Latto Lends A Supportive Verse To Omeretta The Great’s Controversial Track, ‘Sorry Not Sorry’

Atlanta rapper Omeretta The Great is a skillful artist who’s spent quite some time working her way up in the hip-hop scene. Last month, she took a gamble with her controversial song “Sorry Not Sorry.” The track aimed to set the record straight on what cities are and are not considered “Atlanta.” “College Park is not Atlanta / Lithonia is not Atlanta,” she raps on the song. “Clayco is not Atlanta / Decatur is not Atlanta / Gwinnett is not Atlanta / Roswell is not Atlanta / Forest Park is not Atlanta / Lilburn is not Atlanta.”

The song sparked plenty of controversy on social media as many debated whether Omeretta’s claims were correct. One of those who responded was fellow Atlanta rapper Latto who actually said Omeretta “said the truth tbh” on the song. Now, Latto has lent her talents to the rising rapper as she remixed “Sorry Not Sorry.” Just like Omeretta, Latto shows pride and love for her hometown while namedropping acts like Migos, 21 Savage, Ciara, Ludacris, and Outkast as well as cities like Clay County and Decatur.

While Latto may be in support of Omeretta’s song, T.I. had a different take about “Sorry Not Sorry.” He did so through an indirect response on Instagram. “Respectfully…. Only fools dispute facts,” he captioned a picture of Atlanta’s metro area.

Blxst And Zacari Admit That Love Is ‘Sometimes’ A Distraction On Their Bouncy Single

After his excellent 2021 year, Blxst seems set on making sure that his 2022 is just as good, if not better. Last year, the California native enjoyed the success of his late-2020 debut project No Love Lost as it granted him a spot on the 2021 XXL Freshman Class list. He also landed collaborations with Nas, YG, Mozzy, Russ, and more. Elsewhere, he and Bino Rideaux reconnected for their joint project Sixtape 2. However, that’s all in the past now and Blxst is back in action this year with his new song, “Sometimes.” The track is yet another collaboration from him as it finds him paired beside TDE singer Zacari.

Together, Blxst and Zacari describe a relationship that’s proven to be a bit distracting to them. Questions from their lovers and temptations from outside sources make it hard for the singers to stay focused and do what they need to do in their day-to-day lives. Blxst delivers the new song after he teamed up with Buddy for their single, “Wait Too Long.” Prior to that, he went solo and dropped his heartfelt song, “About You,” which was later released with a video that featured Paige Audrey-Marie Hurd from 50 Cent’s Power series.

As for Zacari, he released his Sol EP to conclude 2021 and it delivered four new songs and a lone feature from Justin Nozuka.

Pusha T Teams Up With Nigo To Deliver A Scathing Lyrical Attack On ‘Hear Me Cleary’

We’re just a few weeks removed from DJ and fashion designer Nigo’s upcoming album I Know Nigo. The project has promised features from Tyler The Creator, Lil Uzi Vert, the Teriyaki Boyz, and more. He’s built up anticipation for the project with “Ayra” and “Want It Bad” which feature ASAP Rocky and Kid Cudi respectively. To keep the momentum alive, Nigo returns with “Hear Me Clearly,” his third single from the project. This time, the track is led by vocals from Pusha T.

The track is driven by cut-throat raps from Pusha T who uses the song’s haunting production to deliver scathing lyrical attack for listeners. Along with “Ayra” and “Want It Bad,” “Hear Me Crazy” grants enough excitement to fans for what’s to come on I Know Nigo. Additionally, it boosts the anticipation behind Pusha’s fourth solo album, which is reportedly titled It’s Not Dry Yet. So far, Pusha has released one song from the project, “Diet Coke,” which is produced by Kanye West and 88 Key. A music video featuring Kanye was also released for the track.

Hear Dominic Fike And Zendaya’s ‘Euphoria’ Collab, ‘Elliot’s Song’ (Yes, It’s Shorter Than The TV Version)

The show Euphoria seems to have a chokehold on the viewers who religiously watch it, and a big part of that is due to none other than rising star Zendaya. But, a star is nothing without their supporting cast, and Dominic Fike seemed to step all the way out of supporting role in a recent episode when his song performance inspired quite a few memes. Namely, the song was incredibly long, and even Fike himself had to weigh in on how epic the roasting he received turned out to be.

But that didn’t stop him and Zendaya from editing the song she wrote down a bit, and getting ready to do a studio release of it today. “We made the song shorter… “Elliot’s Song” with @zendaya this Friday,” Fike posted on Instagram yesterday. If you don’t watch Euphoria and haven’t heard the song yett, or are simply interested in hearing this new, shorter version, check it out up top. In the meantime, if you want more music from Zendaya, this is the second song she’s released so far this week! Her emotional collaboration with Labrinth, “I’m Tired,” dropped on Monday. So, does this mean she’s got more music on the way? Based on what we’ve heard so far, hopefully!

Morray And Cordae Refuse To Back Down On The Reaffirming ‘Still Here’

North Carolina rapper Morray released “Quicksand” at the end of 2020 and it ended up being the song that launched him into the national spotlight. Since then, he’s released his debut project Street Sermons, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, toured with J. Cole and 21 Savage, and earned a spot in the 2021 XXL Freshman Class. It’s all amounted to a successful year for Morray and he seems prepared to start the next chapter of her career. He returns with his first release of 2022 which pairs him with Cordae.

The two rappers bring their talents together for “Still Here,” a track that arrives as a consistent reminder to overcome all the odds in front of them as they’ve been able to do just that in the past. The song is also delivered with a matching video that sees Morray enjoying time with friends when’s unfortunately arrested which leaves him another obstacle to overcome. It’s a strong follow-up to “Never Fail,” which Morray released with Benny The Butcher at the end of last year. Prior to that, he connected with Tyla Yaweh for “Hands Up.”

