Over the past couple days, it has looked like Lana Del Rey and Lizzo have had an unexpected feud with each other, but there’s a bit of confusion involved in the situation.
Are Lana Del Rey And Lizzo Beefing?
As Complex notes, a November 13 post from the X (formerly Twitter) account Drop Pop shared supposed screenshots of Lizzo commenting on a Del Rey TikTok video, “I’d like to see you back on the charts.” Del Rey allegedly replied, “I would love to see you run on a treadmill.”
However, Drop Pop is a self-proclaimed parody account and the screenshot was fake. Still the post made the rounds. Drop Pop eventually deleted it, but not before it racked up 20 million impressions, 380K likes, and 22K reposts.
A follow-up Drop Pop post portrayed Lizzo as responding, “I hope that alligator eats your big ass,” and Del Rey replying, “you’d know about eating biggie.”
As Pop Base (not a parody account) notes, Del Rey commented on an Instagram post about the fabricated feud, writing in three comments, “I don’t think I have an official TikTok, other than the grants one sooooo,” “Or a Twitter,” and, “Very random.”
So, there you have it: Lana and Lizzo are chill, no beef.
In one of the oddest social media “beefs” of 2024, Lana Del Rey and Lizzo almost became enemies in the music space, and it was all due to a troll account. Per Complex, Twitter account Drop Pop posted alleged screenshots of the latter commenting on a TikTok video of the former on Wednesday (November 13). “I’d like to see you back on the charts,” the Special singer supposedly wrote, with the “Tough” artist replying with “I would love to see you run on a treadmill.” A lot of fans saw this and completely forgot some key details, namely that Drop Pop is a parody account. They eventually deleted the post, but they did follow it up with another fake screenshot: “I hope that alligator eats your big a**” versus “you’d know about eating biggie.”
Then, Lana Del Rey commented on an Instagram post about the fabricated Lizzo beef with some more clarifications. “I don’t think I have an official TikTok, other than the grants one sooooo,” “Or a Twitter,” and “Very random” were her responses. Of course, both are known to not really take social media criticism too seriously. The Detroit flautist recently laughed off jabs from Antonio Brown about Ozempic.
As for Lana Del Rey, this fake Lizzo beef might not even be the most bizarre crossover with an artist outside of her genre and aesthetics this year. Fans expressed shock when she threw it back with Sexyy Red at the Hangout Festival, which was definitely not what they expected to see on their feed. They both seemed to have a great time and be well-aware of how odd this link-up must look to people on the outside.
In any case, we’re glad that Lana Del Rey and Lizzo aren’t at odds and we just hope that people stop mixing up these parody accounts with more straightforward reporting. After all, the latter has enough smoke to deal with from South Park, although she took it in stride like she always does. Both artists also face strong fan demand to follow up on their last projects with their next moves, so we’ll see what the future holds.
At its core, Stagecoach is a country music festival. Still, the event has historically cast a pretty wide net with its lineups. The 2025 lineup was just announced today (September 5) and it’s quite the mixed bag.
The main headliners are Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs. Beyond that, though, there are sets from Lana Del Rey, Nelly (celebrating 25 years of his album Country Grammar), Goo Goo Dolls, T-Pain, Creed, and Backstreet Boys, as well as more traditionally country-aligned artists like Brothers Osbourne, Sturgill Simpson, Shaboozey, Midland, and Scotty McCreery.
This year’s festival runs from April 25 to 27, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Festival passes go on sale starting September 13 at 11 a.m. PT via the festival website.

We’ve been spoiled in 2024. As we previously outlined in our list of the year’s best albums so far, we’ve been treated to new albums from folks like Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Vampire Weekend, Dua Lipa, Rapsody, and many more.
What’s wild is that there’s still so much to look forward to in the year’s closing months. Cardi B insists her long-awaited second album is dropping before 2025. Post Malone will complete his country pivot on F-1 Trillion. Sabrina Carpenter is set to continue her run as the year’s biggest breakout star with an LP of her own.
Ultimately, there’s something coming for everybody soon, so check out the most anticipated albums of the rest of 2024 below.
ASAP Rocky — Don’t Be Dumb (August 30)
Rocky has kept busy over the past few years with singles and collaborations, but as far as albums, fans have been waiting for a new one since 2018’s Testing. At long last, though, Don’t Be Dumb is set to land this summer and it’s set to include the 2023 single “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n).”
Beabadoobee — This Is How Tomorrow Moves (August 9)
Something major happened between past Uproxx cover star Beabadoobee’s latest album (2022’s Beatopia) and her upcoming LP (This Is How Tomorrow Moves): She opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour. So, Swiftie eyes will be on Bea’s next one and there’s a lot to enjoy, including “Take A Bite,” “Coming Home,” and “Ever Seen.”
