Meek Mill Reveals He and Drake Have Frequent Text Conversation and a Strong Relationship

That Meek Mill and Drake beef is long in the past. Pulling up on SiriusXM’s Hip Hop Nation to talk about his new single with RIck Ross, Meek revealed he and The Boy have fostered a very strong relationship.

“Me and Drake talking to each other a lot,” Meek aid. “Somebody was sayin ‘Slime You Out’ was corny.’ I texted him. I was like, ‘I don’t think ‘Slime You Out’ is corny, and I would tell you if I thought it was corny.’ But on the internet now we got it like that, where we could like be brutal.”

Meek also stated Drake would tell him if a song was corny and he he is happy to be in a space where he and Drake can talk about anything. “We ain’t had that before the beef,” he said.

Drake has been walking through the crowd on his way to the stage as part of his It’s All A Blur Tour. With The Boy arriving in Philadelphia in August, Drake was escorted to the stage by Meek Mill.

Once he took the stage, Drake spoke about his history with Meek and how it once got spicy for him during a trip to Philly.

“I don’t stand up here and lie to nobody,” Drake said. “You see who I walked out here with, right? I’ma always keep it 100 with you. The last time I was in this building, that man right here, he’s been representing this city since he started in this shit.

“We weren’t getting along at the time and he’s a real nigga so he definitely got us up out of Philly real quick. We didn’t stick around and chill. It means the most to me that I could come back to this city and I could show the growth as two men that we come together and represent for mothafckin’ Philadelphia together.’”

Rick Ross And Meek Mill’s Newly-Announced Joint Album Might Be ‘Too Good To Be True,’ But It’s Coming ‘ASAP’

Rick Ross and Meek Mill are teaming up for a joint album, Too Good To Be True, and it’s coming “ASAP” they told Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. According to Pitchfork, Ross said, “This just was a quick vibe. Maybe two and a half months, you know what I’m saying?” They’ve already released the first single, “Shaq & Kobe,” which you can check out above.

Meanwhile, Rick Ross has brought his Maybach Music Group imprint to a new home, according to Billboard. MMG is now partnered with Gamma, which bills itself as an artist-friendly alternative to the major label system. Founded by former Apple Music Global Creative Director Larry Jackson and veteran music executive Ike Youssef, Gamma is backed by Apple and A24, among others, and offers a suite of resources for the creation, distribution, and marketing of music and related media.

Jackson said of the partnership, “Rick Ross epitomizes the multimedia and multi-faceted content pioneer that Gamma was created to amplify. We couldn’t be happier to formalize our relationship, welcome him to the Gamma family, and propel the trajectory of an already well-established empire. We’re beyond excited for the world to experience his surprise, highly anticipated collab reunion album with Meek.”

Calling the collab album “anticipated” might be a stretch; if anything, it comes as a surprise after relations between the mentor and protege seemed strained in recent years. After Meek complained about his record contract on Twitter, some fans thought he might have friction with Rick Ross, to whose Maybach Music Group he’s been signed almost since the beginning of his career. The duo reunited on stage late last year, but hadn’t even hinted at the possibility of a joint project until earlier this week.

The rap reunion most fans thought would never happen has arrived. Rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross joined forces on their new collaborative track, “Shaq & Kobe.” The Maybach Music Group members’ rumored falling-out is water under the bridge as the two floated across the track produced by ATL Jacob.

Instead of flooding the record with tons of name flips of the late Kobe Bryant, the dynamic duo embodiment his “Mamba mentality.” Neither waste a bar on a warm-up because there’s no time. Both jump straight into their performance to display their lyrical dominance. On the chorus, they paid homage to Bryant on the record’s chorus, both rapping, “Too much money and power / Walk up in the spot and punched the stuffings, keep tuckin’ the chopper / Too much money and power / Hustle in twenty-four hours.”

