Mez Enlists Isaiah Rashad, SAINt JHN, MAVI, & More For “The Loading EP”

Raleigh, North Carolina rapper and wordsmith extraordinaire Mez has just come through with a new project called The Loading EP. The seven-song set runs just under 19 minutes long and has a pretty impressive feature list to boot. It is clear that Mez did not want this to be a thrown together offering. Him putting care into everything, including the guests, shows that he was not messing around.

Childish Major, Kurtis Wells, Isaiah Rashad, SAINt JHN, MAVI, and Leon Bridges were all called upon to deliver. Each guest certainly brings a different energy to each cut, helping to diversify the sounds. For Mez, this is his first solo project of any kind, despite being in the game since 2015. Most people might have heard of him through his contributions to Dr. Dre’s last record, Compton.

Listen To The Loading EP By Mez

Even though this is a solid listen through and through, fans are definitely still awaiting an album. He definitely has the ability to carry the load in a longer format and we cannot wait for it. One song that we wanted to highlight is “Bat Phone.” Fans have also been digging it, as it has quickly risen into his top five most popular tracks on Spotify. Part of the reason is the writing, but also the sample. If it sounds familiar, that is because Future and Metro Boomin used the same one on “Beat It” from WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP The Loading EP by Mez? Which tracks are you gravitating toward the most right now and why? Who had the strongest feature on the project and why? Do you think he has something bigger coming down the road? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Rico Nasty Explores The Realms Of Dance With Boys Noize On New EP “HARDCORE DR3AMZ”

Rico Nasty is an underrated female MC in today’s hip-hop landscape. She likes to lean into the experimental side of the genre at times, but also has no problems going conventional either. Releasing music since 2016, the Maryland artist last put out a project in 2022 with Las Ruinas. She has been dropping some singles since that time, but her feature game is what continues to really impress as of late. Some of her standouts include “Ain’t No Way” from Denzel Curry’s Melt My Eyez See Your Future and “Pop” from BLUE LIPS. This past weekend, Rico Nasty made a small return with a new EP HARDCORE DR3AMZ.

For this three-song offering, Rico is working with an international friend of hers. Boys Noize, a German electronic and dance producer, has made tracks with her in the past called “Girl Crush” and “Money.” So, this marks the first time these two opposite talents have clashed for a project of any kind. We believe that this could be a route that Rico could do well in on a full listen.

The up-tempo production matches the wild energy of the “Smack A B****” MC to a tee. Up until HARDCORE DR3AMZ‘s release, the duo teased the project with one track being the opener “Arintintin.” She had a lot of fun making this laid-back EP, especially the closer “H.O.T.” Rico spoke with Hypebeast, saying, “Let the haters know something and give the lurkers a show! Making this was so refreshing and reminded me that everything doesn’t have to be so serious all the time.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, HARCORE DR3AMZ, by Rico Nasty and Boys Noize? Is this the rapper’s most experimental project of his career, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Which song are you choosing as the best from this EP? MGK & Trippie Redd Wallow In Their Sorrows On New EP “Genre : Sadboy”

Trippie Redd and mgk are two legends in the Ohio rap scene. Both artists have taken on multiple genres across their careers from pop punk to emo rap, and much more. They have been close collaborators as well, so it makes sense why these two are bringing us a full body of work. Considered an EP, genre : sadboy sees Trippie Redd and mgk give us 10 cuts of ranging across those aforementioned genres.

According to Genius, this has been in the making for a couple of years. In fact, 2021 was the first time that this idea was brought up. Trippie did an interview with Bleu Magazine, expressing how hype he was to rep Ohio on the now-released genre : sadboy. “Me and mgk are working on an album actually on some Ohio s***. I want to get Kid Cudi on it, too. That’s my boy, I love him. We came up with a name that plays off of Ohio. And it’s gon’ be a mix of rock and hip-hop music. That’s our album together… It would be Ohio’d out.”

Listen To Genre : Sadboy By MGK & Trippie Redd

Three years later the project is here. The duo gave us the lead and only single “lost boys” on March 26. Some fans were not too excited about this release, saying how mgk is too old to be making tracks like this. A good deal of the EP delves into pretty surface-level topics about drugs, addiction, relationships and the standard tropes of emo and punk. JID is the lone feature, making an uncredited cameo on “who do i call.” Unfortunately, this tape is pretty standard, but it is cool that mgk and Trippie made this happen.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, genre : sadboy, by mgk and Trippie Redd? Is this each rapper’s best project of their careers, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Who had the stronger performances on the record? Do you think they should drop another project together in the future? Jorja Smith Taps Three French Rappers For “GO GO GO” EP

Jorja Smith has one of the most stunning voices in all of soul/pop/R&B. The veteran from the UK has been delivering some dreamy tracks for about eight years now. She has given fans a lot of singles and loosies since her debut in 2018, Lost & Found. However, after a long five-year wait, she came through with her sophomore tape falling or flying. Fans began to got word of it being in the works after Jorja Smith dropped her first solo single since May 2023, “GO GO GO.”

