Buddy Flexes His Gratitude On New Track “You 2 Thank”

Earlier this week, Buddy unveiled his new track, “You 2 Thank.” The upbeat single sees the Compton native flex his gratitude, as he sings about making the most of the finer things in life. “Celebrate, fall in love, dance slow, kiss somebody,” he urges over a bouncy beat. He enlisted the help of Roofeeo for the feel-good track, which is nothing but motivational.

The song also arrived alongside a fun visualizer, which shows the performer singing and grooving along to the song. So far, fans are loving the positive message of the single, and are looking forward to hearing more. “You 2 Thank” follows the October release of his track “Free My Mind,” which boasts a similarly inspirational message.

Buddy Drops New Single “You 2 Thank”

It’s unclear when exactly Buddy plans on dropping his next full-length project, however, recent Tweets from the performer suggest it could be soon. At the end of last month, he told followers that he’s currently got “3 new albums on ice.” Obviously, listeners can’t wait to hear what he has in store for them, whenever it happens to arrive. He did hint at something arriving the “Friday After Next” on December 1, suggesting that a new album may be on the horizon.

Usher & H.E.R. “Risk It All” On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

What better way to heat yourself up during the winter season than with some steamy soulful jams? Moreover, we’ve compiled the best of the best R&B releases this week for our latest update of our R&B Season playlist. Even though 2023 is coming to a close, that’s by no means indicative of great artists slowing their roll down for the holidays. Leading the pack in that regard is the new single from Usher and H.E.R. from The Color Purple‘s soundtrack, “Risk It All.” The gorgeous duet is led by soft piano, gentle vocal harmonies, and a palpable sense of tension, release, and dedication, and these two do a great job of creating an emotionally resonant piece.

Elsewhere on our R&B Season playlist update, you’ll also find some funky and danceable jams to offset this other mood. This week, that came in the form of the one and only Channel Tres, who just dropped another new single: “Walked In The Room.” With an infectious house-inspired beat, a fluttery bassline, and the singer and producer’s trademark deadpan vocals, this cut is sure to blend in seamlessly with your next dance mix. The shrill and staccato synths towards the end of the song are a nice touch to give more body to this record.

Next up is Tems, whose latest single “Not An Angel” once again shows why she’s such a revered artist these days. The production here makes a lot out of a little when it comes to its frenetic percussive elements, something that her vocals and the guitar leads help to balance out and make more engaging. Also on our R&B Season update is a new release from SAFE, the track “Don’t Call Me Selfish.” This is more of a woozy and trap-inspired offering, whose high-pitched vocals contribute to a hazy and sensual sound.

Rounding out our new picks is the song “Nothing Else Feels The Same” by LOONY, which sounds like a classic soul record from years ago. Finally, we wanted to shout out Amaal Nuux’s newest song, “Celebration,” for a dancehall swing and harmonic display that fits its title. Let us know what your favorite release of these was in the comments down below, and also what we missed from this week. Check out our R&B Season playlist above and stay posted on HNHH for more great music releases around the clock.

J. Cole’s “Let Me Calm Down” Feature On Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” Continues His Impressive Run

There are few mainstream rappers whom Nicki Minaj hasn’t collaborated with, and on Friday (December 8), she crossed a few names off her dream list thanks to the release of her first LP since 2018. On Pink Friday 2, not only do we hear the Trinidadian reconnect with past frequent collaborators like Drake and Lil Wayne, but she and J. Cole also came together for the first time on a track called “Let Me Calm Down.”

Overproduction by ATL Jacob, Hendrix Smoke, and Kujibeats, we hear both lyricists reflect on their problematic relationship dynamics. “My heart sayin’ I love him while I’m screamin’ that I hate him / And ain’t no more debatin’, this time, it’s a ultimatum,” Minaj begins her verse, pouring her heart into every word. “I wrote a line for you and it was beautiful / I made a sign for you to say you’re beautiful / You’re so, so irresistible / Take me to somewhere mystical,” she continues on the chorus.