Ross takes a moment in his solo verse to address his lavish living arrangements (where the buffalos roam) that caused a stir with neighbors back in March. “Ya b*tch still at home with her mind blown / I got a pool of parrots and some buffaloes / And I got a pool in Paris in a bungalow / Still flippin’ numbers talking summer sauce / Everybody get to eat, that’s what a winner called / Sippin’ champagne, I own it myself / You n****s better learn to own you some wealth,” bragged Ross.

Rick Ross Blasts DJ Envy On Funk Flex For Fraud Scheme

Rick Ross isn’t done with DJ Envy, who have been beefing for months over their competing car shows and pulling out dirt on each other. The latest battleground for this feud was live on the airwaves with Funk Flex, who joined the rapper in a takedown of The Breakfast Club‘s co-host. Not only that, but their disparaging remarks and jests also extended to the DJ’s radio partner Charlamagne Tha God, although it was all more comical than anything. Mostly, Rozay took aim at Envy by clowning his alleged real estate fraud scheme, which he staunchly denied despite continued accusations against him. It’s quite the lengthy and loud clip, and we’d expect nothing less from the Maybach Music Group mogul.

Moreover, it seems like Meek Mill was also in the building for this exchange, as he and Rick Ross have a lot to celebrate these days. Their new collab single, “Shaq & Kobe,” is making big waves right now, especially off of the strength of their full collab album announcement. Of course, this means that their press run is pretty exciting right now, even if they’re also using it to further social media beef. It’s quite bizarre to see, but considering the Carol City native’s attitude and approach on the Internet, it shouldn’t come as much surprise.

Rick Ross & Funk Flex Go At DJ Envy’s Alleged Scamming

After all, he even reached out to Tyrese for a collab, who’s also roped up in his own dispute with DJ Envy. As such, Rick Ross is here for all the smoke, and wants to fire on all cylinders and make friends out of the enemies of his enemy. Regardless of all of this speculation, Envy’s legal team also maintains that he isn’t involved at all in the scheme people are pinning on him. “DJ Envy also gave $500k as an investment, which he has not received back yet,” his lawyer claimed concerning his own victimization in this scam.

Meanwhile, there’s little reason to believe that these defenses would halt the Biggest Boss’ trolling. Even though it’s a contentious debate, the animosity between these two is clear as day. Meek Mill And Rick Ross Will Reunite For Another Ambitious Single With ‘Shaq & Kobe’

Rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross are considered one of the great dynamic duos. But now they’re going to honor another great pair, this one from the world of basketball. The two will reunite for another ambitious single, “Shaq & Kobe,” paying homage to the NBA Basketball Hall Of Fame inductees.

Meek uploaded the forthcoming track’s official cover art in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) page. He went on to tell fans about the inspiration behind the song.

“Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [O’Neal]. R.I.P. to the G.O.A.T., legend, and father! I learned my motivation and ambition from you. I ain’t have a dad. I was going off y’all. Thank you. Friday [September 29],” wrote Meek.

Meek’s admiration for Bryant was shaken in 2021 when the late athlete’s widow, Vanessa, called him out for what she considered to be insensitive lyrics.

On an unreleased track with fellow rapper Lil Baby, Meek says the line, “And if I ever lack I’m going out with my chopper, it be another Kobe,” referencing Bryant’s fatal helicopter crash. Meek has since apologized to the Bryant family, and one assumes this song will remain respectful.

Thanks to social media, most of the drama that unfolds within the music industry is quickly plastered across the internet for fans to react to. However, there are still things that go down behind closed doors, some of which only come to light years later during podcast interviews or dramatic blowouts. Since Nicki Minaj confirmed her Pink Friday 2 album is dropping later this year, there’s been a notable increase in the number of unflattering stories about the mother of one in the news. K. Michelle only contributed to that while recording an episode of R&B Money, reflecting on some things that Minaj allegedly stole from her earlier in their careers.

