Drake Breaks Kendrick Lamar’s Record For Best-Selling Rap Tour

As the highest-grossing touring act of all time in hip-hop across his entire career, it’s no surprise that Drake can beat a few more records in this field. Moreover, his It’s All A Blur tour became the best-selling rap tour of all time- and that’s counting just 30 of the 72 shows on its schedule. This means that the 6 God beat out Kendrick Lamar’s The Big Steppers tour, which previously held claim to this milestone. K.Dot’s trek grossed around $110 million, whereas current calculations from Touring Data indicate that Drizzy earned about $130 million so far. Once we have data from the entirety of this concert series, that number will probably skyrocket.

Furthermore, perhaps this is an indicator of how successful these massive and mainstream hip-hop tours must be to warrant a seat at the table. Drake could very well raise this record by more than double if these numbers are accurate, creating a lot of safe distance between him and whoever is number two in this race. Other high-profile treks like Travis Scott’s current UTOPIA run, Lil Uzi Vert’s The Pink Tape shows, and many others could also find themselves in contention. But getting these kinds of profits with less than half of your concerts is a tough metric to reach.

Drake’s Estimated It’s All A Blur Tour Numbers So Far

For those unaware, the It’s All A Blur tour is getting yet another collaborative leg in the U.S. Its first iteration was alongside 21 S*vage, and in early 2024, Drake will hit the road once again- this time with J. Cole– for the trek’s second leg: the Big As The What? run. Surely, this additional collection of performances will be equally as acclaimed and popular, especially with another artist who people consider the GOAT. It’s actually quite curious that their other competition, at least when it comes to gross tour sales, is the other candidate in that three-headed race. Also, given the possible differences in pricing points, it’s unclear whether this tour was simply more expensive or got more people into its seats, and many will argue about whether that’s a valid achievement to boast about.

Meanwhile, with the lyrically dense and sonically classic expansion to For All The Dogs, Scary Hours 3, it’s nice to hear that Aubrey Graham is treating the rap game more like a competition and proving his worth. It’s boring for sales to be your main point of dominance, even if he’s still as culturally influential and popular as ever. Once a titan brings the bars out, their place in hip-hop stardom is a much more treasured and interesting type of contested reign. Nevertheless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Drake.

DJ Khaled Roasted Over Birdman & Lil Wayne Comments

During his recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, DJ Khaled recalled knowing Birdman and Lil Wayne before they got famous. According to him, he knew a plethora of major artists before they made it big, which explains all of his A-list connections. Some commenters are calling cap on his claims, however, arguing that Birdman and Lil Wayne had already blown up by the time DJ Khaled developed a relationship with them.

“I was there when Lil Wayne met Birdman,” DJ Khaled explained. “I used to work at a record store in New Orleans called Odyssey Records and Lil Wayne used to go to the record store and I used to DJ at the record store … Birdman and them used to pull up to the record store and out the trunk bring cassettes at that time. This was before they had their deal.

DJ Khaled On His Relationship With Birdman & Lil Wayne

He went on, describing how Birdman would drop off cassettes that would sell out in a heartbeat. “I’m just trying to show you how I worked with the biggest artists. I’ve known them for so long… Majority of the biggest artists that we all love out here, I came up with them at that time,” he said. “I was either younger or we was grinding at the same time and we end up as building this relationship. So when you see a Ross or a Wayne or a Future – I remember me and Future before Future was Future. The beginning of my career, yeah I was around all the greats, but they were becoming the greats. You know that saying, ‘I was there’? I was there.”

“Cap,” one commenter on DJ Akademiks’ Instagram repost says. “Birdman & Weezy was already famous back in the day While Khaled was In Pakistan Sellin Street food.” Another says, “N***a Birdman Knew Wayne Since He Was A Kid, thus Sh*t Cap.” What do you think of people accusing DJ Khaled of lying about knowing Lil Wayne and Birdman before they blew up? Do you think he’s telling the truth? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

In a memorable moment, Lil Scrappy proposed to Dixon at the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta reunion. It was a grand gesture that promised a happily-ever-after for the couple. But most importantly, it was a way that the couple could take things to the next level. The reunion also featured drama involving Shay “Buckee” Johnson, whom Scrappy dated behind Erica’s back during the season. March 2013: Public Breakup & Reconciliation Rumors

However, not all was well. By 2014, the engagement was off, and the couple decided to part ways. The split was highly publicized, involving a mix of personal and professional issues. After their public split, rumors swirled about a potential reconciliation when they were spotted together in Miami. Momma Dee, Scrappy’s mother, alleged that Erica and Scrappy were still romantically involved despite public statements to the contrary.

