50 Cent Is Nonplussed By The Game’s Assertion That Kanye West Did More For Him Than Dr. Dre

When The Game made the claim that Kanye West has done more for his career in two weeks than Dr. Dre did in the nearly two decades since his debut album, many people were confused and surprised — including one of Game’s oldest frenemies, 50 Cent. It took a while for the headline to find the Power producer but once he saw it, he couldn’t contain his reaction, which could best be described as “nonplussed.”

“Hun, what happen here?” 50 tweeted along with a screenshot of the quote in question. He didn’t elaborate, but it’s one of those situations that doesn’t need explanation. It was Dr. Dre who brought The Game into the Aftermath/G-Unit machine, producing several of the Compton rapper’s earliest hits, including “Westside Story” and “How We Do,” which both featured 50 Cent. It’s probably reasonable to attribute all the success The Game has had to those early moves giving him such a solid foundation and a fanbase.

However, 50 Cent was also a major factor in Game’s falling out with Dr. Dre, resulting in Game’s second album being released by Geffen, another subsidiary of Interscope, rather than Dre’s own Aftermath imprint. The Game wouldn’t reunite with Dre until 2011’s The R.E.D. Album, his fourth album. That being said, Kanye West has had a presence on Game’s albums since the first as well and produced the song “Eazy,” which brought new attention to The Game in 2022. Maybe recency bias is the reason for Game making such a bold statement — either that or the profuse amount of alcohol he apparently consumed while filming his Drink Champs interview — but it looks like at least one of his peers isn’t buying it.

Things Get A Bit Intense In The ‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Trailer

The long wait is almost over: FX has released the trailer for the third (but not final) season of Atlanta. You can watch it above.

The new season takes place almost entirely overseas, where Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) is joined by Earn (Donald Glover), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) “in the midst of a successful European tour,” according to the plot description. The foursome “navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.” (The cast also faced racial profiling while filming, which they laughed off.)

“You’re not worried about, y’know, what the streets think?” Earn asks Paper Boi while he’s getting fitted for a custom outfit. “The streets?!” he replies as the trailer cuts to a different scene where a random woman steals the hat off his head. Later, Darius suggests to Earn that they should get going because things are “getting a bit… intense.”

The last new episode of Atlanta was in May 2018 (!), but the cast “always stayed in touch,” Tyree Henry told James Corden. “Like nonstop, we check in on one another. But to finally be back together, and to be back in the shoes of these characters, it just completely — it’s like a weird Twilight Zone episode, because you’re like like, ‘Do I still remember what Alfred went through?’ You’re just finding it out together.”

Atlanta returns on March 24.

Latto Explains Why Her ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ Verse Didn’t Diss 21 Savage, Ludacris Or Other Atlanta Rappers

Omeretta The Great’s new song “Sorry Not Sorry” stirred up some trouble in the Atlanta area, prompting responses from the likes of both Latto and T.I., as well as a social media debate about which residents of the surrounding areas get to claim the city. Incidentally, when Latto chimed in, she was apparently already in the studio with Omeretta, recording her verse for the song’s remix — a verse that has since sparked a new round of debate thanks to Latto name-checking a number of artists who claim Atlanta but aren’t technically from the city proper.

Latto apparently noticed some chatter on Twitter claiming that she was dissing artists like 21 Savage, Ciara, Ludacris, and Migos, saying that they aren’t really from Atlanta — even though she freely admits her own hometown in Clayton County isn’t within city limits either. She addressed the controversy head-on, tweeting, “Y’all I’m not dissing the people I named on the verse!!! I’m saying so Migos is not Atlanta?? 21, Ciara, Ludacris etc because they technically not from the city but helped make it is what it is!”

Despite Latto’s verse technically refuting the claims Omeretta makes on the original song, the upstart rapper praised her collaborator, telling followers on Twitter, “When Latto sent the verse back I couldn’t even text no mo I had to call like girl wtf why u do that track like that.”

Perhaps Latto’s verse will finally settle the debate after she pointed out the contributions of so many “out-of-towners” in helping grow the city’s rap footprint into what it is today. You can check out her verse below.

Cardi B Wants A Court Order To Force Tasha K To Take Down Her ‘Disgusting Lies’

Despite Cardi B winning a $4 million defamation lawsuit against gossip blogger Tasha K, the YouTuber has yet to delete her videos and posts insinuating Cardi B had contracted an STD (among other things), prompting Cardi B to seek a court order to force Tasha to do so, according to Rolling Stone.

According to documents filed in court Thursday, “Not all of the videos and posts containing the defamatory statements have been removed from defendants’ social media accounts… Despite the overwhelming evidence entered at trial and a unanimous jury verdict against (Kebe and her company) on all of plaintiff’s claims, they continue to insinuate that the defamatory statements are true. Plaintiff is only seeking to require defendants to remove any videos and posts that contain the defamatory Statements from their social media accounts and to enjoin defendants from republishing those same statements.”

The request also notes that trial transcripts even show that Tasha K, real name Latasha Kebe, verbally refused to do so. Rolling Stone quotes the transcript:

“So the only way at this point these videos are ever going to come down is if this court forces you to [remove them]. Is that right?” the lawyer pressed.

“That is correct,” Kebe replied.

“Are you essentially saying that to stop you from calling my client ‘Cold Sore B,’ my client needs to get a gag order?” the lawyer asked.

“Yes, ma’am,” Kebe replied.

Tasha promised to appeal the court’s decision and even bragged on social media about her inability to actually pay the $4 million.

Now, with a new E.P. on the way, he taps popular heartthrob Elhae for the project’s first single and music video, “Without You.” “Without you … easily my best visual yet,” Price tweets Thursday afternoon (Mar 3). 

