Whether on his It Is What It Is podcast with friend and co-host Mase or on wax, Cam’ron is known to ruffle a few feathers. Yesterday (July 4), the “What You Did” showed way.

In a video uploaded to his personal Instagram page, to celebrate Independence Day, Cam’ron decided to dress up as the late O.J. Simpson.

“OJ was here,” he wrote. “Happy Independence Day! This ain’t really our holiday… But it feels good not to have to answer to nobody!”

To the outside looking in, it may seem odd, but the pair have a relationship well before Simpson’s passing. For weeks before his death, Simpson would appear on his podcast to share his thoughts on trending sports topics, so during a taping, Cam’ron passed respect to the former football player.

“I used to go f*ck with O.J. off the show, when there wasn’t no show,” he said. “I’d go to the bar and meet him, we’d go to lunch. And people where we stay at loved O. They really, really loved O.J.. I just want to say it was great working with O.J., he’ll truly be missed. And I love him like a real, real uncle, man. So I’m really sorry this happened. But at the end of the day, I’m glad that we did get to spend the last few months with him, at least one day out the week for me, minimum.”

Ice Cube’s BIG3 Basketball League Expands With Teams In Houston And Miami

After Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league, The BIG3, announced it was moving to a more traditional, city-based model in May with the $10 million sale of its first franchise in Los Angeles, the league has once again expanded to two new cities, Houston and Miami, according to Billboard. While the league started out with a touring model — sort of like the barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters — its proprietor said at the time, “Basing our teams in home cities allows BIG3 to engage local communities and fanbases. Bringing in ownership groups each with their own sports expertise, business, and capabilities beginning in 2025 will allow BIG3 to grow exponentially.”

The newest ownership consists of businessmen Eric Mullins and Milton Carroll, who will base their team in Houston, and hospitality executive Heath Freeman will put his team in Miami. It’s unknown what will happen with the existing teams, which consist of the Ghost Ballers, 3 Headed Monsters, 3’s Company, Aliens, Ball Hogs, Bivouac, Enemies, Killer 3s, Power, Tri-State, Trilogy, and Triplets, or whatever became of the cryptocurrency that allowed fans to purchase ownership in teams that was announced in 2022.

In March, Cube ruffled feathers in the basketball community by allegedly offering then-Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark a $5 million deal to play in the upcoming BIG3 season, a move that some criticized as opportunistic. Still, it seems to have drawn the right kind of attention, too, with new owners lining up to take the league into its next phase.

Adam22 Under Fire From Pop Smoke Fans After Interviewing The Rapper’s Alleged Killer

Family and friends of Pop Smoke are unfortunately still dealing with his loss in some way even four years later. A couple of weeks ago, numerous reports broke the defeating news that one of the late rapper’s killers was released. Blockstar is his name and he put in four years in juvie for pleading guilty to murder. Coincidentally his sentence ended the day of his 21st birthday. It is a gift from above, as everyone is extremely confused as to why he is free. Now, people are at a loss for words again after Adam22 interviewed Pop Smoke’s alleged killer on his No Jumper platform.

A clip from their sit-down is currently trending online, with the controversial figure asking about details of the murder. Blockstar was pretty vague for obvious reasons, but he did confirm that it was a robbery. Additionally, he explained that it was not a setup and that publications are misinterpreting the situation. Adam22 did check Blockstar’s claims by bringing up the fact that there were images of a bag with Pop Smoke’s address posted online. However, Blockstar was either not able to provide information on that or he wanted to avoid exposing anyone else.

Adam22 Asks Pop Smoke’s Suspected Murderer About The Setup

Overall, Pop Smoke’s supporters and haters of Adam22 are extremely distraught over this. One user on X writes, “Adam 22 is certified clown why the hell would you give Pop Smoke’s k*ller a platform to speak on some shit like he got an album dropping”. Another adds, “Adam 22 is a distasteful bitch who only thrives off the African American community”. This clip comes after Blockstar demanded that the controversial interviewer pay him for giving him a platform to speak on this. “You got all these people following me. All these people doing all this extra s***”, he said. Adam and No Jumper seem to be just fine with the publicity, but everyone is deservedly outraged.

