Joe Budden’s Girlfriend Responds To Recent Abuse Allegations Made By Tahiry Jose

Earlier this week, Joe Budden found himself at the center of some pretty nasty allegations. One of his exes Tahiry Jose leveled some serious claims about the former rapper and current podcast host’s behavior. She chimed in while Budden was discussing the leaked video of Diddy allegedly abusing Cassie. Jose claimed that the video was traumatic for her to watch as Budden has similarly physically abused her. Specifically she claims he threw her down a flight of stairs. Budden hit back against the allegations quickly saying “You are a lying, failed gold digger that has abused, targeted and manipulated many men. Outside of me you lack an identity which is why you’ve tried desperately to attach yourself to me for over 15 years.”

Now Budden’s current girlfriend Shadee Monique is chiming in with an Instagram comment of her own. Moreso than the allegations themselves, she’s responding to fans. Apparently she was tagged in quite a few comments where fans assumed she was subject to similar abuse. She refutes those claims by assuring everyone that she has never been abused in five years of being with Budden. She also clarifies that she doesn’t want to deny or speak over anyone else’s experiences and is merely sharing her own perspective. Check out her full statement below.

Joe Budden’s Girlfriend Says She’s Never Been Abused

The abuse allegations came up in the first place because Budden was discussing Diddy. Many in the rap world have been in the wake of a video that leaked over the weekend. The video is hotel security camera footage that shows Diddy allegedly abusing Cassie, something he apologized for in a video of his own released a few days after the leaked clip.

What do you think of Joe Budden’s girlfriend clarifying that she doesn’t want to deny anyone’s story, but she has never experienced abuse while dating him? Do you think Budden is telling the truth about Jose being nothing but a failed gold digger? Let us know in the comment section below.

Apple Music Reveals Top 10 Albums On 100 Best List: A Breakdown

Over the past few days, Apple Music unveiled its definitive ranking of the best 100 albums of all time. From groundbreaking debuts to timeless classics, the ranking reflects the diverse sonic landscape that has captivated listeners over the years. As the digital age continues to shape the way we experience music, these albums stand out as cultural touchstones that capture the essence of their respective eras.

While all 100 albums on this list are musical triumphs, Apple Music has been under fire for their selections, especially as the R&B genre was greatly excluded. Moreover, the rankings have also fueled claims of Apple Music pandering to fanbases, instead of respecting art. More importantly, a good number of listeners have criticized the list for “robbing” deserving artists and projects. Nonetheless, here’s a look at the top 10 albums on Apple Music’s top 100 Albums list.

10. Lemonade (2016) – Beyoncé

When Beyoncé released her triumphant sixth studio album in 2016, listeners immediately recognized that it was a seminal work. Since its release, Lemonade has been repeatedly recognized as one of the most important albums of this generation. Without a doubt, it is also among the most important albums in Beyoncé’s entire discography that details anger and forgiveness. It is no surprise that this album made it this high on Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list.

9. Nevermind (1991) – Nirvana

With its raw, unapologetic energy, and the late Kurt Cobain’s deeply emotive songwriting, Nevermind catapulted grunge into the mainstream. Since its release in the early ‘90s, the album has been regarded as a monumental addition to the musical landscape. When Apple Music first began unveiling the best 100 albums, fans knew Nevermind would make the list. It was only a matter of when it would show up, and certainly, fans would have been displeased with anything below the top 10.

8. Back To Black (2006) – Amy Winehouse

Although it’s been over a decade since Amy Winehouse sadly passed away, she lives on through her music. Back To Black is a monumental album, and will continue to be discussed for years to come. The soul-stirring masterpiece redefined contemporary music with its deeply personal lyrics and retro sound. With records like its title track, and the Grammy Award-winning “Rehab,” it’s no wonder this album has the reputation it does. It certainly earned its place on the Apple Music Best 100 Albums list.

7. good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012) – Kendrick Lamar

Since he released his debut album in 2011, Kendrick Lamar has constantly evolved with each new release. Each project in his discography stands out in its own way, and they are all strong entries. However, good kid, m.A.A.d city, his sophomore studio album, is arguably the rapper’s most impressive project yet. When it dropped in 2012, it shifted the Hip-Hop industry, and Lamar himself. Since then, he has firmly situated himself in the annals of Hip Hop industry. The rapper is now regarded as one of the best MCs of all time, and with an album such as this, rightly so.

