Trey Songz Scrapped Tyga Music Video Due To Lack Of Black Representation

Trey Songz surprised fans on June 25. The R&B singer posted clips from an unreleased music video starring him and Tyga. He also shared the explanation for why the video never saw the light of day. It wasn’t due to any tension with Tyga, or complications with record labels. In fact, everybody but Trey Songz was onboard with releasing the video. The singer told his followers that the reason he chose to scrap the collaboration was because of who was cast in the video. Or more specifically, who wasn’t.

Songz was put off by the fact that the music video did not have a lot of black female representation. “Archives,” he confirmed in the caption. “I scrapped this video cause it wasn’t enough Black women in it. In Spain last time somebody called me n***er didn’t feel right [shrug shoulders emoticon].” Songz made it clear that there were no hard feelings between him and Tyga. “Song cold tho,” he added. “Traw my dawg @tyga.” While the sentiment was well-received, and even praised by some, most of the users in Trey Songz’s comment section criticized him for his reasoning.

Trey Songz Was Criticized By Social Media Users

“Yall be in America avoiding black women,” one user wrote. “But gone record a video in a country where there really ain’t none and try to make a spectacle about it. Leave us out of it.” Another user took Songz to task for his making this decision after he shot the video. “It’s him thinking we are silly enough to fall for this nonsense,” they noted. “Sir, you saw that when you filmed the video. But ok…” Several users posited that Trey Songz was trying to appeal to his female audience, given the string of accusations that’ve been made against him recently.

In April, Songz settled a $25 million lawsuit out of court. The woman who filed the suit, Jane Doe, stated that the singer sexually assaulted her at a Los Angeles party in 2016. This suit came only months after a different woman accused Songz of assaulting her at his Los Angeles home in 2015. The singer has not publicly addressed the accusations. He did, however, post a cryptic message on Instagram shortly after the $25 million lawsuit was filed. “Lies will never be the truth,” he wrote. “No matter who chooses to believe such. Alhamdulillah.”

GloRilla Hits The Open Road In New “TGIF” Music Video

GloRilla is unbothered. The rapper has scored a handful of top 40 singles over the last few years. She was also the opening act for Megan Thee Stallion during the latter’s recent tour. GloRilla’s career is at all time high, which means she’s dealing with more hate than ever before. It’s the way things work. It’s also the focus of the rapper’s new single “TGIF.” GloRilla dismisses her haters over infectious trap production, and the music video matches the song’s energy by heading out to the desert.

The “TGIF” music video largely takes place on a tour bus, which makes sense given GloRilla’s touring schedule. It’s a tactic Latto pulled on the “Sunday Service (Remix),” which featured her, Megan Thee Stallion and Flo Milli rapping and twerking on another tour bus. GloRilla’s music video is a step above Latto’s posse cut, though. For one, the dancing plays more of a role. GloRilla and her crew are filmed celebrating in multiple locations, and the energy they have is infectious.

Especially during the desert scenes, which is embellished through impressive drone camerawork and a warm aesthetic perfectly suited to the song’s lyrics. “It’s 7 p.m. Friday, it’s ninety-five degrees,” GloRilla raps. “I ain’t got no n**ga, and no n**ga ain’t got me. I’m ’bout to show my a*s.” It all works in unison, and it’s all fun.

Gunna Hits The Streets Of Atlanta For “Back In The A” Music Video

Gunna has released a music video for his One Of Wun hit song, “back in the a,” which sees him take to the streets of Atlanta. He shows himself performing in the city, riding in a cavalcade of cars, and more. Leff, who handled the direction of the video, shot it on location in the rapper’s hometown. One Of Wun marks Gunna’s second album since his release from prison in the still-ongoing YSL Rico case. He first dropped A Gift & a Curse back in 2023. He’s currently performing on the Bittersweet Tour in promotion of both projects. He likely filmed the music video while he was in town to perform, earlier this month, at the State Farm Arena.

