Tinashe Shares Her Action-Packed ‘Getting No Sleep’ Video And Reveals The ‘Quantum Baby’ Release Date

On her viral single “Nasty,” Tinashe is looking for someone to match her freak. And it seems she has found the right suitor. Tonight (June 27), the Los Angeles native has shared her new single, “Getting No Sleep” from her upcoming album, Quantum Baby.

Over a hypnotic beat, Tinashe gets lost in the vibe of a man, letting the minutes turn into hours as the two stay up all night.

“All week long, keep pressure high / Got you whipped, all quick replies / I’ll admit I still get shy, overwhelmed in overdrive, she rap sings.

In the accompanying video, Tinashe finds herself at the center of the action, making epic chases through motels and dive bars.

Tinashe has been delivering next level music and visuals for over a decade. But with “Nasty” becoming a hit, we see her finally getting her long-deserved flowers. While she has several mixtapes and albums that could’ve warranted a mainstream breakthrough, it is nice seeing Tinashe’s hard work pay off in real time, and it looks like Quantam Baby will be the one.

In addition to “Getting No Sleep,” Tinashe has revealed the release date and cover art for Quantam Baby

Pedro Pascal Tells Omar Apollo A Story About Heartbreak On ‘Pedro’ From His New Album, ‘God Said No’

With growth comes heartache, and on his sophomore album, God Said No, Omar Apollo has become all too familiar with this. But he’s not alone. On the album, he finds solace in the company of one Pedro Pascal, with whom he bonds over heartache.

Apollo kicks off the song with a vocal interlude, waxing romantic over a hypnotic plea.

“If meadows was a man, would you trade me for your land? / Mine still have a misty dew / Something I can offer you / If I could get the chance, would you train me with your hands? /Hold me with a magnitude / That takes me to a better view,” sings Apollo on the song’s intro.

The track then makes a transition into a spoken interlude from Pascal, who recounts a painful heartbreak. Audibly, Pascal is hesitant to share the story with Apollo, but finds a strong confidant in his Gen-Z counterpart.

“I remember I finished a job, and I was too scared to go back to the US. It was, like, second-wave COVID in Europe. And, um, I was going from Budapest to Switzerland. That was a place that I could get to to buy some time, and figure out what I would do before Christmas, and I also arrived, um, very shattered,” Pascal tells Apollo.

The story tugs at the heartstrings, but like Apollo in his music, Pescal knows when to put his emotions and vulnerability on display. No matter how difficult such a task may be.

You can listen to “Pedro” above.

BLXST Announces Release Date And Title For Anticipated Debut Album

BLXST has been grinding for a long time. The rapper has been in the game since 2014, but he really broke out with the single “Chosen” in 2020. It’s been all uphill from there. BLXST’s smooth sound is partially indebted to G-funk, but there’s an eccentricity to it that makes him stand out. It’s the reason he’s been able to link up with legends like Ty Dolla Sign and Kendrick Lamar. After years of putting out mixtapes, though, BLXST is finally ready to make the jump. His debut studio album is imminent.

The rapper broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on June 27. He posted an album teaser, along with a title and release date. The teaser treats fans to a montage of BLXST riding around different parts of Los Angeles. It’s dramatic, like all album teasers are, but it’s effective. At the end of the clip, the title of the album flashes onscreen: I’ll Always Come Find You. It’s a provocative title, especially given the pensive imagery of BLSXT in a car. The album will drop July 19, meaning fans won’t have to wait long to hear a grand statement from the rapper at least.

BLXST’s Debut Album Is Due Out This Summer

BLXST’s reliance on Los Angeles makes sense given his back catalog. The rapper has always made his home, and the history of said home, part of his lyrical focus. He explained his reasoning for doing so in a 2023 interview with Complex. “I want to be able to put people in a good mood,” he explained. “I want people to listen to my music while they’re with their family or while they’re barbecuing in the backyard. Want them to feel like they’re in L.A.” He’s certainly managed to do that with tapes like Before You Go and No Love Lost.

