Ashanti, the renowned “Smile” singer, marked her birthday on Oct. 15th with a star-studded celebration at LIV. Her beau, rapper Nelly, joined her, and the couple showcased their rekindled love while singing along to their hits, “Body on Me” and “The Way That I Love You.”
Ja Rule also made an appearance at the extravagant birthday bash. The night was filled with music, laughter, and heartwarming reunions, proving that sometimes, in the world of music, old flames can remain friends. Ashanti’s birthday celebration at LIV was an unforgettable night filled with cherished memories.
Nelly had Ashanti speechless as he presented her birthday gifts, showing an iced-out watch and flooding her neck. While opening the gifts, Ashanti is held speechless, in awe. She puts on all the pieces and celebrates with her man, continuously hugging him and showing appreciation.
Nelly had Ashanti literally lost for words after he iced out her wrist and lit up her neck for her birthday!
Nelly pulled up on Rasheeda and Kirk Frost and revealed he and Ashanti are officially an item again.
“We cool again,” Nelly said. “It surprised both of us. It wasn’t anything planned. We both were doing what we do. Sometimes being seperate, you understand somebody more. We can all be defensive in our relationships.”
He added, “It’s no pressure. Before I felt we were doing what we were doing career-wise. When you got so many people in the middle, it could be tough.”
The VMAs were last night and music industry stars showed out from start to finish. They were so packed with big names that some even made appearances in the pre-show. One of those performances was a perfect pairing between NLE Choppa and Nelly. They teamed up to perform a medley of Nelly’s classic hit “It’s Getting Hot” and the NLE Choppa song that interpolates it “Hot In Herre.” The two performers blended together perfectly treating fans to a hyped-up performance. On the pink carpet, Choppa explained how the collab came about. “It just simply came about by reaching out to him and just asking. And this was one of the moments he was waiting for — to have with me and we did and we shared the stage and we graced it.”
One of the things that stood out to fans online was that NLE Choppa was performing choreography on stage. While choreo has been creeping into hip-hop in recent years it is almost exclusively reserved for female rappers. Fans watching Choppa unveil some pre-planned dance moves reminded of another rapper who recently dipped his toes into choreography, Offset. After a tweet of Choppa’s dancing made the rounds, one quote tweet in particular made the comparison. “Offset got the girls shook!” it said. Check out the entire interaction below.
NLE Choppa has lofty ambitions for himself as an artist. Last month when it was pointed out that hip-hop had gone a full year without a song reaching the number one spot on the charts, he reacted. He claimed that he would be the one to break the trend, but ultimately that didn’t happen. Subsequently, Doja Cat’s single “Paint The Town Red” jumped up to a new peak at the number one spot this week.
If Choppa was going to get a number one it could be his newest single “College Girls.” The track is a party anthem claiming that college girls have more fun. What do you think of NLE Choppa performing choreography at the VMAs? Let us know in the comment section below.
In a recent interview, Nelly confirmed that he and Ashanti have rekindled their romance. The 48-year-old rapper spoke about their relationship on Rasheeda and Kirk Frost’s podcast, Boss Moves With Rasheeda. Nelly has made it official official. Nelly pulled up on Rasheeda and Kirk Frost and revealed he and Ashanti are officially an item again.

Nelly and Ashanti showed off their joint singing skills, tackling Usher’s “Nice & Slow.” Nelly uploaded a video of him and bae in unison, hitting all the notes of the My Way classic.
Nelly got his bae back. After being seen together at the Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia fight earlier this year, Nelly and Ashanti appeared to be an item once again. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, a source stated they are elated about their reunion.
“Both of them are very happy,” a source said. Another added that they are “enjoying their time together.”
Nelly and Ashanti haven’t exactly been trying to keep the fact that they’re spending time together again a secret, but still, neither artist officially confirmed their rekindled relationship status until this month. In one of his most recent interviews, the “Just A Dream” artist happily let the world know that he and his ex are giving love another chance. However, he did admit that it was a surprise for both him and Ashanti to find themselves coming back into each other’s lives so naturally.
“Yeah, we cool again,” Nelly told the hosts he was speaking to while grinning from ear to ear. As if his smile didn’t give away the strong feelings he has for the New Yorker, he was also notably red in the face from blushing so much while talking about his partner. “I think it surprised both of us though,” the 48-year-old reflected. “It wasn’t anything that was like, I don’t think, planned. We both was pretty much doing what we do.”
Nelly continued, “Sometimes being separate allows you to understand one another more. You can be like, ‘Yo, let me see exactly, maybe, what they see.’ We all can be defensive, sometimes, in our own relationships.” The “Hot In Herre” hitmaker didn’t specifically explain what past incidents he’s learned from, though it certainly sounds like he’s dedicated to seeing the truth from a higher perspective from here on out, rather than staying stuck rooted in always being right.
