Lil Wayne Announces New Project Dropping Before “Tha Carter VI”

Lil Wayne has a new project arriving ahead of the release of Tha Carter VI that is aptly titled, Tha Fix Before Tha VI. Wayne shared a pre-save link to the project in both his Twitter and Instagram bios on Wednesday. Cover art for the effort resembles that of 2011’s Sorry 4 The Wait mixtape, with a red hue engulfing the image.

While he’s added the pre-save link to his bios and even updated his cover photo on Twitter to feature the artwork, Wayne has yet to comment officially on the release. It’s unclear exactly when he plans to drop the effort. On the pre-save website, he simply notes that the project is “coming soon.”

Tha Fix Before Tha VI will be Wayne’s first solo project since his 2020 mixtape No Ceilings 3. He dropped the last installment in Tha Carter series back in 2018. He first teased the start of work on the upcoming album during a Young Money reunion at Drake’s October World Weekend festival in Toronto in August 2022.

In addition to both Tha Carter VI and Tha Fix Before Tha VI, Wayne reportedly has another album on the way by the end of 2023. During a recent interview with BET, 2 Chainz confirmed that he and Wayne are finishing up a collaborative project. “I’m about to drop a project with Lil Wayne and have tryouts for my G League team, another anniversary for a restaurant I’ve been owning for eight years, so I’m not surprised,” 2 Chainz said of his upcoming plans. Of the collaboration, he added: “I consider Wayne my brother and love working with him. The album is expected to drop before the year ends, and Amazon Music will support the project.” Pre-save Lil Wayne’s upcoming Tha Fix Before Tha VI here.

Lil Gotit Puts Out Wavy New Single “Dr. Martin”

Alamo Records signee Lil Gotit is keeping up the pace with his steady drops of singles throughout 2023. The streak began right at the start of the new year with a song to remind everyone he is still a rising star in the rap game with “Ain’t No Falling Off.” Then, the Georgia artist put out another offering on March 31, called “Drippin in Spider.” Just a few weeks later on April 20, “Lustin would be released, making it his third solo single in a row. Gotit was relentless, as only eight days would pass before the next track, “Feelin Myself.”

It is safe to say he was feeling himself because it seemed like nothing was going to slow down his tremendous production. Two more songs, “Hell Yeah” and “250” would be joint cuts. The first of the two featured Lil PJ and Bslime. The latter saw Gotit recruit Canadian producer Money Music.

After that, three more would come out in the span of four months. However, none of these tracks, including this newest one, “Dr. Martin,” are a part of an album release yet. His last full-length was The Cheater, which came out in 2022. His Instagram page is also pretty empty, with him promoting “Dr. Martin” about a week ago. He seems to be content with this formula as it has been working for him with fans enjoying this newest single.

Little Brother Releases Two-Track EP “Wish Me Well / Glory Glory”

Durham, North Carolina rap duo, Little Brother, has just made a triumphant return. In fact, it has been four years since the release of any new material. The last time we got music from Phonte and Big Pooh was back on August 20, 2019. It came in the form of an album called, May the Lord Watch. It was a 15-track 37-minute-long project with no features. After that, we have not heard anything from them.

However, the legendary East Coast group is having a little celebration coming up next month. The special occasion is for their debut album which has now been out for two decades. They felt it was only right to throw a block party for one day on October 7. Little Brother announced this back on August 8 on their Instagram. The name if the event is “Made In Durham: A Little Brother Block Party.” Some special guests will also be a part of this full-circle moment, including Big K.R.I.T.

