JasonMartin Drops Bouncy New Single “Cookie”

JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem) has been one of the more consistent acts out of California for much of the last decade. The Compton rapper released CHUPACABRA, his second joint album with the legendary DJ Quik, this past June. He followed that up with a smattering of new singles, also dropping a five-track EP in November. And now, he’s back with his latest single, “Cookie,” which at the time of writing, is a YouTube-exclusive single. “Cookie” is a quick track, clocking in at just two minutes. It makes the most of its runtime, with a bouncy beat and bassline that sounds ready for a car speaker.

JasonMartin raps with an effortless flow on the new track. He raps about Compton and women, and he does so in a way that is sure to get stuck in a listener’s head. JasonMartin has long been linked to those in the Top Dawg Entertainment camp. His latest album has an Ab-Soul feature on the final track, and he rapped with ScHoolboy Q in 2023. Since Kendrick Lamar released GNX, fans have been hoping for remixes of songs from the album, and JasonMartin’s name has been floated around. Despite a longtime friendship, the two have never done a song together. If any remixes are on the way, the former Problem will be someone that fans are checking for. Give “Cookie” a listen below.

Big Hit & Hit-Boy Are “Bigger Than Life” On Soulful New Single

In May 2023, Big Hit, father of producer Hit-Boy, was released from prison after a nine-year sentence. Once he came home, he immediately got back in the studio. His first album, The Truth Is In My Eyes, was a collaborative effort with his son. In January 2024, he released Paisley Dreams, a joint album with legendary Compton rapper The Game. Following that, he got to do a joint album with both Hit-Boy and the iconic Alchemist. Unfortunately, Big Hit went back to jail in October. It is unclear what for. In the meantime, his son is releasing new music on his behalf.

“Bigger Than Life” is one of the 700 songs Hit-Boy’s father recorded in the last year and a half. The beat is soulful, in line with some of the production that Hit-Boy gave Nas during their run. He brings a West Coast slant to it all, with a smooth flow that sounds like something from a previous era of California hip-hop. Hit-Boy, who has been rapping more often recently, also sounds at home over the beat. There was a time where he never stepped from behind the boards. Those days seem to be long gone. The accompanying video is also shot like an old-school music video, rapping next to a lowrider and the video itself being shot on film. Hit-Boy raps his verse in a barber shop, shot in black and white. The track ends with old home videos of Hit-Boy, while his father delivers a message. Check out “Bigger Than Life” below.

Quotable Lyrics:

I’m a monarch or emperor, slash gangster I’m pimpin’
F**k all that simpin’, imma push it or ship it
When it touch down, I break it down and I track it with census
I ain’t doing a Michael Jackson, moonwalkin’ or slippin’
I’m runnin’ down the currency, in an emergency
It’s usually a burglary or probably a murder scene
Listen lil’ homie, if you know me, you owe me
In the hole, f***in’ with brodies, know most of my foes is cronies

ASAP Rocky And Hanumankind Barrel Through The “Big Dawgs (Remix)”

Hanumankind was one of the surprise success stories of 2024. His single “Big Dawgs” burst onto the scene in July, and quickly became one of the year’s biggest bangers. It peaked at number five on the hip hop charts, and number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hanumankind has added another honor to his “Big Dawgs” rein by getting ASAP Rocky for the remix. The song features the same blistering verses from the likes of Hanumankind and Kalmi, but Rocky comes through and skates in predictably slick fashion.

ASAP Rocky kicks things off on the “Big Dawgs (Remix).” The superstar rapper dishes out bars about his success and his superiority over his musical peers. “Member I was young and broke,” Rocky raps. “Holes in all our clothes like some honeycombs. More foes than mama drove… Crackheads by the corner store. Bakin’ soda by the stove.” Hanumankind comes in on the second verse, and the unexpected pleasure of the song is getting hear him and ASAP Rocky trade bars back and forth. The rappers display a surprising amount of chemistry on the song. It’s safe to say this remix will bring even more attention to this stellar single.

Farruko Scorches Anuel AA In New Diss Track “San Miguel”

It looks like yet another feud is heating up for Puerto Rican trap and reggaetón star Anuel AA, as Bayamón, Puerto Rico’s own Farruko dropped a diss track against him titled “San Miguel.” For those unaware, it seems like their feud really popped off when the latter named Eladio Carrión as his favorite boricua trap artist, which seemed to rub Anuel the wrong way. AA is no stranger to battles and conflicts within the reggaetón and wider Latin music scene, whether that’s with Bad Bunny, his ex girlfriend KAROL G, or many other artists within Puerto Rico and Latin America as a whole.

Basically, Farruko challenges Anuel AA to prove his supposedly fake street status and respond with artistic merit, not with social media antics. Will that actually happen? Probably not, but depending on how far “San Miguel” goes, we might see a response track. It’s certainly a contrast to Anuel’s other beefs, such as his volatile clash with 6ix9ine, that were more Twitter fingers than (lyrical) trigger fingers. Still, this new diss track is more of a warning shot than anything, and if it progresses, we could definitely enter into much uglier territory. Hopefully it doesn’t escalate too far.