6. Songs In The Key Of Life (1976) – Stevie Wonder

Another monumental achievement in music, this phenomenal double album was released on September 26, 1976. Stevie Wonder is a musical genius, and this body of work effectively captures the essence of that genius. It blends R&B, soul, jazz, funk, and pop with intricate melodies and innovative arrangements. Tracks like “Sir Duke,” “I Wish,” and “Isn’t She Lovely” are a few standout classics that showcase Wonder’s unparalleled talent. Over the years, this album has remained widely respected and beloved. It is an evergreen project, so it makes sense for it to rank so highly on the Apple Music Best 100 Albums list, although many believe it should be higher.

5. Blonde (2016) – Frank Ocean

Nobody knows if Frank Ocean foresaw how groundbreaking this album would become before he dropped it. On Blonde, the singer seems to do everything right, in his own authentic way. This album redefined the boundaries of contemporary music, with its innovative soundscapes and introspective lyrics. As a result, it is widely celebrated for its ethereal production and genre-blending style. Ocean’s emotive and nuanced vocal delivery makes each track an experience for the listener. He is incredibly vulnerable as he invites us into his world and takes us on a peculiar sonic journey. Blonde is the highest-ranked album from the 21st century on the Apple Music Best 100 Albums list, which has garnered criticism.

4. Purple Rain (1984) – Prince & The Revolution

This iconic album stands as a testament to Prince’s extraordinary talent and visionary artistry. Released in 1984, Purple Rain blends rock, pop, R&B, and funk, creating a unique and electrifying sound that captivated audiences worldwide. Four decades after its release, the eclectic album continues to awe listeners old and new. The title track, in particular, with its soaring guitar solos and emotional depth, has become an unforgettable anthem. Purple Rain remains a timeless classic, and that will not change anytime soon.

3. Abbey Road (1969) – The Beatles

Another undisputed classic, The Beatles’ Abbey Road is the oldest album on the top 10 of the Apple Music Best 100 Albums list. Released in 1969, this album features some of the group’s most beloved and enduring tracks, including “Come Together” and “Here Comes The Sun.” Without a doubt, The Beatles have had a profound impact on the music world. Abbey Road is one of the most influential bodies of work in their extensive catalog. Fans and critics alike expected the band to make an appearance somewhere on top of this list. Being recognized as the third-best album of all time certainly isn’t bad at all.

2. Thriller – Michael Jackson

When Apple Music first revealed that it would be ranking the best 100 albums of all time, music fans knew Thriller would make an appearance. As a matter of fact, many believed the pioneering album would top the list. However, it missed the top spot by a mark, and sits pretty at number two. This unparalleled masterpiece of an album redefined the landscape of pop music and solidified Jackson’s status as the King of Pop. Hit singles like “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” and the title track, set new standards for music videos and pop culture. Thriller’s place on this list is undebatable.

1. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998) – Lauryn Hill

As far as classic albums go, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is as evergreen as it gets. This extraordinary album transcends the boundaries of Hip Hop and R&B. Currently Ms. Hill’s sole album, it is widely regarded as one of the greatest solo debut albums of all time. It showcases the artist’s extensive talent as a singer, rapper, and songwriter. The record-breaking album has achieved universal acclaim, and rightly so. It continues to inspire and empower audiences, serving as a testament to Hill’s undying legacy as a trailblazing icon.

Sean Kingston’s Home Gets Raided, His Mother Arrested Amid Alleged Fraud Investigation

Today, Sean Kingston’s Florida mansion was reportedly raided by authorities in connection to a lawsuit. The suit was filed in February of this year by Ver Ver Entertainment LLC. They accuse the performer of breach of contract as well as fraud. Allegedly, he reached out to the company last year to buy an entertainment system, which was reportedly worth roughly $150K. To lower the price, Kingston allegedly agreed to promote the product in a video with Justin Bieber but never followed through with his end of the deal.

“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman,” attorney Dennis Card claims. “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches that are in there, there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organized systematic fraud.”

Sean Kingston Accused Of Scamming Ver Ver Entertainment LLC

At the time of writing it’s unclear whether or not Kingston was home during the raid, though his 61-year-old mother Janice Turner was. She was taken into custody at the scene on various charges of fraud and theft. The company suing Kingston believes the musician didn’t “have any intention” of making a promotional video for their product. “He’s 100 percent a scammer, he’s on felony probation right now for trafficking in stolen property, he’s got judgments against him for procuring more than $1 million in watches without paying for them,” Card alleges. “This is just an ongoing pattern for Sean.”