To build more hype for this anniversary party, they decided to release some new songs as well. It is a two-pack EP that features songs “Wish Me Well” and “Glory Glory.” The fans have been digging the tracks so far and some are hoping this is a sign for a new album. One person underneath their IG post for the songs, says, “Please let this be the warning shot for another LB album.” Either way, Little Brother should bring out quite the crowd, especially with these two songs receiving so much praise.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new two-pack, “Wish Me Well / Glory Glory,” from Little Brother? Is this their best material since their last album, May the Lord Watch? Megan Thee Stallion’s New Music Will Feature “A Lot Of S**t-Talking & Realness”

Megan Thee Stallion is obviously the first name that comes to mind when we think of Hot Girl Summer, but still, the Houston native was understandably quiet during the warmest season of the year in 2023. It was just a few weeks ago that her shooter, Tory Lanez, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for his crimes, and while he remains behind bars for the foreseeable future, that hasn’t stopped the R&B star’s fanbase from continuing to berate the “Cocky AF” hitmaker.

On Tuesday (September 19) a new interview between Billboard and the black-haired beauty dropped, revealing what her future plans are in terms of music. Of course, she recently made her presence felt with a feature on Cardi B’s “Bongos,” though that joint effort isn’t being quite as well received as their first link-up, “WAP” was. “I feel like I’m finally closing all the old chapters and now I’m starting with a blank slate,” Thee Stallion shared with the outlet. “Very fresh, very new. I think the Hotties are gonna be so excited.”

Megan Thee Stallion is Stepping into Her Best Era Yet

“I’m trying different things. I got a lot of things that I produced with Ju and with some new producers,” Thee Stallion continues to tease, sharing that she spent some time behind the piano while out of the spotlight. “Expect the unexpected. Expect a lot of rawness, a lot of realness, a lot of s**t talking. Just know I’m coming and I hope everybody ready,” she warned her competitors.

It’s evident even just from her online energy that Megan Thee Stallion is getting back into the groove of life as a hip-hop superstar. However, just because she’s feeling herself in her new twerking and workout videos doesn’t mean everyone else is. In fact, controversial streamer Adin Ross made it abundantly clear that he’s still team Tory Lanez earlier this week. Read what he had to say at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Brent Faiyaz Cannot Seem To Leave A Certain Lover On “WY@”

Brent Faiyaz is currently on his F*CK The World It’s A Wasteland tour that began back on July 16 in Washington D.C. The tour is celebrating his two latest album releases F*** The World and WASTELAND, which came out in 2020 and 2022. The latter is the most ambitious project Faiyaz has put forth so far and many continue to enjoy it a year later. Because of that success and his world tour the R&B singer has maybe felt little need to unleash new material.

However, Faiyaz has still been dropping a single here and there throughout 2023. “ALL MINE,” one of the more popular tracks on WASTELAND, got a Jersey club remix near the turn of the new year. Following that, he and EDM producer Marshmello teamed up for “Fell In Love.” Then, maybe his best single of the year, “Moment Of Your Life” featuring Coco Jones, was put out back in late August. The two were a great duo, and hopefully, more songs from them come down the line. Now, this brings us to “WY@,” a new track about Faiyaz’s entanglement that is not good for him.

But, he cannot seem to release himself from the clutches of this vixen. The song also includes some vocals from a Latina singer who sings some very sexually charged passages. “I’m waiting for you with my legs open and my heart open, / I can still taste you in my mouth, / No one can make me shake like you.” Brent loves going back to this woman for what she provides but deep down he knows it is changing him for the worst. It is another solid offering from him, and if you want to check it out, click the video link above.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new single, “WY@,” from Brent Faiyaz? Is this his best song put out this year? Do you need a new album from him, or could you wait? SZA & Jean Dawson To Drop New Track Together: Details

SZA is an artist who is on an incredible run right now, and it all dates back to last year. Firstly, she dropped S.O.S. near the end of the year, and it immediately broke records and hit number one on the charts. Secondly, the artist took advantage of the project’s success and immediately went on a world tour. From there, she has done features with some massive artists, including the likes of Travis Scott. Lastly, she came through with an acoustic version of “Snooze,” with Justin Bieber, and a feature on Drake’s “Slime You Out.”

With all of these factors in mind, some would argue that she has had the best calendar year in music. Overall, it would be hard to argue with that assessment. However, it seems like the singer is not done just yet. According to Our Generation Music, SZA will be teaming up with Jean Dawson for a new track that is set to come out on Friday, September 22nd. The song is called “No Szns” and the cover art for the track looks sensational.

