Meek Mill & 50 Cent’s Beef, Revisited: A Timeline Of Events

50 Cent is no stranger to rap beefs but his constant trolling often stings more than anything he’s said on wax. Take his beef with Meek Mill for example, where 50 Cent uploaded creative photos on Instagram to troll the Dream Chasers rapper instead of releasing diss tracks. In fact, it’s become a part of his brand now to laugh at whoever he’s publicly squabbling with. Nonetheless, the two made up a few years ago, but some recent Fif trolling might be looking to threaten their peace treaty.

50 Cent has recently been trolling Meek Mill regarding Lil Rod’s lawsuit against Diddy that alleged the Philadelphia rapper had sexual relations with the Bad Boy mogul. And while these allegations have circulated, Fif has warned Meek that he has bigger issues to be worried about, specifically the rumors that Meek might have been caught on tape at Diddy’s homes. Meek seems to be taking the high road, but it may be only a matter of time before he speaks out. Either way, let’s revisit the beef between the two rappers.

August 2015: Meek Mill Pokes Fun At 50 Cent

A clip of 50 Cent playfully manhandling Tony Yayo, a fellow G-Unit member, started the beef with Meek Mill. Meek was one of many people to comment on the clip. He reposted the video on his Instagram with the caption, “Yayo getting dumped in the bushes by 50,” with multiple crying emojis. This led to 50 Cent leaving a sharp comment saying, “That’s us playing, but you do be around some niggas I would put on their head. No bullshit.”

November 2015: 50 Cent Laughs At Meek Mill Amidst Drake Beef

During one of his concerts in Sweden, 50 Cent decided to bring the smoke. He took shots at other members of Maybach Music Group, amidst his beef with their leader, Rick Ross. Specifically, he praised Drake’s diss track against Meek, “Back To Back.” Furthermore, he compared the two to kids fighting in the schoolyard, saying that Drake “slapped the shit” out of Meek.

Jan 16, 2016: Meek Drops “Gave ‘Em Hope’”

In 2016, Meek Mill released the EP 4/4 which featured the track “Gave ‘Em Hope.” The song included some targeted lines that called out 50 Cent for associating himself with “rats,” possibly referencing a photo of 50 Cent and Rick Ross’ groundskeeper who accused the MMG boss of kidnapping him. Meek Mill also took jabs at 50 Cent for filing for bankruptcy. Finally, he called back to the rumors that 50 Cent was gay.

Jan 17, 2016: An Instagram Battle Royale

Shortly after, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Meek Mill’s song. In true Fif fashion, he clowned the “Gave ‘Em Hope” rapper. He shared memes with captions, such as, “You better focus on getting Nikki pregnant so you can at least get child support girl.” He also called Meek, “Hip Hop’s first r***rded MC,” among many others.

50 Cent didn’t stop there though. He also posted some creative edits of Meek Mill, such as putting his face on a troll magazine cover, posting a picture of the alphabet, and replacing the letter “L” with Meek’s face. As if that wasn’t enough, Fif also uploaded a picture of the poop emoji, covered with little pictures of Meek. Much to the excitement of onlookers, the Insta trolling wasn’t one-sided.

Meek doubled down with an Instagram post, sharing a picture of himself holding stacks of money with a loaded caption. He spoke on 50 Cent’s beef with Rick Ross and how Ross’ baby mama sued him. Meek also took shots at Fif’s relationship with his son. To top it off, he insulted his liquor brand and clowned him for being on the internet all day. He then signed out as “Instafingers,” referring to the nickname Drake had given him during their beef — “Twitter fingers.”

January 18-29, 2016: The Flint Water Crisis And “F*ck Meek Mill”

Amidst their Instagram squabbles, some fans pointed out that both rappers could better spend their time, specifically by helping out the Flint, MI water crisis. Meek Mill, who is no stranger to charitable donations, pledged $50,000 to the cause. He also used the opportunity to challenge Fif to match his donation. Instead, 50 Cent only responded publicly with more memes, claiming that Meek Mill only engaged in charity work for the tax write-offs. A few weeks later, 50 Cent got the crowd to chant “Fuck Meek Mill” with him at his performance at B.B. Kings.

