Diddy Lost “Any Given Sunday” Role To Jamie Foxx For This Reason

Diddy lost out on a role in Any Given Sunday due to his inability to convincingly throw a football. According to Bill Bellamy, Diddy was director Oliver Stone’s first choice for the role of William Beaman, the team’s jaded third-string quarterback. “The first offer was out to Puffy. We have a workout at USC. There is no way you can be in Any Given Sunday if you’re not an athlete. I don’t give a f-ck what’s on your résumé. If you’re going for the quarterback, you gotta be able to throw. So they said, ‘Okay, Sean Combs. Sean, let’s go!’ He gets under the quarterback. He’s gonna be mad when I say this, thisi shit is crazy. So they said, ‘Hut!’ And he goes back. You know how you throw with your left hand, with your weak hand? That was his regular hand. They said, ‘Thank you’,” Bellamy said.

The role would eventually go to Jamie Foxx instead. The film was a commercial success, nearly doubling its $55M budget. Stone has also previously spoken about passing on Diddy. “[Diddy] was not really a natural athlete, so we waited him out. The bigger issue was the arm,” he said. “He just didn’t have the throwing ability, and you can’t double him, because it’s going to look phony,” Stone told Entertainment Weekly.

Diddy Looks To Fix His Three-Point Shot

However, it’s not just throwing a tight spiral that Diddy reportedly struggles with. In recent weeks, Diddy revealed that he’s working with basketball influencer Lethal Shooter to help improve his three-point shooting. In footage shared by HipHopDX, Diddy described his current ability as the “worst shot a Black man can have” and is hoping the star trainer can help him develop some respectability from three.

Diddy is almost the polar opposite of Rich Paul, who had a very different claim about his three-point shooting. “I would be one of the best shooters in the league. Me, Dame, Steph, Klay. If we’re just talking shooting, this is the class I’m in. Trae, Darius Garland. I’m talking about guys who shoot the three really well,” Paul said on Club Shay Shay last month.

Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Best Global Music Performance

On November 10, the nominations for the 2024 Grammys were announced. One of the ceremony’s newer categories, the Best Global Music Performance Award, has only had two recipients so far. It was first presented to Arooj Aftab for “Mohabbat” at the 2022 ceremony. This win made her the first-ever Pakistani artist to be presented with a Grammy. Subsequently, the next winners were the South African trio Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode.

The award for Best Global Music Performance is presented in recognition of influential music worldwide. Regardless of its delayed arrival, it’s certainly a step in the right direction by the Recording Academy. In a tight race, here are the nominees for the 2024 Grammys in the Best Global Music Performance category.

“Feel” – Davido

“Feel” is a standout track from Davido’s fourth studio album, Timeless (2023). The Nigerian singer finally has his first Grammy nod, receiving three impressive nominations for the 2024 ceremony, including Best African Music Performance. With the recent rise of Afrobeats around the world, it’s no surprise that he is being recognized. Without a doubt, he has been a significant contributor to the growth and expansion of the genre over the years, so fans have celebrated his acknowledgment by the Recording Academy since it was first announced. In a matter of months, Davido could potentially take home his first statuette at the 2024 Grammys.

“Shadow Forces” – Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shahzad Ismaily

Arooj Aftab’s musical talent has caught the attention of the Recording Academy twice before now. Besides her win for “Mohabbat” in 2022, she was nominated for the Best New Artist award in the same year. This time, she is also joined by Vijay Iyer, who has received a Grammy nomination once before, and Shahzad Ismaily, a first-time nominee. “Shadow Forces” is a 14-minute track from the trio’s 7-track collaborative album, Love in Exile (2023). If they secure the win at the 2024 Grammys, Iyer and Ismaily would be first-time winners. Aftab, however, would become a two-time Grammy winner.

“Milagro Y Desastre” – Silvana Estrada

Mexican songstress Silvana Estrada has been active in the music industry since 2017. The 26-year-old has built a promising career since then, releasing a couple of EPs and her debut album. Subsequently, she was nominated for two Latin Grammys in 2022, winning Best New Artist. Estrada has also earned her first-ever Grammy nomination at the upcoming 2024 ceremony. “Milagro y Desastre” was released as a single on May 31, 2023.

