Homeboy Sandman Targets The Cash In New Single & Music Video “$”: Stream

Homeboy Sandman is a very prolific artist, but don’t think that he’s not one to take a retrospective on his illustrious career. Moreover, he just released a new music video for “$,” one of the many great cuts off of the I Can’t Sell These mixtape from 2022, available exclusively on Bandcamp. “Money is the primary interruption between people and God,” the “Real Good” MC wrote in the video’s description on YouTube. “In other words, it is the primary interruption between people and reality. The truth is that everything and anything that comes to anyone comes from God. This is true of food, clothing, shelter, relationships, opportunities, capacities, experiences, lessons, anything. The falsehood that things are obtained through money and not God is the most devastating force that I witness around me in my day to day life.”

Not only that, but Homeboy Sandman previously called this his “favorite song [he’s] ever written” on Bandcamp. It’s not hard to see why: this is easily one of his most topically focused and thorough tracks as he goes over the issues with prioritizing money over happiness and health in a capitalist system. The Now! creative also pairs this with a drumless, dramatic, and lush string-carried instrumental, sampling “The Kiss” by Trevor Jones. To top it off, Nathan Dufour Oglesby (professionally known as Nathanology) provides a colorful, cartoonish, but nevertheless engaging visual treatment with a lot of allusive graphics and Sandman’s chilled-out rapping. It’s the kind of artistry, message, and presentation that the New York rapper’s always prioritized on past albums like 12 Days Of Christmas & Día De Los Reyes.

Moreover, she announced the “Like What” freestyle dropping this Friday (March 1), which has the Bardi Gang feeling like they’re on top of the world. ZelooperZ Drops Wacky Banger “Smearious”

ZelooperZ is a perfect example of crazy done right. The Detroit rapper is one to not do things normal compared to the rest of the talent from the blue-collar city. He emits the same energy as a Danny Brown for example. If you like his approach to hip-hop then you will certainly jive with him as well. The veteran ZelooperZ is back with his first solo single release since 2021 with “Smearious.”

Last year, the 30-year-old MC was pretty active in 2023. After not dropping an album since 2021, ZelooperZ went on a rampage delivering a solo tape Microphone Fiend, and Quazel, a collaboration with Quadie Diesel. He also delivered a ton of features as well. Some of his most notable include his contributions to the Valee and MVW team tape with the track “Pistachio.”

“Smearious” is a banger at its core with trunk-knocking production coming from Dilip. ZelooperZ brings the energy you come to expect and it is a perfect mix. Be sure to check it out with the link above.

Teezo Touchdown Cover Talking Heads’ “Making Flippy Floppy” For A24

Teezo Touchdown has quickly become one of the most sought after multi-hyphenates in the music industry. We primarly cover him when it pertains to hip-hop crossovers. However, this instance is for something totally different. After nabbing a big time placement on Lyrical Lemonade and Cole Bennett’s debut tape All is Yellow, the Texan is now assisting an indie film company with a soundtrack. That brand is A24, who in the latter half of last year got the chance to re-release the Talking Heads’ independent 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense. Teezo Touchdown is one of the artists that is going to be featured on the soundtrack as he covers Talking Heads’ “Making Flippy Floppy.”

According to Uproxx, alt rock band Paramore were the first to cover a track from the 1983 record Speaking In Tongues. They remade “Burning Down the House,” and now Teezo is the second artist to make the cut. The 40th anniversary remaster of the film hit theaters on September 22. However, the accompanying project of covers is still awaiting a release date.