This claim added another layer of speculation and rumor to their already strained relationship dynamic. Speculation was further fueled when Scrappy’s then-girlfriend, Bambi, confirmed her breakup with him. But Erica Dixon revealed that a reconciliation was not in sight. During an interview on Bossip’s Don’t Be Scared podcast, she discussed her issues with Lil Scrappy. She mentioned that Lil Scrappy owed her $45,000 in child support. Dixon explained that her ex-partner had been “penny-pinching” and seemed to undervalue the financial aspects of supporting their child.

She highlighted her efforts to collaborate with Scrappy for their child’s welfare. She expressed her disappointment in his approach to parenting. Dixon indicated that his presence in their child’s life was sufficient. But to her, this overlooked the broader responsibilities. Additionally, Erica confirmed that she had obtained a restraining order against Scrappy. She cited the need for it due to past behaviors. In a notable shift, Scrappy publicly declared his intention to put their differences aside for their daughter’s sake. He emphasized the importance of being good parents and avoiding public disputes and negativity.

2023: Lil Scrappy & Erica Dixon’s Co-Parenting Efforts

In 2023, the pair were again at the center of public attention due to their joint appearance in Hawaii for Erica’s birthday. Erica addressed the rumors on Instagram, emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting and maintaining a positive relationship for the sake of their daughter. She said, “I ultimately have to have a relationship, deal with him forever because we do share a child. Emani is going to get married one day, have kids and [we gon] share a grandchild. Like we just gon forever be family.”

Despite their personal differences, Lil Scrappy and Erica Dixon have made efforts to be there for their daughter’s significant life events. They’ve celebrated important milestones in Emani’s life publicly. For instance, her parents came together to send her to her 8th-grade formal. Emani accompanied her father to the BET Hip Hop Awards, a gesture by Lil Scrappy to reward her for her hard work in school, demonstrating their special bond. Lil Scrappy has expressed his desire not to repeat past mistakes in co-parenting and to ensure a better environment for his children.

Erica Dixon has also spoken about their co-parenting, highlighting that they are in a good space and focused on providing a peaceful and supportive environment for Emani. For her 17th birthday, Emani’s parents gave her an Audi. This gift not only symbolized a rite of passage into adulthood but also showed the joint efforts of Lil Scrappy and Erica Dixon in celebrating their daughter’s milestones. Both parents shared their joy and pride in Emani on social media, with heartfelt messages expressing their love and wishes for her future.

Diddy’s Former Artist Aubrey O’Day Showed Support For Cassie: ‘Been Trynna Tell Y’all For Years’

After it was reported earlier this week that “Me & U” singer Cassie had filed a lawsuit against producer and label owner Sean “Diddy” Combs alleging abuse and sexual assault, one of Diddy’s former Bad Boy artists has spoken up in support of her.

Aubrey O’Day, formerly of the girl group Danity Kane, posted on her Instagram Story, “Been trynna tell y’all for years. Prayers up for this queen.”

O’Day has gone on record several times about Diddy’s handling of the group and its formation on the show Making The Band, telling Vulture in 2019, “Puff is a very difficult person to work with. Everything had to be perfect. I remember times where he looked at my toenails and was like, ‘What is your third toenail doing? Go get that sh*t fixed before you walk into a room.’ Or we would be in rehearsals performing an hour-and-a-half set over and over and he would walk in for five minutes with a camera and say, ‘Aubrey, why are you sweating? You look like a wet dog. You’re the hot one, so do you think anyone wants to see that?’ … I experienced everything from race [remarks] to sexism and a lot of it was scary.”