July 2017: 50 Cent And Meek Mill Squash Their Beef

Meek Mill released his next album, Wins & Losses a year later, but instead of more 50 Cent disses, Meek revealed during the album’s press run that the two had made amends. In an interview on The Angie Martinez Show, Meek revealed that he and 50 had bumped into each other nearly a year ago and finally had a conversation. He shared that the two, “went to the side like men and had a good conversation.” Therefore, the beef quietly ended behind the scenes.

Despite Meek Mill’s words, many fans didn’t believe that the two rappers had truly put their differences behind them. That is why when it came out that they would both be in Vegas for the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight, many thought that this would lead to a public altercation. Instead, the two shared the stage at the nightclub Drai’s, performing one of Meek’s biggest hits, “Dreams & Nightmares.” They also posed for pictures together.

March 2024: 50 Cent Laughs At Meek Mill Jokes

While 50 Cent and Meek Mill haven’t exactly been engaging one another, 2024 is looking different. In December 2023, Fif laughed at Rick Ross and Meek’s first week sales for their collab album, Too Good To Be True. However, that didn’t stir the pot enough to warrant another social media back-and-forth. Fast forward to March 2024, and 50 Cent has publicly reposted jokes and insults targeted at Meek Mill. So while he’s not the originator of these jokes, he’s enjoying being an instigator.

Amidst the ongoing Diddy scandal, allegations that the mogul and Meek Mill were engaged in a sexual relationship haven’t stopped making the rounds. Fif shared a video of someone in a red dress, with the caption, “Meek Mill leaving Diddy’s house.” Although the post has since been deleted, 50 Cent remarked, “Who did this?” at the video.

Moreover, following Andrew Schulz’s comedy set where he laughed at Meek Mill’s alleged sexuality, 50 Cent also reposted the video to his platform. It’s unclear whether Fif is just trolling as usual or there’s been a reignited beef. Either way, Meek hasn’t responded to the trolls directly.

April 2024: “They Think You On Them Tapes”

As Meek Mill continues to insist he’s straight, 50 Cent says the rapper has more to worry about. In fact, Fif has told Meek to leave the gay rumors alone and focus on the gossip surrounding an alleged tape involving Diddy. Meek earlier shared that his son was confused at the rumors surrounding his sexuality. Fif subsequently reposted one of these headlines regarding Meek’s statement to Instagram and captioned it, saying: “Got Damn it. People don’t think you are gay @meekmillnews they think you on them tapes. Old boy was filming every room even the toilets.” So maybe Fif does have Meek’s back after all.

Meek Mill Drops Visuals For “Came From The Bottom”

Meek Mill has not been having the greatest last few weeks or so. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper has been dealing with the shade from DJ Akademiks, 50 Cent, and more for his alleged ties to Diddy. The homosexual jokes and overall ridicule he has received has been coming in droves, something that is assuredly fed up with at this point. He has tried ruthlessly to clear his name and sexuality, but to not much avail. On top of that, Meek Mill has not been doing so hot on the music front either. Both of his recent releases, Too Good To Be True with Rick Ross, and his independently released solo tape HEATHENISM, suffered from lackluster sales figures.

However, Meek is not prone to giving up on himself and has shown that throughout his over decade long career. For HEATHENISM, Meek placed five songs on it and four of them have gotten music videos. The most recent one of the bunch to receive a set of visuals is “Came from the Bottom.” It is the multi-phased intro that may be one of his more entertaining performances as of late.

Meek Mill “Came From The Bottom” Music Video

In this music video, Meek shows some family pictures for the storytelling half of the track. The more mellow vibe of the visuals matches well with what Mill’s lyrics are portraying. Then, when the track transitions into its more aggressive second half, the video gets wilder. All the money that Mill was counting up at the start soon gets tossed at women, and it correlates to the faster and more energetic energy of the song.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new music video for “Came from the Bottom” by Meek Mill? Is this the best track on HEATHENISM, why or why not? Meek Mill Clowned For Asking Twitter Users For Financial Advice

Meek Mill is a millionaire, and a lot of folks believe that this puts him out of any regular conversations going on around social media on a daily basis. Moreover, fans recently clowned him for asking his Twitter followers, and the platform as a whole, for some business tips. “I need a person in china to source products for my companies anybody online that’s popular for doing that and connecting with businesses in America?” the Philly MC inquired online. While his presence on social media these days has mostly been dominated by the Diddy allegations that surround him, fans took a break to question why he’s asking Internet users for CFO-level advice.

