DC The Don Releases Coveted Throwaways On New Mixtape “SACRED HEART 2 (+)”

A few days ago we compiled a list of five artists who we expect to really blow up in 2024. We went for names that were starting to garner some attention but have not reached the maximum potential just yet. After sitting with it for the past week or so, there might have been someone who should have made the cut. DC The Don, a Wisconsin native, was grossly underlooked.

He can sing and rap and floats around the trap and melodic rap subgenres. DC shares similarities with other artists in these lanes, but is developing a unique sound. Last year he impressed us with some singles such as “Tell Shyanne” and his deluxe version of FUNERAL. DC The Don is back now to deliver a sequel to his SACRED HEART mixtape series.

I know the mixing is s*** on some songs most of these are lost records from when my car was robbed & they took my hard drive/laptop. so I couldn’t mix these but I wanted you to have them.”

Logic Finally Delivers Update On Long Lost “Ultra 85” Project

Logic is an artist who has dropped a lot of music over the last couple of decades. Overall, he burst onto the scene with his mixtapes in the early 2010s. Subsequently, he dropped some massive albums with Under Pressure and The Incredible True Story. However, when he dropped Everybody, he got hit with quite a bit of criticism. Some felt his subject matter was repetitive, and with each subsequent release, those criticisms got louder.

However, after a brief retirement, Logic has returned with some of the best material of his career. Heading into 2024, fans have been optimistic about what he may come out with next. Well, as it turns out, he has something interesting up his sleeve. Taking to Instagram recently, he posted a blacked-out photo with the caption, “Ultra 85 2024.” For those who may not know, Ultra 85 is an album that Logic has been teasing for years at this point. In fact, some thought it was the original name for Everybody.

Logic With An Update

Regardless, the album is now set to drop this year, and fans have a reason to be excited. That said, as you can see from the comments section, some are a bit perplexed by the announcement. Overall, most comments centered around the fact that this has been a project six years in the making. “Bro I was in 7th grade when that got announced n I just started college bro hurry that shit up,” one person wrote. “We really getting Ultra 85 before GTA6,” said another commenter. While people are excited, the optimism does seem at least a little bit cautious.

Hopefully, we get some more updates on this album, very soon. Let us know what you think of this upcoming project, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming releases.

Boldy James & Nicholas Craven Announce Release Date For New Album

Boldy James and Nicholas Craven are kicking 2024 off with a bang with their new album, Penalty of Leadership. After many teases and a couple of singles, namely “Brand New Chanel Kicks” and “No Pun Intended,” producer Craven announced that the project will come out on Friday, January 12. As such, many die-hards and hip-hop heads in general think that this will be among the first amazing albums this year. It sounds magnificent up to this point, if the singles are any solid indication, which is unsurprising to witness from this duo. All we can hope for is that the material they’re saving for next week is even better than what they offered as appetizers.

Of course, a big reason behind this hype is the established collaborative chemistry between Boldy James and Nicholas Craven. Their 2022 full-length, Fair Exchange No Robbery, was one of the year’s most acclaimed releases, and holds a special place in both artists’ catalogs. In addition, they had previously linked up on the beatmaker’s Craven N 3 record, and are building on how well they fit each other’s styles. However, an important narrative part of Penalty of Leadership seems to be the Detroit MC’s car crash in early 2023, which this album’s recording, promotional artwork, and lyrical content seems to tackle.

Nicholas Craven Unveils Penalty Of Leadership Release Date With Boldy James

For example, Nicholas Craven had said on Twitter that “No Pun Intended” was the last song they recorded after Boldy James almost fully recovered from the accident, whereas “Brand New Chanel Kicks” was recorded shortly after the crash. The Montreal sonic wizard’s output without him was still great in 2023, including the Ransom collab EP Deleted Scenes 2. On the other hand, the “Disco Fever” spitter kicked the year off– much like he will in 2024– with the album Indiana Jones with RichGains, plus other EPs, singles, and features throughout. As such, we know that they’re by no means out of practice, and that they worked just as hard, if not harder, on Penalty of Leadership.

Meanwhile, we already know that this won’t be Bo’s only album this year. He just released the project 1LB (One Lucky Bastard) with Your Boy Posca, available exclusively via physical vinyl and cassette copies. Looks like it’s going to be another fantastic year for all the concreatures out there. For more news and the latest updates on Boldy James and Nicholas Craven, stay up to date on HNHH.

Skepta Finally Announces New Album, Lead Single Coming In January

Just about a month ago, Skepta teamed up with 19-year-old producer Ryder for the 48 Hours EP, a solid offering. However, its quality still didn’t dissuade his fan from lamenting the lack of a full-length solo album since 2020’s Insomnia, although a new house-based project with Jammer under the name Más Tiempo is apparently in the works. Regardless, die-hards are still waiting for a follow-up, but fortunately, 2024 brings us very good news. It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours into the year as of writing this article, and we’re already sure that many listeners found their most anticipated project of the year.