“Abundance In Millets” – Falu & Guarav Shah ft. PM Narendra Modi

With her recognition in this category, Falu has bagged her third Grammy nomination. The singer, already a Grammy winner, won her first award in 2022 for Best Children’s Album. “Abundance in Millets” has other primary collaborators, however. In the song, she is joined by her husband, Guarav Shah, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Created to help promote millet and its benefits, “Abundance in Millets” has achieved more than expected. It may seem like an unlikely choice, but it has just as much of a winning chance as any song in this lineup. If it wins at the 2024 Grammys, Shah and Modi would be first-time winners.

“Pashto” – Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain ft. Rakesh Chaurasia

As far as achievements go, this group poses the biggest threat to the other nominees on the list. All three primary artists on “Pashto” have been previously recognized by the Recording Academy, winning several awards. Béla Fleck, a Grammy veteran, has taken home 15 awards across several categories since 1996. Likewise, Edgar Meyer has five Grammys to his name, and Zakir Hussein took home the Contemporary World Music Album award in 2009. Rakesh Chairasia, the only first-time nominee here, could become a Grammy winner as well if “Pashto” wins next year.

“Todo Colores” – Ibrahim Maalouf ft. Cimafunk & Tank And The Bangas

“Todo Colores” is another collaboration by a group of performers the Recording Academy has recognized before. This is the second Grammy nomination for both Ibrahim Maalouf and Cimafunk. However, for Tank and the Bangas, it is the group’s third Grammy nomination yet. If  “Todo Colores” emerges victorious at the 2024 Grammys, it would be the first-ever statuette received by all three musical acts.

“Alone” – Burna Boy

Altogether, Burna Boy has now amassed 10 nominations across several categories. Additionally, all of his last four albums have been nominated in the Best Global Music Album category. His first and only win so far was for his fifth album, Twice as Tall. At the 2024 Grammys, he could very well add another win, seeing as he’s been nominated for four awards. “Alone” was recorded for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie soundtrack and is evidently one of its standout tracks.

Playboi Carti Promises New Album Is “Coming Soon” Amid Rescheduled Europe Tour

SHOCKING NEWS: Playboi Carti is still teasing his new album with no concrete release date, single, or announcement in sight… and we can’t wait for it to land sometime in 2036. Jokes aside, there’s actually a few reasons as to why this particular hint has a bit more weight to it than usual. Moreover, he and the rest of his Opium crew (Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and Homixide Gang) rescheduled their European Antagonist tour. Not only that, but this tour also hinted at the Atlanta MC being in album more, since this is a good promotional opportunity. Recently, DJ Akademiks and other outlets shared an official press release that blends these two worlds together.

“Playboi Carti Antagonist Tour UK and Europe dates rescheduled,” the statement reads. “New album coming soon. Opium label signees Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and Homixide Gang set to support tour.” This is the second postponement that Antagonist faced. First announced in July of this year for a September start date in the U.S., it then changed to a European kickoff in November, followed by winter United States dates. From what Ticketmaster indicates at press time, the winter U.S. dates still stand, while the European shows don’t have an official rescheduled date.

Playboi Carti’s New Press Release: Rescheduled Dates & New Album Dropping Soon

Of course, what most fans really care about concerning this press release is that Playboi Carti is hopefully dropping an album very soon. Furthermore, this follows an avalanche of leaks, acclaimed performances, low-profile social media activity, and the general buzz that such an ardent fanbase creates around the most minute of details. We can’t say that we didn’t fall into this excitement, either. After all, Whole Lotta Red is as relevant as ever despite the “Choppa Won’t Miss” MC’s legal trouble.

As such, there’s a lot of excitement for what his next phase will look like: will it be a completely new sound or are we revisiting his Cash Carti, psych-punk, or vamp era? While these rescheduled dates are very unfortunate, hopefully it means that the Opium crew will be able to give fans the show that they want and deserve, and also an experience that they feel proud and able to present, as well. Let’s see if we’ll get another Christmastime drop or if this is just one more crumpled up piece of paper in the “Anticipated Drops” trash bin. Carti’s been overflowing that for years, but as long as the new album is good, we’ll happily wait. On that note, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Playboi Carti.