“Bruh just use Alibaba lmfaooo,” one fan joked, whereas another wrote, “How you a millionaire with zero connections.” Others clowned Meek Mill for taking to Twitter when search engines are a thing, such as this amusing example: “I swear meek thinks twitter is google.” Of course, there were also plenty of people actually offering their help, whether it was just to troll the “Soul Survivors” rapper or to try to get their big business break. We wonder whether any of them actually got a DM at press time, or if he will heed his followers’ advice and check in with Michael Rubin or something.

Meek Mill & Akademiks Beef Timeline

Numerous ups and downs have marked the dynamic between Meek Mill and Akademiks in recent years. Their ongoing feud escalated dramatically this year, culminating in Meek Mill blocking DJ Akademiks on X. The heated exchange between the two also played out extensively on the platform. For those unfamiliar with the origins of their conflict, here’s a timeline outlining the evolution of their feud.

2017: The Everyday Struggle Interview

The beef between the Off the Record host and Meek Mill began in 2017 following the release of Meek’s Wins & Losses album. In a 2017 episode of Everyday Struggle, Akademiks detailed the start of the beef, asserting that it stemmed from his failure to adequately promote the album on his platform. “Meek, he didn’t appreciate I didn’t post his album,” he explained. “However, it was really confusing to me ’cause about six months ago, Meek had sent me a DM. Him and the rest of the ‘Chasers, they gave me a little digital jump and a light one. They said, ‘Listen, either post us this way or don’t post us at all.’”

Akademiks went on to say that Meek and the ‘Chasers soon began threatening him. He claims that that’s when he decided not to post the artist at all. “Next thing I’m seeing, they were threatening me,” he continued. ‘When I see him, I’ma gonna give him a wedgie, I’ma slap him.’ I’m like, ‘Oh shit! I think I’m posting them wrong.’ So, I stopped posting them.”

June-July 2020: Meek Mill Wants Akademiks Canceled

At the end of June 2020, Meek Mill attempted to get Akademiks canceled. He claimed that the host helped escalate beef that had gotten people killed and had never contributed positively to the culture. He took to X and wrote: “Akademiks canceled because he’s a bad police and our culture don’t need them… he also gassed a lot of beef that got people killed and hurt and never donated a dollar to the culture! We gon holla at you next run champ lol.”

A few days later, Meek Mill threatened to “greenlight” Akademiks on X, claiming that the host only made money “off the trenches.” However, Akademiks turned the tables against Meek. In a live video, Akademiks admitted that he had called the police on Meek Mill for trying to green-light him. He stated: “Just remember that Meek Mill is nothing but a hypocrite… I know Ak is supposed to be the dude who like you could just get everything off on. Cool, I’m just trying to tell you that bro, I‘m just not into being bullied… Stop telling the world you’re greenlighting people and just do what you have to do. ‘Cause when you said green lighting, I sent that to the police. I’m gonna be honest with you.”

December 2020: The End?

The beef between the rapper and host reached boiling point in December 2020 on the Clubhouse app. The two went toe to toe, exchanging harsh words. Meek Mill also used the opportunity to bring up Akademiks fueling beef with other rappers. Thankfully, rapper 21 Savage was also in the Clubhouse at the time and mediated between the two.

After the chat, both Meek Mill and Akademiks took to X to praise 21 Savage for his commendable act. Meek wrote: “If you was there you know it was a great start for communication in hip hop! The way 21 handled it inspired me and was a good highlight!” Similarly, Akademiks also posted, “21 savage one of the realest n***as in Hip Hop. he can call a n***a on their bullshit but still fw then & accept them 4 what they r.. if anybody ever seen the convo we had … we talked privately the same exact way. I appreciate a n***a being himself no matter who in the room.”

Following the peace that was brought finally between Meek Mill and Akademiks, the podcast host sat with The Breakfast Club two years later and praised 21 Savage once more for helping to squash the beef between him and Meek. “21 Savage did something I thought was very dope,” he began. “He gave this explanation, he said, ‘When two friends are going at it, if it goes far enough, you got to pick a side.’ And he basically said it was going to a point where he was going to be forced to be like, ‘Yo, are you really rocking with this nigga Ak or you rocking over here?’”