However, we do have the name of the project, which is Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Stop Making Sense Tribute Album. The Talking Heads and Teezo Touchdown are honestly a mirroring image of each other. Both are extremely unconventional artists which makes things conventional in that sense. Teezo’s wild and entertaining voice steal the show and it would making Talking Heads proud.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Making Flippy Floppy,” by Teezo Touchdown? Is he the best genre-bending hip-hop adjacent artist out right now, why or why not? What was your favorite element of the song and why? Should he do more Talking Heads covers? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Lil Yachty, Fred Again.., & Overmono Collide On “Stayinit”

Lil Yachty’s imagination and creativity continues to run wild. Everyone knows the fascinating and explorative streak he has been since dropping Let’s Start Here. a little over a year ago. Sure, he has went back to his introductory trap rap style here and there. In fact, some of those reroutes have been fantastic releases. But, what has been really interesting is seeing him try out different instrumentals and genres. Today, Lil Yachty, Fred again.. and Overmono are working together on “Stayinit.”

Fred again.. is a hip-hop adjacent producer that we have covered quite a bit. He also likes to drop sick tracks with tech house and EDM instrumentals. That is where “Stayinit” lives in. The usual structure of a track like this shows up, with fragments of verses and ultra repetitive choruses.

One of Fred’s recent efforts we covered included the increasingly popular “leavemealone” with Baby Keem. This may be another favorite of many as the beat is quite good and perfect for ragers at the club. According to Stereogum, this song was previewed days after Fred again won a GRAMMY. He popped out to a New York show hosted by Overmono, the other producer for this song to preview it. Now, streaming fans can enjoy this song at the leisure.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Stayinit,” by Fred again.., Lil Yachty, and Overmono? Is Yachty the best genre-bending rapping rapper out right now, why or why not? GORDO Lays Down A House Beat For Young Dolph On “Kill For This S***”

Young Dolph’s legacy in hip-hop was assuredly never fade. The Memphis rapper has heavily influenced the new sound of the city. It has helped make it one of the hottest spots for hip-hop stars, making it an established hub for the genre. It will be three years on November 17 since his untimely passing and the fans miss him more and more every day. Today, we have another posthumous track as Young Dolph and GORDO are teaming up for “Kill For This S***.”

GORDO may not sound familiar to many, but maybe referring to him as Carnage or DJ Carnage will help. The multi-genre producer has worked with some of the topflight rappers in the game from Migos, Young Thug, and more. This now GORDO’s first collaboration with Dolph and it is not your typical Memphis trap track. The Guatemalan-American DJ works in the EDM and house lanes too and that is the direction for “Kill For This S***.”

Listen To “Kill For This S***” By GORDO & Young Dolph

Unfortunately, while it is unique to hear Dolph over a house instrumental, the song does not go anywhere. It repeats the chorus twice, which is repetitive itself. It has the typical fast drums and synths and a beat drop or two. While we can respect the effort, it just does not land all that much.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Kill For This S***,” By GORDO and Young Dolph? Do you like hearing him over a house beat, why or why not? Is GORDO one of the more talented producers we have going in hip-hop? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Real Bad Man & Lukah Tease Their Upcoming Album With “The Initiates Piece” Featuring Billy Woods

Real Bad Man, a hip-hop producer by the name of Adam Weissman, is also a founder of the streetwear brand of the same name. He also had a huge hand in Stüssy, Union and Undefeated. The Los Angeles, California native has been making beats since the turn of the 2020 decade and has been working with some of the best underground rappers in the business. Today, he, Lukah, and billy woods are teaming up for “The Initiates Piece.”

Weissman really impressed us with his Bad News collaboration tape with Blu. So, we are naturally amped for this new project coming on March 29. We have no word on features or tracklist yet, but expect that to come later next month. This is also exciting because this is our first time covering Lukah and he really is someone we cannot wait to bring more of.

Both billy and Lukah have tremendous chemistry, trading great verses. Bad Man’s production is also a standout with the lowkey guitar riffing amongst the heavy drums. The rhymes are complex, and the flows are on point. This is something we come to expect from Real Bad Man’s projects, so we are amped to hear what is to come.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “The Initiates Piece,” by Real Bad Man, Lukah, and billy woods? Does this have you excited for Temple Needs Water, why or why not? French Montana Makes Slight Tweaks To 41-Assisted “Too Fun” By Adding Dthang To The Mix

French Montana is back already to provide more music. It is to continue to promote his latest mixtape Mac & Cheese 5. This is one of the few series that the Moroccan rapper possesses in his catalog. Like most Montana projects, this is one is also filled to the brim with features. Some of the headliners include JID, Kanye West, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Westside Gunn and more. Jenn Carter and Kyle Richh are also in the mix. French Montana, along with the 41 members, are teaming up for a remix of “Too Fun.”

