Metro Boomin Trolled Drake’s Latest Kendrick Lamar Diss With A Hilarious Chris Paul Highlight

It seems far fewer people were impressed with Drake’s latest Kendrick Lamar diss than The Boy might have hoped. After he dropped “The Heart Part 6” last night, he may have seen it as a victory lap, but fans online appeared to view it as more of a white flag of surrender after Kendrick Lamar spammed Drake with nonstop diss tracks over the course of the weekend.

Metro Boomin, who pretty much started all this in the first place after inviting Kendrick onto his and Future’s joint album We Don’t Trust You, summed up his feelings with a Chris Paul highlight. Heading over to YouTube, he took a screenshot of the video title that best suited the moment: “Chris Paul hits a huge three to cut the lead down to 42.”

For those who aren’t into sports, the analogy likens Drake emptying the clip on “The Heart Part 6” to a heroic, but ultimately futile effort in a competition in which his loss is inevitable. In basketball, being down 42 points isn’t quite an insurmountable lead, especially in the first half of a game, but it’s also basically a war of attrition in which there have historically been very few winners. Digging out of such hole requires not only impressive levels of skill and endurance but also borderline miraculous luck — i.e. “an act of God.”

Masego Kicks Drake While He’s Down, Layers Saxophone Over Metro Boomin’s Diss Instrumental “BBL DRIZZY”

One thing we have learned about what seems to be all of Drake’s peers turning on him during this beef is that producers also have issues with him. That has been evident ever since Metro Boomin essentially instigated all of this with his “Like That” record with Kendrick Lamar and Future. That one song has snowballed into continuous series of diss tracks and responses. Metro has even gotten in on the act by himself with his quite hilarious instrumental clap back, “BBL DRIZZY BPM 150.mp3.” Another fellow producer, Masego, apparently has something to say as well, with his version called “BBL Drizzy Sax Diss.wav.”

The Kingston, Jamaica singer and beatmaker, has a history of working with the public enemy number one, albeit a short one. On the Certified Lover Boy opener, “Champagne Poetry,” Drake sampled Masego’s hit song “Navajo.” That track in turn referenced a sped-up version of The Singers Unlimited record, “Michelle.” Masego was credited as a producer on “Champage Poetry” for that reason, and it appears that he did not have anything bad to say about Drake in interviews.

That is why this saxophone-tweaked version of Metro’s “BBL DRIZZY” beat is surprising. One user on Reddit is speculating that Drake pulled the wool over Masego’s eyes about receiving royalties. “I mean, he said “cut the check or I’ll show up with Jamaicans” at the end of this. Maybe Drake tried to pull some ‘actually I paid you in exposure’ s***.” Those bars could come across as contradictory due to an interview Masego did when asked about “Navajo” being used by Drake. “That’s what bought this chain,” the singer said flexing his flashy neckpiece. He even said he was “excited” when he heard it and that they had talked about Drake using “Navajo” for his record.

Metro Boomin and Drake do not like each other very much anymore. Overall, Metro has been a large part of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud. Of course, he was the one who produced “Like That” which is the song that started it all. Furthermore, Metro has been talking spicy on Twitter, especially in light of Kendrick’s lyrical assaults on the songs “Meet The Grahams” and “Not Like Us.” In fact, on Sunday, Metro decided to make a beat called “BBL Drizzy.” He even turned it into a contest where fans could rap over it for a free beat.

Last night, Drake responded to Kendrick’s allegations with a song called “The Heart Part 6.” Overall, this has probably been the most polarizing track of the feud thus far. In fact, some believe that Drake is completely throwing in the towel with this one. He claims to have baited Kendrick with false info, although he ended up having to answer for the pedophile allegations for half of the song, and fans are clowning him for it. As for Metro, he decided to respond to Drake with a meme.

Metro Boomin Laughs At Drake

As you can see above, Metro used the infamous “Chris Paul hits a huge three to cut the lead down to 42” meme. This is one of those photos that is typically used during the NBA Playoffs in a blowout. However, the use of it in this rap feud is pretty humorous given the fact that many are currently giving Drake an L right now. Only time will tell how this feud will be remembered, years from now. Metro Boomin Took Drake’s ‘Shut Up And Make Some Drums’ Advice And Is Now Hosting A ‘BBL Drizzy’ Beat Giveaway Online

Thanks to Metro Boomin, Drake is currently learning a biblical lesson. Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

The pair’s seeming inescapable feud has fueled several diss track from others including Kendrick Lamar, and even a sketch on Saturday Night Live. Now, the general public has the chance to join in.

