Tinashe Is Looking For Someone To Match Her ‘Nasty’ Energy On Her New Single

Tinashe is teasing the next chapter of BB/Ang3l. Earlier this week, the innovative LA native announced Quantam Baby the second installment of her BB/Ang3l series. Tonight (April 12), Tinashe shared “Nasty,” her pleasantly randy new single.

Over a punchy, futuristic beat, Tinashe lays down the law to unleash the super freak — the contender must match her energy.

“Is somebody gonna match my freak / Need somebody with a good technique? Is somebody gonna match my nasty? / Pillow talking got my throat raspy,” she rap-sings on the song’s opening verse.

“This is that all summer long kinda BOP! It’s meant to make you feel sexy, confident, let loose and maybe even unleash some of that sluttiness inside you,” said Tinashe of the song in a statement.” We all need a daily reminder that we are our own muses, here’s the inspiration to embrace it.”

As is expected with Tinashe, the accompanying visual for “Nasty” features next-level choreography as she and her equally talented dancers turn up the heat in the desert.

The song and video arrive ahead of Tinashe’s Coachella performances this weekend and next.

In the meantime, you can see the video for “Nasty” above.

Tinashe is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Chlöe Takes The Ladies On A Retreat Through The Desert In Her ‘Boy Bye’ Video

Chlöe’s rhythmic reign continues. Tonight (April 12), the stellar R&B act has shared her new single, “Boy Bye,” after teasing it for the past week.

When speaking of the song in a statement, Chlöe described “Boy Bye” as “an anthem for anyone who needs to get rid of someone toxic and draining from their life. It’s liberating and free.” Over an energetic, dance-ready beat, Chlöe has decided that she’s done putting up with a man’s sh*t. Unafraid to let go and start anew, she gives this man the ultimate kiss-off.

“I was always loyal, always takin’ the fall / When we were together you were never involved / If we bein’ honest, it was never my fault / You just gave a little while I gave you my all,” sings Chlöe on the song’s chorus.

In the accompanying video, Chlöe is seen emerging from a trailer, and she’s ready to hand it to a deceitful ex. After cussing him out, Chlöe embarks on a road trip with her girlfriends, letting go of all the pain and heartache. As she grows empowered, the video makes a surprising turn. But as the credits roll, we see who she does it all for — those persevering through a broken heart.

Drake Was Dropped From The Astroworld Lawsuits Ahead Of Trial In May

Drake has reportedly been dismissed from all Astroworld lawsuits, according to TMZ. The publication shared that the “First Person Shooter” hitmaker was granted a motion for summary judgment and as a result, all the claims against him were dismissed.

Court documents obtained by TMZ noted that a judge in Harris County, Texas heard the Astroworld-related arguments and chose to dismiss all claims against Drake with prejudice.

Drake had been previously named a defendant in some lawsuits related to the Astroworld Festival tragedy of 2021. Plaintiffs had reportedly alleged that Drake, who performed on stage at the festival as a guest of the founder and creator, rapper Travis Scott, helped incite the crushing frenzy, which resulted in several deaths and injuries.

Drake reportedly argued that him showing up as a guest of Scott shouldn’t be grounds for legal action. Evidently, he added that he shouldn’t be held responsible for any injuries or casualties, as he wasn’t involved with planning the festival.

Scott, along with Apple, also reportedly asked to be removed from the lawsuits, suggesting that safety measures were not his responsibility. However, a Harris County judge denied both Scott’s and Apple’s request.

The Astroworld trial is scheduled to begin in May.

Kash Doll Announces New Stage Name Amid Pregnancy & Comparisons

Kash Doll is undergoing some major changes these days, and has announced that a name change will be one of them. During a recent appearance on Way Up With Angela Yee, the performer revealed that she plans to rebrand. According to her, getting pregnant with her second child is what prompted her desire to change her stage moniker, as she’s now looking for something a bit more sophisticated. She also notes the various other “dolls” in the industry and the unavoidable comparisons that come along with her current name.

