Jimmy Iovine Is Reportedly Facing Allegations Of Sexual Misconduct And Abuse

On Wednesday evening, November 22, Pitchfork reported that Jimmy Iovine, co-founder of Interscope Records, is facing allegations of “sexual misconduct and abuse.” A summons was filed earlier in the day in Supreme Court of the State of New York County. The publication specified, “Only the summons has been filed; the lawsuit itself is forthcoming.” The woman filing is publicly identified as Jane Doe.

“Doe claims that she was ‘sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation’ in August 2007,” Pitchfork‘s Evan Minsker wrote. “The lawsuit against Iovine is for assault and battery, as well as violations of the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act and the New York City Human Right Law.”

Billboard additionally relayed that the filing attorneys on Doe’s behalf are Douglas Wigdor and Meredith Firetog of Wigdor Law. Because only a summons has been filed, “the full complaint is not yet available.” However, Billboard was able to confirm the following: “The case includes an accusation of ‘multiple instances’ of abuse along with a specific incident of sexual misconduct that occurred in New York in 2007. The woman is seeking economic and compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and costs.”

Iovine co-founded Interscope in 1990 and remained at the head of the label until his departure from Interscope Geffen A&M in May 2014 (as relayed by Billboard at the time). In 2006, Iovine and Dr. Dre co-founded Beats By Dr. Dre (more commonly known as Beats). They sold to Apple for a reported $3 billion in 2014 “and helped launch Apple Music,” as reported by The New York Times in December 2019.

Iovine retired from Apple in 2018. The 70-year-old was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last November — receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Lupe Fiasco, the legendary Chicago rapper, stated a couple of days ago that he would give the fans what they wanted. In a tweet just last week, he said, “Gonna rap all over that 3stacks album and put it in the time capsule for future generations.” Many people were very excited about this seeing as Lupe can rap basically over any type of instrumental. That includes all sorts of live instrumentation, heavy 808s, or boom-bap beats. Well, he has officially lived up to that promise, as we have the first taster as to what we can hope to expect. Of course, the Andre 3000 album he is referring to is his all-woodwind instrumental project, New Blue Sun.

The eight-song LP has been well-received by the music community as even into the 48-year-old’s career, ‘Dre is still reinventing himself. There are so many other unique characteristics of this effort. The song titles really do not have a lot of meaning and are essentially sentences. They might mean something to Andre, though. Additionally, each song is around 10 minutes in average length.

Teddy Pendergrass’ Widow Responds To Tyrese’s Lawsuit

Back in September, it was revealed that Tyrese had decided to take legal action against Teddy Pendergrass’ widow Joan over rights to his biopic. He claimed to have been working on the biopic since 2013 through his company Voltron Entertainment. Tyrese alleged that the company invested roughly $450K into both the biopic and a book about Pendergrass’ life. He was reportedly seeking $1 million in damages or an extension on his previously-signed contract.

Now, Joan has responded to his lawsuit, claiming that Tyrese no longer has any rights to her deceased husband’s life story. She alleges that he sold them to Warner Bros. in 2019. The deal they agreed to “[made] Warner Bros. the successor-in-interest to Voltron with respect to the Option Agreement and Voltron no longer a party to the Option Agreement,” her motion reads. The motion also says that “Voltron’s claims are barred because Voltron seeks to enforce an unenforceable agreement to agree.”

This is far from the only legal drama Tyrese has been wrapped up in lately, however. Earlier this month, it was revealed that he’s being sued by the owner of a California Airbnb who alleges that he damaged her property. The owner, Tiffanique Webb, accuses him of making “excessive alterations” to the property without permission. According to her, this made it un-rentable to other guests. She sued him for loss of earnings, seeking over $25K.

He’s also still battling his ex-wife Samantha Lee in court. Earlier this week, he filed a motion to have Judge Kevin Farmer recused from the trial. He accuses the judge of being prejudiced against him. He also previously motioned for the judge to be recused this year, though his efforts were unsuccessful at the time. Quavo has released a cookbook loaded with “family recipes” to help fans out ahead of Thanksgiving. He spoke about the decision with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution during a farmers market that his foundation held at Urban Recipe on Monday in honor of the holidays. “It’s very important to give back,” Quavo told the outlet. “We came from nothing, so it’s only right that we give back to the people that have nothing or have less. We just try to help the best way we can. This is just a small portion to the big things that we’re doing.”

Earlier this month, K Camp took to social media to announce that he’d be undergoing surgery on his vocal cords. According to him, the cause for the surgery wasn’t cancer. Regardless, he requested that fans pray in hopes that the procedure wouldn’t impact him or his career.

“Dear fans, I wanted to share some important news,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be undergoing vocal surgery in a few days. Good news is that it’s not cancerous. Your support means the world to me, Let’s pray that this doesn’t affect me or my music. Thank you for your understanding and love during this time.” He shared a video along with the announcement, showing him speaking with a doctor about the surgery.

The doctor revealed that a polyp had formed in response to an injury, and resulted in him needing surgery. Now, he’s provided fans with an eagerly-anticipated update, revealing that the surgery went off without a hitch. “Surgery went well,” he wrote. “Truly appreciate all the love everybody showed even tho I can’t talk I’m still hustlin.” The update was accompanied by some footage of the Atlanta-based performer being wheeled into the operating room, surrounded by loved ones. The clip is from a new music video for his track “War,” which he also teased in the caption of the post.

Last year, 21 Savage released a high-profile collab album with Drake called Her Loss.