February 2024: Akademiks Calls Meek Mill Out

The beef between the two was reignited in February 2024, after Akademiks presented excerpts from a 73-page lawsuit against Diddy. In the document, Meek’s name was notably absent. However, Akademiks specifically referred to Meek as one of the persons mentioned in the suit. Akademiks called Meek out, stating: “you been tweeting about everything on planet Earth. If you don’t get a Twitter rant saying you about to get Lil Rod killed, you bout to shoot up his block, blow up his momma’s house… This n***a saying you and Diddy were fornicating! What the f**k? Meek!?”

Meek Mill, however, took offense in the video and immediately came after Akademiks on X. He ranted: “Akademiks didn’t I tell you stop playing with my name… idk what ima do when I actually see you! It’s gonna have a combination to it tho!” Soon after, Akademiks responded with a tweet of his own, showing his confusion as to why Meek was angry at him, especially since he didn’t believe the claims made in the lawsuit.

What followed was an intense battle between the two on the platform. Their tweets were filled with harsh words and insults, with Meek even threatening the host’s life. Meek also called Akademiks an alcoholic, and the host in return, said that Meek had fallen off. He also insisted that Meek was only mad because there was speculation about his sexuality.

March 2024: Still At It

In early March, Akademiks went on live stream and called out Meek Mill for their ongoing beef on X. In the live stream, he then revealed that the police were present at his doorstep, and attributed and alleged that Meek had summoned them. Later in the month, the “Going Bad” rapper revealed on X that he planned to block Akademiks on the social media platform. Meek Mill eventually tweeted that he had finally followed through with his plans. Alongside a screenshot of him blocking Akademiks, he wrote: “Okay it’s over y’all I wanted to see how many days I could make a bad geek lose sleep lol I blocked him.” When Akademiks found out that he could no longer access Meek’s X page, he took it in stride. He happily declared himself the winner of their online war. He tweeted: “No Way Meek Mill blocked Me… I out tweeted Mr Twitter Fingers himself.”

Meek Mill & Wale Beef: A Timeline Of Firing Shots & Reconciliation

The beef between rap heavyweights Meek Mill and Wale has spanned for about a decade now, much longer than many fans thought it would last. Since 2014, the two have fired shots at each other. There were moments of peace in between, and once or twice, fans even thought the two had finally reconciled for good.

However, the feud was always revived by either of the two. Even in April 2024, they are still going at it, although Wale is maintaining his peace this time around. At this point, their fans wonder if the pair will ever truly reconcile. Another set of onlookers wonder if the feud has been staged all along, particularly because of its on-and-off nature. Here is a timeline of the longstanding beef between Meek Mill and Wale.

2014: The Feud Begins And Quickly Ends

The genesis of this beef can be traced back to July 2014. While there may have been some tension between Meek Mill and Wale before then, it was in 2014 that the beef officially began in public. In detail, on July 8, 2014, Meek Mill took to Twitter to get some things off his chest about Wale. In a series of tweets, he accused Wale of being unsupportive and said the “Lotus Flower Bomb” rapper was not loyal to MMG. “Wale just ain’t gone tweet a thing about my album…. He’s been hating on me long time now,” one of the tweets read.

Subsequently, only a few hours later, Wale responded to Meek Mill’s tweets with a lengthy caption on Instagram. “I’m sensitive ok. Maybe bi polar. But one thing I’m not is a hater,” a part of the now-deleted post reads. Soon after, Rick Ross, MMG label boss, quelled the beef between the two. Speaking with Global Grind later in July 2014, Ross shared how he stepped in to de-escalate things. “Those are brothers, you know. Soon as those tweets went out, we all got on the phone, and, you know, that was the end of it,” he said.

2015: The Beef Starts Up Again

After July 2014, all seemed to be well between Meek Mill and Wale again. As a matter on fact, when Wale addressed the feud in June 2015, the rapper called Mill family. “We’re just a brotherhood. We’re both competitive. We both want to be the best,” he said, speaking to MTV. However, it wasn’t long afterward that something happened to spark the flames of their feud up again. During an interview on The Breakfast Club in October 2015, Wale discussed Meek Mill’s beef with Drake. “I honestly think [Meek Mill] brought a pencil to a gun fight,” Wale said. Unfortunately, Meek Mill didn’t like that very much.