What do you think of Sean Kingston’s home getting raided by authorities this morning because he allegedly failed to pay for a $150K entertainment system? What about his mother being taken into custody on various charges? Are you surprised or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

NBA Youngboy’s Resurfaced Childhood Picture Has Fans Cracking Jokes

NBA Youngboy has had a turbulent year so far. His legal trouble in years past has seen him stuck in house arrest in Utah, though the period has allowed him to release music quite prolifically. Earlier this year he dropped the compilation tape Compliments Of Gravedigger Mountain which showed off some of the talents he’s signed to his label. That came after he released an astonishing four entire albums across just 12 months in 2023.

That was all disrupted last month when he was arrested and hit with numerous charges. Initial charges included possession of dangerous weapons and illegal substances as well as various accusations of fraud. Those were expanded on a few days later when he was hit with more charges. The second batch were allegedly related to a prescription drug scheme the rapper is accused of participating in. In total there were 63 different charges he was hit with. Given his history of legal trouble and the sheer volume of new charges he’s facing things could go south for Youngboy quickly. But none of that has stopped the typical cycles of virality from continuing in his absence.

Gunna Shows Out During Work Out With Bol Bol At The Phoenix Suns Facility

Gunna released One Of Wun, his most recent endeavor, a few weeks ago. Fans are adoring the album, which has already produced a few viral hits. Sales obviously show that Gunna’s music is now having an impact on listeners. In its first week of sales, one of Wun officially sold 91K units. Gunna is definitely doing his thing, especially when it comes to his physical fitness. The rapper has made waves on social media for his body transformation. Now, he has recently been seen working out with NBA player Bol Bol at the Phoenix Sun’s facility.

Following his release from jail in 2022, Gunna said how he shed up to “30-40 pounds” and how he’s still maintaining his weight. He discussed his body in an open interview that was released by XXL. “Less eating. Especially when I went to jail. I lost a lot of weight. Just like, cleansing. Detoxing. And when I got home, I started working out and just keeping it fit. And now, I’m on a year straight of all working out,” he said. Now he is fit enough to keep up with professional athletes, apparently. His workout with Bol Bol looked intense.

Gunna became serious about his physical fitness. He said in the interview with XXL, “Yes. I got a trainer and work out six days a week. I eat better and I eat clean. And that’s something I’m disciplining myself to do every day. It’s something that I’m liking, though. I feel better when I work out.” He is going all out, and it’s probably helping him musically as well, allowing for better physical performance on stage. In the workout with Bol Bol, we see Gunna go through some explosive workouts as he is training like a real athlete.

Gunna is riding the wave of his new successful album. He is also featured on Tyla’s Jump song and recently shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the video shoot. Will we see Gunna on an NBA court anytime soon? Of course not. Nevertheless, it’s cool seeing him work out with professional hoopers like Bol Bol. Overall, Gunna is serious about working out, and we love to see it.

Yasiin Bey’s Freestyle Over ‘Like That’ Has Fans Thinking He Dissed Drake, Kendrick Lamar, And J. Cole

During a recent livestream on Instagram, the rapper now known as Yasiin Bey appeared to take shots at some participants in a recent rap beef as he freestyled over one of the songs they battled with. Over the instrumental from Metro Boomin’s “Like That” beat, Bey raps, “Greedy, seedy, and creepy/ Corny, horny, and boring/ Bougie, goofy, and moody/ Foolish, ruthless, and clueless/ Variations on a petty Big 3/ A whole lot to look at, but not much to see.”

The mention of the Big 3 has fans thinking the verse is a disappointed reference to Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, after repeated mentions of their grouping as a unit on records wound up touching off the battle between them. It was on “Like That” that Kendrick first yelled “motherf*ck the Big 3,” sparking the conflict between them. After J. Cole dropped out of the feud for personal reasons, Drake and Kendrick’s back-and-forth became increasingly noxious to the point that even the fans who egged them on quickly became disgusted with the vitriolic rhetoric.

It probably shouldn’t surprise anyone that Bey was equally disgusted with the beef. Back in 2003, the April 9 episode of Chappelle’s Show featured musical guests Yasiin Bey (then known as Mos Def) and Talib Kweli — collectively known as Black Star. The two Brooklyn rappers performed a new song called “What’s Beef.”

