The summer is right around the corner, so don’t forget our new Fire Emoji playlist update to catch you up with the best hip-hop releases of the week before June rolls around. One album we’ll surely be playing all season is the new Vince Staples album Dark Times, on which “Étouffée” is an easy and bouncy highlight amid a lot of lyrical depth and blunt storytelling. Speaking of projects, Sexyy Red also came through with a collection of tracks, In Sexyy We Trust, and you’ve probably already heard of the “BBL Drizzy”-assisted cut “U My Everything” with Drake. Lastly on the LP side of things, “Ice Storm” featuring Smino is definitely a highlight on the new Sango album, North Vol. 2.

Elsewhere on Fire Emoji, we have some killer singles to go over, whether it’s from rising stars or established commercial titans. For a mix of the two, we’d look no further this week than “Grippy,” the new Cash Cobain cut with a solid albeit divisive J. Cole feature. On the other hand, Quavo came through with another 2024 cut with “Clear The Smoke,” which is as confident and boisterous as the title suggests. Along a similar vein, YG’s newest single “Weird” sees him rapping with a lot of assurance and charisma about the weirdness of the rap game.

HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist: Stream

Rolling further along, we have yet another Cash Cobain appearance on Fire Emoji this week thanks to his feature alongside Charlie Wilson on Don Toliver’s “Attitude.” It follows a similar drill and Jersey-influenced woozy sonic pallet that Cobain’s been so consistent and prolific with over the past couple of years. But this new playlist update also leaves room for family matters (no, not that one… that was a few weeks ago), such as Big Hit, Hit-Boy, The Alchemist and Hitgirl LENA’s “Gank Move.” It’s a nice contrast between gritty drum timbres and watery backing chords, and is likely one of the week’s best lyrical offerings.

Rick Ross Responds To 50 Cent’s Latest Troll Bringing Up His Controversial Lyrics

Rick Ross and 50 Cent have a pretty long beef history, and the two rap moguls are never above sending shots each other’s way. However, the latter’s most recent attack against the former roped in some other folks, namely Diddy, R. Kelly, and Jeffrey Epstein. Moreover, Fif posted artwork of the three to his social media with a very particular song in the background: “U.O.E.N.O.” On that track, Rozay spit some lyrics about spiking a woman’s champagne with molly and having nonconsensual intercourse with her, which obviously got him in some hot water. “You know some times I think people are just stupid, why would you say this in song?” the post’s caption read. “I DRUGGED HER A**, AND I R***D HER A**, AND SHE AINT EVEN KNOW IT !”

Well, it looks like Rick Ross thinks that 50 Cent is more worthwhile game than The Game’s diss track against him, as he came through with a response while still failing to respond on wax to the Los Angeles rapper. “This was a Lyric, Daphne joy accused/says you sodomized and r***d her as you held her down in front of your son [facepalm emoji] Curtis [shocked face emoji] @50cent,” he responded to 50 in the comments section of his Instagram post.

Rick Ross’ Response To 50 Cent

For those unaware, Rick Ross specifically referred to Daphne Joy’s recent claims against 50 Cent alleging this behavior, which he’s staunchly denied engaging in at all. As such, it looks like either side of the beef aisle here is dealing with some heavy accusations that are actively scarring their public-facing character. Of course, Fif’s taken this all much more lightly than even Diddy himself, who’s stayed pretty mute on the whole thing unless a response is completely warranted. Sadly, this opportunity presented itself in a very ugly way recently.

Diddy recently had to address surveillance footage that exposes him physically assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway. 50 Cent was one of many to react to this, and has extended his animosity for the Bad Boy executive to other beefs in his life like Rick Ross. They’re very much playing with “us versus them” narratives either way. Maybe they should jab at each other over pretty much anything else other than real, deep, and damning alleged crimes.

Metro Boomin Tied With Taylor Swift For Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries In 2024

Metro Boomin and Taylor Swift have been two commercial juggernauts in 2024, with the two WE [STILL] DON’T TRUST YOU collab albums with Future and The Tortured Poets Department, respectively, dominating the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, news broke over the weekend that both artists tied for the most entries on this chart this year, with 35 placements for each. It’s unclear where Fewtch stands in all this, as many of Metro’s charters are his, as well. Regardless, it’s a very curious and impressive accolade for both artists, one a singer-songwriter and the other a producer, to share.

Furthermore, Metro Boomin might not let up for the year when it comes to his chart dominance, as he recently teased his work on The Weeknd’s next album. Of course, we don’t know exactly when that follow up to Dawn FM will hit, so don’t get your hopes up too much for a 2024 release from Abel Tesfaye. However, the fact that he’s working with the St. Louis beatsmith again is very exciting, if only considering their status and acclaim as musicians out of context. Add on top of that their many amazing collaborations in the past, and you have a recipe that seems suited for little else other than grand success.