“‘Buy A Heart’ was on a Meek Mill album, and Nicki Minaj’s mean a** took it from me,” the 41-year-old told Tank and J Valentine. “Atlantic Records put me in with Meek Mill ‘cuz he needed some love songs,” she explained to the confused hosts. “He played that record, it wasn’t on his album. I said, ‘Oh, you sleeping on this.’ So I got the record,” Michelle shared. At the time, she wasn’t aware of the Philly native’s romantic relationship with Minaj, but the Queen of Rap was well aware of her existence.

K. Michelle Recalls Uncomfortable Past with Nicki Minaj

“I had never slept with Meek, none of that,” the “Can’t Raise a Man” singer clarified. “She wanted to take the record from me, and she said that he had to take back his chain from me.” Michelle noted that she was always a fan of Minaj’s, and didn’t think she had done anything to upset the “Only” artist.

In the end, “Buy A Heart” ended up on one of Minaj’s previous albums with her then-boyfriend as a featured artist. It’s been nearly a decade since The Pinkprint first landed, but its influence remains undeniable – even if the Trinidadian wasn’t the original owner of all the songs.

Meek Mill Haggles With Local Business, Fans Blast Him

Breaking the awkward tension between you and an employee while they are helping you is not the easiest thing to do. Most people struggle with starting conversations with a stranger for many reasons. It could be because they have social anxieties, or just have an irrational fear of meeting new people. On the employee’s side, they might be new to the job, and when a customer does try to interact with them, they panic and get nervous. It is an everyday reality of life as new interactions bring forth many challenges. That is what might have happened in this video with Meek Mill and a convenience store worker.

In some footage acquired by nojumper’s Instagram account, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper made a quick stop. He stopped in at what appears to be a convenience store that is locally owned. It is cool when famous people head into places like this because if people see stuff online, it might draw in more customers. The young man appears to not be familiar with who he is dealing with, but the fans do.

In the clip, Mill is trying to get a deal on some candy and soda (or pop). He asks the clerk, “You givin’ us a deal?” He does so a few times and the comments section was not having it. One person says, “That dreams and nightmares money ain’t dreaming and nightmaring like it’s supposed to huh?” But others came to his defense, saying, “We from Philly that’s the first thing we gone say is give us a deal and we can have a pocket full of money! It’s a Philly hood thing.” Meek appears to be joking around with the kid to loosen him up and make him laugh, but some did not take it that way.

Meek Mill Speaks On 12-Year-Old Found Dead In Philadelphia

Meek Mill has taken it upon himself to speak out about gun violence in his city. The Philly native took to his Instagram story to share a heartwrenching story. Recently, the body of a 12-year-old with a gunshot wound to his head was found in a dumpster. According to ABC News, an investigation is currently underway. The young victim was identified as Hezekiah Bernard.

In the post, Meek Mill delivered a call to action to the Black community about fighting back against inner-city violence. “They playing so ruthless in Philly. The self-hatred level on 1000 degrees with Blacks… and it’s only getting worse,” he wrote in one post. In another post, he talked about gathering the “old heads” to “clear some of this sh*t up.”

They need to let us fight this sh*t back,” Meek Mill wrote. “Me and the old heads can clear some of this sh*t up.” He continued on: “We need the jails behind us too so it’s no escaping! The wrong women or child get killed I don’t think we will be able to turn back.” Also, Staff Inspector Ernest Ransom, head of the police department’s homicide unit, has called on the public to help catch the offenders. “We need the help of the public to identify the offenders in this investigation,” Ransom said. “The focus of this investigation is the swift apprehension of those involved in this senseless death.” 

However, this isn’t the first time Meek Mill has used his platform to speak out against injustice. A few weeks back, he called out record labels for taking advantage of Black artists. Additionally, he accused them of profiting from Black murder and poverty. “It’s almost to a point where we going to aim artist and their entourage towards the ones taking out money and leading us to bad business decisions,” he began. “Fck these labels they operating without consequences in the biggest scheme to date.” The rapper added, “IF YOU LETTING LABELS TAKE YOUR MONEY HOW YOU BEEFING WITH N**AS IN THE HOOD OVER NOTHING.”