A few hours after the interview was uploaded on YouTube, Meek Mill already had some words for Wale. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Mill wrote, “N***as b doing all this to drop a new record gossiping about they h*e a*s feelings and they personal life because they miserable and nobody don’t rock wit them! Really stay away from me Fam! U not MMG NOMORE! This why u can’t get my number you a hoe! ???? and u dead cracked right now @wale foh nuttttt!”

“I wasn’t even mad at you Fam u got some real issues with yaself and you jealous! Broke rapper! This my last time I think addressing shit on the Internet… We don’t wanna hear you no more Fam! Go jump off a roof like u been trynado chump! He not MMG IM MAKING THAT CALL … He been tryna call me saying Rozay owe us money… He don’t owe me shit and if he do I’ll get it later …. Go that away!”

2015: Rick Ross Mediates Once Again

After Mill’s outburst, Rozay came into the picture yet again, quenching the fire of the beef. In a Snap video, he reassured fans that things between the two rappers had been ironed out.“Just got a few calls with n***as asking me about my little brothers, the squad. It’s MMG forever, n***a. The empire. F**k that,” Rick Ross said. Concluding with concise lines that got fans excited, he said, “MMG, b*tch. Young Meek Mill. Legend Wale. Self Made 4.” The announcement of the album possibly dropping soon was enough to distract fans from the beef.

Subsequently, in November 2015, Rozay spoke further about the beef being over and done with. In an interview with AllHipHop.com, he said, “You know, those brothers forever. That’s my family. As you can see it’s already done came and went. It’s all about making dope music. And like I said, I feel like me being in a position I am. Me being a boss. Me being as experienced as I am, I feel like them going through that, or whatever you call it, in 10 years when they’re executives they’re gonna be able to give that same game to youngstas. Like ‘Yo, I did that before, but this how we do it.’ I look at things different.”

2020:  Meek Mill & Wale Have Seemingly Buried The Hatchet

On October 6, 2020, Meek Mill shared a very exciting photo on Instagram. The photo featured Mill and Wale, both with masks on. Following their beef, many fans doubted their relationship could ever go back to being what it was. However, they seemed to be well on their way to being great friends again. The now-deleted post was captioned “Me and @wale argued a thousand times & made millions together #MMGVIBES” with a hug emoji. Seeing the pair like that warmed the hearts of many fans, understandably.

2023: Rick Ross Speaks On Meek Mill & Wale

On May 13, 2023, an episode of Drink Champs featuring Rick Ross premiered. During his appearance on the show, Rozayspoke about everything from African music, to Wingstop and DJ Khaled. The MMG boss also made sure to briefly gush about Wale and Meek Mill, two of the signees he’s most proud of. “Without a doubt, to just see them grow and for me to be a young CEO. Of course, I’m already f**king with my brothers Gunplay, them my n***as. But going out and signing Wale and signing Meek, and watching what they both blossomed into, it felt good because I just knew I was correct on what I seen. I saw that they were both geniuses. I saw that they were both dope as f**k,” Rozay said proudly.

January 2024: Meek Mill Says He Holds No Grudges Against Wale

During a Q&A session with his X (formerly Twitter) fans on January 20, 2024, someone asked Meek Mill if he had an ongoing feud with Wale. “Hellllllllllllll no. We had our arguments b4 years back but I came in this game getting money with him …I’m not holding no grudges against my peoples.. and for what???” Meek Mill wrote. This was an answer most fans of the two rappers were very happy to see. Unfortunately, not very long afterward, the feud was revived.

April 2024: Meek Mill Lashes Out And Wale Responds

In a surprising turn of events, Meek Mill took to X to take shots at Wale on April 8, 2024. This happened a day after a photo of Wale surfaced with Dean Stay Reddy, an ex-friend of Mill’s who he now considers an enemy. “Wale never liked me… now ima treat him like the streets everytime I see him … Igave him 1000 chances these guys be thinking they linking with the enemy clown a** ni**a I wish I woulda knew the other day I woulda stretched you,” Mill wrote.