The latest update comes after a misunderstanding stemming from an interview Pharrell and Tyler did with GQ, which resulted in speculation that Tyler was planning to drop soon. During the conversation, which was published in August, Tyler told Pharrell, “I gotta cr*zy one comin’ very soon. Very soon.” After the comment gained traction online, Tyler clarified on Twitter that the conversation actually went down back in February and he was referencing The Estate Sale. “From feb, estate sale out now,” he wrote.

While Tyler didn’t intend to tease more new music in the interview, Pharrell confirmed that new N.E.R.D. projects are in the works. “Listen, you’ll have something to ride to,” he told Tyler. “I mean, look, like I told you, they’re big choruses, but you know, out of nowhere, I’ll just come out of nowhere with the three-bar, crazy-nuts chords that go three-bar to four-bar to eight-bar. It’s good bro, it’s good. This is like that feeling that I felt when we made In Search Of…[2001]. I won’t sit here and tell you that they were hits. I knew it was different, and I knew there won’t be nothing out there like this. But I’m talking about the feeling. I wanted to do everything. I wanted feelings.”

Logic Shares Free Mixtape “Inglorious Basterd”

Logic has now delivered on his promise from last month, releasing his free mixtape, Inglorious Basterd. The man has been a tear in 2023, putting out his own material, as well as falling into a producer role. Back on February 24, Logic unleashed College Park, a 17-song project with a stacked lyrical features list. From wordsmiths such as Bun B, Joey Bada$$, and RZA, the project was a success with fans and some critics.

We also got word back in July that he would be the one exclusively producing Asher Roth’s project. Now, Logic is now here to share his Bandcamp exclusive drop, Inglorious Basterd. On August 16, the Maryland rapper hopped on Instagram to announce that he would have new music out soon. In the caption, he said, “Here is the album artwork for my free mixtape Inglorious Basterd coming soon!! I just dropped the intro song called “Still Pushin” over Lupe Fiasco’s classic “Kick Push” for free for everyone on Discord!! Join and enjoy!! #RattPack.”

For a project full of demos and loosies, this output from Logic is still very enjoyable. While there are no themes or storylines woven throughout, it is cool that we have a large collection of random cuts to see his creative process. He does not just sample the one Lupe song, though. Logic also samples plenty of other classics such as “Started From the Bottom” by Drake, “Backseat Freestyle” by Kendrick Lamar,” “Wolves” by Kanye West, “Hustlin’” by Rick Ross, and plenty more. Definitely give Logic’s new effort listen above.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new free mixtape, Inglorious Basterd, from Logic? Do you wish more artists released more free material? Is this Logic’s best release of 2023? Sango And Masego Are A Nice Pairing On “Masego’s Interlude”

Washington-born hip-hop producer and record maker Sango is back with a quickie featuring another producer, Masego. Masego can also sing, which is why he is in Sango’s song, “Masego’s Interlude.” This all sounds like a mouthful, but Sango produced the track, and features Masego’s glistening vocals. It is unfortunate that this is only an interlude because this little teaser is a nice listen. If you check out Sango’s Instagram, you will see that this single is leading off for his upcoming album.

We do not have any word on the project’s title, but what we can tell you is that we are excited about it. Both artists are tremendous producers, both being behind some big hits and just overall solid tracks. For example, Sango is on records such as “In My Room” with Frank Ocean, “The Sequence” with Bryson Tiller, and more. On the other side, Masego is right there with him.

You can thank the Jamaican native for hits like “Champagne Poetry” from Drake, “Skrawberries” by JID, and “Late Night” by Goldlink. Hopefully, both artists work heavily on Sango’s next effort. Both are clearly geniuses when it comes to selecting the right beat for the right vibe. Give the track a listen up above.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand single, “Masego’s Interlude,” from Sango and Masego? Is this one of Sango’s best beats? Is Masego an underrated R&B artist?
