Doja Cat Is ‘So F*ckin Sorry’ For A Recent Concert She Wasn’t Happy With: ‘I Don’t Know What The F*ck That Was’

Uproxx’s Aaron Williams attended and reviewed Doja Cat’s ongoing The Scarlet Tour, in support of her Scarlet album from late September.

“Doja’s well-versed in the online chatter about her, and systematically dismantles every complaint in her Scarlet Tour set, which is presented in five acts and finds her confronting both the haters and the unhinged alter ego her latest album is titled after,” Williams wrote on November 3, following Doja’s show at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Doja Cat is her own online critic right now. On Thursday night, November 30, The Scarlet Tour rolled through Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Afterward, the multi-platinum-certified artist express frustration on her Instagram Story.

“I’m so f*ckin sorry,” Doja cat wrote atop a photo of either broken-up bread or a broken-up chip. “New Jersey I don’t know what the f*ck that was. I’m really not happy with my energy tonight.”

The night before, November 29, was an entirely different story. Doja was very happy with her show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. She posted an Instagram carousel alongside the caption, “best night award goes to brooklyn [gold medal emoji].”

There are seven remaining dates on Doja Cat’s The Scarlet Tour, with the next show scheduled for Saturday, December 2, at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. It will wrap at United Center in Chicago, Illinois on December 13. See all dates here.

Diddy Wasn’t The One To Pay For Cassie Settlement, Legal Expert Theorizes

Though Diddy’s legal battles are far from over, the bombshell suit from Cassie is still the principal point of discussion when it comes to his alleged abhorrent behavior. Moreover, many folks expressed shock, satisfaction, or skepticism when they settled the case, which was quite the suspicious and quick resolution to such a damning accusation. However, in the weeks since, other voices and angles shed some light on this issue and might actually help us understand it a little more. On that note, Houston-based attorney Symone Redwine appeared on the Pour Horsemen podcast on Wednesday (November 29) to explain the possible financing behind this settlement.

“They didn’t sue just Diddy,” Symone Redwine told the show hosts, explaining that there’s a chance that Sean Combs didn’t pay a cent in this explosive, slightly damning, and eyebrow-raising legal development. “They sued his corporations. And they sued his corporations, and sued in her capacity as an employee. When you do that, it triggers commercial liability insurance and it triggers another policy called directors and officers.” Then, she went on to elaborate what the implication of these policies is, and how things maybe weren’t up to Puff Daddy in this case.

Symone Redwine Speaks On Diddy & Cassie Settlement: Watch

“We know he’s the director of the companies as a CEO,” Symone Redwine continued about the Diddy lawsuits. “So now you got two policies. What happens then is, it takes away Puffy’s ability to settle. It’s not his choice no more. So because they added those claims, the corporate insurance carrier got to say, ‘Oh hell no, we’re giving her the money.’” Furthermore, it’s unclear if the lawyer also believes these considerations apply to the multiple other lawsuits against the Bad Boy mogul. Of course, it’s more likely that this is very case-by-case and depends on the codefendants named.

Meanwhile, this news is relevant because it affects how the public truly perceives his accountability in this situation. If the New York music magnate didn’t pay here, then how can we expect to see this settlement as him atoning for his alleged mistakes? What does that mean for what this settlement means as far as his guilt– and how will this affect future legal procedures? Regardless, check back in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Diddy and Cassie.

Jake Paul Blasts Kid Cudi For Not Giving Him A “Hometown Discount” On His Appearance Fee

Jake Paul took aim at fellow Ohio native Kid Cudi for his “astronomical” appearance fees. Paul claimed that he had reached out to Cudi about performing at his 2021 fight against Tyron Woodley. However, Cudi’s fee was just too much for Paul to afford. “I tried to get him to perform at the Tyron Woodley fight just before I came out and he asked for like, an astronomical fee that was like, ‘F-ck you.’ I get it, but it’s like, this was like some sh-t to tap in back with the city. Like, first event back from Covid,” Paul explained.

Furthermore, Paul argued that he gave discounts on his appearance fees when the City of Cleveland was involved. With Cudi out, Paul instead made his ring entrance to recordings of Machine Gun Kelly’s “Till I Die” and Jeezy’s “Put On”. Paul would go on to beat the retired MMA fighter via split decision. Cudi has not yet responded to the allegations.