Soon after, Wale responded. “When u get in other people unserious drama in this industry 90 [percent] of the time they be back friends… eventually ..and then u look silly… in the end… so I love minding my business. If a photo can create such vitriol, one has to ask himself some questions. Happy Monday,” he wrote. Subsequently, Meek Mill replied with a series of tweets that included jabs calling Wale “a hoe” and “jealous.”

Meek Mill Returns to Funk Flex for Another Fire Freestyle

Meek Mill is pulling the curtain back on his household, revealing how Internet rumros about his sexuality have impacted his son.

During his run of X tweets, Meek revealed he doesn’t believe anything about Diddy once his name was drug into the madness.

“I don’t believe no Diddy story once they lied about me now! Anybody try to sexually assault me it will be a bang out on the spot how yall don’t know that lol I don’t care but yall confusing my son he’s 12 with people saying his dad gay it’s sick now outchea so f–k it,” Mill wrote on X.

It looks like everybody in hip-hop is catching the rap beef bug. After Kendrick Lamar threw a lyrical chair in the direction of Drake and J. Cole on Future and Metro Boomin’s new album a few weeks ago, all hell has broken loose. The chaos now encompasses GloRilla and JT, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, and now, even Meek Mill is letting his Twitter fingers fly again (I guess he forgot what happened the last time he got too reckless online).

This time, the target for Meek’s ire is another frequent collaborator: former Maybach Music Group compatriot Wale, who apparently was seen in a photo with another rapper with whom Meek has an unfriendly relationship. Ant Glizzy, a rapper from Washington, DC — like Wale — had previously done an interview with Akademiks in which he suggested that Wale and Meek had so much friction that Wale apparently “hated” Meek.

After Wale wrote, “When u get in other people unserious drama in this industry 90pct of the time they be back friends… eventually ..and then u look silly,” Meek unleashed a torrent of criticism for his former labelmate, despite previously shutting down rumors of beef between the two.

Sharing a link to Akademiks’ TikTok (apparently ignoring he has had it in for the Instagram influencer for some time, as well), Meek snapped back, “I ignored this because if this was true you would be in danger … but now I see you around guys that’s on full meek campaigns.” In a follow-up, he also insinuated that he even risked his freedom while on probation to jump into a fight and save Wale, who was getting “beat up” at his own birthday party.

“When I met wale he got beat up at his bday party in dc got his teeth knocked out,” he wrote. “I jumped in because a celebrity like him invited me I was violating probation in dc risked my life… to find out he never liked me will make you angry! That’s just me tho… I tried to be cool with this lame for Ross business I woulda been treated him.”

Maybe Meek’s still drunk from partying at Wrestlemania… But at some point, you’d think he would learn to handle his problems out of the public eye.

Meek Mill Clowned For How He Yelled At The Rock During Wrestlemania

Meek Mill and a whole host of other celebrities had a blast at Wrestlemania over the weekend, but folks are still to caught up with allegations of his involvement in the Diddy scandal to notice. What’s most sad and silly of all is that the only thing these folks are focusing on is the accusation that he’s homosexual and not the actual crimes allegedly committed by or against him, which has them clowning him for pretty much any and everything he does. “Get up!” the Philly MC tells Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a clip from the event, and many fans thought that his tone was not up to their standard of traditional masculinity. Under the IG post below, you’ll unfortunately find plenty of comments like this: “Meek dat “get up” was freaky ash.”

Furthermore, Meek Mill is still making significant strides in the music world and taking his career in new areas. For example, there’s his recent Millyz collab “Soul Survivors” and his plans to start a new record label and enter even more of a boss position than what he has with Dream Chasers. Hopefully the 36-year-old continues to have fun and enjoy himself, and takes time offline to focus on his craft and his community efforts. After all, this whole scandal proved quite distracting for the headlines with no legal charges or resolution in sight.

Sadly, Meek Mill also had to deal with some in-house conflicts. “Imagine building an engineer up teaching them presets working for years,” he tweeted about an engineer who expressed regret over working with him instead of Jay-Z. “to hear them say they woulda went to Paris instead of worked on what we building sound like jay groupies. Jay my family … yall be selling yall self short and may never even make it to him.

“When I met Cruz he was the store runner I needed an engineer and started using him everyday,” the anti-gun violence advocate concluded. Whatever the future holds for him, we’re sure it won’t be asy to navigate. But a head held high and a healthy amount of silence go a long way.