In the same interview, BLXST predicted a sea change in LA culture. “I feel like it’s healing,” he opined. “Like, the younger generation is understanding it’s bigger than that. We’re trying to feed our families and create generational wealth. So there’s strength in numbers, and I think we’re understanding that right now.” His gut feeling proved to be accurate. BLXST’s debut album will come out after Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” show, which has seemingly breathed new life into the city. The rapper has the attention of the music world. Let’s hope he makes it count.

Lil Yachty And James Blake Claim Young Thug Is Wildest Artist To Record With

Lil Yachty and James Blake are one of the most fascinating collaborations in recent memory. The rapper and electronic balladeer couldn’t be further apart, and yet, they’ve found a way to make their disparate sounds for an entire album. Bad Cameo, their debut release as a duo, is out June 28. They’ve been doing lots of promotion in the lead up to its release. That being said, the most surprising anecdote they’ve said thus far has to be their shared fascination with Young Thug.

Lil Yachty and Blake were asked about their wildest studio experiences during an appearance on the Safe Space Podcast. Incredibly, both artists picked sessions with Young Thug as their answer. “Probably Young Thug, during COVID,” Blake quipped. Lil Yachty instantly co-signed his collaborator. “I was just about to say the same thing,” he claimed. “Young Thug, for me, was definitely the craziest session ever.” What makes their shared answer so interesting is that Lil Boat and Blake recorded with Thugger during completely different times.

Lil Yachty Was Fascinated By Thugger’s Musical Process

Lil Yachty elaborated on Young Thug’s unorthodox process. “It’s 60 people in a room, the mic’s in the room, he’s recording in the room,” he explained. “No one stops talking, it’s weed smoke, there’s nowhere to sit, the lights are low.” James Blake confirmed that he was brought into a similarly packed situation. The singer/producer did assert that Thug was very professional in terms of work ethic, however. He told the Safe Space host that the YSL boss was “very supportive” and focused when it came time to lay down vocals.

James Blake and Young Thug have only collaborated on one song, “Kisses Make Sure.” The former claimed that he worked with Thugger during COVID, however, so it remains to be seen whether they have more songs in the vault. Lil Yachty and Young Thug, meanwhile, have multiple collabs dating back to 2016. The two rappers are so close, in fact, that Yachty scrapped an entire album on Thug’s advice. “One time I played [Lil Boat 3] for Young Thug,” he told Pheno Bars in 2023. “He said it was dog sh*t, so I just started over.” It’s this brutal honesty that has led Lil Yachty to dub Thugger one of the “greatest” of his generation. Here’s hoping more collabs are around the corner.

Chance The Rapper’s New Album Is 83% Finished

“We’re living in the project right now,” he explained. “The thing is, no one has the attention span for what the conversation needs to be. So I’m piecing it together. I’m living in it with my fans, with the new artists I come in contact with… I’m really enjoying this process time.” Chance went on, revealing why working on his last album wasn’t nearly as enjoyable.

“Sometimes the process time is really stressful and hectic,” he said. “For my last project, I’d just gotten married, I just had a baby, I was about to separate from my management. Like, I had so many things going on and now, it’s not like ain’t sh*t going on — it’s a lot going on — but I’m really able to revel in the creative process and put everything into that and be 100 percent myself and present in the now.” What do you think of Chance The Rapper’s latest update on his upcoming album? Michael Jackson’s Son Prince Pens Tribute 15 Years After Singer’s Death

Michael Jackson cast a towering shadow over the music world. He transcended the medium altogether, and redefined what it meant to be a pop star, for better or worse. June 25 marked the 15th anniversary of Jackson’s passing, which led to various social media tributes from fans. The most notable statement released, however, was from the King of Pop’s own son, Prince Jackson.

Prince, who was only 12 years old when Michael Jackson died, posted a photo alongside his father on Instagram. “Miss you pops,” he wrote in the brief, albeit touching caption. “The world felt better with you in it.” Prince has made less controversial remarks about MJ than his sister, Paris, has, sticking mostly to happy childhood memories. He did just that during a KTLA interview back in March. Prince told the outlet that Michael Jackson never pushed him to pursue a career as an entertainer. “My dad used to say, ‘I don’t care what you want to be when you grow up, you just have to be the best at it,’” he recalled.