“I’m juggling between a few things,” she explained, revealing the title she was considering for her next album. “I was going to say The Last Doll, and it means so much, right? Like I think I’ma leave the ‘doll’ stuff alone. I think I’m going to give it to my child — hopefully it’s a girl. I’ma go ahead and pass that down.”

Kash Doll Reveals She’ll Now Go By Keisha

When asked what she plans to go by in the future, she responded with her birth name. “Keisha,” she said. “I’m a grown woman with two kids — I don’t want to be called a doll no more. And then it’s so many dolls. Shout out to them, y’know what I’m saying, but it’s like every time my name is brought up, it’s like, ‘Who’s the best doll?’” Of course, most commenters are in full support of the switch and would root for the artist regardless of what she went by. Others are sad to see her step away from the title and note that they’ll continue to call her what they know her as.

What do you think of Kash Doll revealing that she’s changing her stage name? Do you prefer Keisha over Kash Doll or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Concrete Boys “It’s Us Vol. 1” Review

Lil Yachty’s label and music collective Concrete Boys have finally released their long-awaited debut album, It’s Us Vol. 1. The project is the first major showing of each of the five group members, which include Lil Yachty himself alongside Camo, Karrahbooo, Dc2trill, and the very first Concrete Boys signee Draft Day. The album, which officially released on April 5, runs 16 tracks over 47 minutes and offers a wide array of posse cuts, solo tracks, and all kinds of blends and mixtures along the way. Let’s dive into the material on It’s Us Vol. 1 without further ado and review the project’s best and worst moments.

The Project Does Not Start With A Bang

It’s Us Vol. 1 opens with a laid-back intro by Camo, with a brief Lil Yachty appearance creeping into the final moments of the track. While the song “Point Me To It” is a solid track, it doesn’t bring the kind of hype or excitement we’d like to see in an album opener. The following Karrahbooo-fronted track, “Where Yo Daddy,” is equally sleepy, offering smooth vocal delivery over a low-energy instrumental. Neither of these tracks is a bad showing of Lil Yachty and his Concrete Boys affiliates. However, it seems clear that It’s Us Vol. 1 should have opened with a strong, high-energy posse cut, especially since the major appeal of this album is the shared star power of Yachty’s multiple protégés.

The third track, “Dialed In,” brings the banging energy required to invigorate listeners as Camo and Draft Day trade bars back and forth with expert precision, showcasing their excellent lyrical chemistry. All this takes place over a thumping, room-shaking sub bass and cowbell-heavy drums, making the track the project’s first real banger. Subsequent titles such as “Playa Walkin,” “Not Da 2,” and “Hit Diff” offer different Concrete Boys pairings, highlighting the blending sounds and combined charisma of the many budding solo artists alongside Lil Yachty himself.

Yachty Takes Center Stage On The Album

While it should come as no surprise that Lil Yachty is the major superstar of It’s Us Vol. 1, it is shocking that the talented young MC has so many solo placements among this tracklist. The first solo cut from Lil Yachty is “LA Reid,” which is sonically great but provides little to no justification for being present on the Concrete Boys project. If the track had been released as a single, perhaps it could have drawn additional eyes to the ensemble project, similar to J. Cole’s placing of “Middle Child” on 2019’s Revenge of the Dreamers 3. Instead, the song serves to grind the album’s momentum to a halt, and diverts fans toward other Yachty solo projects instead.

The same cannot be said for the following two Lil Yachty solo tracks, “M.O.B.” and “Pimpin Ain’t Easy,” which each earn their place on the Concrete Boys album by shouting out and name-checking other members of the crew. The former track sees Yachty floating over smooth piano jabs that provide a sparse, soothing melody, making it a perfect song to blast out the windows of your whip on a sunny day. The latter, “Pimpin Ain’t Easy,” is an R&B style crooner who sees the Quality Control signee reflecting on his blessings, including the important women in his life, and celebrating his ability to hold it down as the de-facto leader of the crew.