“It’s been years since I dropped my last album,” Skepta shared in a message to his various social media accounts on Monday (January 1). “I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus. I’ve seen the messages, tweets and Tik Toks, I’m truly grateful that my music is still resonating with the world, even in my absence. I’m happy to announce my next studio album #KnifeAndFork is loading this year, the first single #GasMeUp (Diligent) will be out January 26th. Can’t wait to see you all @bigsmokefestival happy 2024.”

Furthermore, it looks like the legendary grime MC is finally coming through with some LP heat in this new year. Hopefully no release hiccups or delays occur, but at least we already have solid indication that “Gas Me Up (Diligent)” is going to be a banger. A snippet of the Skepta single released on social media recently, and many fans are singing its praises. The “Can’t Play Myself” artist flows with easy skill and the same confidence as ever over a perc-heavy and blissfully woozy trap instrumental.

Listen To The “Gas Me Up (Diligent)” Snippet

Meanwhile, as his A$AP Rocky collab “Praise Da Lord (Da Shine)” hit 1 billion Spotify streams, Big Smoke has a lot to celebrate from 2023. Fortunately, it seems like he’s focusing those successes and that time off to really hone in on something special for his fanbase. Are you looking forward to Knife And Fork, and where do you think the 41-year-old will take us with this vision? DC The Don Reflects On Tour Life In New Track “BACKSTAGE”

Earlier this week, DC The Don dropped his new project Sacred Heart 2 just in time for the holidays. The Milwaukee-born performer shared a message with Twitter followers ahead of the release, revealing that it was his curated gift to his fans. According to the 24-year-old, his car was robbed a while back, and the perpetrator stole his laptop and hard drive.

While he admits that the mix isn’t necessarily up to his standards on some tracks, he wanted to release them for fans anyway. The project is a follow-up to the Sacred Heart mixtape he dropped on Christmas in 2022 to hold fans over for his third studio album. He went on to unleash Funeral in May of last year.

DC The Don Unveils Sacred Heart 2

“I couldn’t mix these but I wanted you to have them,” he wrote alongside a kiss emoji. There a quite a few standout songs on Sacred Heart 2, but one that’s quickly become a fan favorite is “BACKSTAGE.” The mellow track sees the Wisconsin native reminisce about being on the road, and all of the exciting chaos that comes along with it.

DC The Don doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon, with a new project already in the works. Rebirth, his follow-up to Funeral, is slated for release sometime in 2024. Listeners have yet to hear an official release date, but it’s safe to say they can’t wait. What do you think of DC The Don’s track “BACKSTAGE” from Sacred Heart 2? Boldy James & Your Boy Posca Claim “They Vouching” On Grimy New Single: Stream

As if Boldy James didn’t prove himself enough this year after a nasty car crash, he came through with the help of producer Your Boy Posca for one more excellent drop in 2023. Moreover, they just released the single “They Vouching,” the only digital release from their new project 1LB (One Lucky Bastard). It released exclusively on various vinyl and cassette variants through the Near Mint website, and some copies still remain at press time, so act fast to get yours in the mail soon. It’s a grimy cut that showcases the Detroit spitter’s excellent flows, rhyme schemes, and wordplay.

Furthermore, Your Boy Posca highlights this style with some ethereal flute samples, ambient synth tones, and a very light but crisp drum beat. Lyrically, Boldy James keeps finding new ways to rap about street life and its parallels with his skill in the rap game with a lot of vivid imagery, clever turns of phrase, and a cold, calculated, but hyper-focused demeanor. It’s a style that he easily dominates with nonchalant but impressive flows, which makes the content within once you peep past his monotone delivery that much more impressive. The 41-year-old displayed similar characteristics to equally quality results on this year’s projects Prisoner of Circumstance with producer ChanHays and Indiana Jones with producer RichGains.

Meanwhile, he’s no stranger to physical-only releases, either. This year, Bo also came through with the physical-exclusive ADU with producer Real Bad Man, which comprised of a couple of tracks based on Sade samples. Given merch for 1LB, it seems like this will be a seven-track effort, plus the instrumentals, which suggests a no-frills and all-killer approach that “They Vouching” attests to. French Montana Unveils “Mac & Cheese 5” Cover Art

French Montana took inspiration from his home country of Morocco for the recently-unveiled Mac & Cheese 5 album cover. Moreover, the mixtape– which will end the Mac & Cheese series that defined much of his rise and his career– is set to release on January 5. One week before this on Friday (December 29), the South Bronx rapper took to social media to share this new cover along with WORLDSTAR, and fans seem pretty excited for the effort. However, others expressed concern for the image’s presumed reference to satanic one-eye imagery or the Illuminati, which is definitely reading way too deeply into it.