Over the course of his verse, Bey decried various high profile rap beefs, contrasting them with more dire current events. He even name-checked the conflict in Gaza, which goes to show how long people have effectively ignored what Bey would consider “real” beef in favor of WWF-style rap antics. “Beef is not what Jay said to Nas,” he said. “Beef is when working folks can’t find jobs / So they try to find n****s to rob / Try to find bigger guns so they can finish the job.” Bey later released a solo version on a mixtape, Mos Definite .

20 years later, it seems his opinions about rap beef he expressed in that verse haven’t changed, even though his name has.

Uproxx Music 20: Shae Universe’s ‘Love’s Letters’ Is An Excellent Personification Of Romance

Shae Universe Uproxx Music 20 image
Karis Beaumont/Merle Cooper

One of this year’s best R&B albums came from Nigerian born British singer Shae Universe with her second project Love’s Letter. Released back in February, the 10-track project is a beautiful display of what love looks and feels like in its purest form. At its conclusion, listeners are left with no doubt about Shae Universe’s full and thorough approach to love. She free falls into optimism when the door for romance opens and she yearns for more when that door suddenly closes.

Love’s Letter is birthed from the classic, tender ballads that R&B greats like India.Arie, Lauryn Hill, and Brandy delivered in their careers. These are artists that Shae Universe is heavily influenced by, and the influenced gained through listens of Brandy, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, and Acoustic Soul are undeniable on Love’s Letter. Still, Shae makes the project her own to deliver something that is nostalgic yet up-to-date and refreshing in today’s R&B landscape.

Months removed from the arrival of Love’s Letter and ahead of more music on the way, we put Shae Universe under the Uproxx Music 20 to learn more about her inspirations, influences, aspirations, and more.

See Previous UPROXX MUSIC 20 Interviews:

What is your earliest memory of music?

My earliest memory of music was hearing Nigerian praise & worship music around my house around 4 years old.

Who inspired you to take music seriously?

My community and supporters.

Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which one? If not, which instrument do you want to learn how to play?

Unfortunately, I don’t. I used to take piano lessons for a period of time in my teens but I wasn’t interested in it enough to keep it up at the time, I definitely regret that.

What was your first job?

Working in a retail shop called River Island.

What is your most prized possession?

My faith in God.

What is your biggest fear?

It’s a secret.

Who is on your R&B Mt. Rushmore?

Brandy, D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, and Usher.

You get 24 hours to yourself to do anything you want, with unlimited resources: What are you doing? And spare no details!

I’ve been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to think of all the things I’d do. I’m too much of a Gemini for this question lmao. You gotta just put me in the situation and let me be spontaneous.

What are your three most used emojis?

🥺🥰♥

What’s a feature you need to secure before you die?

Brandy!

If you could appear in a future season of a current TV show, which one would it be and why?

Issa Rae’s Insecure purely because that show is genius and I love it.

Which celebrity do you admire or respect for their personality, and why?

Tems. I love how she’s humorous and humble but effortlessly assertive. I also respect how she’s protected her privacy amidst her superstardom.

Share your opinion on something no one could ever change your mind about.

God is real and our existence is spiritual before it’s physical.

What is the best song you’ve ever heard in your life, and what do you love about it?

There’s too many, however “Borderline” by Brandy is up there. I love the unconventional groove of the song and her pen was crazy, as usual! I also love “Nothing Even Matters” by Lauryn Hill & D’Angelo and “Message In A Bottle” by Ty Dolla Sign.

What’s your favorite city in the world to perform, and what’s a city you’re excited to perform in for the first time?

I haven’t been to enough places yet to decide that one yet, but so far it’s been Austin, Texas. I’m also super excited to perform in Brazil for the first time.

You are throwing a music festival. Give us the dream lineup of 5 artists that will perform with you and the location where it would be held.

It would have to be held in Houston, Texas and I’d have an all-female line-up consisting of Tems, Jazmine Sullivan, Brandy, Tiwa Savage and Lauryn Hill.

What would you be doing now if it weren’t for music?

I’d probably be an Olympic athlete running the 110m hurdles.

If you could see five years into the future or go five years into the past, which one would you pick and why?

Five years into the future, for sure. I’d love to feel the comfort of seeing how happy and stable my future self is, seeing how abundant and seamless life will be. That image would be a constant encouraging reminder to keep me going in present moments when I feel discouraged.