Big Sean — Better Me Than You (August)
It’s been nearly four years since Detroit 2, the latest album from Big Sean. He’s on his way back, though, with Better Me Than You, and if his just-announced new management deal is any indication, he’s looking to shake things up this time around.
Cardi B
Cardi has found herself on lists of most-anticipated albums for the past few years as fans patiently (very, very patiently) await the follow-up to 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy. Cardi had a disappointing dispatch on that front a few months ago, though, when she said she’d be “relaxing this year.” Later, though, she reversed course and promised that her next album, which has yet to be officially announced, is indeed coming in 2024.
There’s speculation that Eusexua is the title of Twigs’ upcoming album, and at the very least, it seems to be the name of a new song, as Vogue relays. The publication also described the song as having a “driving bassline” and Twigs called the upcoming project “a love letter to how dance music makes me feel,” while not specifically saying the album itself is dance music.
Halsey
Halsey is back (even if she’s not necessarily feeling awesome about it at the moment), as she had an album on the way, a project that comes after/amid a tough journey: Halsey recently said of the project, “When I started writing it, I thought it might be the last album I ever got the chance to make.” So far, we’ve heard “Lucky,” a Britney Spears- and Monica-sampling that sounds a lot more uplifting than the tone of everything before this sentence.
J Balvin — Rayo (August 9)
After releasing an album every year from 2018 to 2021, J Balvin fans have found themselves in a rare position: Amid an extended wait for a new album. Their suffering is about to end, though, as Rayo drops in a few days and it features the thumping SAIKO collaboration “Gaga.”
Jamie xx — In Waves (September 20)
Where’s that new album from The xx? They’ve teased new music a handful of times (here, here, here) in recent years, but we’re still waiting for their first new LP since 2017’s I See You. The silver lining is that Jamie xx has remained active in his solo endeavors, and his upcoming album In Waves (his first since 2015’s In Colour) features collaborations with Robyn and The Avalanches.
Del Rey confirmed this one herself, saying at a pre-Grammys event in January, “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack [Antonoff] has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” She also indicated the project is called Lasso and at the time, it was expected to drop in September, although an official release date has yet to be revealed.
Latto — Sugar Honey Iced Tea
In June, Latto threw a big Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta, where she announced the title of her upcoming project, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Given the prevalence of rap beef these days, some took the title as a dig at Ice Spice. Whatever the case, there’s no tracklist yet, but perhaps some of Latto’s post-777 singles will make the cut, like her 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor.”
MJ Lenderman — Manning Fireworks (September 6)
MJ Lenderman has a bit of a double-life situation going on right now: He’s a member of successful indie rockers Wednesday while also earning acclaim for his solo material. Some considered his 2022 album Boat Songs to be one of the year’s best releases, and now he’s prepping Manning Fireworks, which brings his two musical worlds together as Wednesday bandmate Karly Hartzman has a feature on the album.
Nilüfer Yanya — My Method Actor (September 13)
Yanya has become a quick favorite in the indie world over the past half-decade, and for her third album, she’s drawing conceptual inspiration from the world of film. She previously described method acting as “a bit like being a musician,” continuing, “When you’re performing, you’re still trying to invoke the energy and emotion of when you first wrote it, in that moment. It definitely feels like you’re having to recreate or step into that headspace.”
Post Malone — F-1 Trillion (August 16)
Posty just follows his heart. He started in hip-hop, ventured more into pop territory, and now he’s in his country era. It’s off to a cracking start, too, as he landed a No. 1 single by teaming with Morgan Wallen for “I Had Some Help.” Indeed, he had some help making his debut country album F-1 Trillion, as it also features Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and many other country favorites.
Sabrina Carpenter — Short N’ Sweet (August 23)
It’s hard to argue against Carpenter’s “Espresso” as this year’s song of the summer (although tunes from Kendrick Lamar and some others have cases, too). Carpenter has quickly become one of music’s biggest stars thanks to her down-to-earth personality and undeniably delightful songs, and there’s sure to be plenty of both on Short N’ Sweet.
Suki Waterhouse — Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin (September 13)
Toro Y Moi has done a bit of everything in his varied music career. It remains to be seen exactly what his next album, Hole Erth, will sound like, but he goes with a blend of alternative and hip-hop on “Tuesday” and honors Broken Social Scene on the dreamy “Heaven.” So, per usual, we’ll have to wait and see what Toro Y Moi does next.
The Weeknd
For well over two years now, The Weeknd has been teasing a trilogy of albums that features After Hours and Dawn FM. It’s still unclear when this arc of The Weeknd’s career will be resolved, but it appears to be soon: He unveiled a teaser video in July that strongly hints a new album is on the horizon, seemingly one about new life or rebirth. Both of the preceding projects produced hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Take My Breath,” so look forward to more bangers.
