Kendrick Lamar Drops “Count Me Out” Video With Helen Mirren Starring As His Therapist

Months after the release of his latest album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Kendrick Lamar has debuted the official music video for “Count Me Out.”

Starring Helen Mirren as his therapist, the Compton rapper shows off his acting chops in the video, co-directed by him and Dave Free.

The music video opens with a black-and-white filter, revealing Lamar sitting at a piano while in a room with the 77-year-old actress. Known for her roles in Red and The Queen, Mirren laughs with the “Poetic Justice” artist about taking someone else’s parking spot.

Shifting to a serious note, Mirren then says, “You texted me at 2 o’clock in the morning: ‘I feel like I’m fallen.’ Why’d you feel that way?” Following a brief pause, Lamar simply answered back, “Life.”

Throughout the remainder of the three-minute video, Lamar flaunted a number of eye-catching visuals. Splicing different scenes along with the therapy session, the Grammy-winning star showed himself rapping in a studio, laying in a field, standing in a desert, and more.

Released this past May, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers features 18 tracks and marks the rapper’s first project since 2016’s DAMN.

Last month, the Grammys released their nominations for 2023, with Lamar’s latest album up for both Album Of The Year and Best Rap Album.

In a recent sit-down with W Magazine, he shared the vulnerable process behind the album, revealing that some of his family didn’t know about the subject matter until its debut.

“I could have cut corners and got flashy with it and worded my words a certain way—nah, I had to be in the rawest, truest form I could possibly be in order for it to be freeing for me, in order for me to have a different outlook and the perspective on people I’m talking to,” Lamar shared. “I had to reap whatever consequences came behind that, and also be compassionate and show empathy if they were hurt by it.”

Bree Runway Reminds Us She’s “THAT GIRL” In New Single & Music Video

Bree Runway is back with a bang, sharing her latest single, “THAT GIRL,” this New Music Friday.

The London-born performer shared the EASYFUN-produced upbeat track after taking some time off from the industry, and the bouncy, upbeat club banger has her fans proudly rallying behind her.

“I’ve been on a mini hiatus and there’s no better way to remind you that I’m ‘THAT GIRL’,” the 29-year-old told Paper Mag. “This song automatically makes me feel like the main character in the middle of a sweaty club, and I’m just oozing sex, glamour and confidence whilst everybody watches.”

She continued her explanation with, “It’s my everyday reminder of how fabulous I am, and it’s your new everyday reminder too – you’re automatically a 10 if you: turn this on, f*ck with it, press play and feel liberated, pumped up, and free.”

Earlier this year, the singer dropped off “Pressure” and “Somebody Like You.”

Quotable Lyrics:

And my ass thick but my bank account thicker
Tasty ass bitch, skin brown like a Snicker
I don’t see nobody, I don’t care about these n*ggas
And I can’t push your brand if it’s not six figures

DaBaby Faces Backlash For Using Megan Thee Stallion Lookalike In New Video

Since dropping the sequel to his debut album Baby On Baby last week, DaBaby has been hit with a whirlwind of controversy. The album’s lead single, “Boogeyman” was the target of lots of backlash, after the North Carolina native revealed on the track that he slept with Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, just before her shooting incident with Tory Lanez

“You play with me that sh*t was childish/The day before she said that Tory Lanez shot her, I was f**kin on Megan Thee Stallion,” he rapped. Many fans thought the lyrics were distasteful, considering that the “Cash Sh**” collaborators are no longer friends. But that didn’t stop DaBaby from dropping the visual to the controversial track.

A clip from the horror themed video showed a Megan Thee Stallion doppelgänger, who sneaks into a dark basement with her friends as the summons the boogeyman, played by the “Boogeyman” rapper himself. After sharing a snippet of the video for his Instagram followers, fans flooded the comment section with mixed reviews. “Y’all wild for naming her “morgan” the stallion,” one fan joked, while others shared a bunch of corn emojis.

Although Megan has yet to publicly address DaBaby’s claims, many speculated that her recent comments about body positivity were directed at the Charlotte native. However, she hopped on Twitter to slightly address the “negative narrative” while calling out blogs for only posting bad things about her. “I really don’t care abt being posted AT ALL,” she tweeted, “But why is it that all of a sudden out of the 1 million positive things I do / have done it only seems like when something negative happens that’s news?”