We’re definitely always happy to see former lovers taking steps towards reconciliation, but the content Ashanti’s fans really love when the singer posts is from her various vacations. The songbird has uploaded thirst traps from some of the globe’s most beautiful destinations in 2023 so far, recently modelling a green bikini for us. See those photos at the link below, and let us know what other former celebrity couples you hope to see reconcile in the comments.
Nelly will forever hold the throne for being the biggest rapper to come out of St. Louis. Thanks to him, a slew of talented artists from the city have been able to live out their dreams of making it in the music industry.
Insert NandoSTL, who’s the newest rising star to come out of the city. In fact, the singer, songwriter, and rapper is actually the first artist to drop a project under T-Pain’s label, Nappy Boy Entertainment. With such a big name backing him, it’s only right NandoSTL follows suit in living out the life of a superstar.
When it comes to his sound, NandoSTL compares himself to the likes of Smino, Chance The Rapper, CeeLo Green, and The Fugees. And with St. Louis being such a small town, he had to insert it as part of his name.
Now, NandoSTL taps fellow St. Louis native Nelly for his new single and visual titled “On Errythang.” Read below how the song came into fruition.
How did you and Nelly tap in?
I originally created this record for a different artist to be featured on. After I completed the record, I sent it to T-Pain and let him know I heard Nelly on it instead. He immediately reached out to Nelly in hopes of securing the feature. While that was being done, I desired to get to know Nelly for myself. I found out he was throwing a party at a hookah lounge in STL for 314 Day ( a STL holiday held on 3/14 in honor of the city’s area code). He was happy to see me and recognized me as soon as I introduced myself. From there, we developed a real friendship. We went bowling, and I pulled up to his studio a few times.
What did it mean to collab with him, especially both being from STL?
It meant the world. Nelly and the St. Lunatics paved the way for STL to make a mainstream mark in Hip-Hop. My grandmother who is now 81 years old, is not familiar with who the current trending celebrity is, BUT she definitely knows who Nelly is. If they were to ever cross paths, it would warm her heart to know she’d be able to say, “You know my Grandson” and he’d respond “yes I indeed do.”
It’s a dream come true being able to not just collaborate, but be called “nephew” by such an iconic figure.
What was the creative vision with the video?
I wanted it to feel relatable. The song is about feeling like no matter how good you are at something, people will always try to take credit or downplay your accomplishments. So that’s what I wanted the video to reflect, how no matter what, we make it look easy and keep a positive attitude. Of course, we had to represent for St.Louis to the fullest. This record was definitely a stamp of approval from my hometown.
Best memory from shooting?
After the video shoot, Nelly, T-Pain, my children and I (a few others were there as well) headed to the bowling alley. I watched my son Bowl with T-Pain and Nelly. I thought to myself, he has no idea how far from “normal” this is. That small moment validated all the work I’ve put in so far, and gave me the motivation I needed to go 100 times harder. I belong here…we belong here.
Compared to the majority of other young adults his age, 20-year-old NLE Choppa has accomplished a lot. The Memphis native has worked with the likes of Lil Wayne, 2Rare, Lil Baby, and Roddy Ricch so far, and only has his sights set on further rising his star within the music industry. Mid-way through the summer, Choppa began teasing a new track that finds him putting his spin on Nelly’s “Hot In Herre.” While “It’s Getting Hot” has gotten mixed reviews from listeners on the internet so far, the lyricist is feeling more confident than ever, according to one of his recent tweets.
“I’M THE GREATEST,” NLE declared on Monday (August 14) afternoon. “Y’ALL COUNTED ME OUT, NOW THEY LOST COUNT. I DO THIS TIME AND TIME AGAIN, HIT AFTER HIT, SONG AFTER SONG. DON’T PLAY WITH ME. [BETTER] NOT EVER TRY AGAIN, SHOW ‘EM MY STREAMS MAMAMMMMAAA #ItsGettingHot,” the Southern entertainer excitedly bragged. Of course, we have seen a number of Choppa’s songs go viral due to their catchy nature on platforms like TikTok, but there are still those trying to deny his success.
“Not to be dramatic when I say this but this might be the worst song of 2023,” one Twitter user dissed NLE’s work in late July. Rather than getting defensive or lashing out at his haters, the Cottonwood artist responded back with a string of “” emojis, making it clear that he finds humour in those attempting to tear him down. Even if not all listeners are feeling his new take on a classic, Nelly at least gave Choppa a shoutout on social media, cementing his all-important seal of approval.
No matter what the critics have to say about “It’s Getting Hot,” NLE Choppa continues to move forward with confidence.