Fans on YouTube have been loving the release. “Wunna’s 2023-24 run was legendary, should be in the history books of music,” one user commented. Another wrote: “My interpretation of this song was that apart from his home city, Back in the A to me means he’s come back from prison to being A-list again. His talent is undefeated love him or hate him.” In addition to the new release, Gunna also appeared in the latest episode of Spotify’s series, Day In The Life, on Monday. In doing so, he traveled to his childhood home to discuss the importance of family, his plans for another album, and more. He remarked that he wants his next project to be more intimate than ever before. LUCKI, Rick Ross, Sexxy Red, GloRilla and more artists have all made appearances on prior episodes of the show. Don Toliver Throw A Houston Block Party In Music Video For “BROTHER STONE”: Watch

Don Toliver finally came by with his highly sought after fourth album, HARDSTONE PSYCHO. Fans were dying to get their hands on the project as soon as “Bandit” premiered back in February. So far, it seems that a lot of people are pleased with the end result. The features are adding to that satisfaction, playing a major role on the record. Travis Scott, Future, Teezo Touchdown, Charlie Wilson, Cash Cobain, and Kodak Black all bring something to the table. The latter might have the top performance on “BROTHER STONE”, and it seems that it will find a spot in a lot of listeners’ rotations. Due to the song popping off already, Don did good by dropping the music video for “BROTHER STONE” moments ago.

We can see why, as the beat commands your attention right away. The twinkly and haunting piano melodies, along with the thumping bass and punchy kick drums add up for a winner of an instrumental. Kodak is arguably the best part of it though, with his stop-start flow and energetic delivery. Don also does his thing, keeping the engines revved. As for the music video, Don and Kodak head to the former’s home for a lit party with strippers and lowriders. The now 30-year-old father of one continues to rock his HARDSTONE PSYCHO leather get-up, further promoting this punk rock aesthetic. Travis Scott and Trae Tha Truth, two other Houston natives, make some brief cameos later on at a grungy nightclub. All of them sling ones at the women dancing around them, as they rage throughout the night. You can check out the new visuals with the link below.

J Cole Shares Old Footage In The Music Video For “Trae The Truth In Ibiza”

J Cole has had an interesting 2024 so far. Overall, it began with him being dissed by his good friend Kendrick Lamar on Like That. Subsequently, he hit back on the album Might Delete Later. The song “Seven Minute Drill” was his official response, however, as the album name suggests, he deleted it. This decision came after a much-discussed apology at Dreamvillefest where he essentially took back what he said about Lamar. Since then, Cole has mostly stayed out of the limelight, aside from a couple of highly-debated verses here and there.

Well, today, J Cole is back. This is all thanks to his new music video for “Trae The Truth In Ibiza,” which can be viewed below. As you will see, this new music video is supposed to elicit some nostalgia. It is filled with archival footage of the artist. Victoria Monet Draws Comparisons To Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, & Beyonce In “Alright” Music Video

Victoria Monet, veteran R&B singer and songwriter, really put a lot of people on notice after nabbing a massive GRAMMY win. At this year’s award show, the Atlanta, Georgia native took home the hardware for Best R&B Album. Her fifth overall project JAGUAR II, the sequel to the 2020 tape, dropped in late August 2023 and featured quite a few standout tracks. You have the horn backed “On My Mama”, “Smoke” with Lucky Daye, among others. The album won over some very respectable competition as well, including Summer Walker, Babyface, Coco Jones, and Emily King. However, the nominations do not stop there. She is also getting recognized by BET for the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. With all of this well-deserved success, it seems to be trickling down to other areas of her career. For example, Victoria Monet is getting tons of praise for the music video for “Alright”.

One of the other hits from JAGUAR II, “Alright” has been a winner for Victoria Monet due to its bouncy and intoxicating vibe. Part of the credit goes to KAYTRANADA, who produced the banger. In the visuals, fans have been pointing out that she made some nods to artists like Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, as well as Beyonce. “The ode to Janet’s “Feedback” and “Alright” & Michael’s “Smooth Criminal” was so dope! I love the modern elements!”, one user writes. The inspiration is definitely there, and it is all sold well due to the incredible choreography. The moody tone of the video also complements “Alright”, as well as the album, to a tee. All of these standout qualities are why Monet has the number six video on trending right now.