What’s more is that French Montana is really balling out a lot these days in the lead-up to this new project’s release, as he wants to get into a celebratory mood. For example, he recently showed off his pricey and stylish fit at a recent NBA game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets. Many fans noticed the “No Stylist” MC’s Louis Vuitton Air Force 1s, which he said in the video in question that they cost him $200K. That’s a ridiculous bag for some shoes, but when you’re as successful as he is, you can afford the indulgences every once in a while.

French Montana’s Mac & Cheese 5 Cover Art

In addition to the standard flexing, French Montana is also reflecting on the most definitive parts of his career that he wants to continue to represent. During a recent appearance on Fame & Flavor with food influencer Cugine, the culinary star asked him what the “Coke” in “Coke Boys” stands for. According to the 39-year-old, the title and label name (which was previously named Cocaine City Records) actually stands for “Creation Of Kings Everywhere.” That’s a worthwhile pursuit to champion, albeit a cheeky dodge of the more obvious interpretation.

Meanwhile, what do you think about this Mac & Cheese 5 cover and whether or not there are any occult references here? Also, what did you think of his Lil Baby-assisted single “Okay” to kick off the lead-up to it? However you may feel, let us know in the comments section down below. Lil Nas X Reveals He Wrote And Directed His Next Music Video

Lil Nas X released his debut album MONTERO back in 2021 and he’s been pretty quiet since then by popstar standards. But 2024 is looking to be a big year for the rapper and singer as he’s already begun sharing teases for what he has coming next. Last month he posted a snippet of new music which saw him going in a very different stylistic direction. He teased it as his “Christian Era” which didn’t sit right with some of his critics.

Some of the same voices who were upset when Lil Nas used demonic imagery in the music video for his song MONTERO spoke up again. But Lil Nas fired back at critics and even had other artists like Kid Cudi and Lecrae coming to his defense. He doubled down on making a joke out of the backlash earlier this week. Nas shared a website he set up to once again tease a new album coming soon. The page poked fun at some of the Christian conspiracy theories that his critics have made about him over the years. Now he’s once again sharing details on new music in a newly posted tweet.

Lil Nas X Self-Directed Music Video

When Lil Nas X received backlash for his alleged “Christian Era” it wasn’t even the first time in the past few months that he found himself in hot water. Many critics once again took aim at the rapper for his bold Halloween costume. He shared pictures to Instagram revealing his elaborate tampon costume. Many music fans, men in particular, had their own issues with the outfit.

Lil Nas X’s most recent single “STAR WALKIN” dropped last year. The track was released in collaboration with the video game League Of Legends. It went on to be a surprise hit. The song now has almost 400 million streams on Spotify. What do you think of Lil Nas X writing and directing his own next music video? Do you think the rapper will drop a new album in 2024? Lil Baby Claims He’s “Gone” Until New Album Drops

Lil Baby has been teasing his next album for some time, but it looks like the Atlanta native is taking it more seriously now than ever. In a new Instagram post, the 29-year-old is seen posing in front of a whip, performing onstage, and even retrieving some takeout, letting fans know that he’s honed in. “Mention My Name An Bring The Whole City Out,” he captioned the fun carousel. “Ps . I’m Gone Until The Album.”

While an official release date for the project has yet to be announced, he told fans earlier this month that they can expect to hear it in July. Based on his recent post, it appears that Lil Baby will be on a bit of a hiatus until then. He did come through with a double single a couple of weeks back, however, giving listeners a taste of what’s to come with “Cr*zy” and “350.”

Lil Baby’s New Album Arrives In July

Lil Baby also just recently rang in his 29th year with a star-studded birthday concert, which saw him bring out special guests J. Cole and Quavo. Yung Miami even popped out for a performance, flirting with the hitmaker onstage. “If I throw it back can you catch it?” she asked him, offering a preview of her moves. He didn’t take the City Girl up on her offer, but the scandalous moment still managed to generate plenty of chatter.

Music isn’t the only thing Lil Baby has been working hard at lately, either. This month, it was revealed that he’ll also be appearing in the third season of BMF. The rapper will share the screen with Cynthia Bailey, 2 Chainz, Ne-Yo, and more. What do you think of Lil Baby narrowing his focus to work on his new album? Are you looking forward to hearing it? Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, ScHoolboy Q & The Alchemist Cooked Up A Heater With “Fork In The Pot”

Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and the Alchemist came through with a project a few years ago called Hall & Nash 2. However, this project never actually made its way to streaming services. Instead, a few songs here and there ended up being released online. Overall, fans were hoping that we would see the day in which the project would get an official release. Well, today was that day as Hall & Nash 2: The Original Version hit streaming services. This has led to a revisit of the project’s nine tracks.

One track that we are taking a look at is none other than “Fork In The Pot.” This is a song that features none other than ScHoolboy Q. Although Q is in a bit of a different lane, he certainly fits in with the artists on display here. Below, you can find the audio and music video to the song, which was released over five years ago. For some, revisiting this track is going to bring about some nostalgia. It also helps that the instrumental here has an 80s twinge to it that brings it to another level.