Although O’Day expressed hope that the music mogul had grown from his time as her mentor, she also noted that the problems with sexism in the music industry go way beyond Diddy. More recently, she also said that Diddy’s recently relinquishing former artists’ publishing came with strings attached — namely, that those artists would have to sign NDAs promising to “never disparage Puff, Bad Boy, Janice Combs, Justin Combs Music, EMI, or Sony ever in public.”

Meanwhile, Diddy is currently under investigation by the NYPD, although it’s unclear whether it’s connected to the lawsuit.

Tyla And Travis Scott’s ‘Water’ Remix Revels In Long-Distance Romance

Travis Scott dials in on the remix of Tyla‘s hit single “Water,” showing off his knowledge of country codes (“It’s +27 when I dial in”) and adding his H-Town touch to extend the song’s success. The single otherwise remains unchanged, still featuring that mellow amapiano backing beat sprinkled with hints of Nigerian Afropop topped with Tyla’s silky, seductive vocals.

That’s a good thing, though, because if it ain’t broke, you don’t have to fix it. The OG was good enough to net the South African singer her first-ever Grammy nomination and her US television debut just a few years into her career, and she’s only likely to go up from there.

Travis, likewise, looks to benefit from the collaboration after semi-successfully bouncing back from the 2021 Astroworld Festival disaster. While he said he’s “devastated” by it in his first interview since then, he’s enjoyed a subdued renewal of his former popularity with his new album Utopia reuniting him with the top spot on the Billboard 200 and its accompanying tour receiving a warm enough reception. He has also returned to feature appearances on other artists’ songs; in addition to the “Water” remix, he also offered a verse on Kid Cudi’s new song “At The Party.”

You can listen to the remix of “Water” above.

Yo Gotti & Angela Simmons: Their Love Story

As 2023 dawned, the hip-hop world was taken by surprise as Yo Gotti and his new girlfriend, Angela Simmons, declared their relationship on Instagram. This announcement was a revelation of a new celebrity couple and the culmination of a love story that had been years in the making. According to XXL, the pair “made their relationship official on Instagram,” a significant step for two public figures in the limelight for so long. Here, we’re exploring their journey from a lyrical crush to a public romance, all while navigating personal challenges and media speculation. It paints a picture of a love story full of surprises, set against the backdrop of the hip-hop world.

October 2015: The Lyric That Sparked A Flame

It all began in 2015 when Yo Gotti released his track “Down in the DM,” where he publicly expressed his admiration for Angela Simmons, the daughter of Reverend Run of the legendary rap group Run DMC. This wasn’t just a typical shout-out in a rap song but a candid confession of a crush. Gotti’s words, “And I just followed Angela (Simmons)/Boy, I got a crush on Angela Simmons,” as reported by XXL, were bold and unfiltered, setting the stage for what was to come.

Yo Gotti and Angela Simmons’ relationship is a notable example of how public declarations of affection can evolve into a real connection. By him first expressing affection towards Simmons through his music, this showed early signs of a spark that could form between the two, even if nothing would transpire and Simmons wouldn’t become Yo Gotti’s girlfriend until years later.

November 2018: Tragedy & Strength

Amid this unfolding love story, Angela faced personal tragedy when her ex-fiancé, Sutton Tennyson, was fatally shot. This played an important part in Angela’s life, as she struggled with loss and the responsibilities of being a single mother. The tragic shooting of her ex-fiancé in November 2018 deeply impacted her. Tennyson was shot and killed in his driveway in Atlanta, and the suspect, Michael Williams, was charged with murder, among other charges.

Tennyson and Simmons shared a son named Sutton Joseph. Following Tennyson’s death, Simmons expressed her grief and shock on social media, vowing to support their son. She described her son as her “greatest gift” and shared tributes to Tennyson, emphasizing her commitment to raising their son with strength and love. The tragedy hit Simmons hard, but she admits in an interview on Tamron Hall’s show that going through therapy helped her cope with the situation and move on.