All Of The Celebrity Cameos In Eminem’s “Houdini” Music Video

In April 2024, Eminem announced he would release his 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), in the summer. The announcement sparked excitement among the rapper’s fan base and marked his return four years after his last album, Music to be Murdered By. Eminem released his upcoming album’s lead single, “Houdini,” on May 31. “Houdini” showed Eminem remains the “Rap God” as he stayed true to his style. He stirred controversy with some of his lyrics, including his bars about Tory Lanez’s shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Eminem also showed his creative genius as the song revived Steve Miller’s classic 1982 tune, “Abracadabra.”

“Houdini” took the internet by storm thanks to its catchy hook and lyrics, which brought back memories of Eminem’s Slim Shady era. The “My Name Is” and “Without Me” references are hard to miss. Eminem released the “Houdini” single alongside a music video and featured several celebrities, including Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Eminem’s children. Let’s explore all the celebrity cameos in Em’s latest music video.

The “Houdini” Music Video Plot

Eminem’s alter ego, the Real Slim Shady, is back. The “Houdini” music video shows how the blonde Slim Shady entered a portal in 2002 and found himself in today’s present world. Dr. Dre alerts Eminem about Shady’s presence, and they team up to take him down in true superhero style. However, before they get to Slim, he wreaks havoc across the city in his bid to cancel the present-day Eminem. Eventually, Em, dressed in the Rap Boy costume, meets Shady and engages in a battle. However, there is no victor as both merge to become a hybrid individual.

Eminem “Houdini” Video Celebrity Cameos: Paul Rosenburg

The “Houdini” video begins with Eminem’s longtime friend and manager, Paul Rosenburg, calling to tell him he heard the album and wishing him luck. Paul playfully states, “Hey Em, it’s Paul. I was listening to the album. Good f**king luck, you are on your own.”

Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre acts as one of the main characters in the “Houdini” video. He is the first to call Em to let him know Slim Shady has entered 2024 via a mysterious portal. He drives Eminem around the city to find the rampaging Slim Shady. At first, Dr. Dre and Eminem have a little fight in the car but get along just fine.

50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Westside Boogie, & Denaun Porter

As Eminem’s “Houdini” video progressed to the chorus, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Westside Boogie, and Denaun Porter made cameos. The four rappers lined up in a book panel reacted to the news that Slim Shady was back in the city by singing “Guess Who’s Back.” The chorus offered a fresh version of “Without Me’s” evergreen hook, which Em paid homage to in “Houdini.”

The Alchemist

While Dr. Dre and Eminem continue searching for the latter’s younger self, Slim Shady walks into an underground cipher. There, he meets producer and DJ Alan Daniel Maman, popularly known as The Alchemist. However, Slim Shady looks perplexed and disappointed with what he sees in the cipher but eventually steps into a circle.

Royce Da 5’9 & Shane Gillis

Slim Shady’s quest for destruction sees him burst through a podcast room where he meets Shane Gillis and Royce da 5’9. Gillis and Royce are engaging in a discussion about who the best MC of all time is. Slim Shady becomes upset with the conversation and disrupts proceedings. He steals a microphone before flipping a table and exiting, leaving Royce and Shane terrified.

Jimmy Iovine

After Eminem and Slim Shady engaged in a battle and fused, they became an unholy hybrid. The monster they create comprises the best and worst versions of Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers. The effect is that Eminem begins to diss his closest friends and family members. Eminem’s longtime friend and Interscope Geffen’s CEO, Jimmy Iovine, is one of the first casualties of the monster. Iovine appears in the “Houdini” video, looking confused and shocked as he listens to Marshall insulting him.