The Posse Cuts Are The Biggest High-Points

Unsurprisingly, the best moments on It’s Us Vol. 1 are the rare instances of all 5 MC’s forming like Voltron to tackle a long-form cypher. The first proper posse cut on the record comes in the form of a double-jointed track titled “2 Hands 2 Eyes 10 Whips/Rent Due.” This song features Lil Yachty giving it his all alongside all four of his Concrete Boys collaborators, with multiple stand-out moments. Yachty’s chilled-out delivery of the hook in the first leg transitions smoothly into a beat switch, bringing Karrahbooo into the mix with her most energetic showing on the album. Draft Day’s raspy vocal tenors provide some much-needed sonic diversity to the track before Dc2trill concludes the two-hander by tying the subject matter of the tracks together with a smooth reprisal of the “two hands, two eyes” refrain.

“On the Radar Concrete Cypher” is another high watermark for the album, as the entire crew locks in with explosive deliveries, including Camo’s best verse on the project. His lyrics, “Concrete diamonds, lay our chains on the ground and make a skating rink / My mans will slap a n**** at the award show like I’m Jada Pink,” are as hilarious as they are memorable, and are a real contender for best bars of 2024 thus far. The sparse horn section bolstering the instrumental on this track provides great room for the team to lock in with some of their best work yet. Other highlights on the album include the Dc2trill solo song “My Life,” which was released ahead of the project as a single. The track has handily the best beat on the entire project, making it a real shame that the run-time lasts just under two full minutes.

Conclusion

It’s Us Vol. 1 succeeds at its stated goal by showcasing each of the members of Lil Yachty’s Concrete Boys crew but doesn’t succeed at much else. The album is a great introduction to these artists for those who may not know them, but it never really provides any long-lasting intrigue. While the album likely won’t be revisited by hip hop historians 5 or 10 years down the line, it serves as a great foundation for flashier installments to come later on. After all, isn’t that what concrete is all about?

Ye Makes Substantial Cuts To Asking Price For Stripped-Down Mansion

Earlier this year, Ye, formerly Kanye West, listed his Malibu mansion for sale. The property plays an interesting role in his past few years. He famously stripped the mansion down of almost everything you’d typically need to live in it. What’s left has no glass or electricity and is missing multiple walls and a roof. The property has unsurprisingly fallen victim to the physical deterioration of being left outside and stands out quite drastically from the surrounding beach front properties.

Back in January, West listed the unique property for sale. It was originally listed for a staggering $53 million price tag. While the location is ideal the home itself would likely take millions in renovations for anyone to ever live in it again. The four bedroom five bathroom home unsurprisingly didn’t sell and West has just made a significant price cut to the listing. According to TMZ it’s now for sale for a full $14 million less than the original asking price, sitting at $39 million. Check out some of the newest pictures of the home below.

Ye Makes A Substantial Price Drop To Malibu Home

Earlier today a new photo of Ye with Yung Lean and Rich The Kid hit the internet. Fans are hoping he’s hard at work on VULTURES 2 the second of three volumes he promised to drop this year. Rich The Kid contributes a feature to the hit song “CARNIVAL” from VULTURES 1. The track reached number one earlier this year and has been one of the biggest hits of 2024 so far.

The album is now more than a month past it’s originally announced release date. Ye and Ty Dolla $ign also had to cancel a previously announced listening party recently. The delays have only further contributed to fan frustration around the controversial rapper’s output. What do you think of Kanye West dropping the price of his mansion by $14 million? Do you think the mansion will ever sell in its current condition? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rest In Peace Mister Cee: Remembering The DJ’s Indelible Hip-Hop Legacy

On Wednesday (April 10), 94.7 The Block on WXBK played a recording of Mister Cee’s 2022 mix tributing Biggie Smalls on what would’ve been the late rapper’s 50th birthday. “Sky’s The Limit” rang with a different tone amid news that the legendary radio DJ and historic hip-hop cultural contributor, real name Calvin LeBrun, had passed away at the age of 57 due to unknown causes at press time. Also known as The Finisher or The Wallop King, Cee was an instrumental figure in rap from the late 1980s onward. Upon news of his tragic loss, DJ Premier, 50 Cent, DJ Jazzy Jeff, MC Lyte, Peter Rosenberg, Queen Latifah, and many more shared their heartfelt condolences.