Megan Thee Stallion Brought Back Her Hottie Bootcamp With A Bootylicious Twerk Workout Infomercial

Megan Thee Stallion‘s love for exercise and keeping up her fitness is no secret, but while she’s been on the rollout campaign for her new album, Megan, she hasn’t been able to share many new workout videos with her fans. That’s about to change, though, as Meg shared an advert for the return of her notorious Hottie Bootcamp on social media, showing off a sampling of the twerk-centric workouts she plans to share.

The trailer is shot in the style of a 1990s ad, complete with VHS video artifacts — jumping picture, that weird rolling line you used to get down the screen, and of course, static at the edges — and those cheesy graphics bearing an 800 number promising to change your life (in this case, the number, “1800REALHOTGIRLSH*T,” is way too long). It even has the “please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery” disclaimer. Naturally, Meg and her dance team demonstrate the energetic, booty-forward dances that’ll get viewers sweating, and at the end, Megan gives her own testimonial.

“My friend’s booty used to be silent!” she exclaims. “Quieter than a church mouse!” Clearly, she implies, the latest Hottie Bootcamp changed all that. The only downside? The trailer has one last disclaimer: Knees not included. I guess you can’t have everything. You can watch the video below.

R.A.P. Ferreira Faces Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Allegations From His Ex-Girlfriend

R.A.P. Ferreira, rapper formerly known as Milo or Scallops Hotel, has been accused of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault by his former partner. Moreover, Chloe “Mekah” Stingley posted a fundraising campaign on BetterWorld on Thursday (July 4) asking for financial assistance in her court and custody battle against him. The Wisconsin rapper, real name Rory Ferreira, allegedly “committed multiple acts of violence against [Stingley] and all of [her] children,” as the campaign claims. As of writing this article, he has not responded publicly to these allegations, which also include stalking and harassment over the past year or so.

“[R.A.P. Ferreira] physically assaulted my 7 year old at his record store, Soulfolks Records, used a deadly weapon against him and also sexually assaulted me,” Stingley claimed in the fundraiser. “We lived in Nashville for a few months and fled in November of 2023 because of fear of bodily harm and death.” In addition, she accused him of stalking her and trying to legally remove their 16-month old daughter from her care. Stingley seeks $22,000 in total to pay for a specialized domestic violence attorney and travel expenses from a trip to Nashville on July 12 for an emergency hearing.

Furthermore, in North Carolina, she hired an attorney to file “an order of protection against [R.A.P. Ferreira] due to his behavior that inflicts substantial emotional distress by way of stalking, neglect of our daughter, aggravated child abuse of my son, Auri Stingley, and Rory’s history of unlawfully imprisoning me, along with verbal, financial and sexual abuse.” Stingley also claimed to possess “a sworn affidavit with 42 items of material evidence ready to go for [her] protection order hearing against Mr. Ferreira on July 23rd, 2024.” “These funds will allow me to protect my rights, have Miel [their daughter] returned to my care and show cause for change of jurisdiction to North Carolina so Rory can travel here to see her,” she added.

“I desire for Miel to keep a relationship with her father but not to the detriment of the health, safety and well being of myself or my children,” Stingley wrote. “Rory Ferreira is using the court system to harass me with litigation abuse fueled by false allegations as a form of retaliation for me escaping from him and the domestic violence that was perpetrated in Nashville during 2023.” At press time, she has raised a bit over $5,000, marking around 23% of her $22,000 goal. R.A.P. Ferreira released his last project, a collaborative album with Japanese producer Fumitake Tamura titled the First Fist to Make Contact When We Dap, in January of this year.

Drake Could Deliver A Surprise Performance At Essence Festival 2024, According To Birdman

Yesterday (July 4), Kendrick Lamar dropped the official music video for chart-topping diss track, “Not Like Us.” But if you thought for a second, Drake would duck and hide until things died down, you might just end up with egg on your face.