Prince Approves Of The Upcoming Michael Jackson Film

Michael Jackson’s legacy is more relevant than ever. The pop star’s career will serve as the focus of the upcoming film Michael, which is slated for release in April 2025. The titular role will be played by MJ’s nephew (and Prince’s cousin), Jaafar Jackson. Prince is not involved with the production, but he did give the film, and its creators, his blessing. He also posted a photo of Jaafar Jackson in character as MJ, and praised his performance. “Watching you perform and work your butt off,” Prince wrote on Instagram. “Is the closest I’ll ever come to watching my dad in concert and it’s been a dream come true! Proud of you cuz!”

Prince Jackson wasn’t the only one who paid tribute to the King of Pop this year. Jackie Jackson, MJ’s older brother, posted a photo of both of them performing on IG. “Hard to believe it’s been 15 years without you,” he wrote. We miss you everyday.” Tito Jackson also took to social media to share a black-and-white photo of his brother in his artistic prime. He didn’t provide any text, but Tito did use the hashtags #gonetoosoon and #missyoumuch.

Sexyy Red Reacts To Critic Accusing Her Of Turning Young Women Into “Wh*res”

It’s no secret that Sexyy Red’s wild internet antics and raunchy lyrics aren’t for everyone, but recently, one social media user took things a step further. A woman hopped on the internet to share several reasons why she “hates” the St. Louis-born performer, and didn’t hold back in the slightest. She accused Sexyy Red of having a “detrimental” impact on the Black community and of being a negative influence on young women. The user also encouraged viewers to have conversations with their children about her to let them know that “this is not the way to go.”

“She is going to tear your daughters’ self-esteem down,” the user claimed. “Sexyy Red is making a mockery out of Black girls’ hair and saying it looks like carpet and saying that it’s unattractive, along with turning your daughter into wh*res. I hate this b*tch with everything in me.”

Sexyy Red Remains Unbothered Amid Criticism

The user’s video has sparked a major debate in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section. While some commenters believe that the woman is onto something, others are coming to Sexyy Red’s defense. “She’s RIGHT,” one claims. Another says, “So say the same thing about the men rapping about sex, money, and drugs.” Others are arguing that it’s not Sexyy Red’s responsibility to be a role model for other people’s children and that she has a right to be whoever she wants to be.

Despite the harsh criticism, the “SkeeYee” performer appears to have remained unbothered. She took to Twitter/X earlier today to address the clip with a simple correction. “It’s Sexyy spell it right,” she wrote alongside a kiss emoji, in reference to the user misspelling her name. What do you think of this social media user’s take on Sexyy Red? Was she too harsh or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Chuck D Criticized By Fans Over U.S. State Department Partnership

Chuck D is arguably the most famous political rapper of all time. He rattled the music industry as the voice of Public Enemy, and solidified himself as a genre legend in the process. Chuck D is a name that’s synonymous with rebellion and individuality, which is why his recent decision has drawn so much criticism. The rapper partnered with the U.S. State Department and President Joe Biden to serve as a Global Music Ambassador. It’s a title that sounds good on paper, but is setting off alarm bells for hip-hop fans.

Variety announced the partnership on June 25. Chuck D was unveiled, alongside Lainey Wilson, Herbie Hancock, and several others, as the face of the program. The Public Enemy icon even issued a statement that outlined his intentions. “Bridging cultural divides and inspiring positive change has been part of my life’s work,” he claimed. “And it is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. Being a global music ambassador is an opportunity to use my voice and music to inspire everyone.” Chuck D also expressed a desire to set a good example for future artists. “[I want to see] new generations of human beings from many places,” he asserted. “Leading, activating and uniting making a better world through Music which is the universal language.”

Chuck D Drew Criticism From Hip-Hop Fans

The comments were not as optimistic as Chuck D. Twitter users took the rapper to task for aligning himself with the government. Especially given the topics he’s spent his entire career rapping about. “Promote peace on whose terms, though?,” one user asked. Another user spun the meaning of the rapper’s iconic anthem “Fight the Power” against him. “‘Fight the power’ by joining an empire of lies,” they tweeted. There were even some who pointed out that Chuck’s decision contradicts the things he was saying earlier this year.