What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?

I’d tell her there’s no need to be so self-conscious. I’d tell her she’s beautiful and a natural-born leader, then I’d hug her.

It’s 2050. The world hasn’t ended, and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?

I’d love for my music to be remembered as being timeless and bringing about healing. I hope it’s described as a sound that never goes “out of fashion” with lyrics that penetrate every time that make a long-lasting, healing impact.

Love’s Letter is out now. Find out more information here.

Why Is The Justice Department Suing Ticketmaster And Live Nation?

ticketmaster

As hinted at last month, the US Department Of Justice has officially filed an antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, according to the Associated Press. The lawsuit has been a long time coming; while the suit was rumored to be in the works in April, Ticketmaster and Live Nation were subject to Congressional hearings last year (producing some groan worthy Taylor Swift puns) and the DOJ had been investigating them since late 2022.

Why Is The Justice Department Suing Ticketmaster And Live Nation?

In a statement, Attorney General Merrick Garland explained why the DOJ has filed the suit. “We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators,” he wrote. “The result is that fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services. It is time to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster.”

According to the suit, among Ticketmaster’s illegal practices are tactics like using long-term contracts to keep venues from choosing other ticketing companies, blocking venues from using multiple ticket sellers, and threatening venues into choosing Ticketmaster by withholding Live Nation artists from performing there. This allegedly gives Ticketmaster and Live Nation an effective monopoly, with the resulting lack of competition allowing them to set prices and fee structures as high as they want.

Misa Hylton Alludes To Giving Diddy “Grace” After Calling Cassie Assault Footage Triggering

Last week, footage of Diddy seemingly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie at a hotel in 2016 surfaced online. Almost immediately, it went viral. The disturbing footage prompted responses from countless social media users and peers, who have since denounced the Bad Boy Records founder. The newly surfaced footage also led the internet to take a closer look at some of his past relationships, including those with Kim Porter and Misa Hylton.

Earlier this week, Hylton broke her silence on the upsetting video, describing the empathy she has for Cassie. “I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her,” she captioned an Instagram carousel of Diddy’s children. “I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma.”

Misa Hylton Shares Quote Amid Diddy’s Security Footage Scandal

At the time, she went on to claim that Diddy “needs help,” and said she was “praying that he truly does the personal work and receives it.” Now, she’s shared a meaningful quote that may pertain to her past experiences with Diddy on her IG Story. “When you finally learn that a person’s behavior has more to do with their own internal struggle than you, you learn grace,” the quote reads.

The Neighborhood Talk shared her post on Instagram, prompting a serious debate in the comments section. While some social media users are praising her, others argue that Diddy doesn’t deserve grace, though she didn’t actually confirm that the quote pertains to him. With that being said, the quote was shared immediately after she reposted her response to the assault footage, suggesting he was likely who she was referring to. What do you think of Misa Hylton’s reaction to the footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016? What about her latest message about learning “grace”? If I do a song, I’m gonna just f—ing drop it.”

She subsequently dropped the singles: “Enough (Miami)” and “Like What (Freestyle).” This further fueled speculation about the album’s imminent release. “Enough(Miami)” would go on to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.  Additionally, the music video for “Like What,” directed by Offset, teased fans with the message: “this is just the beginning… stay tuned.”

Q2 2024: Cardi Vs. Atlantic Records

April 6, 2024 marked the sixth anniversary of Invasion Of Privacy. Much to the delight of her fans, Cardi B confirmed via Instagram Story that her sophomore album will be released in 2024. She also expressed her excitement for the project. Since the news dropped, she began to engage with her fans on social media platforms especially X (Twitter), sharing updates and snippets of her work. However, on May 14th, she announced her decision to make a change of plans in a series of exchanges with some fans online.

After getting called out for the buildup over the years, Cardi revealed that the album would not be released in 2024 as she stated earlier. Instead, she announced that she was opting to focus on her well-being and other commitments. “anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year,” she tweeted. “Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.” This decision to delay the album’s release was met with equal parts disappointment and understanding from her fans.

On May 16, just two days later, the narrative changed once again. Despite Cardi B’s previous statements, her label, Atlantic Records, jokingly teased that the album is still set to drop before the end of the year. “Cardi B’s upcoming album is one of the most anticipated this year. We can’t wait to put it out, even if we have to sneak into her studio and take it!” Now it’s just a matter of time before we know who to believe.