As for Cordae, he’s fresh off the release of his second album From A Birds Eye View. That project delivered 14 songs and features from Gunna, Lil Wayne, HER, Lil Durk, Freddie Gibbs, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Roddy Ricch, and Ant Clemons.

Apparently, Miley Cyrus Thanked Lizzo For Her TED Talk On The Black History Of Twerking

Lizzo might be the modern expert on twerking, never afraid to get her “heinie” (as she calls it) out there and get it shaking. And that’s especially important because of the Black history of twerking that has been all but erased from the modern understanding of it, where young white teens are imitating the dance on TikTok with no real understanding of the context they’re appropriating.

That’s part of why Lizzo felt so compelled to make a whole TED Talk about the history of the dance, rather gently bringing up how Miley Cyrus’ lighting rod performance, which included some twerking, at the 2013 VMAs catapulted the dance to mainstream attention — and did so in a way that didn’t do the best job of honoring its origins. And apparently, Miley actually took the conversation in stride, mentioning to Lizzo that she watched the TED Talk herself and “really loved it.”

“I mention Miley Cyrus in my TED Talk,” Lizzo told People in a recent interview. “And I’m very delicate with how I mention her because, at the end of the day, I didn’t want to have any bias in the way I talked about how she brought twerking to mainstream. The messenger is kind of how this thing spread like it did — seeing her at the VMAs. And I saw her recently and she was like, ‘I watched your TED Talk and I really loved it. Thank you for that.’”

Stay classy Miley, that’s the appropriate response. If you haven’t watched it yet, check out Lizzo’s love letter to twerking up top.

Drake Has Been Sued For A Third Time Over The Sample Behind ‘In My Feelings’ And ‘Nice For What’

Back in 2019, a little over a year after Drake released his fifth album Scorpion, Drake was hit with a lawsuit over his No. 1 songs “In My Feelings” and “Nice For What.” Both songs were played a big role in the success of Scorpion, but according to Sam Skully (whose real name is Samuel Nicholas III), the track wrongfully sampled aspects of his 2000 song “Roll Call (Instrumental)” in the respective tracks. Skully’s first lawsuit was dismissed, as was his second case, because he failed to actually litigate them. However, according to Billboard, Skully has filed his third lawsuit against Drake alleging copyright infringement over “In My Feelings” and “Nice For What.”

In the lawsuit, Skully claims that aspects of “Roll Call (Instrumental)” were sampled and added to the records from Scorpion by the songs’ producer BlaqNmilD, whose real name Adam J. Pigott. Skully claims that Pigott used the same sample in other records that he worked on for other artists. However, Pigott’s representatives say that both he and Skully used the same sample from a 1986 record by legendary Queens hip hop duo The Showboys.

“It is this song, ‘Drag Rap (Triggerman),’ that Adam had indeed sampled for the compositions in question,” BlaqNmilD’s manager Craig E. Baylis says. “The Showboys will attest that Adam ensured that they were contacted for all proper clearances. Our question is, has the plaintiff done the same?”

Asylum Records, Cash Money Records, Republic Records, and New Orleans legend Big Freedia were also named in the lawsuit. Skully’s lawyer, Mark Edward Andrews, and representatives Drake and Warner Music Group did not return requests for comment from Billboard.

Donald Glover Reveals The ‘Extremely Petty’ Reason That Pushed Him To Make ‘Awaken, My Love!’

After the success of his second album Because The Internet, Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, reached new heights in 2016 with the release of his third album Awaken, My Love! The project was a large shift in the sound that was present on Because The Internet, as Glover had songs that featured him singing as opposed to rapping along with production that combined psychedelic soul, funk, and R&B. As of today, Awaken, My Love! is Glover’s most successful album and during a recent appearance on LeBron James’ HBO show The Shop, he explained what inspired him to create the album.

“Did you ever tap into something that is in you that you feel is kind of bad to win?” Childish Gambino asked the group that included Lebron and Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson. “Because I struggle with that. I am naturally petty. Like, extremely petty” He revealed that he made Awaken, My Love! to prove an unnamed critic wrong. “Awaken, My Love was literally because somebody said, ‘Oh, he can’t make a hit.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, not only will I make a hit, I won’t make a single video for it.’”

After its release in December 2016, Awaken, My Love became his highest-charting release after it debuted at No. 5 on the albums chart. The project also birthed Glover’s most successful single with “Redbone” which peaked at No. 12 on the singles chart and is currently 5X Platinum.

Ice-T’s Take On ‘The Situation’ With Russia Is Being Held Out As More Sensible Than Any Policy ‘Expert’

Whenever global catastrophe unfolds, almost everyone’s bound to have an opinion (while also watching on in horror), and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is no exception. Some current takes (Chris Evans directing people to stories of Russia’s history of atrocities towards rivals) are more productive than others (John Cena deciding to promote Peacemaker or AnnaLynne McCord performing spoken-word poetry), and Ice-T’s taking the commonsensical approach.

That’s what the interpretation has been as Ice-T — he of the no-BS Twitter threads — delivered his observation, in which he definitely does not pull an incomprehensible Steven Seagal move. Rather, Ice is dropping his truth as he sees fit.

“Here’s the Situation,” the SVU mainstay and Body Count frontman tweeted. “As soon as the US fires ONE bullet at a Russian solider. From the Ground or Air…. WE are at War with Russia. Not good.”

People are here for this analysis, and they’re praising the man who portrays Fin Tutuola, not only for speaking out without bashing anyone else, but for having a much more levelheaded take on foreign policy than the talking heads (with credentials, even including former ambassadors and professors) on cable news.

Ice-T for public office? No way, man. He’s got more productive things to do in between telling the world, “Russia is definitely on that BullSh*t.”