Eminem’s Three Kids Make Appearance In “Houdini” Video

Eminem’s three kids, Hailie, Alaina, and Stevie, were not spared from the onslaught. In the “Houdini” video, the trio was on a video call with their dad, who dissed them by rapping, “F**k my own kids, they are brats/They can screw off.” The rapper’s children reacted to his diss by opening their mouths in shock.

Pete Davidson

Pete Davidson is the last celebrity to appear in Eminem’s “Houdini” video. Dr. Dre, who had been driving Eminem through the city, gets uncomfortable after the hybrid Marshall insults him and others. Hence, he exits the vehicle, after which Pete shows up. The comedian sports a similar look to the hybrid Eminem. He has the same blonde haircut and wears an all-black ensemble. Pete gets into the yellow Lamborgini and sits in the driver’s seat. He tells Eminem, “Trust me, I’m a great driver. Don’t worry, I just got my license back.” However, that isn’t the case, as the video ends with Em and Pete crashing through other vehicles as they make their way through the city.

GloRilla & Snoop Dogg Have A Trippy Smoke Sesh In “High AF” Music Video

Many felt that GloRilla was trailing off a bit in 2023 after not having a hit for quite some time. However, the script has been flipped on its head in 2024 so far. The rowdy Memphis, Tennessee rapper has changed that narrative with her new mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang. Led by the February lead single “Yeah Glo!” and her first-ever collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “Wanna Be,” it was one of the stronger releases in April. Undoubtedly, the latter is a song of the summer candidate as it sure to be played at loads of outdoor parties and clubs. On top of notching that track with the Texas femcee, they are now touring together. Now, GloRilla can check off working with Snoop Dogg off her list with the music video for “High AF” out.

This is now the third cut to receive the visual treatment, as the two promotional records are the others to have some. “High AF” is self-explanatory, as Big Glo raps about recreational smoking and the common side effects. The accompanying music video does a hilarious job at bringing the lyrics to life. Consequently, there is a scene in which GloRilla is “cooking” some weed over a stovetop.

Furthermore, she gives the visuals some weed street cred by calling on smoking legend Snoop Dogg. He makes a few cameos throughout, showing off his new spiked beverage, Gin & Juice, in the process. It is a enjoyable and laid-back music video that turns out was much needed. You can check out the visuals for “High AF” with the link above.

What are your thoughts on GloRilla getting Snoop Dogg to appear in her brand-new music video for “High AF?” Do you think the Memphis MC is officially back after her latest mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang? Gunna Shows Us That He’s Always Making Moves In Music Video For “Whatsapp (Wassam)”

Gunna’s new album One of Wun has been receiving some fairly positive reviews from fans and critics since its release this past weekend. The main issue that people are having with the project so far is that it is a tad too long. While we can agree that there is some filler on this album, it also has its fair share of highlights as well. One of those tracks that we feel Gunna put forth some solid effort into is “whatsapp (wassam),” which now has an accompanying music video. This track was one of two promotional singles while also being the most recent. It dropped a week before the LP and followed up “prada dem” with Offset.

One quality that Gunna is known for is his ability to bring a speedy and melodic flow. This track definitely highlights that quality to a tee, especially on the catchy chorus. On “whatsapp (wassam)” Gunna boasts and brags about his ability to make significant amounts of money through various avenues. The music video, directed by Spike Jordan, accentuates that, as it shows Gunna taking various calls via the Whatsapp platform.

Watch “Whatsapp (Wassam)” Music Video

It is a simple, yet effective video that has a cool shot of the all the calls he takes in one frame. The lyrics in this song also have validity, especially because Gunna is in the process of creating a clothing brand. There is a possibility that the entity will be called “P” based on some billboards seen by Complex. “P by Gunna. June 5, 2024,” it read over the Georgia rapper sporting a blue, white, and black jacket with a matching beanie hat. However, the campaign has been off to a rocky start, as an artist has claimed that Gunna copied his logo.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new music video for “whatsapp (wassam)” by Gunna? Is this the best track from his new album One of Wun, why or why not? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest of his catalog? Is this his most creative set of visuals ever? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Gunna.