Farruko’s Anuel AA Diss Track, “San Miguel”

Regardless, Anuel AA has other strong controversies to contend with that don’t relate to his beefs with Farruko or other Puerto Rican reggaetón stars. For example, his public support of Donald Trump resulted in a lot of backlash from the boricua community and from Latin America as a whole. Of course, Anuel probably doesn’t care very much since Trump won the election and he pretty much thrives off of scandals and negative engagement just as much as he enjoys the praise and support of his rabid fanbase.

Elsewhere, some fans are calling Farruko out for his turn to Christianity, which this Anuel AA diss track seems to contradict. But given just how many beefs the latter has, others don’t mind seeing him go toe to toe with yet another opponent. We’ll see what comes of “San Miguel” and how else this feud could evolve, especially considering everything that’s already on Anuel’s plate beef-wise.

Kenny Muney Recruits Key Glock For Laid-Back Track “Paper Route”

It’s already been a good year for Kenny Muney fans. The Memphis rapper unleashed his album The Blue Seasons back in March, followed by various singles. Now, he’s preparing to deliver a new edition of the project, The Blue Seasons Super Deluxe. It’s scheduled to drop tomorrow (December 6) and will feature an impressive 12 new tracks.

To get listeners ready for what’s to come, however, Kenny has dropped off a new music video for his song “Paper Route” featuring fellow Tennessee native Key Glock. The laid-back track features boastful bars about being “married to the money.” The simplistic music video shows the two artists flaunting their whips, in the studio, and more. This isn’t the first video supporters have seen from Kenny Muney in recent weeks, as he also dropped videos to accompany “Jacuzzi On The Roof” and “I Ain’t Roddy” late last month. Both of those songs are also expected to appear on The Blue Seasons Super Deluxe.

The release of Kenny Muney’s new music video comes after he called out Ralo and DJ Akademiks in October over Young Dolph. He accused them of using the trial of his late friend and collaborator’s alleged killers as clickbait. “Quit speaking on situations wit them folks on the other side cause it ain’t a game!!” he wrote at the time. “If anybody know @youngdolph he don’t give a damn what nobody else f*ckin wit who let my n***a rest!!” Ralo later confirmed that they’d worked things out, admitting that Kenny Muney was right.

Ghais Guevara Is Down “4L” On Outstanding New Single

If his recent singles – including “Flowers,” “Leprosy,” and “Camera Shy” – are anything to go by, then Ghais Guevara will drop one of 2025’s best albums very soon. Moreover, his next project Goyard Ibn Said continues this persona and releases on January 24 of next year. The Philly-based rapper and producer just solidified his upcoming LP’s greatness with another track drop: “4L.” It’s a bouncy, progressive, exciting, and pretty conflicted banger with some amazing sample flips and instrumental additions.

Also, it certainly helps that Ghais Guevara’s witty charisma and compelling turns of phrase make the rapping display on “4L” an absolute treat. The song is kind of conflicted, as mentions of men cowering in darkness and of sin-loving honor roll girlies seem to point to primal urges clashing with present realities. It’s all a tad vague, but these lyrical mentions are certainly evocative and work well with the rambunctious instrumental. Also, this is nothing new for Goyard. His condemnations of political and economic systems pair with his more grounded and quotidian perspective as a hip-hop head, resulting in timelessly resistant anthems.

What’s most impressive about “4L” and the other Goyard Ibn Said singles, though, is just how much Ghais Guevara seems to have improved his songwriting chops and the complementary elements of his music. There was definitely more controlled chaos in his earlier work like BlackBolshevik and There Will Be No Super-Slave, and while we aren’t ruling the possibility of that out for his next album, this refinement and focus doesn’t compromise on talent, skill, message, or ethos.

Ghais Guevara’s “4L”

Quotable Lyrics
All that glory don’t mean nothing, though we took it on the chin,
‘Til the gravity from tension starts to cave us both in,
We was tripping and relapsing, we fell victim to the passion,
Stay provoking me with rhapsodies, you about to make it happen

Lefty Gunplay & Hitta J3 Capitalize On Their Nods From Kendrick Lamar With “Stoopid”

It’s a West Coast takeover on “Stoopid,” one of Lefty Gunplay’s newest tracks. It’s off his most recent project, Most Valuable Gangbanger, which is his fourth tape of 2024. He’s quickly become a prolific artist after getting his start professionally last year. By the way, all of those tapes we mentioned are his first four of his career. That hard work has been paying off for the California rapper, as he landed a big-time feature that will carry a lot of momentum for him going forward. Of course, we are talking about his placement on Kendrick Lamar’s now viral hit off of GNX, “tv off.” But don’t get it twisted, he’s got talent and it’s all over this track below.