After amassing a staggering 40 million views on Instagram reels with a tantalizing teaser, GRAMMY-nominated artists Quavo and Lana Del Rey release their highly-anticipated new song “Tough” today via Capitol/Interscope/Polydor. Directed by Wyatt Spain Winfrey, the video for ‘Tough’ is a mesmerizing fusion that allows both superstars to fearlessly explore each other’s musical realms, showcasing their indomitable spirit. Set in a rural backdrop, Quavo and Lana are intrepid companions, undaunted by life’s trials. On one end, Quavo brandishes his shotgun while Lana carries her guitar, symbolizing their unwavering strength despite their contrasting origins.
“Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots/Like the blue-collar, red-dirt attitude/Like a .38 made out of brass/Tough like the stuff on your grandpa’s glass,” the country-trap hook goes.
Following the release of the teaser of “Tough,” the clip enjoyed various viral moments and was picked up by numerous publications, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, Spin, Hypebeast, and more. Quavo and Lana added more fuel to the conversation when they performed the song together at the singer’s headlining performance at Fenway Park in Boston. The teased reel posted on Instagram became the most viewed reel of all time for Quavo, while that became the second largest for Lana.
Today (July 3), Lana Del Rey linked up with Quavo to drop “Tough,” a new collaborative single. Del Rey — who is best known for ethereal, Americana-inspired music that typically has little to do with rap — doesn’t exactly live and breathe hip-hop. At least, that’s what you might believe if you haven’t been paying attention.
Yes, she usually collaborates with artists like Taylor Swift and Father John Misty, but the truth is that hip-hop has been an undercurrent of Del Rey’s career since pretty much the very start. To drive that point home, let’s go through a few highlights that illustrate Del Rey’s long-running connection to hip-hop.
2012 — “National Anthem”
The world met Del Rey on her debut major-label album, 2012’s Born To Die. The project spawned a number of singles, the most relevant one here being “National Anthem”: In the video, she plays Marilyn Monroe and Jacqueline Kennedy, while she recruited ASAP Rocky to portray John F. Kennedy.
2015 — “Art Deco”
It was rumored that this song was about Azealia Banks, but Del Rey herself shut that narrative down, saying in an interview, “Definitely not. I have no idea where people got that from. I just don’t know what the correlation is. That song is actually about a group of teenagers who go out every night.”
That didn’t stop the two from getting into a Twitter spat in 2018, though, during which Del Rey showed her teeth: She invited Banks to “pull up” and declared, “I won’t not f*ck you the f*ck up.”
2017 — ASAP Rocky
Del Rey reunited with her “National Anthem” co-star on a couple of occasions in 2017: Rocky featured on “Summer Bummer” (as did Playboi Carti) and “Groupie Love” from the Lust For Life album.
2021 — Chemtrails Over The Country Club
When Del Rey revealed the album’s cover in 2021, she received some push-back over the apparent lack of racial variety among the people featured in the art. In response, she wrote in part on social media, “My best friends are rappers, my boyfriends have been rappers…. My dearest friends have been from all over the place, so before you make comments again about a WOC/POC issue, I’m not the one storming the capital, I’m literally changing the world by putting my life and thoughts and love out there on the table 24 seven. Respect it.”
(Per Harper’s Bazaar, Del Rey’s dating history includes G-Eazy; He’s the only rapper listed, but perhaps Del Rey has had some other relationships go under the radar.)
2021 — Migos
Del Rey manifested her Quavo collab in 2021 when she named Migos as the artist she’d most like to work with, saying, “I love them. Everything they do. There was kind of like a new revolution of sound 11 years ago in the singer-songwriter community, which I loved seeing. And then with Migos, I think they kicked off a new super fun, super autobiographical, completely different style of rap. I love them.”
Lana got in a good hang with Sexyy Red at this year’s Hangout Festival: The two made some waves online with their joint twerk session.
2024 — Quavo
Del Rey and Quavo were at the center of some dating rumors a few months ago, but Quavo explained, “We having hits,” ultimately teeing up their new song and bringing this timeline to an end.
Lana Del Rey is returning to the realm of hip-hop as she joins ATL superstarQuavo for “Tough”. This is their first-ever collaboration, and it marks the most recent occasion in which the vocalist is working with a rapper. The last time the New York City native teamed up with one came back in 2017 with Lust For Life. Lana could be heard with A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti on that project, but she has strayed away from that sound for a while now. However, that all changes with Quavo on “Tough”, although this one has a country twang to it.
