Well, whether it is or isn’t, there’s a recent boxing victor who chose to capitalize on the moment, celebrate his win, and maybe build a back-up career path in the process. Moreover, fans found it funny that, before K.Dot clapped back at Drizzy, Ryan Garcia dropped a diss track on social media against Devin Haney, whom he recently beat in a boxing match that didn’t count for a title due to Garcia not making weight beforehand. It’s exactly what you expect: a generic trap beat, boasting about the dub, making jokes about Haney’s loss, and admittedly less cringe than what it sounds like.

Furthermore, Ryan Garcia is really feeling himself following this win, and is chirping and chiming into a lot of stuff to prove not just his dominance and relevance, but his will to take things to the next level. To explain this, we have to bring up another boxing beef: Floyd Mayweather versus Gervonta Davis. For those unaware, the former friends have turned sour over the years and are currently throwing shots at each other on social media. Garcia joined the battle by making some wild claims about Davis and Mayweather’s daughter Yaya, which surely can’t be fun for most to hear.

However, for those of you thinking that this only relates to boxing, this actually isn’t Ryan Garcia’s first crossover with hip-hop -– far from it, in fact. For example, he dissed 21 Savage for walking Devin Haney out, which is kind of ironic considering that Garcia wanted Kanye West to walk him out for this fight. Imagine if Haney then dissed Ye for walking the loser out… That would’ve been a whole new beef in and of itself.

Meanwhile, it’s clear that a lot of Garcia’s antics are just self-admitted trolling, but tactics that he knows how to use relatively well. After all, few competitive tactics are as easy to use, but difficult to master as getting in your opponent’s head. ASAP Twelvyy Is Focused On New Single “Checkpoint Charlie”

Earlier this month, ASAP Twelvyy unleashed his first solo single of the year, “Checkpoint Charlie.” The NYC-born performer’s focused flow shines through on the laid-back track, which samples Metro Boomin and Coi Leray’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack cut, “Self Love.” Twelvyy’s latest release sees him rhyme about making music, touring, and chasing his dreams.

ASAP Twelvyy’s new song follows the December 2023 release of Kid$ Gotta Eat (Deluxe), which boasts features from Rome Streetz, ASAP Nast, ASAP Ant, and more. The deluxe edition of the album provided fans with an additional five new tracks that weren’t on the original, which he unveiled in July of last year.

The show is scheduled for May 23, 2024, and tickets are available for purchase now. In recent weeks he’s also performed in Dallas and Chicago. Later this year, he’s even set to perform at Sumol Summer Fest in Portugal.

So far, fans are loving ASAP Twelvyy’s latest single, and can’t wait to hear more. Fortunately for them, they shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. A recent Instagram post suggests that he’s considering dropping more new music shortly, though official details of that have not yet been confirmed at the time of writing. Adekunle Gold Lets The Lust Out On New Single “Rodo”: Stream

Adekunle Gold is not slowing down anytime soon, and he’s got another track to heat the summer up even more with his new single, “Rodo.” Moreover, it’s yet another Afrobeat-style cut with watery chords, nimble percussion, a lot of vocal and flow dexterity, and some lustful and romantic themes that might spur you to invite someone to the dance floor. His run continues following other great tracks this year like “The Life I Chose” and the Kodak Black and Doja Cat collab for The Book Of Clarence‘s soundtrack, “JEEZU.” Lyrically, the Nigerian artist is as blunt and charismatic as ever, and he also engages with a few different vocal deliveries, flows, melodies, and other elements to make his performance all the more dynamic.

Furthermore, a big part of this dynamism is also due to very, very subtle additions throughout to the main core of the song, such as a quiet horn lick here and there or some extra keys to spice up a particular line on the verse or bridge. Adekunle Gold coasts through all this quite well, although “Rodo” definitely benefits from an approach of stasis and mood-setting rather than a super fleshed-out or evolutionary song structure. Sure, there are beat drop-outs and parts in which the hand percussion has a bit more emphasis, but for the most part, you’re just happy to stay in that vibe. Also, it makes sense given the simple but very effective principles of previous cuts, such as the Bas collab “Khartoum.”

In the case of this particular track, it comments on the slow but steady build-up that the DMV native has experienced over the past few years, which finally seem to have gotten to a boiling point. We’ve previously covered the dual single release of “SOULCRUSHER” and “WHAT DO U LIKE,” plus his appearance on Brent Faiyaz’s recent album, Larger Than Life.