In another track, “Save It For Me,” released when Simmons got engaged to Tennyson, Gotti rapped about his feelings for her. Although some time passed, Yo Gotti would eventually get to shoot his shot with Angela. Fast forward to 2023, and the once one-sided affection turned romantic. The couple chose the dawn of the new year to announce their relationship, a moment that XXL described as a transition from Gotti’s crush to his ladylove. Their Instagram posts were not just mere photos; they were a declaration of love and mutual admiration, marking the beginning of a new chapter. It was official now. Angela Simmons was Yo Gotti’s girlfriend!

Since the two have become official, he has made several romantic gestures to express his affection for Angela Simmons. One of the most notable was for her 36th birthday, where he arranged an extravagant display of pink rose bouquets, black Chanel boxes, white candles, and a saxophone player serenading Simmons against a backdrop of clear blue water and palm trees.

This grand gesture also included tribal dancers and a beautifully decorated dinner table on the beach. Gotti’s surprise visibly moved Simmons, as she shared her emotional response on her Instagram Stories, noting that the saxophone player played SWV’s hit “Weak” in the background and expressing how touched she was by the romantic setup.

August 2023: Love Affair In Music

In a romantic gesture, Yo Gotti released “The One,” accompanied by a music video starring Angela Simmons. PEOPLE Magazine exclusively premiered this video, showcasing the couple’s intimate moments in luxurious locales like Greece and Dubai. The video was a visual diary of their love, with Gotti rapping heartfelt lyrics about his feelings for Simmons.

The music video included scenes of them riding in a Rolls-Royce, going on shopping sprees, swimming, and sharing intimate moments. Simmons also appeared in Gotti’s “No Fake Love” music video, further emphasizing their romantic connection and her support for his career. Additionally, Simmons has shown her affection by gifting Gotti a Tesla for his birthday, highlighting the reciprocal nature of their relationship.

Despite the fairy-tale romance, the couple faced their share of challenges. Rumors of a breakup and Gotti’s alleged infidelity surfaced, but these remained unaddressed by the couple. In its coverage, Distractify delved into these swirling rumors, introducing further intrigue into their relationship. The publication cited an October 20 report from a gossip site, Gossip of the City, which claimed on a platform known as X (previously Twitter), that Yo Gotti might be involved with another woman, referred to as his “nurse boo.”

The report alleged that Gotti had spent time with this woman in Las Vegas at the Aria Hotel, conspicuously without Angela’s presence. The source speculated that this could indicate either a breakup between Gotti and Angela or potential infidelity, given Gotti’s time spent with someone else. Despite such rumors, the couple appeared unfazed, showcasing their bond through public appearances and social media.

Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Best Latin Pop Album

The nominations for the 2024 Grammys have been revealed, and a highly competitive category is the award for Best Latin Pop Album. The category was introduced in the 1984 Grammys ceremony and has been presented to many famous names since. Over the years it has undergone several name changes, but it has been known as “Best Latin Pop Album” since 2022. Since its inception, the category has seen a variety of artists from different Latin American countries win the award. Some notable winners include music icons like Shakira, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and the most recent recipient, Ruben Blades. With some first-timers in the running, here are the nominees for Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 Grammys.

Read More: Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Best Global Music Performance

La Cuarta Hoja – Pablo Alboran

Pablo Alboran gained widespread popularity when he released his self-titled debut album in 2011. The Latin Pop sensation has dropped many more projects since. Released on December 2, 2022, La Cuerta Hoja is Alboran’s sixth studio album. Upon its release, it became his sixth consecutive album to reach the top of the Spanish Albums Chart. It features production credits from Alboran himself, as well as Paco Salazar, Josh Tampico, Julio Reyez, and Orlando Aispuro Meneses. Of its 11 tracks, eight were released as singles, with the last being “4U.”

Alboran was first nominated for a Grammy back in 2016. However, he has yet to secure a win. Once again, the Recording Academy has recognized the Spanish singer for the excellence of La Cuarta Hoja. His fourth nomination in the Best Latin Pop Album category, this could finally earn him his first win.