Chuck D urged fans to be wary of the State of Union address President Biden gave in March. He told people to pay attention, even if they didn’t like what they were hearing. He also made it clear that he wasn’t endorsing one political side over the other. “When I say pay attention,” he wrote on Twitter. “It doesn’t mean I’m making a [sic] assumption of who to vote on. I just tell folk stop voting for candidates and expecting them to be Jesus. They ain’t and you best to make them accountable.”

Ice Spice’s Hairstylist Shuts Down Nicki Minaj Style-Biting Accusations

Recently, Ice Spice took to social media to tease her upcoming album Y2K! whilst sporting a brand-new hairstyle. Instead of her signature curls or even her more recent long and sleek look, she rocked a voluminous bob. This immediately prompted fans to compare her to Nicki Minaj, who’s worn a similar style in the past, and who’s famously collaborated with Ice Spice on multiple tracks. While some saw nothing wrong with this, others thought she was taking her Nicki admiration a bit too far, and accused her of biting her style.

Amid chatter surrounding the controversial hairdo, the stylist behind it took to Twitter/X to show off her work and was immediately flooded with comments about Nicki. “Reference was Princess Diana, and she nailed it!” she captioned a side-by-side image of the two ladies’ looks. “She really is the modern Princess Diana.”

Ice Spice Unveils Controversial Princess Diana-Inspired Bob

“Reference was Nicki Minaj actually,” one critic wrote in her comments section, prompting the hairstylist to fire back. “Not everything is about Nicki,” she said. “This was a Princess Diana recreation, aka what she and the general public have been calling her since she started rapping.” As expected, her remark has done little to quell the style-biting accusations. Instead, it appears to have only ramped them up.

“Everything is about Nicki,” one Instagram user claims in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section. “Baby that’s a Nicki wig,” someone else writes, “Next!” Others are arguing that the look isn’t that big of a deal, despite whoever might have inspired it. What do you think of Ice Spice’s new hairstyle? How about her hairstylist firing back amid claims she was inspired by Nicki Minaj? What about her insisting it was actually inspired by Princess Diana? Fat Joe & E-40 Will Support Joe Biden Against Donald Trump At North Carolina Rally

The 2024 U.S. presidential race is getting nastier by the minute. With Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s first debate this year happening later tonight (Thursday, June 27), it’s only going to get more chaotic. But it looks like the Democrat is already planning for the future, inviting some special guests to a North Carolina rally on Friday (June 28) to either celebrate a successful debate or crisis-manage a disastrous one. Moreover, Fat Joe and E-40 will join the current United States president and his wife Jill to show their support and, by proxy, try to rally more of the rap world to the blue side come November.

Furthermore, we know that this is far from the first time that politicians have tried to steer hip-hop in their favor, and in fact, Joe Biden arrived late to the party this time around. Donald Trump already made his mark on the rap world this year in grand and controversial fashion, such as getting New York drill MCs Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow to co-sign him at a rally recently. In addition, there are even some lighter and less direct homages such as Sexyy Red’s “Make America Sexyy Again” branding. We’ll see which other players in the game come forward with their take, or to outright blast both candidates.

Fat Joe & E-40 Are On Joe Biden’s Side

Nevertheless, Joe Biden’s campaign labeled Fat Joe and E-40 as “legends of the music industry who understand the importance of utilizing their platforms to ensure their fan base understands the stakes of this election.” However, other rappers like Sada Baby, whom Donald Trump recently linked with alongside fellow Detroit rappers Icewear Vezzo and Peezy, think that the convicted former president “might be the first person to make [the rapper] vote.” “Him reaching out showed me, like, some type of effort that another candidate hadn’t shown ever,” Sada reportedly told NBC News. “I’m trying to act like it doesn’t mean too much, but it means a lot.”

In the face of this wave, Joe Biden might have to enlist more MCs to his side if he wants more hip-hop favor. Of course, both candidates could actually try to impact the struggling communities within rap, defend its artistic freedom in the courts system, and not parade them around as celebrity heads to curry favor with voters… But they’re politicians: how rarely do they ever engage with their actual job descriptions? Regardless, Biden’s not happy about Trump’s convictions, and hopes to use them against him. Will the rap world actually have a role to play this election or are these all just false promises and obfuscations?
