Gunna Cooks Up Something Good In New Studio Pics

Gunna may have already dropped his comeback studio album in 2023, but don’t think he’s slowing his roll down anytime soon. Moreover, new pictures emerged of him in the studio, wearing the same dapper-as-ever fit that he donned for GQ‘s Men Of The Year event. While we didn’t get any snippets or other information that isn’t just the College Park, Georgia native’s presence in the booth, this should still be amping fans of his music up. After all, he had quite the dominant year with the viral success of his track “fukumean” and a massive narrative about his plea deal in the YSL RICO case. That conversation’s not over yet, but it’s clear that it bears no relevance in the development and interest in the Drip Season rapper’s career.

Furthermore, he also had plenty of singles and other material to fill out his 2023 run. For example, Gunna just dropped a new song with Turbo titled “Bachelor,” which might just be a loosie or an indicator of future projects to come. Either way, it’s nice to see that, at the very least, there’s a whole fanbase within the game that is eating this stuff up. It may not be the best or most contextually beneficial thing for many, but we can’t hate on an MC getting their bag.

In fact, it’s also been great to see him expand his range, go outside of his comfort zone, and do a great job in the process. Gunna remixed Victor Thompson’s “This Year,” which saw him enter the Afrobeat genre as if he was already in it for years. Hopefully this isn’t the last surprisingly welcome change of pace that we get from him following the release of a Gift & a Curse. If the 30-year-old just sticks to his lane, his fanbase and appeal will only get him so far.

Meanwhile, amidst a host of RIAA certifications cementing that album’s commercial success, he has a lot to celebrate. Wunna’s definitely proved that he can work hard no matter what issues come his way. All that fans are waiting on is for him to, if everything goes well, continue this trend. Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz Prove They’ve Got “Bars” On New Track

Last week, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz unveiled their eagerly-anticipated new album, Welcome 2 Collegrove. The 21-track LP serves as a follow-up to their unofficial 2016 collaborative album ColleGrove. The duo has been teasing the project for some time now, and so far, fans aren’t disappointed.

The album boasts several high-profile features from the likes of Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Usher, Fabolous, and more. They even joined forces with Benny The Butcher on “Oprah & Gayle,” debuting the track on Young Money Radio at the end of last month. While fans are surely impressed by the album’s star-studded tracklist, listeners are also just glad to see 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne working together again, as they never fail to pack heat with their collabs.

One notable example of this from the joint album is their track “Bars,” which doesn’t feature any guest artists. Braggadocious, witty rhymes meet hard-hitting yet simple production, making it a standout track on the new LP. For obvious reasons, Welcome 2 Collegrove is already on its way to becoming a fan favorite.

Boldy James Rocks His “Brand New Chanel Kicks” On New Nicholas Craven Joint

Boldy James is one of the most consistent forces in the genre of hip-hop. He’s so dedicated that even a car crash hasn’t been able to stop him from sharing his art. On Friday (November 17), he and frequent collaborator Nicholas Craven reunited on “Brand New Chanel Kicks,” which markedly finds the lyricist updating listeners on his recovery journey. “Three weeks ago was paralyzed, my people’s all was terrified / Been had a blue check, but in the streets you know I’m verified,” he raps mid-way through the song.

Elsewhere over Craven’s production, James shares that he was wearing a pair of “Brand New Chanel Kicks” when he was finally able to stand up from his wheelchair, hence the name of their collab. “Screws and rods all in my shit. I couldn’t do nothin’, I couldn’t even move my motherf**kin’ toes,” the 41-year-old says on the outro, reflecting on how far he’s come physically since the January incident.

As Stereogum notes, along with the new single came an announcement for the rapper-producer duo’s next project, Penalty Of Leadership. More details have yet to arrive. Thankfully, Craven’s beats seem to always provide the Atlanta-born artist with the inspiration he needs to express himself in a clever, candid manner.

Tory Lanez, Ari Lennox, & More Headline Latest Update To “R&B Season” Playlist

The latest update to HotNewHipHop’s R&B Season playlist is here, featuring the hottest tracks in the genre from the last week. Among the new additions are songs from Tory Lanez, Ari Lennox, Majid Jordan, and more. For Tory Lanez, the deluxe version of his album, Alone At Prom, notched him two spots on the playlist. His song, “Poison Ivy,” kicks off the playlist while “Crystal Strawberry” comes in three tracks later.

As for Lennox, her song, “Get Close,” co-produced by Wu10 and DZL earned her the placement as the second featured artist. The song marks her first release of the year and since her hit, “Waste My Time,” which topped the R&B radio and Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. Further artists down the playlist include James Fauntleroy, Queen Naija, and Majid Jordan.

Lanez’ Alone At Prom arrives as he begins his 10-year prison sentence in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. They were hating on the young fly, you heard? Had me on 24-hour lockdown. A half-sized cell by myself,” he said. “No windows, no mirrors. N—a ain’t even seen himself in a whole year. Chrisean Rock & Junior Match Outfits During Studio Session, She Previews Emotional New Music

The R&B singer and her team are backing the victim’s pursuit of justice, but for her part, Rock has been denying wrongdoing and focusing on her future. She shared news of an upcoming TV show on a network that’s not Zeus, as well as her alleged island ownership and a look at her apparent new boo, K Suave.

Of course, the 23-year-old is also regularly posting about her two-month-old son, Junior, as he continues to grow. Just a few days ago, Rock said that her baby boy is already trying to talk. He’s certainly getting a taste of how busy his mom’s life is, already appearing in several music videos and at public events alongside the reality star. This past weekend, Chrisean and her firstborn took a trip to the studio together, even wearing matching outfits for the special occasion.

The UK rap scene is extremely crowded and Aitch is one of those many talents across the pond. He is from New Moston, Manchester, and has been in the rap game for about six years now. He has four projects to his name, with the first dropping in 2017. One thing about him is that he likes to keep his projects short. That way, he can leave no extra room for filler tracks. It is a great thing to see Aitch stay true to, especially during the streaming age.

It is so common nowadays to see rappers pad out their tracklists to run up their streams as much as possible. The music quality is almost always compromised and is a big reason why some people, even other rappers, are saying hip-hop is in a bad state. But, like we said, Aitch is sticking to his guns. Sada Baby Drops His Second Tape Of The Year With “SkuBop”

Sada Baby, a rapper hailing from Detroit, Michigan, has made a name for himself by creating high-energy bangers. He does not have a massive fanbase. However, it seems he is more focused on creating what he enjoys and it has still led to a stable career. Baby got his start, at least on streaming, in 2016. A handful of singles with some more local names got the ball rolling for him. His singles catalog is massive, as well as his album discography. It is especially impressive for someone who has been in the game for just seven years.

The project that really set him up for a career was his 2020 tape, Skuba Sada 2. Two tracks became popular amongst Sada Baby’s fans were “Aktivated” and “Pressin” with the late King Von. In addition, the follow-up, Skuba Sada 2.5 in 2022, also contained another hit, “Whole Lotta Choppas (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj.