Elsewhere, Metro Boomin is also giving back to the communities that raised him, making significant donations to women-centered nonprofits in St. Louis. “I’ve seen firsthand the work that goes into being a single mother,” he stated, referring to his late mother. “Mine was my inspiration and my hero. It’s very important to me to pay it forward, because I see the same resilience and dedication in the women these organizations work with.”

Meanwhile, there is probably going to be a lot more Metro Boomin this year regardless of whether he drops something else or not. After all, “BBL Drizzy” still has folks in a relative catchy chokehold, especially now that Drake himself chose to hop on it. While that whole beef might not dominate the second half of 2024 as it did the first, there will surely still be some interesting developments to come from it. If nothing else, Taylor Swift and Metro definitely deserve their flowers for what they already accomplished this year.

Lil Baby Hilariously Attempts The British Accent Challenge: Watch

Lil Baby has been dealing with quite a lot over the last few weeks. The Atlanta, Georgia rapper most recently had a music video shoot go south in a hurry after gunshots were fired during production. It is still a developing storyline, as the number and name(s) of the suspect(s) are yet to be determined. What we do know is that three men which had no ties to Lil Baby suffered injuries. They are all being taken care off and should recover. Additionally, the rapper and his accompanying filming crew all were unscathed. In less serious news, he is also still beefing with Gunna, as they have been rumored to be sending subliminal shots at one another on recent tracks.

However, things seem to slowly be improving around the rapper as he hopped on a jet to London. He headed across the pond for another music video; this one being for fellow MC Central Cee. The two stars brought their talents together for the first time on a new single “BAND4BAND.” It is rumored to land on the drill artist’s forthcoming LP CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS. The song has quickly blown up and for good reason, as it shows these two have some true chemistry.

According to The Shade Room, he posted a video on TikTok hilariously trying to articulate 15 phrases/words. Some were “bottle of water”, “Twitter”, “football”, among others. 50 Cent is an absolute menace online, and it seems like he decided to hit multiple of his usual targets at once with his latest Instagram post. Moreover, on Friday (May 24), he uploaded artwork to social media of R. Kelly with images of Diddy and Jeffrey Epstein, with Rick Ross’ “U.O.E.N.O.” playing in the background. On that song, Rozay included some questionable lyrics that have forever haunted him. “Put molly all in her champagne / She ain’t even know it / I took her home and enjoyed that / She ain’t even know it,” he raps on the cut. As such, Fif is connecting all the alleged dots and continuing to rally against his Maybach Music Group and Bad Boy rivals.

“You know some times I think people are just stupid, why would you say this in song?” 50 Cent captioned his post. “I DRUGGED HER A**, AND I R***D HER A**, AND SHE AINT EVEN KNOW IT !” Previously, he made some controversial and perhaps overly harsh comments on how Diddy must be feeling amid his various sexual assault, abuse, and sex trafficking accusations. “[Eyes emoji] Damn man I have never seen anything like this before, if you cool with puffy call him,” the G-Unit mogul captioned another IG post on the matter. “He might boom [explosion emoji] his self. 50 Cent’s Latest Troll Against Diddy & Rick Ross

Elsewhere, 50 Cent is also prone to post about whatever Rick Ross is doing these days, albeit to a lesser degree. For example, he couldn’t help but chuckle at Ross’ beef with Drake, something that had the whole Internet entertained for a short while. Of course, we had bigger fish to fry and his name was Kendrick Lamar, but it was still curious to see the “Lord Knows” duo fall apart. Maybe Drizzy and 50 should collab on a future song to create the ultimate petty diss track.

Meanwhile, Diddy continues to reckon with his public fall from grace, and we doubt 50 Cent will stop talking about it anytime soon. Sure, it can get a bit incessant at times, but it’s no wonder that such a big pop culture story is also keeping celebrities busy. All we can hope for is that there’s more tangible developments in the Sean Combs cases that lead us to the truth and to due accountability, depending on which side is liable. But we have to wash down the medicine with some sugar, so we’ll see if these trolls become at least funny again.

North West is continuing to soak up more musical experience as the weeks fly by. She has been picking up knowledge from the patriarch, especially during the chaotic VULTURES era. Those contributions came on “TALKING,” one of its promo cuts. She turned in some pretty memorable vocals, perhaps the best out of the rest of the guests. Additionally, Miss Westie flashed her directorial skills by shooting a third music video for the song. Furthermore, it has been reported that her and pops are working on crafting her debut album Elementary School Dropout. But instead of taking time away from other opportunities, she is looking to improve in any way she can. North West recently did so with a dazzling Lion King showing.