J. Cole and Nicki Minaj Collab for the First Time on “Let Me Calm Down”

For his part, Cole unsurprisingly continues his streak of killing every feature he’s been on this year. “Uh, havin’ her ain’t for the faint of heart / She bad as f**k but hard to deal with, and it ain’t her fault,” he gasses up the woman in his life. “She got ambition like the ni**as, and the vision for herself / So she can’t rest until she feel like she done made her mark.”

Check out J. Cole and Nicki Minaj’s penmanship on “Let Me Calm Down” above. If you’re feeling the rap legends’ first-ever collaboration, add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. For more HNHH release recommendations, check back in later this weekend.

Kenny Mason Drops Off Three-Song EP “HIGHWAY 9”

As we all know very well by know, the Atlanta rap scene may be the most crowded pool of talent in the country. There are so many artists that are similar and talk about the same things. However, do not be fooled. There are a fair amount who like to experiment and try to put their twist on the trap sound. One of the names that fit that bill is Kenny Mason. The RCA Record signee has been putting out music since 2016.

Edwin Kenneth Green Jr. did not truly pop off till the 2020s decade, though. He has been more well known for his contributions to tracks. But, he definitely has his own slaps as well. Mason has worked with the likes of JID, J. Cole, Denzel Curry, and more.

Listen To HIGHWAY 9 By Kenny Mason

On his projects though, he usually keeps the features low or has none at all. The latter is the case for his newest EP, HIGHWAY 9. These are all fresh songs that play into Kenny’s strengths. “PULP FICTION” stands out a little bit more than “FACTS” and “OFF THE RIP.” It has a guitar-laced instrumental that adds a little extra personality to the song. All in all, they are agreeable songs that fans will be pleased with.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new EP, HIGHWAY 9, by Kenny Mason? Is this his best shortened collection of tracks that he has put out? How would you rank the three songs in order from worst to best? Do you think he is one of the best up-an-coming rappers in the Atlanta rap scene? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Toosii Has An “IDGAF” Attitude On His New Single

Toosii’s growth as an artist since he came into the industry back in 2018 has been exciting. He is only a 23-year-old which is another component to all of this. He has so much more room to grow, especially with his dabbling in rapping and singing. In 2023, he has been putting in work to solidify these skills.

In early June, Toosii came out with maybe his best full listen to date with NAUJOR. It is named after his government name, Nau’Jour Grainger. It featured one of his biggest and best songs, “Favorite Song.” He is already gearing up for another project soon to come.

We have a new single from the album, called “IDGAF.” It is an extremely personal and uplifting track about loving yourself, removing toxicity, and also working hard for everything even if it means failing. It features some solid vocal work from Toosii as well, adding to the emotional weight.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “IDGAF,” by Toosii? Is this one of the best tracks he has ever released, why or why not? Do you prefer when he sings or raps on a track? Other than that, a h* can’t get no love from a G
Ain’t it crazy how the moment life feel so amazing

That’s the reason I don’t come out and stay inside my home
I got this thing with myself, you fool me once, shame on you

Rowdy Rebel Comes Through With Concise 10-Track LP “Back Outside”

New York MC Rowdy Rebel has been in the game for about eight years now. Since he is a veteran in the industry, you would think he would have a ton of material out. However, the opposite is actually true. To be fair, some of that certainly attributed to the legal trouble he was involved in with Bobby Shmurda, back in 2014. However, it is still a surprise that he only has five projects to his name.

But, this past year or so has seen him make up for lost time behind bars. Rowdy has dropped three projects with the latest being Back Outside. This is a quick follow-up to his April release with Fetty Luciano, Splash Brothers. His co-partner happens to land on this project too.

GloRilla’s Juggling Two Upcoming Projects, “Always” Working On New Material

During a recent interview with NFL City Life, GloRilla revealed that she’s booked and busy as of late, juggling multiple upcoming projects at the same time. According to the Memphis-born performer, she’s always working on new material, ensuring that listeners always have something to look forward to from her. The projects she has on the way are pretty exciting, though she didn’t share many details.

