 Cent didn’t respond to Hurricane Chris’ retraction, but he did respond to the rapper’s initial disses. 50 responded exactly the way you would expect: memes and mockery. The G-Unit mastermind fired back at Hurricane Chris by dubbing him a one-hit wonder. “Oh no you not gonna play that one song you got,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “Bay Bay just went on stage wit Master P.” In a separate IG Story, 50 Cent flat out called Chris wack. “Boy ya sh*t is wack,” he wrote. “Ya sh*t gets no play in my ride.” Hurricane Chris definitely picked a fight with the wrong guy. Hopefully 50 agrees to bury the hatchet.

Cardi B Admits She Hated Living In Atlanta As Offset Divorce Develops

Cardi B has revealed a little more details about her relationship with Offset amid their divorce, and this time around, it concerns their living situation. Moreover, you may have already heard that Pooh Shiesty jumped on this news quick and thirsted after the Bronx femcee. This even led to an apparent response from the former Migo, but regardless, their actual dynamic is not as contentious as this would have you believe. Still, she recently admitted via Instagram Live on Thursday (August 22) that she never liked living in Atlanta, as she felt very lonely. Also, Cardi explained why she’s currently apartment-hunting in New York.

“Right now, I’m in the city, and I need to go take a shower,” Cardi B expressed, sharing that she’s tired of having to use her engineer’s gym’s bathroom or rent hotels to shower. “I’m going to be coming to have meetings with my label like twice a week. And on top of that, I’m trying to get an office out here. I don’t live in Atlanta, I have a house in Atlanta. I only go to Atlanta like three or four times a year. And probably I go for a week, maybe less. I tried to move to Atlanta in 2018 and I lived there for like six months. And I hated it. I don’t have not one friend in Atlanta, and I don’t have not even one family member in Atlanta. So I just don’t like Atlanta.”

Cardi B Admits She Hated Living In Atlanta

As such, it seems like this New York search doesn’t have anything to do with her divorce from Offset, but rather prepping for her next album and next child. Fans have been waiting for the project for a very long time, and we still don’t know exactly when we can expect it to be in our hands. Nevertheless, Cardi B is very excited to show the Bardi Gang what she has in store. She certainly has a lot of topics to address these days, so we’ll see if they appear on wax as well.

Meanwhile, Cardi B said she’s “comfortable” in New York and that she lives in her New Jersey home with her children. But elsewhere, other fans care less about the family drama and more about some rap beef speculation. She seemed to ask folks to not mention Nicki Minaj and JT during an Instagram Live session, responding directly to a fan who explicitly mentioned them. We’ll see if 2024 holds any more diss tracks than what we already got.