Meek Mill Credits Jadakiss For “Guiding” Him In His Youth

Meek Mill recently took the time to give one of his favorite artists, Jadakiss. On Sunday (August 27), Meek shared his appreciation of The Lox rapper via his Instagram Story. Using a picture of an old mugshot — alongside Rudy Giuliani’s recent one — he plays The Lox’s 2000 track, “Blood Pressure.” It appeared on the trio’s We Are the Streets album. “This why Kiss was my favorite rapper,” he wrote in the post. “I felt like he was guiding me as a lost kid!”In recent years, Meek and Jadakiss have collaborated on several tracks, including “Heaven Or Hell,” “Every Time,” and “Real Shot.”

The Philly rapper has often talked about his harsh upbringing in the city of “brotherly love.” In a 2019 interview with Billboard, the rapper spoke about how his fighter mentality led to his interest in boxing. That year, he served as executive producer DAZN and Roc Nation-produced 40 Days: Joshua-Ruiz. The docu-series follows Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. The rapper credits Mike Tyson for making him “fall in love” with boxing.

“I probably fell in love with boxing when I used to watch Mike Tyson,” he said. “I remember watching his one-round fights and him knocking people out all the time.” In other related news, it’s been reported that Meek and Rick Ross have been in the studio. The pair shared clips of the session on their perspective social media pages. Not only is the rapper a chart-topping hitmaker, but he’s also an active supporter of social justice causes.

Recently, he helped pass a criminal justice reform act with the governor of Illinois. The act aimed to prevent parolees from being sent back to jail for non-criminal violations. “That’s a milestone in my life. When I started making music, I was just trying to get out of the ghetto and my environment. But to be a part of something that changes bills and laws that actually affect me and my people, it’s my legacy.”

Meek Mill Complained To A Sneaker Reseller About His Prices For Jordans And He’s Getting Clowned For It Online

The Got Sole sneaker convention went down in New York City this past weekend, and Meek Mill was on hand looking to score some new footwear. One of his pickups in particular drew some attention, but because of how the transaction went.

In a video, Meek is seen discussing a pair of “Pine Green” Nike SB x Air Jordan 4’s with a reseller (as Complex notes). Currently, pairs of the shoe are available for around $300 per pair on StockX, depending on the size, but the reseller priced theirs at $500. (While writing this post, though, the most recently sold pair on StockX went for $517.)

Meek took exception to the pricing, but ultimately bought the shoes. He said, “I could buy these at the store right now for $300. You want $500? That’s a bad move. I’m going to buy them from you, but that’s a bad sell. You’re supposed to give it to Meek Mill for the low, get the commercial: Boom, I might come back and buy more, you know? […] Now I’m going to go to the next table and I might spend $5,000.”

Some people didn’t love Meek bringing his celebrity status into the equation, and the whole ordeal made Meek one of the top trending topics on X (formerly Twitter) today (August 21). One user wrote, “Well he got the publicity and the sale at his price. I understand what Meek is saying but it’s also predatory. He’s trying to strong arm him for a lower price, when he can clearly afford the price that’s being offered. Plus the price is on par for what others are charging.”

Somebody else tweeted, “First off this isn’t schooling. Your price is your price. I bet if he go to LV they making him pay and there isn’t any discounts. And they gladly pay it. Ain’t nobody trying to get no weak free promotion at all. Stand your ground on your price. Either buy it or move on.”

Some folks took Meek’s side, though, like one person who wrote, “Hustling backwards… Should have gave Meek that pair and an additional one for the $500. Sure you take the loss upfront but now you’re locked in as Meek’s shoe plug and can supply him and his team with all the sneakers they will need.” Somebody else responded, “He got the $500 and i seen this video so free publicity [crying laughing emoji].”