Following Drake’s “shut up yo hoe ass up and make some drums” advice, Metro Boomin did exactly that. Today (May 5), Metro launched a shared an instrumental online titled, “BBL Drizzy,” a call back to rumors (made by Megan Thee Stallion and Rick Ross) that his foe underwent several cosmetic procedures.

“Best verse over this gets a free beat,” he wrote.

Next, he shared the rules for the contest. “Just upload your song and hashtag #bbldrizzybeatgiveaway,” he wrote.

Most users saw Metro’s action as a clever way to have a laugh at Drake’s expense.

“Metro took Drake’s ‘make some drums’ personal and made a hit beat. Never seen a n**** make a diss beat in my life,” wrote one user.

“Dog making this into a contest IM CRINE,” laughed another.

But some took it as an opportunity to book their careers. Dozens of on the rise rappers have already begun posting their submissions in the hopes of locking in the collaboration.

This is the rap feud that no one asked for, but has become to entertaining to turn away from.

Drake has enemies. If you’ve been keeping track as Uproxx has he actually has a quite a lot of enemies. Over the last few weeks, the public has learned that the “First Person Shooter” rapper has had several dust-ups online and on record. But heavy is the head that carries the genre’s record-breaking, charting success.

Between The Weeknd and Nav to the estate of Tupac, Drake has taken several shots across the industry. Asap Rocky claimed to have intimately been with the mother of Drake’s son Adonis. Rick Ross accused his former friend of getting a nose job to combat his “racial insecurities.” Even, Ye (better known as Kanye West), questioned the true nature of Drake’s 2022 deal with Universal Music Group.

Slowly, but surely, Drake has begun to chip away at each record’s rumors. So, on Drake’s latest response track, “Family Matters,” he used a mixture of pet names and legal names to clapback at his opposition. Here you can learn who about Fring. But, that still leaves Leland Wayne to be revealed.

Sandwiched between lines, Drake fires off rounds at Kendrick Lamar, Ross, and The Weeknd. But there are some names listeners did not immediately recognize, including Leland Wayne. So, who is Wayne? Let’s just say it isn’t a family relative of Drake’s mentor and longtime friend, Lil Wayne.

The mystery man in question is none other than Metro Boomin. While the world may refer to him by his stage name, the producer’s family simply know Leland Tyler Wayne. For whatever artistic reason, Drake decided to go with Boomin’s legal name, according to KBIA (an outlet near Boomin’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri). Could it be an intimidation tactic? Possibly. Or it might have been creative way to include his archenemy into his witty lines without the need for any metaphoric heavy lifting.

After reading the stanza below aimed at Metro Boomin, the latter seems to be the best bet.

Metro Boomin Called Out A Fan For Quoting Drake’s Diss Track At A Recent Show

Hip-hop fans have been having a field day with the ongoing feud between Drake and seemingly the entire rap world. Including Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, and more, the war was prompted by Metro Boomin and Future’s two collaborative albums, We Don’t Trust You, and We Still Don’t Trust You. And just like in Drake’s feud with Pusha T some years back, his fans have come to his defense at his rivals’ live shows.

In a video going viral on social media, Metro overhears a fan yelling out lyrics from “Push-Ups,” the diss track Drake dropped in response to the producer’s provocations. The fan shouted the line, “Metro, shut your ho ass up and play some drums,” between songs, to which the producer replied, “I heard that.” The fan can be seen jumping up and down in celebration:

It’s not the first time Metro has been trolled by the “Push-Ups” line. Shortly after releasing the song, Drake hired a drumline to play outside famed Atlanta club Magic City, sending a video of them playing to Metro via his (public) Instagram Story.

Metro is going to have plenty of time to work on his responses to future incidents, as he and Future are gearing up to go on their We Trust You tour beginning in July.

Joe Budden Thinks Future & Metro Boomin Will Sabotage OVO Fest

Joe Budden is always looking for the angle. He’s been chronicling the feud between Drake, Future and Metro Boomin on his podcast, and he thinks the next chess moves will be made on the road. The former rapper theorized that Future and Metro Boomin will purposely schedule their tour in an effort to ruin the attendance for Drake’s upcoming OVO fest in Toronto. He went as far as to say that the duo will enlist the help of another Canadian superstar, The Weeknd, to drive the point home.