Furthermore, Tommy Richman seems poised to keep expanding on this unique style, and will surely find new ways to tinker with it, capitalize on its best elements, and continue to expand outside of it. We don’t want to put him in a box, but this is definitely a wave that he could ride with ease given the catchy, loose, and above all fun feeling that “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” will give you. Thanks to some occasional and subtle cowbell hits, the sharp snares and hi-hats, and the funky bass patterns, this song is able to make something sound pretty hard and quite sophisticated at the same time. It’s an odd mix that ultimately works to its cheeky benefit, especially with added wailing synths, a very simple lead melody, high-pitched vocals, and background vocal samples.

Shenseea Is Determined To Have A Long-Lasting Love On “Neva Neva”

Shenseea is known for writing catchy and rhythmic dancehall/R&B cuts over the past several years. However, even with all of her singles that she has dropped, the albums are a rarity. In fact, the Kingston, Jamaica native has only put out one record and that happened back in 2022. That project was called ALPHA and had quite the feature list of 21 Savage, Tyga (2x), Megan Thee Stallion, Offset, Sean Paul, and Beenie Man. Hopefully, Shenseea is close to a sophomore release after dropping a new song “Neva Neva.”

This is now her fourth offering of the year, with the first being “Hit & Run” with Masicka and Di Genius back in January. She did have a big moment in February when she helped provide a song for her birthplace and one of its icons, Bob Marley. Shenseea performed “No Woman No Cry” for the late legend’s biographical film Bob Marley: One Love. Following that, she would go on to write a pretty raunchy cut “Die For You” in late March.

Now, she is back with “Neva Neva,” a track about being fed up with men’s games and wants true love. She appears to have found someone she connects with and is not going to let anyone get in the way of it. “And now you know seh mi a think ’bout you night and a day / Love you, love you, love you, don’t know what else to say / Try fi get the ting, turn inna eternity / That’s what me hope and pray, yeah.” Overall though, the song may be the weakest of the bunch, as the beat feels generic and the chorus repeats itself too much. The experienced duo first began hinting at the tape’s development back in April of last year with “Back In Office.” Then, just about two months later, they returned with “hue_man nature.” Fans are still eagerly awaiting a release date, but it seems we are inching closer and closer with “head.rap” out now.

The Chainsmokers Team Up With Fridayy For EDM/R&B Crossover “Friday”

The Chainsmokers are one of the most recognized musical artists in the world. Their pop appeal has garnered them tons of radio play and smash singles. Because of that they have been able to work with some of the industries brightest stars like Halsey, Coldplay, Florida Georgia Line, Jhene Aiko, and so many others. Now, they are gearing up for a new album once more. To tease it, The Chainsmokers are working with R&B/soul singer Fridayy for the first time on a new single called “Friday.”

The coincidentally titled track is rumored to be the second promotional song for their sixth project, and first since 2022’s Summertime Friends. However, this will not be an album, rather an EP, and is expected to see a May 10 release, according to Genius. The previous song that is looking to make its way onto the tracklist is “Addicted” featuring Zerb and Ink. On “Friday,” The Chainsmokers produce a mixture of R&B and EDM, something that is not totally new to them.

KayCyy is one of the most exciting names in hip-hop and R&B right now in our opinion. He has so much potential to be one of the best hybrid stars once he eventually drops his rumored projects. According to Genius, the Kenya native has two offerings stashed away at the moment. There are a lot of rumors that he will have both out by this year, after previously teasing 2023 drop dates. It seems we inching closer and closer to the promised land after KayCyy recently put out “Hidden Faces.”

This single is currently only available on YouTube and follows up other tracks such as “My Jeans,” “MOTOWN” with BabyTron. For “Hidden Faces,” KayCyy taps Toro y Moi and Weiland for a somber ballad about falling out of love and feeling emotionally and physically alone. Each singer’s vocals are backed by piano keys and minimal angelic production overall. You can tell by the way KayCyy, Toro, and Weiland are delivering their lyrics that they are in true pain.

As we mentioned earlier, the “THANK GOD” contributor has two projects in the works, and Never Been So Sure looks to be his debut album. G-Eazy has been ramping up the production in 2024 with a couple of loosies on YouTube, as well as singles on streaming. The California artist has not always been viewed in a positive light for his “corny” raps. Listeners were especially calling him out just about two and a half weeks ago for his recent offering “Femme Fatale.” The nearly NSFW track featuring Coi Leray and Kaliii was highly criticized for feeling outdated and the performances being underwhelming. But G-Eazy might be winning some of those haters back with a newly released single “The Road Back.”

If the title suggests anything it is that Eazy is looking to get back into his bag and deliver some heat. That is exactly what “The Road Back” is, as Young Gerald is essentially reintroducing himself to the audience. He gets pretty lyrical on this record, and it goes over well, as he raps with a lot of charisma and hunger. However, this track is not easy to track down unfortunately.