“Price flipped a Ja Rule classic into a West Coast bop,” tweets Rap Caviar with fire emoji.

A tribute to the classic 2Pac and Janet Jackson-starring classic film, Poetic Justice (1993), the captivating cinematic visual follows Price as he moves through various stages of life, from dating to marriage to fatherhood. Elhae pulls up for the cameo with a fiery falsetto. Together, they trade young, fly, and flashy styles with melodies and a soul-stirring hook.  

Price’s new single further validates his newfound appeal and deal with Motown, which involves his imprint, C.L.R.D. Entertainment. “This why you start and build your own brand,” he tweets. “Create your own value and leverage. I did a partnership with Motown records and signed ME TO ME after building leverage and momentum. put my own dough up. mf’s gotta come in MY OFFICE now. live and learn my ppl. # C.L.R.D.E.N.T. citch.”

Glastonbury Announces Its 2022 Lineup With Headliners Paul McCartney And Kendrick Lamar

When it comes to Europe’s summer festivals, Glastonbury is the grandaddy of them all. Think Coachella, but bigger and across five days. Now Glastonbury has finally announced the long-awaited lineup for the June 22nd to 26th affair, and the festival also cemented the headlining slate with Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney.

McCartney and Lamar will be playing the grandiose Pyramid Stage, along with a previously announced performance from Billie Eilish. We’ll go ahead and take the Pepsi challenge on these headliners, because can this really be topped? Taking place at Worthy Farm in Pilson, Somerset, England for the first time since 2019, the camping festival had already been sold out before the lineup was ever announced. It’s a testament to the cultural significance of this massive gathering and the lineup is positively bonkers.

Also on the bill are legendary diva Diana Ross; pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo; Mercury Prize winner Arlo Parks; jazz fusion legend Herbie Hancock; Oasis leader Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds; a TLC reunion; indie-pop queens Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, and St. Vincent; Little Simz headlining the smaller West Holts Stage; and a whole lot more. Glastonbury says that there’s still more artists to be announced, including more headlining and emerging acts.

Last month, she took a gamble with her controversial song “Sorry Not Sorry.” The track aimed to set the record straight on what cities are and are not considered “Atlanta.” “College Park is not Atlanta / Lithonia is not Atlanta,” she raps on the song. “Clayco is not Atlanta / Decatur is not Atlanta / Gwinnett is not Atlanta / Roswell is not Atlanta / Forest Park is not Atlanta / Lilburn is not Atlanta.”

The song sparked plenty of controversy on social media as many debated whether Omeretta’s claims were correct. One of those who responded was fellow Atlanta rapper Latto who actually said Omeretta “said the truth tbh” on the song. Now, Latto has lent her talents to the rising rapper as she remixed “Sorry Not Sorry.” Just like Omeretta, Latto shows pride and love for her hometown while namedropping acts like Migos, 21 Savage, Ciara, Ludacris, and Outkast as well as cities like Clay County and Decatur.

While Latto may be in support of Omeretta’s song, T.I. had a different take about “Sorry Not Sorry.” He did so through an indirect response on Instagram. “Respectfully…. Only fools dispute facts,” he captioned a picture of Atlanta’s metro area.

Blxst And Zacari Admit That Love Is ‘Sometimes’ A Distraction On Their Bouncy Single

After his excellent 2021 year, Blxst seems set on making sure that his 2022 is just as good, if not better. Last year, the California native enjoyed the success of his late-2020 debut project No Love Lost as it granted him a spot on the 2021 XXL Freshman Class list. He also landed collaborations with Nas, YG, Mozzy, Russ, and more. Elsewhere, he and Bino Rideaux reconnected for their joint project Sixtape 2. However, that’s all in the past now and Blxst is back in action this year with his new song, “Sometimes.” The track is yet another collaboration from him as it finds him paired beside TDE singer Zacari.

Together, Blxst and Zacari describe a relationship that’s proven to be a bit distracting to them. Questions from their lovers and temptations from outside sources make it hard for the singers to stay focused and do what they need to do in their day-to-day lives. Blxst delivers the new song after he teamed up with Buddy for their single, “Wait Too Long.” Prior to that, he went solo and dropped his heartfelt song, “About You,” which was later released with a video that featured Paige Audrey-Marie Hurd from 50 Cent’s Power series.

As for Zacari, he released his Sol EP to conclude 2021 and it delivered four new songs and a lone feature from Justin Nozuka.

Pusha T Teams Up With Nigo To Deliver A Scathing Lyrical Attack On ‘Hear Me Cleary’

We’re just a few weeks removed from DJ and fashion designer Nigo’s upcoming album I Know Nigo. The project has promised features from Tyler The Creator, Lil Uzi Vert, the Teriyaki Boyz, and more. He’s built up anticipation for the project with “Ayra” and “Want It Bad” which feature ASAP Rocky and Kid Cudi respectively. To keep the momentum alive, Nigo returns with “Hear Me Clearly,” his third single from the project. This time, the track is led by vocals from Pusha T.

The track is driven by cut-throat raps from Pusha T who uses the song’s haunting production to deliver scathing lyrical attack for listeners. Along with “Ayra” and “Want It Bad,” “Hear Me Crazy” grants enough excitement to fans for what’s to come on I Know Nigo. Additionally, it boosts the anticipation behind Pusha’s fourth solo album, which is reportedly titled It’s Not Dry Yet. So far, Pusha has released one song from the project, “Diet Coke,” which is produced by Kanye West and 88 Key. A music video featuring Kanye was also released for the track.