According to Pitchfork, this has a possibility of landing on her forthcoming 10th album, Lasso. The tape is expected to be released sometime this September; however, no official release date is known. On “Tough”, Quavo and Lana Del Rey are expressing how tough life and love can be at times. But if you willing to stay strong and push through, both will richly reward you. It seems that each artist is melodically crooning about their relationship together and it is quite beautiful, frankly. Quavo’s auto-tuned voice mixed with Lana’s smooth and breathy delivery are a nice combination. Furthermore, the instrumental is not overdone and features dirty trap drums and country guitars.
Come on, take a ride with me Like the 808s beatin’ in the trunk in Atlanta, it was tough It was kinda hard for me Crawlin’ through the mud, I couldn’t find love, then we came up Look at what we are, baby Standin’ through the storm, still shinin’ like a diamond in the rough
In 2021, Lana Del Rey named Migos as the artist she’d most like to collaborate with, saying, “I love them. Everything they do. There was kind of like a new revolution of sound 11 years ago in the singer-songwriter community, which I loved seeing. And then with Migos, I think they kicked off a new super fun, super autobiographical, completely different style of rap. I love them.”
Now, that has come true as much as is possible given the current state of Migos: Del Rey teams up with Quavo on their new collab, “Tough.”
The track takes Del Rey’s ethereal, vintage-inspired sound and mixes it with a hip-hop flair. On the track, the two discuss how strong and resilient they are, like on the chorus: “Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots / Like the blue-collar, red-dirt attitude / Like a .38 made out of brass / Tough like the stuff in your grandpa’s glass.”
The two also sparked dating rumors earlier this year, and Quavo explained at the time, “We having hits,” an apparent tease of the collab that has now been realized.
Lana Del Rey has a reputation for being a serene presence. Her music is slow, meditative, and chilled-out. It’s a core principle of her aesthetic. That being said, things went awry between the singer and a reporter on Friday, June 7. Del Rey was walking around Paris on her day off when a group of people approached her with their phones. The singer accused the people of following her, and proceeded to grab at one of their phones during the exchange.
TMZ obtained the video footage of Lana Del Rey confronting the unidentified people. The outlet notes that it’s unclear whether they are merely fans or photojournalists trying to grab footage of the singer. Either way, she didn’t appreciate being hounded. The video sees her turn around yell at the group in question. “You followed me with my family,” she tells one of them. “Get away from me! Don’t follow me!” Del Rey proceeds to explain that she doesn’t get many days off, and that she desperately wanted time to herself before resuming her grueling schedule. The frustration didn’t subside, however, as the cult icon tried to snatch a phone out of one of the people’s hands.
Lana Del Rey Tried To Maintain Peace On Her Day Off
Lana Del Rey has had a contentious relationship with people trying to pry into her personal life. The music video for her 2015 single “High on the Beach” saw her take a gun and literally shoot down a plane full of paparazzi journalist trying to get a photo of her. She’s been adamant in trying to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, not only to preserve the allure of her persona but for her own comfort. She said as much during a 2015 interview with NME.
“I think my two big goals with work are to make great records, and stay out of the press for the wrong reasons,” she told the outlet. “My family was traditional, and some of my extended family used to say a gentleman is only in the paper two times in his life. When he’s born and when he dies. Obviously, it’s a little too late for me when it comes to that sentiment.”
Sexyy Red spent much of her breakout 2023 collaborating with the kinds of artists you’d expect. She crossed paths with Chief Keef, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Sukihana, Juicy J, and more. But this year she’s crossing paths with some unexpected friends and popping up in unexpected places. Perhaps the most inexplicable instance came a few weeks ago. She was a surprise on-stage guest alongside country singer Zach Bryan, who had a pretty major breakthrough 2023 as well. Now she’s once again going viral for hanging out with somebody you wouldn’t expect, pop singer Lana Del Rey.
The two were both present at Hangout Festival over the weekend where they caught up backstage. A short video of the pair is now making the rounds online as fans react to the unexpected crossover. Even more hilarious is that in the video they both seemingly instinctively show off their twerking skills while dancing together. “when the teacher pairs you with a random partner but y’all end up kii’ing anyways” one fan on Twitter jokes. “I’m crying, Lana just living her life, hanging out with EVERYBODY. Went from Billie Eilish to Camila Cabello to Benson Boone to now Sexyy Red,” another reply reads. Check out the video of the unexpected crossover below.
This isn’t the only time recently that Lana Del Rey has crossed paths with a surprising rapper. Earlier this month she and former Migos rapper Quavo were spotted together. Shortly after, Quavo shared a snippet of new music that the pair had been working on to tease fans. The song has yet to materialize with an official release. Quavo just got out of a pretty heated beef with Chris Brown which was going on in tandem with Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s spat.
What do you think of Sexyy Red and Lana Del Rey showing off their twerking skills together? Do you think the two could ever successfully collaborate on a song together? Let us know in the comment section below.