The song was fun but also a middle finger to a man not wanting commitment. Pop rock in tone, it further showcased Jorja’s multi-faceted abilities. Since falling or flying, she delivered a performance for The Color Purple soundtrack. However, nothing has really dropped since. But do not fret, Jorja decided to revive the fan-favorite “GO GO GO” for a new EP of the same name.

In fact, “GO GO GO” is not the only song receiving some reworks. “Blue Lights” is also getting some love, as Jorja adds French rappers Josman and Dosseh to each one respectively. It is safe to say that she was inspired to do this based on Oboy’s inclusion for a remix of “Come Over” which originally had Popcaan on it. Oboy’s version is the third in the trio of French remakes. Be sure to check them out above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, GO GO GO, by Jorja Smith? Is this one of her best songs in the last year or so, why or why not? Who added the most to three tracks and why? Was it worth adding Josman to “GO GO GO?” We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Montell Fish’s Alter Ego DJ Gummy Bear Delivers Meditative Cuts On “Intercession Before Charlotte”

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania genre-bending artist Montell Fish received our first coverage last week for his single with dj gummy bear “Irrational.” However, the latter is not another artist. In fact, it is an alter ego, if you will. The single was to promote Montell Fish’s/gummy’s EP Intercession Before Charlotte. Well, today the “duo” is here to deliver that project and it features six tracks with zero features. Essentially, think of gummy bear as a producer and Montell is the performer.

After listening to the tape, this may be the most relaxing thing we have heard this year. The production takes center stage with elements of lo-fi and alternative. Montell’s lyrics are little bit of an afterthought, but not in a bad way. It just seems that this was clearly more of a dj gummy bear project compared to a Fish album.

Listen To Intercession Before Charlotte By Montell Fish & DJ Gummy Bear

Additionally, this will not be the last we hear from Montell. At some point, he will be dropping the follow-up Charlotte, which is going to be an LP. The meaning for this EP, according to a Hypebeast interview, was for dj gummy bear to keep Montell away from the distractions of fame. That will be talked about on Charlotte. He explains it further in the chat with the publication, but the other meaning behind Intercession is a distraction from the LP itself, meaning he needs more time to get it done.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, Intercession Before Charlotte, by Montell Fish and dj gummy bear? Is this his best project to date, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Are you excited for their upcoming album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Blu & Shafiq Husayn Drop Off A Hazy Three-Pack With Their “Roll Up” EP

Blu, one of the most talented rappers when it comes to both flow and writing, is back with a new trio of cuts for us. 2024 has proven to be a busy one already, as the Los Angeles California artist has dropped a single, an EP, and a collaborative album. Going back to that EP for a second, that was also a team effort. He worked with producer Shafiq Husayn to bring along We Bang. Similar to Blu and Shafiq’s newest set of tracks, Roll Up, We Bang included three recordings as well.

According to Blu and Nature Sounds’ Instagram accounts, both of these small care packages will be a part of something larger. “Blu and Shafiq Husayn are now announcing Out Of The Blue, a new album set for release on March 29th.” This will mark their second tape together, going back to the 2018 mixtape The Blueprint. While “We Bang” was the lead single, that drop also had its instrumental and “Brains Blue” paired with it.

“Roll Up” does the same thing, as Blu and Shafiq have given us “Very Amazing” too. The first of the two is very chill with excellent rhymes from Blu over a bassy beat. “Very Amazing” is a different vibe, as the instrumental is more scattered and unorthodox. Be sure to check out the tracks above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, Roll Up, by Blu and Shafiq Husayn? Is this their best set of tracks together, why or why not? What was your favorite track in this three-pack and why? Montell Fish Along With Second Alias DJ Gummy Bear, Tease Upcoming EP With “Irrational”

Montell Fish is an exciting and enticing artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that is always mixing things up. It is a big reason why he has becoming popular but yet still flies under the radar. He likes to experiment with separate genres such as lo-fi soft pop, chill hip-hop, and R&B. It is quite the mouthful, but it leads to some excellent pieces of music. Today, we are covering Montell Fish and dj gummy bear’s new collaborative single “Irrational.”

However, dj gummy bear is not a separate entity entirely. Essentially, he is a second alias of Montell Fish. According to the Spotify profile, he is “a character from the brain of Montell Fish. Used as a way to further experiment with sounds, concepts, and musical ideas.” This single has a strong dance/lo-fi feel to it with its steady and fast-paced drums. Montell also takes the reins on production here.