According to TMZ, the eldest child portrayed the role of Simba from one of Disney’s greatest films as part of a 30th Anniversary concert. The Lion King will officially turn three decades old June 24 and to help commemorate it, Disney created this two-day event. It kicked off yesterday (May 24) and will run through tonight at the famous Hollywood Bowl amphitheater in Los Angeles. Furthermore, it is serving double duty as a way to promote the live action film Mufasa: The Lion King out on December 20.

Nicki Minaj Was Reportedly Detained And Searched At An Airport In Amsterdam

Nicki Minaj should be on cloud nine following the expansion of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. However, the “Barbie World” rapper has experienced some turbulence in the mile high club.

Nicki was reportedly detained and searched at the airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Today (May 25), in a video uploaded to her official Instagram page, the entertainer revealed the tail end of an exchange with the supposed pilot of her chartered aircraft. During the encounter, he informed Nicki that her luggage needed to be inspected by local law enforcement after already being cleared by a soft check.

When asked why the matter was escalated, the representative said: “Because you filmed him.”

Nicki went on to explain further in the caption of the post. “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show,” she wrote. “They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now, saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.”

The earlier video in question included her exchanged with a police officer.

It is unclear when the events took place, as Nicki as expected to be in Manchester, England for a sold-out show this evening. However, Nicki’s Amsterdam concert supposedly took place on Thursday, May 23.

This isn’t the first time, Nicki expressed her frustrations after a mix-up with transportation professionals. On April 17, Nicki claimed that while traveling for her Montreal, Canada tour stop, her plane was intentionally being delayed. In fact, it even got the mom seal of approval, as his mother took to Instagram to celebrate this distinction.

“This child sure knows how to make his momma proud!” Frank Ocean’s mother Katonya Breaux captioned her IG post about the placement. “I first said wow son, you are among the greats but quickly retracted and said ‘no, you are a GREAT!’ Here’s to my Frankie!![champagne glasses & red heart emojis] #blonde.” Blonde was originally an Apple Music exclusive, curiously enough, and this list is pretty much his biggest public appearance since his muscular selfie from a couple of months ago.

DJ Akademiks has witnessed and been a part of many beefs during his media career, but there are a couple of recent examples that really stand out. For the first category, his involvement and coverage concerning the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef was a pretty big element of the whole battle. Moreover, the streamer not only appeared as a sample guest on Drizzy’s “Push Ups” diss, but was also his main mouthpiece for new releases, updates, etc. On the other hand, we have a beef of his own with NBA YoungBoy. During a Twitter rant on Saturday (May 25), Ak ended up downplaying both of these feuds for two different reasons.

First, DJ Akademiks blasted biased Drake and Kendrick Lamar fans who can’t enjoy both of their disses, likely a result of OVO fans being mad at him quoting “Not Like Us” in a tweet despite his fandom for The Boy. “Fans swear this Drake Kendrick issue is like gang banging,” he wrote. “U a lame a** fan if u can’t like ‘Not Like Us,’ ‘Push Ups’ ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Family Matters’ all at the same time. Them rappers made 10s of millions wit their beef .. don’t be that invested it ain’t that serious.”

As for his personal beef with NBA YoungBoy, DJ Akademiks chose to eschew it in favor of advocating for the Baton Rouge rapper to overcome his legal struggles and for the justice system to change their ways. “My prayers are with NBA Youngboy…” he expressed. “I went to grave digger mountain .. I sat with him talked with him .. argued with him .. this an artist and a man who been u unfairly isolated tortured and made out as an evil person he isn’t that. Meanwhile, DJ Akademiks has some other pretty big fish to fry, including a sexual assault and defamation lawsuit against him. Whether or not he overcomes this hurdle or faces accountability for it (if true, as they are just allegations) is still unknown. On her tour travels, Nicki Minaj was reportedly arrested on Saturday (May 25) in Amsterdam for drug possession, an odd development considering the Netherlands’ marijuana laws. However, it seems like authorities failed to properly inform her of her own situation, as she took to Instagram Live to document authorities searching her bags and her argument with Dutch police. The Trinidadian superstar has also updated the situation via Twitter, relaying that they made her miss her flight to Manchester and that this is all allegedly a ploy to inspire negative stories about her. Needless to say, it’s all a very complex and unclear situation as of writing this article.

Nevertheless, we hope for the best for Nicki Minaj amid this stressful time, and hope that she continues her trek safely and without further interruption. After all, it seems odd that this would happen in Amsterdam, especially when many other shows on the Pink Friday 2 tour took place without a hiccup. Regardless, she’s got a second North American leg coming up, which obviously prompted a very excited response from the Barbz and fans who didn’t get a chance to catch the first one. Sadly, this news dampens that hype a little bit, as listeners now fear that the “FTCU” MC will face more scrutiny moving forward.