Mister Cee is one of the greatest DJs in the history of New York hip-hop, known for over two decades of being one of many figures who made Hot 97 a juggernaut. From Brooklyn’s public-access station 91.5 WNYE to WBLS and his acclaimed mixtapes, he stands as one of the genre’s great tastemakers. The depth of the Brooklyn native’s knowledge, love, and passion for the culture extended not just to his ’80s and ’90s roots, but also to more contemporary talents. While figures like him might be harder to come by with each passing change of the media guard, his hard work is a testament to the power of hip-hop culture and a beacon for any fan, participant, benefactor, or spectator of it.

Mister Cee’s Beginnings: Big Daddy Kane & Hot 97

Calvin LeBrun’s hip-hop story begins as a young Bed-Stuy lad inspired by the World Famous Supreme Team and his late uncle’s crew, DJ Knight and the Knights of Hollywood, to make it in the radio space. His first big break was becoming the DJ of his high school friend Big Daddy Kane in the late 1980s, one of the most significant lyricists of his (and all) time. Mister Cee and his scratches appeared on Kane’s “Mister Cee’s Master Plan” off his 1988 debut, and he nabbed various other credits on the MC’s subsequent albums.

He was also a part of the legendary Juice Crew in the late 1980s alongside Mr. Magic, Roxanne Shante, Kool G Rap, and many more titans whose reverberations are still felt today. Throughout all this, Mister Cee’s popularity as a radio DJ and personality grew exponentially. His shows on Hot 97 and WBLS beginning around 1993 (Throwback at Noon and Friday Night Live) focused on putting on rising artists and playing hip-hop and R&B classics. Even though The Finisher had already etched his name into the history books, an even greater opportunity arrived through a childhood friend.

The Finisher Helps Put Biggie Smalls On The Map

DJ 50 Grand introduced Mister Cee to a young Biggie Smalls in the early 1990s, and they all re-recorded The Notorious B.I.G.’s demo to get his name out there. Their dreams manifested, as this led to Big’s Bad Boy Records deal and widespread recognition. Cee even got an associate executive producer credit on Biggie’s massive debut album, 1994’s Ready To Die. However, in a November 2023 interview with Rock The Bells, he remembered his Best Of Biggie Smalls mixtape from 1995 as the project that “changed [his] life.” The Wallop King was revered for his 120-minute mixtapes as opposed to 60 or 90-minute material. These were characterized by a non-stop approach to the music that was largely uninterrupted by DJ drops, sounds effects, or run-it-backs.

Mister Cee also joined Funkmaster Flex’s Flip Squad collective of New York DJs, and both got a lyrical shoutout from none other than Jay-Z on his 2009 single “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).” According to Hot 97, he also helped folks like 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, and Hov himself find the audiences that would lead them to massive success. But after Biggie passed away in 1997, LeBrun knew that he could do more than uplift stars on the come-up. He began paying tribute to hip-hop’s fallen legends on his shows as well, a heartening tradition that he maintained up until his passing.

The Wallop King’s Later Years

In 2014, Mister Cee officially left Hot 97 due to differing from its new musical direction. This followed issues surrounding his arrests for prostitution soliciting and controversy stemming from his publicly revealed attraction to transgender women. While this situation was hotly debated at the time, it opened up a larger conversation around homophobia in hip-hop that, although incomplete, has led to significantly progressive strides to combat it. But that doesn’t mean that his hard work ever dwindled or became overshadowed. For example, LeBrun introduced the world to Fetty Wap with his future hit “Trap Queen” in 2014 on Hot 97.

The media industry also celebrated Mister Cee with much respect and adoration, such as his guest appearance in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV as a radio DJ. After leaving Hot 97, he continued to do radio shows, such as WXBX’s aforementioned The Block on 94.7 for throwback classics from hip-hop and R&B, and he posted his mixes online. Cee’s final slot on air was The Set It Off Show on SiriusXM’s Rock The Bells Radio. Testimonies of his greatness, like those from Capitol Records promoter Chris Green, identify him as “the glue between the old and the new” across his many programs. For the indelible seeds he planted and his staunchly good-natured approach to media and hip-hop culture, there is no more fitting or deserved title. Rest In Peace Mister Cee.