Jean Dawson Delivers 3 New Tracks With “Boohoo” EP

Jean Dawson has shared a new three-song EP, Boohoo, featuring the tracks, “New Age Crisis,” “Taste Like Metal,” and “Divino Desmadre.” The latter is Dawson’s first full song in Spanish. He debuted “New Age Crisis,” earlier this week. BBC Radio 1 named it the “Hottest Record Of The Week.”

In a press release with the new project’s release, the effort is described as “a collection of tracks that serve as an overture for his upcoming full-length album out later this year, painting a striking picture of what is to come with tracks ‘New Age Crisis,’ ‘Taste Like Metal,’ and his first full track in Spanish, ‘Divino Desmadre.’” Check out the new songs on Spotify below.

Jean Dawson Shares 3 New Tracks

Dawson previously discussed how he got into music at the age of 13 as an escape during an interview with Alternative Press, last year. “I spent a lot of that time listening to music more as a distraction than as a means of feeling anything,” he told the outlet. “I needed a distraction because I was waking up at 4 o’clock in the morning as a child. It’s not ‘woe is me’ but more like that just was the circumstance that I lived in to get to school by 8 o’clock. I’ve had an experience for four hours of the day that kids could never imagine.” He landed possibly his biggest collaboration in 2023 by working with SZA for the song, “No SZNs.” She had described him as “the fucking future” on Twitter back in 2021.

Jean Dawson Promotes His New Album

Later this month, Dawson will be performing at Mexico’s Ceremonia festival. He is also joining Lil Yachty on his Field Trip tour in Europe beginning in April. Those shows will run through the end of May. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jean Dawson on HotNewHipHop.

Meek Mill’s “Heathenism” First-Week Sales Get Him Ripped Apart By Critics

It’s been an undoubtedly challenging few weeks for Meek Mill, and it looks like the Philly-born performer simply cannot catch a break. At the end of February, rumors that he was named in Diddy’s latest lawsuit and slept with the Bad Boy Records founder ran wild. Despite having denied these allegations on various occasions, social media users continue to speculate. Amid chatter surrounding that whole debacle, Meek wrecked his brand-new car. Luckily, he seems to have been uninjured in the crash, though he admits it knocked him out.

Things appeared to be looking up for the rapper when he announced and later unleashed his new EP Heathenism last week. While it’s been met with praise from countless fans since its release, critics continue to knock him online. This has only been compounded since the project’s first-week sales were announced earlier today.

Meek Mill’s Heathenism EP Sells 6K Its First Week

According to a recent Tweet from DJ Akademiks, Heathenism sold 6K in its first week. While the number is certainly far lower than most fans probably expected, he appears to have remained confident in his success, based on his latest Twitter/X posts. Unfortunately, however, not everybody is so convinced. Ak’s comments section has been flooded by countless users clowning him for the project’s arguably low sales, and they’re not holding back.

“All that controversy and still couldn’t break 10k,” one critic writes. “Flopped so hard,” another claims. Several users also took the opportunity to joke about Meek Mill and DJ Akademiks’ recent feud, and how glad the latter probably was to spread the news. “Ak rubbing his hands together after getting this information,” one user says.

Social Media Users Clown Meek Mill Over Heathenism First-Week Sales

What do you think of Meek Mill’s new EP Heathenism selling 6k in its first week? Are you surprised? Do you think he deserves the clowning he’s receiving online, or are critics doing too much? Share your thoughts in the comments section, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check out some Twitter/X users’ reactions down below.

Lil Peep’s Estate Shares Three Recordings On New EP “HATE ME”

Even after Lil Peep’s tragic passing back in November of 2017, the fans have continued to show immense support. A huge reason for this is because of the rapper’s mother Liza Womack. She had a sweet message for the undying supporters when she helped rollout the original version of Come Over When You’re Sober , Pt. 2. “I encourage Gus’s fans to enjoy the music that Gus created, listened to, and loved.” It was clear that they had a beautiful and loving mother/son relationship and it makes it all the more saddening that he is still not with us today.

To help carry on the spirit of Lil Peep, his team has just put out a short project called HATE ME. It is an EP with three tracks, all recorded back in October of 2016. For context, that is when Peep released his first two projects, crybaby and HELLBOY. According to Genius, these recordings were pushed by First Access Entertainment, a UK-founded company that has its subsidiary label called Access Records.

Listen To HATE ME By Lil Peep

Apparently, they wanted Lil Peep to go more radio-friendly and mainstream with these tracks. But, they encouraged him to keep the same lyrical content we are used to hearing from the emo rap legend. It features two “og versions” for “Spotlight” and “Hate Me.” The first of the two was a track with EDM superstar Marshmello, while the latter was on Come Over When You’re Sober , Pt. 2.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, HATE ME, by Lil Peep? Is this some of his strongest posthumous material yet, why or why not? What is your favorite song and why? Was he the best emo rapper in the game, or does he still hold that title? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section.