“I’m always workin’ on some new work,” she explained. “I’m workin’ on a project right now. Two different projects.” GloRilla continued, describing how one of the projects is a collab, while the other is her debut album. Fans, of course, can’t wait to hear what the hitmaker has in store for them.

GloRilla On Her New Music

While the idea of her first full-length album is exciting enough, listeners also eagerly anticipate the collab, though they’ve yet to learn who GloRilla’s teamed up with. There are a few fellow female MCs that she turned down in the past, however, as revealed by Hitkidd on X this week. According to him, a couple of high-profile rappers were interested in hopping on the remix of “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” and he had to make some tough calls.

Nicki Minaj called me to get on the FNF remix,” he wrote. “But I still went who I already had on it because I gave them my word. No cap, Cardi wanted to get on the FNF remix and I hit Meg up to get on there with her. I was tryna change the game and put the hottest women artists on one song! [… ] I fw Nicki’s artistry but I made a moral decision,” he added. “Like I said I was trying to get everybody one song and change the game. I’ll have to get [the other remix] cleared , we have the video with Saweetie though. She showed us a lot of love which is why I still want to drop it. Hopefully we can drop it for the fans!” What do you think of GloRilla claiming that she’s working on two new projects right now? Are you looking forward to hearing her upcoming music? NLE Choppa Takes Pot Shots At Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, & Chrisean Rock On “Shotta Flow 7”

NLE Choppa’s 2023 has been an eventful one, to say the least. The Memphis rapper is sort of a goofy character in the current hip-hop scene. Honestly, though, it is always a treat to see what the 21-year-old artist is going to do next. He had a lot of people talking after hearing his rendition of Nelly’s classic hit with “IT’S GETTING HOT.”

Outside of music, Choppa has said and done some things online that have caused debate as well. Back in August, he posted an unsolicited feet picture in a random photo dump on Instagram. In October, he had people worried about his safety after he “disappeared” to his hometown to shoot a music video. All in all, it has been a whirlwind of a year for him, and this new track caps one to remember for sure.

NLE is bringing his beloved “Shotta Flow” series to an end with the seventh entry. It boasts production credits from Tay Keith and may feature some of the funniest bars out of them all. The first line in the first verse takes an unexpected shot at Chrisean Rock, and it is quite funny. “I was missin’ the action like Chrisean tooth.” But, that is not the only notable line. “Wanna f*** Kim K and make Kanye watch,” is another one. Finally, for good measure here is one more, “Back leg loose like a n**** had to poot.” This is pure poetry and we are going to miss the series deeply after this one.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “Shotta Flow 7,” by NLE Choppa? Where does this installment rank amongst the rest of the “Shotta Flow” series? Does this one contain the funniest bars out of all seven of them, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. “Nicki Hendrix” Finds Future & Nicki Minaj In Their Element: Stream

2023 has been been one of the strongest years for female rap in recent memory. Creatives like Doja Cat, Flo Milli, and Megan Thee Stallion are among those holding down the industry in recent months. Now that the final weeks of December are here, the remaining New Music Friday arrivals are trickling in. Nicki Minaj made sure we ended on a high note yesterday (December 8) with her first LP since 2018’s Queen. After a few delays, Pink Friday 2 officially hit DSPs in all its glory, complete with features from Drake, Lil, Wayne, and Future. The latter appears on “Nicki Hendrix,” which finds both artists in their feelings over relationships gone awry.

“I knew you was somethin’ serious, wanted to protect you / Never upset you, just wanted to sex you,” the Atlanta-based performer admits on the first verse. Afterward, Future continues on the chorus, crooning about not being as different from the woman in his life as she may think. In the latter half of “Nicki Hendrix,” the mother of one shows out, confidently reminding listeners that she’s the prize.