One of the culture’s biggest annual events, Essence Festival, could be the “First Person Shooter” rapper’s ticket back into the public’s good graces. Well, Birdman surely thinks so. Starting tonight (July 5), the festival’s evening concert series will spotlight some of music’s biggest names with a heavy emphasis on New Orleans natives.

In an exclusive chat with People, Birdman teased that not only will his performance later commemorate the 30th anniversary of Cash Money Records, but he has several surprise guests lined up, which could very well include Drake.

“Everybody you’re thinking of as far as Cash Money [will be there],” he said. “A lot of people that started with me when we was young in the game. It’s going to be a great night.”

Although Drake has his own record label, OVO Sound, he owes his start in music to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Records imprint and, by extension, Birdman. With Lil Wayne’s heart set on headlining Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans, this could be an epic bounce back for Drake from rap’s most talked about beef.

Protective Papa DDG Clapped Back At Trolls Who Had Negative Things To Say About His Son Halo

Father’s Day was officially celebrated last month. But daddy duties never stop. First time poppa, DDG would certainly agree. Since the birth of his son Halo at the top of the year, the “Way Too Petty” rapper and his girlfriend and fellow entertainer Halle Bailey have slowly and cautiously shared small milestones online.

On July 3, the couple revealed the adorable infant’s face in a gallery of family vacation photos. Although the images were met with overwhelmingly positive responses, a few outliers hide in the comment section.

Not only did DDG notice the snide remarks, he decided to clapback with a few of his own. In a video captured by The Shade Room, DDG let loose on the trolls.

“I read a few comments,” he said. “I know I have the best looking son in the world. There is no baby out there that is more handsome than my son. But I seen a few poor, broke, dirty, fat back b*tches on Instagram talking about my son, and it just makes me so angry and mad.”

His insults didn’t stop there. “But then I have to realize that my son is richer than them,” he said. “And he has a more successful life than [them]. And he’s in Italy at 6 months [old]. He’s been across the world. He’s been around the world already, and he has only been living for six months. And they are poor, broke, and can barely eat probably on welfare still, and they are grown probably living with they momma.”

Who Is BabyTron, The Rapper Featured On Eminem’s New Single ‘Tobey?’

babytron

Who is BabyTron, the Detroit rapper who joined Big Sean as a feature on Eminem’s new single, “Tobey“?

Eminem’s latest release from the upcoming album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), isn’t just a showcase for the self-proclaimed Rap God — it’s a multigenerational display of some of the most notable names from the Motor City. While Eminem represents, in many ways, the generation who helped make rap the global phenomenon it is today, and Big Sean is the contemporary hitmaker keeping that legacy alive, BabyTron is the future of the Detroit sound. A love for truly unhinged wordplay ties them all together.

BabyTron is the definition of a Y2K baby, born in July 2000 as James Edward Johnson IV in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He started rapping at just 13 years old, creating the trio Sh*ttyBoyz in high school with friends TrDee and StanWill. A proponent of so-called “scam rap,” BabyTron’s been putting out mixtapes commercially since 2017, garnering his first big looks from outside his hometown when Lil Yachty released his Michigan Boy Boat tape, putting on various rappers from the Great Lake State — including BabyTron, who appeared on “Hybrid.”

Since then, his star has been on the rise, with a seemingly never-ending stream of new projects released through Empire distribution, most recently, MegaTron 2. He was featured as a XXL Freshman in 2022 and some of his notable tracks have included “100 Bars” and “Emperor Of The Universe” with their Cole Bennett-directed videos, and “Prince Of The Mitten.” Check them out below.

Kendrick Lamar & Drake Fans React To Dave Free Co-Directing “Not Like Us” Music Video

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” music video is taking the world by storm right now, and there are a lot of details for fans to gush and complain about. Moreover, one of the key aspects of the video relating to Drake’s disses against K.Dot is the co-direction from Dave Free. You probably remember all of the allegations that Drizzy made about Free, Kendrick’s creative collaborator, and the Compton lyricist’s partner Whitney Alford, their kids, the abuse allegations, all of that. Well, a lot of fans think that this narrative is all but moot now, as Free’s been happy to support his friend throughout all this and even appeared in the visuals.