Beautiful Humans, Vol. 1 – AleMor

Beautiful Humans, Vol. 1 is the sophomore album of Colombian-American musician rising star, AleMor. After kickstarting her career in the singing competition La Voz, she hasn’t looked back since. Following the announcement of the nominees for the 2024 Grammys, AleMor is now a first-time nominee. The Recording Academy has recognized her excellent work on Beautiful Humans. Except for Bruno Romano’s production on “Kintsugi,” the album was entirely produced by Juan Carlos Perez Soto. Additionally, all eight tracks feature guest appearances from artists such as Fabian Hernandez and Tiare among others. Compared to most other nominees on this list, AleMor is certainly an underdog. However, Beautiful Humans, Vol 1 is as much an excellent album as the other entries on the list.

A Ciegas – Paula Arenas

Paula Arenas demonstrated an early interest in music and began singing at a young age. Years later, that little girl has grown to become a Latin pop star. Released on May 19, 2023, A Ciegas is her sophomore album and has earned Arenas her second Grammy nomination. Julio Reyes Copello, Marcos Sanchez, Andres Guardado, Juan Pablo Vega, and Nicolas de Laspriellaall have production credits on A Ciegas. Additionally, collaborators include Jesus Navarro on “Dejame Llorarte,” and Manuel Medrano on “Puro Sentimiento.” While Arenas was previously nominated in this category in 2022, her album lost to Alex Cuba’s Mendo. A potential win for A Ciegas at the 2024 Grammys is right around the corner. However, the competition is pretty stiff, considering the other albums on this lineup.

La Neta – Pedro Capo

Throughout his career, Pedro Capo has released six studio albums. While he has been recognized for his works at the Latin Grammys, until now, Capo has not been nominated for any Grammy awards. La Neta, his most recent album released in 2022, finally caught the attention of the Recording Academy. “Volver a Casa” was solely produced by Richi Lopez. Besides that, Capo has production credits on all nine of the album’s other tracks. Additionally, Diego Contento produced alongside Capo on eight tracks. Furthermore, La Neta only features two guest appearances from Nejo and Lali.

Don Juan – Maluma

Since 2012’s Magia, Maluma has been on a mission to take over the world one Latin-infused album at a time. Now with six albums to his name, the Colombian singer has been fairly successful in achieving that. Don Juan, his most recent studio album, was released on August 25, 2023. Subsequently, the 25-track album earned him a second Grammy nomination in this category, and his third overall. Don Juan features production credits from Romeo Santos, Marc Anthony, and Edgar Barrera among others. Furthermore, some guest features on the album include Carin Leon on “Segun Quien,” and Don Omar on “Ojitos Chiquiticos.” If Don Juan earns Maluma the statuette at the 2024 Grammys, it would be the singer’s first Grammy win.

X Mi (Vol 1) – Gaby Moreno

A veteran of her craft, Moreno has been releasing albums since 2009 and now has 10 projects to her name. Her most recent album, X Mi (Vol. 1) was released on May 5, 2023, and contains seven acoustic tracks. Moreno is credited as both the performer and sole producer on the album. Additionally, the only track with a guest appearance is “Luna de Xalaju” which features Oscar Isaac. Following her nomination at the 2024 Grammys, Moreno has a chance to take home the gold after losing twice before.

Drake Flirts With Rosalia On New Song “Evil Ways”

Drake is no stranger to shooting his shot with fellow celebs. Overnight he broke his very short hiatus from releasing new music with the new Scary Hours Edition of his recently released For All The Dogs. The project added an additional 6 songs which have multiple shots fired at people like Joe Budden and Pusha T between them. It also has a reference to Latin music superstar Rosalia, but in that case it’s a lot friendlier.

Among the new tracks there’s only one new feature. Drake teams up with J. Cole on the song “Evil Ways.” It’s on that track that Drizzy spits the bar “Next time I get in Rosalía face / I hope she tell her people that we need some space.” While he’s never collaborated with Rosalia, she does have a song with his frequent collaborator The Weeknd called “LA FAMA.” Earlier this year, Rosalia ended her engagement with fellow Latin music star Rauw Alejandro. As a result, dating rumors have followed her ever since though she hasn’t been connected to Drake himself yet. Listen to the full song below.