Beyonce’s Shocking Vegas Residency Budget Unveiled

It’s no secret that Beyonce puts on groundbreaking performances, but they certainly don’t come without a cost. According to new reports, the hitmaker is in talks with officials at the Las Vegas Sphere about the potential of her doing a residency there next year. The budget she’s requested is pretty shocking. She’s said to be asking for a $10 million budget for production.

While the number is tough to fathom, it’s on par with what U2 requested for their 36-show stint at the Nevada venue. They were the first and only act to have a residency there, and they’ll wrap things up in February. According to source, Bey’s mother Tina Knowles as well as her husband Jay-Z have already toured the facility separately, which seems to suggest that the Texas native is seriously considering it.

The deal may come down to whether or not Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan is up for the massive budget. Reportedly, her number might be a tad high, as she’d be guaranteed portion of the arena’s ticket sales. After the success of her Renaissance tour, however, it’s safe to say that seats would be filled. A potential Vegas residency isn’t the only thing Beyonce has to look forward to, either. Earlier this week, the first trailer for her upcoming concert film RENAISSANCE: A FILM BY BEYONCÉ dropped.

The eagerly-awaited film debuts in theaters on December 1, and obviously, fans can’t wait. The trailer only managed to build anticipation for the release, depicting levels of grandiosity that one would expect from a Beyonce project. “In this world that is very male-dominated, I’ve had to be really tough. To balance motherhood and being on this stage, it just reminds me of who I really am,” she says in the dramatic voiceover. What do you think of the budget Beyonce’s set for her potential Vegas residency? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Andre 3000 Says Writing Raps “Feel Inauthentic” To Him

This week, Andre 3000 has rushed back into the public eye. That came after he announced his new album New Blue Sun. The announcement surprised fans as Andre has repeatedly denied speculation that he was working on a new project. But he quickly set expectations for fans by confirming that there would be “no bars.” The project is expected to be entirely instrumental and in a new interview with GQ he dove into why there isn’t any rapping included on the project.

“I’ve worked with some of the newest, freshest, youngest, and old-school producers. I get beats all the time. I try to write all the time. […] Even now people think, Oh, man, he’s just sitting on raps, or he’s just holding these raps hostage. I ain’t got no raps like that,: he explained. But despite his best efforts, he hasn’t conjured much material he believes in. ““It actually feels…sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don’t have anything to talk about in that way. I’m 48 years old. And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does,” he explained. Check out the full interview below.

Andre 3000 Explains Why He Isn’t Dropping Rap Music

Shortly after announcing his new album, Andre 3000 also shared the tracklist. It features numerous exceedingly long and very rambling song titles. “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A “Rap” Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time” and “Dreams Once Buried Beneath The Dungeon Floor Slowly Sprout Into Undying Gardens” are just two of the tracks the album has to offer.

Andre also revealed that he’s shared some of the new music from the album with friends already. Included are some high-profile names like Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator whom Andre specifically cited playing the album for. What do you think of Andre 3000’s reasons for not dropping much rap music as of late? Let us know in the comment section below.

When Does Baby Keem’s ‘The Melodic Blue’ Movie Come Out?

The Hillbillies, more or less an alter-ego duo of cousins Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, headlined Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival last weekend. Before their set, a mysterious trailer played on the stage’s screen for what we now know to be Baby Keem’s forthcoming The Melodic Blue visual. This morning, November 16, a press release confirmed that The Melodic Blue will be available to globally stream on Amazon Prime Video on December 5.

“Keem’s internal battle leads us through fragments of memory and temptation as he navigates the depths of The Melodic Blue,” the press release teased.

The Melodic Blue first arrived as Baby Keem’s major-label debut album in September 2021, which Uproxx’s Wongo Okon reviewed as “Baby Keem’s attempt to balance his individuality with a reduced dose of his trademarked chaotic energy.” Keem dropped a deluxe version in October 2022.

According to the press release, The Melodic Blue visual was directed by Savannah Setten. It stars acclaimed actress Amandla Stenberg opposite Keem, Shakira Ja’nai Paye, Francis Lovehall, and Séréna Sy. The visual presented by Eerie Times, pgLang, and Amazon Music was co-executive produced Keem, Kendrick Lamar, and Dave Free. Jamie Rabineau and Cornell Brown are also credited producers.