In addition, Whitney herself popped out during the “Not Like Us” music video alongside her two kids with Kendrick Lamar. This has all led to a lot of Drake-bashing online, and whether warranted or not, it’s combating the claims that he had in cuts like “Family Matters” and “The Heart Part 6.” Of course, this is all just optics, and we have no way to really verify whether either battling MC’s claims against the other is true at all. But there’s an Internet and culture game to play here, and fans are using these visuals’ ammo to decide on a winner.

Fans Are Loving Kendrick Lamar & Dave Free’s Direction For Drake Diss Video

However, even with all the hype behind Kendrick Lamar’s music video, we can’t imagine that “Not Like Us” made Drake break much of a sweat. After all, he was partying with Michael Rubin and a whole slew of celebrities at his White Party on Fourth of July, the day that the visuals dropped. As such, we predict that the 6ix God will probably make some cheeky post trolling Kendrick or downplaying the new release. Still, it’s got to sting to see folks revel in your downfall, as you can see some folks doing in the reactions down below.

More Fans React To Dave Free’s Co-Directing Credit On “Not Like Us”

Meanwhile, this new “Not Like Us” music video also built up even more hype for more new Kendrick Lamar music on the way. The teased West Coast banger at the start of it has fans foaming at the mouth, so we’ll see whether it actually manifests into something. Perhaps this will be the final chapter in this installment of the greatest rap beef since Jay-Z and Nas. It’s changing the context of previous disses, dismantling narratives, and suggesting what could be next in the future.

Joe Budden Draws Backlash For His Domestic Violence Comments & His Past Accusations

Joe Budden doesn’t just give out hot takes on hip-hop: he also speaks on wider societal issues, for better or worse. Moreover, he recently sat down with the BagFuel podcast to speak on his perspective on domestic violence and abusive relationships, particularly when it relates to a man suffering from them. However, many folks online pointed out that the rapper and media personality has his own history when it comes to allegations of perpetrating these crimes. Nevertheless, he spoke from his own perspective and viewpoint when it comes to his struggles with toxic partnerships, addressing the dangers of gender standards regardless of how folks will respond to his point of view.

I was in a domestic violence relationship, but we men, so we don’t know that,” Joe Budden posited. “We don’t know that if somebody just gets up and starts [saying], ‘Hey, you got a text I didn’t like. I’m burning all your clothes.’ That’s domestic violence… I had an incident one time where me and a lady broke up, and I took the phone back that I bought and was actively paying the bill for. Charges. Charges brought up. I didn’t know that [was stealing] so that was a lesson like, ‘Oh, okay. If there’s a dispute, you can’t tough the phone, even if you bought or got it.’”

Joe Budden Speaks On Domestic Violence In Abusive Relationships

Regarding Joe Budden’s accusations, his ex-partner Esther Baxter claimed that he caused her to have a miscarriage by allegedly sitting on her stomach during an altercation. Also, his ex Tahiry Jose called him out for supposed hypocrisy when he condemned the video of Diddy assaulting Cassie. “FOH, who??? The irony. This is so triggering!!!” she expressed on social media. “I remember joey throwing me down a flight of stairs dragging me back into the house & me having to talk him into letting me go. FOR HOURS!!!!

“This whole s**t took me out,” Jose continued. “So hard to watch. So sorry for Cassie and every other woman who is currently going through it or has ever gone through it. It’s tough.” “Tahiry you are a lying, failed gold digger that has abused, targeted and manipulated many men,” Joe Budden responded. “Outside of me you lack an identity which is why you’ve tried desperately to attach yourself to me for over 15 years. The last time i saw you i purchased a mattress from you and you were happy you made the sale, you were fine then.”