Jake Paul To Fight Seasoned Boxer This Month

Elsewhere, Paul’s next fight is rapidly approaching. Paul will fight Houston-based professional boxer Andre August on December 15 in Orlando. August is 35 years old and has a 10-1-1 career record. That makes him the most experienced fighter Paul has faced in his career so far. Furthermore, it marks a shift in Paul’s approach to boxing. It’s hard to take the decision as anything other than Paul addressing the primary criticism against him – that he takes name value over boxing reputation when it comes to opponents.

“I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life. So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness on Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see,” Paul said in a statement.

Teairra Mari & Keri Hilson Go Back & Forth With Threats, Claims & Responses Over Beef

Two R&B stars recently reignited their beef after referencing it in a recent interview, and things are at a bit of a standstill right now. Moreover, during an appearance on the R&B Money podcast with J. Valentine and Tank in October, Keri Hilson told a story of how another artist wasn’t really returning the mutual respect they’re supposed to share as entertainers. Then, the Internet got to sleuthing, and many folks correctly assumed that this was about fellow R&B singer Teairra Mari. Since these initial comments, the two issued out various threats and responses to all this.

When you’re a performer, we know how important it is to give love to other performers,” Keri Hilson told the show hosts, opening up these floodgates. “Especially when you happen to be sitting on the front row at their show. I remember this ‘I don’t wanna be here’ energy. She was with a gentleman, she was his guest. I know the guy very well. She didn’t wanna be there. It was very obvious. I felt disrespected by that. So when they came to my dressing room backstage, I said something and we almost got to scrapping. It could have got real ugly,” she concluded, adding that the artist in question is “pretty insignificant at this point.”

The Keri Hilson & Teairra Mari Saga So Far

“Y’all, people gotta leave me alone,” Teairra Mari responded to Keri Hilson via an Instagram comment. “I don’t bother anybody. Just leave me the f**k alone. So, Keri. What’s up, you wanna fight or do you not want to fight because I’m gonna whoop your a** when I see you I’m sick of you people bothering me! You had a whole different story when I was in your face you’re a liar b***h!!!” “Well fellas, I guess the ‘I ain’t sayin no names’ segment didn’t work too well this time…” Hilson replied in her own IG comment. “Unfortunately this did happen around 12-13 years ago. I never knew until I saw the previous post you also told this story publicly. Listen… we were very young in our careers and I was remembering how I felt when it happened. But I don’t feel a way about this situation now.

“Since then, we’ve run into each other, apologized, partied together & gotten past that,” Keri Hilson continued. “I’m responding to this because I don’t wanna allow anything to bring us back to a place we’ve long passed. And since it was a public story that got connected to you in public, it deserves a public apology. I’m sorry for telling the story especially with the energy & hurtful words that I used. It was unnecessary. Because my feelings and energy at this point, in this present moment are nothing but love… It’s an old story that I see now we’ve both told. I hope you’re doing well in this season & wishing you all the best in life.” Teairra Mari hasn’t responded to this apology at press time. Doja Cat Bites Back With Intoxicating “Scarlet” Tour

With audiences and critics’ unrestricted access to the inner happenings of creatives (in various mediums) reaching a new frontier, the delineation between music, personal circumstances, and the demands of a fanbase is rapidly evaporating. Every statement and motion magnified to the umpteenth power, the lens can begin to shift away from what matters most: the music.

Some artists, though, take it upon themselves to step out of that perpetual game of cat and mouse, taking the art in a direction that may seem jarring to others, but feels true to themselves. In this moment, the union of intention and intangibles creates something honest, and in that sense, undeniable.

Enter: Doja Cat

The full-on megastardom brought about by her 2019 album Hot Pink came along with the inevitable magnification of one’s entire existence. 2021’s Planet Her only continued the ascent, multiplying the spectator’s angle of view. These facets of artistry/industry all came to a head when Doja decided to make a blatant shift in aesthetic, ditching the bubblegum for something much more abrasive, and in many ways, more tactile. New haircut. New style. And a new (or moreso revealed) musical approach.

In the period after Planet Her, Doja Cat released tracks such as “Paint The Town Red” and “Attention.” The latter truly set the tone for the potent rapping that would take place on her 2023 album Scarlet. In fact, the former set the stage for an unforgettable spectacle that tour attendees won’t soon forget.

Doja Cat Weaves Her Web

Akin to watching a fully fleshed-out horror film or dark anime i.e. Devil May Cry, Doja Cat leaned into the Scarlet theme with reckless, yet somehow meticulous, abandon. Draped in all red regalia during a dramatic intro accompanied by a string section, she then burst into full energetic bravado for “WYM Freestyle.” The visual backing then transitioned the audience into a jarring, captivating performance of “Demons.” A mechanical black spider, of which seemed to be all of 20+ feet tall with red, piercing eyes, added an intimidation factor incredibly early in the show. This, coupled with her immaculate breath control told everyone one thing – Doja Cat means business.

