Lil Wayne Replaces Migos On The 2022 Governors Ball Line-Up Amid Migos Breakup Rumors

Lil Wayne is set to take the stage at Governors Ball in New York City this weekend. He will be taking the slot previously occupied by rap trio Migos. (Furthermore, it was also just announced that this year’s festival will be livestreamed on Twitch, via the official Governors Ball channel.)

This news comes amid rumors of Migos breaking up, after fans noticed Migos member Offset and his wife, Cardi B, unfollowed fellow Migos members Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram last month. Also last month, Quavo and Takeoff released a song called “Hotel Lobby” under the moniker Unc And Phew.

When asked by a TMZ paparazzo if the breakup rumors were true, Quavo appeared to dodge the question.

Later that month, DJ Akademics also spoke with TMZ, claiming he has recently spoken with Offset and doesn’t believe a breakup is underway.

“They might be going through a small disagreement or whatever,” said Akademics. “I think that they’re angling it because, you know, Takeoff and Quavo just put out a song, so they’re kind of letting it lie, letting the questions linger or something like that… But at the end of the day, they’re family. Offset confirmed that to me, too… Come on, I just can’t see a gangster group — like, the only sign of trouble is them hitting unfollow.”

Offset Previews New Music After Quavo And Takeoff Release ‘Hotel Lobby’ As A Duo

Drama seems to always follow the Migos, but rumors have been swirling about internal tension between the trio ever since fans realized Offset and Cardi B unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram. The concerns grew even further as the unfollowing aligned with Qua and Take promoting their new single “Hotel Lobby,” which was released last Friday (May 20) under the name Unc and Phew. Now, Offset is evidently here with some new music of his own, providing a small snippet on his Instagram story this week.

The three members of Migos are no strangers to doing things on their own, regularly appearing on other artists’ music by themselves and even dropping three solo albums from each member within six months of one another in 2018-2019 before taking a long break. The added layer of the social media aspect makes this a cause for concern, but none of the members have officially addressed the supposed tension. It’s known what they can do together, with multiple No. 1’s and Grammy nominations under their belt and DJ Akademiks spoke in a TMZ interview about how he believes fans should not be worried.

“They might be going through a small disagreement or whatever,” the media personality says. “I think that they’re angling it because, you know, Takeoff and Quavo just put out a song, so they’re kind of letting it lie, letting the questions linger or something like that.” In this “everything is a rollout” climate of today’s music, it’s fair to question everything. The actual blood ties between the three make this an even more intriguing situation.

DJ Akademiks Says Offset Confirmed to Him a Migos Breakup is Cap

Quality Control's Pierre "Pee" Thomas Denies Allegations of Malpractice in Migos Lawsuit

Those Migos breakup rumors? All cap. DJ Akademiks caught up with TMZ and revealed the breakup rumors have no legs.

“They might be going through a small disagreement or whatever,” Ak said. “I think that they’re angling it because, you know, Takeoff and Quavo just put out a song, so they’re kind of letting it lie, letting the questions linger or something like that.”

Akademiks added, “But at the end of the day, they’re family. Offset confirmed that to me, too. Maybe if it was the City Girls that unfollowed each other, but the Migos? Come on, I just can’t see a gangster group — like, the only sign of trouble is them hitting unfollow.”

Last week, Twitter user Kurrco pointed out the social media activity, which many associate with “I no longer deal with this person.” Cardi B, Offset’s wife, unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff as well.

Quavo and Takeoff are currently promoting a new single “Hotel Lobby,” which will be released under the moniker Unc and Phew, pointing toward their real-life family relationship.

Quavo And Takeoff Drop ‘Hotel Lobby’ Under The Moniker Unc And Phew

Two-thirds of the Migos are dropping heat ahead of the summer. Quavo and Takeoff have premiered their new single, “Hotel Lobby” under their new collective stage name, Unc And Phew.

The name Unc And Phew refers to their duo’s actual family dynamic, as Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle. Like many Migos tracks, “Hotel Lobby” is a braggadocious ode to wealth and debauchery. On the Murda Beatz-produced track, Takeoff opens with a verse, rapping about his love of private jets and mink coats. Quavo then takes over on the chorus, promising, “all these commas, I won’t fumble.”

In the song’s music video, directed by Quavo and Keemotion, the two pay homage to Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, and take a road trip through the desert while tripping on shrooms. When they arrive to the aforementioned hotel lobby, the shaky, blurry lenses create the effect of a trip of a lifetime.

In regards to the elephant in the room, Offset’s absence, none of the Migos have confirmed the group’s disbandment, however, rumors began to swirl about a Migos breakup after fans noticed Offset and Cardi B unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram.

Earlier today, TMZ caught up with Quavo at LAX Airport, however, Quavo offered no comment regarding the breakup rumors.
