Quentin Miller visited the New Rory and Mal podcast and had a ton to say. The conversation went into the 2016 beef between Meek Mill and Drake and how he played a role in it.

Miller recalled a run-in with Meek Mill and the Dreamchasers that was deescalated until a message from Nicki Minaj, Meek’s bae at the time, changed everything.

“I found out, and I don’t know how true this is, but I found out that that was a Nicki Minaj call,” Miller said. “When Meek evaluated ‘you not a street dude, you not on that street sh*t,’ and they dipped, I heard when they went back to the car, it was Nicki that was like ‘Naw, run that.’”

Rory and Mal would interject and ask if it was a fact. His response was DJ Drama appearing on the show weeks before and stating, “Nicki did something wrong.” Miller still blames the entire ordeal on Meek Mill. Although he felt the alleged message from Minaj was “fucked up” due to him and his daughter being fans of the Video Vanguard rapper.

You can hear Quentin Miller recall the events below.

Jay-Z Uses “God Did” Verse To Address Meek Mill’s Roc Nation Departure

In July, Meek Mill announced that he had left Roc Nation to pursue a career as an independent artist. Meek claimed that Roc Nation, who he had signed to a management deal with in 2012, did nothing to help promote his latest album Expensive Pain, which debuted at no. 3 on the Billboard 200. He added that Roc Nation would not let him release any more music for another 9 months until his contract was up and blamed the label for ruining his relationship with Roddy Ricch.

While Jay-Z has remained silent on Meek’s departure, he recently addressed the situation in his verse of “God Did” off of DJ Khaled’s latest album of the same name. According to Jay, everything is still cool between him and the Philadelphia MC.

“Me and Meek could never beef, I freed that n***a from a whole bid, Hov did/ Next time we have a discussion who the G.O.A.T., you donkeys know this,” Jay rapped.

After his abrupt departure from Roc Nation, Meek Mill said that he and Jay-Z were still friends. “All I seen today was meek and roc part ways …I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments with Jigga,” Meek tweeted. “And roc nation is my family don’t mix my post aimed at Atlantic mixed up with roc or MMG …they ain’t stop nothing I’m doing we made about a 100m together des mike and Hov saved my life b4 And put a lot of energy into it I’m not behind on my favors in life wit my people I’m good.”

Jay-Z Quells Rumors About His And Meek Mill’s Relationship And Explains They Could ‘Never Beef’

Hours after the release of DJ Khaled’s new album God Did, #HOVDID is trending on Twitter as rap fans marvel at Jay-Z’s four-minute verse on the album’s title track. Firmly re-establishing the 30-year veteran as rap’s GOAT, the verse finds Jay in top form, rattling off his billionaire accomplishments, expressing his astonishment at not just surviving but thriving as a Black man in America, and flexing his work in social justice.

He also clears the air regarding his standing with his friend and frequent collaborator Meek Mill. Earlier this year, after Meek expressed discontent with music industry standards, from fiddling with first-week sales numbers to issuing opaque contracts to wrest ownership of music away from young artists, the Philadelphia rapper parted ways with Jay’s Roc Nation management company, prompting speculation that a rift had formed between them. Meek’s comments also had fans wondering about his standing with MMG label founder Rick Ross, who denied that there was any friction between the two artists.

Jay’s new verse may put those rumors to bed for good as he clarifies, “Me and Meek could never beef,” and explains why: “I freed that n**** from a whole bid.” This refers to Jay’s assistance in securing an end to Meek’s incarceration for a parole violation in 2018. After having Meek’s original arrest revisited and his conviction thrown out, the two later partnered on a number of social justice initiatives to help other victims of the carceral justice system such as REFORM Alliance.

DJ Drama Says Everybody Involved In The 2015 Drake And Meek Mill Beef “Did Something Wrong”

DJ Drama Finds Out He Wins a Grammy Before His Dreamville Set

It’s crazy to think that Drake and Meek Mill have the friendship they have today after their beef in 2015. Drake won the beef, even after Meek responded, with the track “Back to Back” where he basically told Meek that he was playing second fiddle in his then relationship with Nicki Minaj. In a new interview with Rory and Mal, Drama said that he thinks both Drake and Meek “did something wrong” during their beef.

“Listen, everybody did something wrong, everybody,” DJ Drama said. “Quentin did something wrong, DJ Drama did something wrong, Drake did something wrong, Meek Mill did something wrong, Nicki Minaj did something wrong, like everybody played a role.”

He continued: “We can sit here today and talk about it. Listen, everyone I named, I love y’all to death. I hope no one takes this the wrong way again. It’s water under the bridge, it went down. It was a Hip Hop moment, like it’s Hip Hop history. Those guys have gotten to tell their true sides of their stories.”

The beef between Drake and Meek started after Meek called Drake out on Twitter for not helping promote his second studio album Dreams Worth More Than Money. Meek accused Drake of not writing his own lyrics. He then revealed that it was Quentin Miller who was writing Drake’s music, and went on to release audio of reference tracks from “10 Bands”, “Used To”, “Know Yourself” and Drizzy’s guest verse on “R.I.C.O. Drake would respond with “Charged Up,” and then when Meek failed to respond, Drake dropped “Back to Back.”

DJ Drama was involved in the beef after rumors spread that he gave Meek the leaked reference tracks in retaliation for Drake sleeping with his ex-wife Summer P Walker.

Since then, the Generation Now founder and Drake have made amends, with Drake featuring on Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs” and appearing alongside him in the music video.