Drake Shoots His Shot With Rosalia

Following the release of the new EP Drake and J. Cole announced extended dates on their joint tour. “It’s All A Blur Tour – Big As The What?” will extend into 2024 with the new dates in a variety of American cities. The original leg of the tour which saw Drizzy teaming up with 21 Savage ended last month with an explosive final show in Toronto.

Despite Drake claiming that he intended to take a break from releasing new music, it didn’t last long. Many fans cite his ongoing beef with Joe Budden as the reason why he returned so quickly. Budden has pretty harsh criticism of For All The Dogs which sparked an ongoing back and forth between the two online. What do you think of Drake shooting his shot with Rosalia on one of his new songs? Let us know in the comment section below.

Cardi B On Rumors She’s Quitting Music: “I Never Said I Was Taking A Hiatus”

Cardi B always causes a bit of a firestorm with her social media presence, whether it’s a defense of Will Smith against scandalous accusations or her thought on her grievances with the world on IG Live. Since it’s such an unfiltered form of communication that’s easy to misconstrue, it’s no wonder why she has to clarify things often. Moreover, fans recently thought that the Bronx MC announced that she’s taking a break from music based on some Instagram Live comments on Thursday (November 16). When fans started to get this rumor mill going, pleading for her to stay or celebrating this supposed hiatus, she made her intentions clear on Twitter later that day.

I never said I was taking a hiatus,” Cardi B tweeted. “I’m just continuing with my social media break like I have been for the last few weeks. Not sure why that’s causing such a ruckus. BG ya know where to catch me!” This is what she said on IG Live that had people making assumptions: “Y’all might not see me for a long time, ’cause I’m just not in the mood to be famous,” the “Bongos” superstar expressed. “If y’all wanna see me y’all go to Arizona to the Tik Tok concert. Other than that I’ve been liking my low key life.”

Cardi B Clears Up Confusion About Her Presumed Hiatus

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that her out-of-context comments got misinterpreted as an actual announcement. Back in October, Cardi B suggested she would scrap her upcoming new album and that she feels detached and unmotivated to make music right now. However, she clarified shortly after this sentiment that she just felt bogged down and overwhelmed by online hate and let it get the best of her. Hopefully the 31-year-old can keep separating these two endeavors and not allow the online noise to get to the head of her artistry.

Meanwhile, even if that becomes a tougher challenge, taking this social media break is very rarely a negative thing. After all, she deserves more time to spend with her family, friends, and on her own personal life that isn’t broadcasted out to an audience. But Bardi loves to share her journey, so all we need to know is that, if it isn’t an announcement, we shouldn’t take what she expresses emotionally as gospel. Drake Fans Thank Joe Budden For “Scary Hours 3”

Drake dropped his eagerly-anticipated new EP Scary Hours 3 recently, delivering six new tracks to his fans. The release came only weeks after the hitmaker unveiled his latest full-length album For All The Dogs, and fans were under the impression that he’d be taking some time off. They were quickly proven wrong, however, and jumped to theorize as to why Drake changed his mind.

Back at the beginning of October, Joe Budden shared his thought on For All The Dogs during an episode of his podcast. He had some harsh words for the LP, revealing that he thought Drake missed the mark. “I miss the Drake that was rapping for the rappers,” he explained.

Fans Think Joe Budden’s Criticism Inspired Drake

Famously, Drake fired back with a lengthy Instagram comment, dragging Budden for his critique. This resulted in a bit of back and forth, subliminal dissing, and more. While some thought Budden went too hard on the Toronto native, others think his criticism was just what Drake needed, and inspired him to drop Scary Hours 3.

The EP’s getting praised on social media for its straightforward bars, which are just what Budden said he felt like For All The Dogs was missing. Of course, he also took some shots at the personality on his track “Stories About My Brothers,” painting a similar picture of Budden that he did in his aforementioned Instagram rant. “Imagine us getting our validation from an ex-musician searching for recognition/ Same story every time, they heckle in repetition/ I’m top of the mountain, these n***as still down at base camp, they planning they expedition,” he spits.