As we said, it’s an all-Cali link-up, with Hitta J3, 19-year-old YS, and Bozo in the mix. Speaking of J3, he also got the chance to shine on Lamar’s project. You can find him on the title track deeper into the record. Overall, this track is a major banger, with an excellent gangsta rap-like beat. That comes courtesy of Damn James! (Kanye West, Meek Mill, Ella Mai) and Ty Dolla $ign. It’s mean, it’s lean, and extremely hard-hitting right from the jump. J3 really kicks the track off right with some intimidating bars and nice flow over the slower production. Gunplay follows up right after, then YS, with Bozo maybe having the best verse of them all. But no one misses and it’s a track we can Gunplay hanging his hat on.

Cardi B Trash Talks Fans After They Criticize Old Song Snippet

Cardi B and Lauryn Hill both hit pay dirt with their debut albums. Different as their styles may be, both earned critical acclaim and Grammy wins for their fusions of pop and rap. Cardi even sampled Hill on the smash single “Be Careful.” Lauryn Hill, of course, never blessed fans with an official second album. Cardi B, oddly enough, is following the same trajectory. It’s been six years since Invasion of Privacy made Cardi a household name, and fans are still waiting on new music. It doesn’t seem to be going well.

A song snippet from 2019 made the rounds online Tuesday. The general response to the song was, uh, not positive. Fans piled on Cardi’s flow and the beat, claiming it was beneath the standard that she set on her 2018 debut. Cardi B did not respond positively to the criticism. She called detractors “dumb, stupid and overly opinionated” during an Instagram Live session. The rapper was clear about the snippet being from 2019. “Sometimes I listened to scrapped songs, or old songs [because] there might be two or three lines and I can use it on a new song,” she explained.

Cardi B Called Her Haters “Dumb” And “Slow”

Cardi B’s frustration spilled over onto Twitter. She claimed that the “overly opinionated” fans were the reason why she hasn’t released a second album yet. “This y y’all don’t get sh*t,” she wrote. This is a far cry from the optimistic Cardi B who took to Instagram Live in November. She claimed that she will bless fans with new music in 2015, and make moves on the business end of things as well. “My album will be out, my secret businesses will be out,” she asserted. “I can’t tell y’all what I’m working on,” holding her index finger to her mouth, [and] hopefully next year I get me a lil’ boyfriend.”

Many industry analysts have chastised Cardi B for repeatedly delaying her album. Joe Budden is one of the most notable examples. The podcast host took to social media shortly after Cardi’s aforementioned Instagram Live. “Wonder if I’ll get an apology for saying [blank] wasn’t dropping an album this year lol,” he tweeted. He didn’t name names, but many fans assumed he was talking about the “Bodak Yellow” star based on the timing.

Kodak Black Has His “Trill Bill” Fan-Favorite With “News Matt”

Kodak Black’s new mixtape Trill Bill hit streaming platforms over the weekend, and frankly, it’s been a nice surprise. For us, the hitmaker can be hit or miss sometimes, with not all of his records being the most consistent. However, in keeping this project to just 11 tracks, there was very little margin for error. After listening to it a few times over the last couple of days, we can say that Kodak took his time with this one.

Tracks like the opener, “Cherish The Moment,” the risk that is “Dirty Revolver,” and “Burn It Up,” are ones that we have taken a liking to. Now, we are adding the second cut “News Matt” to that growing list. It hears Kodak addressing his haters and people that have turned their backs on him. It’s empowering, real, and relatable, which is why it’s become the fan favorite so far. At the time of writing, the music video for “News Matt” has over 506,000 views on YouTube. That equates to it being number 18 on trending for music on the platform. See what all the hype is about with the link below.

It made me think, “What else you gotta say that you ain’t sayin’?”
Like anything I ask you, acting deaf like you want me to beg

Kodak Black Challenges Himself On “Trill Bill Standout “Dirty Revolver”

A special shout out goes to AnotherWav, one of the producers on Kodak Black’s new mixtape, Trill Bill. The beat he gives the Pompano Beach, Florida rapper is quite unique. That’s thanks to the piano melodies, sometimes static qualities, and woozy sound effects. But to be honest, Kodak Black makes it seem like light work, as he manages to find a pocket just seconds into the two-minute track. On top of his flows, there are some straight up comedic and sticky sets of lines. You can tell he was having putting this one together and just letting the instrumental take him wherever he felt was right.

The womb, I’m a motherf***in’ goon / Hey, pop that boy balloon, pew and zoom / Fredo in the dune, you beef with me, your doom / Flippa finna be zoom, he comin’ home in June / Thuggin’ every June, ain’t no lovey-dovey do.” These are just a few of the memorable portions, with one another being below, too. However, this is just one of many surprising and fun moments on Kodak’s new record. The first leg of the 11-song tape is especially strong with tracks like the opener, “Cherish The Moment,” the subsequent “News Matt,” among others. If you haven’t been a fan of his lately, or just in general, we think you should still give Trill Bill a try.