Budden noticed that Future and Metro’s Toronto date may line up with the same weekend as OVO Fest. If true, he’s confident Drake will push the dates back. “If The Weeknd comes out on that Future tour stop,” he noted. “I have Drake moving that weekend. He’s moving the weekend.” The rest of the podcast panel hated Budden’s theory. Regardless, he stood his ground. “This wouldn’t be the first time he moved OVO fest,” he added. “I don’t think there’s any shame in that when you spend as much money and as much manpower to put this weekend together.”

Joe Budden Thinks Drake Will Push Back OVO Fest

Joe Budden insisted that The Weeknd was the key artist in this game of concert chicken. He believes if the “Starboy” singer shows up to the Future show, it will take the wind out of Drake’s sails. His rationale is that Weeknd is a bigger artist. “I would think that the second day of OVO Fest has a greater turnout the day there’s not a Future show,” he posited. “Cuse that’s a weekend. That’s a whole weekend.”

The feud between these artists is not letting up. Firstly, Future and Metro dropped the “Like That” remix with more Drake disses. Secondly, The Weeknd crooned a few disses on the duo’s song “All to Myself.” Future also guested on Nardo Wick’s “Back to Back,” which saw him mock Drake using his own song titles. It’s safe to assume these artists will be performing their diss records in Toronto. If Drake does decided to move forward with OVO fest the same weekend, however, fans will be forced to pick sides. Metro Boomin’s Joint Album With JID Is ‘Still A Thing,’ The Producer Assured A Concerned Fan

Hitmaking producer Metro Boomin’s recent successes with Future aren’t distracting him from his future plans. As the hip-hop world continues to reel in the wake of the chaos caused by We Don’t Trust and We Still Don’t Trust You, and prepares for Future and Metro’s We Trust You tour, the producer is maintaining his full docket of previously promised projects, including one that fans have been eagerly anticipation since its was first teased early last year.

Metro himself confirmed that his joint project with Atlanta rapper JID, which they originally announced last March, is “still a thing” in response to a concerned fan’s tweet. After @raptalksk wondered, “is that metro boomin & JID album still a thing?” Metro allayed their worries with a concise response: “very much so.”

The first word of the project came last year, when Metro tweeted, “Got a lot of new music but when me and @JIDsv drop 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😵‍💫.” Fans were hyped for a new JID song produced by Metro until JID himself corrected the speculation, revealing that they were actually working on a full album.

Since then, both artists have periodically updated the status of their plans but don’t expect this thing to drop tomorrow; JID teased a 10-song project titled Forever And A Day dropping before the joint project with Metro, while Metro said he plans to release at least three albums in 2024. While one of those could be his project with JID, Metro is also said to be heavily involved in ASAP Rocky’s upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb.

Metro Boomin Confirms His Collab Album With JID Is “Still A Thing”

Metro Boomin is a busy man. He just dropped two collab albums with Future and started a hip-hop civil war against Drake, but the St. Louis producer is already looking forward to what’s next. He made it clear he wanted to work with Eminem on X (formerly Twitter), but the real collaboration that has fans excited is the rumored album between Metro and JID. It’s been a long time since either artist provided an update, but concerns over whether it was scrapped in light of rap beef politics have been put to rest.

Metro was asked if the JID album was “still a thing” on April 25, and he responded in haste. “Very much so,” he tweeted back. The responses were flooded with fans voicing their relief, since JID is a Dreamville signee and Metro’s relationship with J. Cole is, let’s say, complicated at the moment. Cole was a target on the Metro produced single “Like That,” and he even responded with his own diss. The rapper took it back, however, and appeared on the Metro produced album cut “Red Leather.” All good, right? Well, not quite. Metro ALSO co-produced the “Like That” remix, which contained more bars aimed at Cole’s head.

Metro Boomin Is Still Working Closely With JID

JID has not discussed the Cole situation, but fans had a good reason to be skeptical of his planned Metro collab. The album between JID and Metro was announced back in March 2023. “Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop,” the latter wrote next to fire emojis. JID responded to the tweet by hyping up the album further: “I love working with u brudda, it’s an honor.” There haven’t been details with regards to a title or release date, but have taken to calling the album “JIDTRO.” There’s also been a few snippets of the two artists working together, most notably “Just Do It” and “Ashes2Ashes.”

JID is also staying busy. The Atlanta rapper confirmed that he will be releasing a solo album before his Metro collab called Forever & a Day. The title has fans theorizing that it will be a sequel to The Forever Story, which proved to be his critical and commercial breakthrough in 2022. Forever & a Day will have 10-12 songs, but like the Metro collab, a proper release has not been announced.

Regardless of how long it takes JID and Metro to cook up a finished product, it’s safe to assume they will deliver the goods.