“Too Fun” is the drill inspired cut on the record with a more slow-motion take on it. Jenn Carter and Kyle Richh, two thirds of the 41 drill trio, are continuing their hot streak of collabs. Joining all three of these rappers is Dthang. He is another up -and-coming drill talent who also hails from New York.

French Montana’s “Too Fun Remix” is not much different, as it is 30 seconds longer. What is a little more interesting is that this track is now a part of the deluxe version with a separate cover. This one has the food the mixtape is named after actually worked into the artwork. Montana has also released acapella, instrumental, slowed down, and sped up versions of the record.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Too Fun,” by French Montana, 41, Jenn Carter, Kyle Richh, and Dthang? Is this the best song from Mac & Cheese 5, why or why not? Armand Hammer Team Up With Benjamin Booker On Lengthy New Track “Doves”

Last year, prolific rappers billy woods and E L U C I D teamed up once again as Armand Hammer for a new album called We Buy Diabetic Test Strips. The project was a huge favorite among experimental rap fans and one of the most acclaimed hip-hop records of the year. Now, the pair have returned with a deluxe expansion of the album. The new version dropped on streaming earlier this week and while it only has one additional song, it’s quite a substantial addition.

The track is called Doves and it features singer Benjamin Booker. Booker also co-produced the song alongside regular Armand Hammer collaborator Kenny Segal. Segal actually worked with billy woods on an entire collaborative album last year called Maps in addition to his work on Test Strips. While the pair are no strangers to experimentation this is one of their most out there songs yet. The track spans nearly 9 minutes and a large part of its first half is taken up by an ambient introduction. The track was also dropped alongside an ominous black and white music video. something the pair don’t do often. Check out the full experimental new cut from billy and E L U C I D below.

Earlier this year, Armand Hammer announced a new vinyl-only album. The project was exclusively being released in physical format. It was even further limited by the fact that fans could only purchase it at the duo’s live shows. The increased rarity of the project makes it a sought after collectors item among fans.

What do you think of the new Armand Hammer and Benjamin Booker song “Doves?” Do you think it should have been included on the original tracklist of We Buy Diabetic Test Strips? Let us know in the comment section below.

Steelo Brim & VIC MENSA Pair Up Again For “N**** Dreams”

The Chicago streets are on fire! No, thankfully not a real one. But it is because VIC MENSA and Steelo Brim are back together for a new single. These two underrated lyricists are here with “N**** Dreams” a motivational and hype track about going after your goals and becoming proud of who you are. For Steelo this is his first piece of solo material since last July’s “Margiela.”

Hopefully, this is also the start of a new album rollout for him. It has been about two years since the release of Steelo’s debut Eldorado Excursions. That project featured Buddy, Arin Ray, VIC, Dej Loaf, Leon Thomas, PRICE, Chuck English, and more. As we said, these two are no strangers to each other and they both speak very highly of each other.

In the press release, VIC MENSA could not help but give Steelo Brim his flowers. “Beyond being a friend, Steelo has an amazing ear for production, a unique perspective and has been a covert architect of culture for over a decade now. One of the first young art collectors I knew, [Steelo] brings that taste level to his creativity and that’s something I always connect with.” This was a release that the lead artist “felt appropriate for Black History Month.” Brim says, “The title is also ‘sarcastic’ in the sense of we can wish and dream of more, and yet, we are still just ‘N****s,’ lol.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “N**** Dreams,” by Steelo Brim and VIC MENSA? Is this their best song together, why or why not?