André 3000 Actually Tries To Write Raps ‘All The Time’ But Explained Why ‘It Feels Inauthentic’ Sometimes

andre-3000-getty-top.jpg

André 3000 is keenly aware that fans have been desperate for an album from him since Outkast’s 2006 disbanding. The iconic rapper has addressed it several times, including in December 2019, when he told Rick Rubin that an album was “just not coming” because ” my focus is not there; my confidence is not there.” Really, André 3000 has appeared perhaps his most publicly confident when playing his flute to strangers, so it should come as no surprise that his long-awaited, newly announced solo album, New Blue Sun, is purely instrumental.

In a newly published GQ cover profile, André 3000 explained why New Blue Sun is not a rap album.

“I’ve worked with some of the newest, freshest, youngest, and old-school producers,” he told writer Zach Baron. “I get beats all the time. I try to write all the time. […] Even now people think, Oh, man, he’s just sitting on raps, or he’s just holding these raps hostage. I ain’t got no raps like that.”

He continued, “It actually feels…sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don’t have anything to talk about in that way. I’m 48 years old. And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does. And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? ‘I got to go get a colonoscopy.’ What are you rapping about? ‘My eyesight is going bad.’ You can find cool ways to say it, but….”

Not-so-coincidentally, the opening track on New Blue Sun is titled “I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.”

Why Is Snoop Dogg Quitting Smoking Weed?

Why Is Snoop Dogg Quitting Smoking Weed?

Earlier today Snoop Dogg shocked the world by announcing that he’s “giving up smoke” after conversations with his family. And while he requested that his privacy be respected, one can’t help but wonder… WHY is Snoop Dogg giving up smoking, after basically building his brand on it for the past 30 years?

It’s not the first time Snoop said he was going cold turkey on his favorite vegetable. In January this year, Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired a 20-year retrospective in which Snoop declared he was quitting weed back in 2003. After asking Snoop what he remembered from their first episode (“organized confusion”), Kimmel recalled Snoop telling him he quite smoking marijuana and asked him how that was going. “Well, I guess I’ve relapsed,” Snoop joked before experiencing a bit of word flight. “See? That’s what happens,” Jimmy quipped.

Snoop, who’s smoked with everyone from Ed Sheeran to (allegedly) Barack Obama, is so notorious for his love of the chronic that he’s had to shoot down smoke stories on rare occasions. Last year, his pre-game activities from the Super Bowl drew scrutiny from the New York Post (which then drew ridicule for the rag from the users of Twitter) and in November, he called out his supposed blunt roller for exaggerating the amount of weed he smokes in a day.

Until Snoop explains himself, though, all fans can do is speculate — and make jokes about their disbelief. Check out a few below.

Snoop Dogg Claims He’s Giving Up Smoking In New Instagram Post

Snoop Dogg is known for MANY things across his decades in the public eye. Due to his willingness to show up just about anywhere and try anything, he’s appeared in all kinds of places doing all kinds of things. But what he might be most well known for is being one of the biggest stoners in the world. But after decades of building and maintaining that reputation, he may be moving to put it behind him.

Earlier today, Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to share a post that many never thought they would see. “I’m giving up smoke” he captioned the picture, expanding on it in the image itself. “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” text over the picture reads. It’s a pretty scant statement that doesn’t give much explanation as to why. But that’s probably what has caused so much debate among fans in the comments. Check out the post itself and some of the reactions to it below.

Snoop Dogg Could Be Done Smoking

Many fans in the comments think that the post could be some kind of joke or marketing. “lies , but if u got some bud left over ill take it off your hands,” and “This April’s fools day change the date to November??” two of the top comments read. Others think he may just be shifting to a different kind of high. “Edibles possibly but that’s wild way she goes,” and “So gummies instead?” two other top comments suggest.

Last week, Snoop and T-Pain teamed up for a fun new single called “That’s How We Ballin.” Though the pair have crossed paths a handful of times in the past, though mostly on remixes of other artists songs. It’s one of many tracks Snoop has made an appearance on in 2023 as he continues to stay busy in a variety of mediums. Do you think Snoop Dogg is actually done smoking for good? Let us know in the comment section below.