She rounded out the first act with “Tia Tamera” and “Shutcho,” instantly garnering massive crowd engagement. The choreography began to ramp up, and the presentation of the dancers left nothing to be desired. The characters in the ‘Scarlet’ theatre embodied each scene, whether with fervent aggression, tender sensuality, or tangible culminations of both. The aforementioned sensuality began to display itself more during the final song of this act, “Agora Hills,” and would continue to reprise its role in the acts to come.

Standing At Attention

As mentioned in the intro, the June 2023 single “Attention” signified an aesthetic and energetic shift for Doja Cat. The same can be said for its iteration as the first track in Act II. There was a fierce focus in her delivery of the verses. Moreover, the choreography was much less dance-based and served as interactive sculptures around different moments of the song. Even the accompanying screens and effects were ever-so-slightly more subdued, directing every anticipating eye to the star of the show.

Following that was a sonically stunning performance of “Often,” but what came next was a shock. After filling the crowd in about some details of a voice ailment she was dealing with, out spilled the lyrics “I’ve got a red room, it is the red hour when the sun sets in my bedroom.” This was a thematically poignant, gorgeous cover of “Red Room” by the ever-transcendent Hiatus Kaiyote. This tied together her performance. Not to mention, it also displayed Doja’s ear and creative choices to a heightened extent.

She closed Act II with a rousing performance of “Ain’t Shit,” an obvious fan favorite, then dove headfirst into the next segment of this spectacle.

Still Superstar Status

The intention behind the cinema that is Scarlet still stands strong. However, shedding the pop-star persona for something that aligns more with her creative approach just works. Doja Cat still has a plethora of crowd-moving mega-hits in her arsenal. Act III was a showcase of metaphorical (and literal) firepower, as she rattled off hit after hit, with various pyrotechnics aplenty setting the scenery ablaze.

In succession, the crowd was delighted by “Woman,” an afrobeats-inspired mix of “Say So,” “Get Into It (Yuh),” “Need To Know,” and “Kiss Me More.” As if some of her hottest tracks weren’t enough to elevate the temperature in the building, intricate lasers, thermal optic sights, and a kiss cam took the act to a different degree. Doja’s screams of “KISS EACH OTHER” served as an entry point for what was next to come.

Paint The Streets Red

Being her “biggest rap hit” in terms of sales numbers, “Paint The Town Red” was yet another eye-catching single released prior to the unveiling of ‘Scarlet.’ One issue with people’s understanding of artistry – or lack thereof – is they begin to attach unrelated context that was never intended.

Doja Cat never said she would no longer make hit music. The perpetual bubblegum pop aesthetic – coupled with a lack of awareness for her lyrical prowess and penmanship – simply called for a drastic enough redirect to be intentional, visible, and most importantly, effective. Performing the track with a massive sentient eyeball alongside her on stage acted as an omni-directional lens: everyone is intent on looking at and analyzing her, while she now has the wherewithal to keep an eye on everyone else.

Following that display of multi-level understanding, Doja shifted the atmosphere back to palpable sensuality. “Streets,” the most sonically sultry of her hits, received a performance in equal measure. “Painting the town red” was seemingly not enough. Standing alone, she instead opted to delve into a visual masterpiece in performance art all her own. She communicated each brush stroke through music and motion. The dance of the cosmos, in miniature. In an act of beautiful juxtaposition, she then performed a reverberating, raucous “FTG.” She did this alongside more flames and intensified choreography to close Act IV.

Doja Goes Off

Numerous tracks encapsulate the essence of the ‘Scarlet’ cinematic experience. “Go Off” and “Ouchies” leading into “Wet Vagina” is an incredibly vivid illustration. The nonchalant braggadocio, tailing into ruthless lyrical aggression, all spiraling into uncensored, unfiltered outbursts truly created an experience that Doja Cat may currently have a monopoly on.

The live band, of which was stellar throughout the entire night, put on an absolute masterclass during the closing act. Each riff added dimensions that speak to the reasons live concerts are regarded so highly. The drummer was phenomenal, with impeccable timing alongside the electronic bass hits and ghost notes that rounded out each verse in pristine fashion.

Capping off the spectacle was an amalgamation of the effects present within the duration of the show. Fireworks, pyro, lasers, screen flares and flashes – whatever your mind can construe, it played a role in bringing down the curtain exquisitely for the parting act. One thing is astonishingly clear – with this echelon of artistry, Doja Cat will be painting towns in whichever color she feels for many years to come.

“Making music, you think about things that go on in life and things that happen in your life, and you dial in on things,” Scott explained “That moment for families, for the city, you know, it was devastating. And when it came to making, like even finishing the album…I got back into it probably like, I don’t know, months and months and months after. And the idea of just even getting back into music, working on music and just even getting into that, was therapeutic of being able to channel some of the energy into production and sounds and finishing it.”

SZA Loves Creed & Nickelback, And You Should Too

SZA is an artist with a diverse music taste. Quite frankly, if you want to be on her level, you have to have multiple frames of reference. Overall, you can hear these various influences in her music. However, there are a few artists out there that you probably didn’t know SZA actually champions. Two of those artists are none other than Nickelback and Creed. These two post-grunge bands have been ripped apart by critics, however, the songstress believes they are amazing.

During an interview with Variety, SZA made her fandom be known. “The other day, you know what I pulled up?” she asked. “Creed, Nickelback, Train ‘Drops of Jupiter,’ just a whole bunch of that. I know, I know! Wait, you know what’s crazy? Do white people hate Creed and Nickelback? Black people love them! They rock! That shit is bomb! Why do you all hate it so much?” She then went on to profess her love of Creed’s massive hit, “Higher.”

“I like Creed so much — ‘Higher’? Why are you hating on it? Have you ever felt more inspired and uplifted in your life?” she asked. “I’m in the car and I’m blasting ‘Higher,’ I feel like it’s a gospel song, the vocals are going crazy and it’s also somehow slightly romantic, it just feels so fun. Because even if it’s cliche, he’s so fucking dead ass! I will be a Creed fan forever. Like, it started just on a whim in the shower, ‘Oh, let’s play this,’ and then it became a week of Creed and Nickelback.”

Meek Mill Goes After Joe Biden For Comments About Alleged Philadelphia Gun Deals

Meek Mill is someone who has a lot of pride for his home city of Philadelphia. Overall, there are a ton of artists out there who feel strongly for the place they grew up. At the end of the day, these places helped shape them into who they are today. All of these years later, it is cool to see Meek putting on for Philly, while making sure he always gives back. Moreover, he has gotten himself involved in the politics of the city. Meek has become increasingly political over the years, and it was a given that he would want to make the city its best version of itself.

Furthermore, when someone says something inaccurate about the city for a political agenda, he is going to call that out. For instance, recently, President Joe Biden spoke about Philadelphia and how there are gun deals happening there. He described a scene in which vans were pulling up and deals were taking place, both in Philly and New York City. Biden is saying that these kinds of acts will come with a harsher punishment. However, Meek isn’t so sure any of this is actually happening right now.

Meek Mill Responds

“Gotta be the army pulling up with trucks of guns in Philly,” Meek said. “This not true unless he know something we don’t know!” Meek definitely makes a good point. A lot of the time, claims are made and there is little evidence to support it. When it comes to political agendas, that is very much a tactic. Crime is something that is on a lot of people’s minds right now, and there has been a lot of pressure to crack down on it. However, many have suggested that the crime wave perpetuated by politicians is simply overblown.

What do you think of Meek’s comments? Let us know, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music word. We will always be sure to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists.

Flo Milli Reminds Us That Fumbling Her Is A Major L On Her New Single, ‘Never Lose Me’

Flo Milli continues to make a case for why you want her on your team. Tonight (December 1), the Alabama native has dropped her catchy new bop of a single, “Never Lose Me.”

On “Never Lose Me,” Flo reminds us that she’s hard to woo, and she’s even harder to keep.

“How you gon’ prove you could treat me right? / You stole my heart like a thief in the night / Yeah, he my man, he was never your type / If you try me, ho, it’s on sight,” she raps on one of the song’s verses.

On the chorus, she hammers home to a romantic interest, “Tell me you don’t ever wanna lose me.”

This particular single is one of Flo’s more melodic songs, as she showcases both her rap skills and her soft, R&B vocal stylings. In an interview with The Forty Five, which took place earlier this year, Flo said we can expect her upcoming second album, Fine Ho, Stay to demonstrate more rawness.

“I’ve been [exploring that vulnerability] a little bit more,” said Flo. “But I’ve been exploring lots of different pockets. Y’all will see on the new album the versatility that I bring.”

You can listen to “Never Lose Me” above.
