Last month, Kid Cudi previewed a new song called “Flex” on TikTok and tweeted a pre-save link to it. Though many fans were excited, it seems more were disapproving. “You guys are my fans, ur my family!!!” Cudi wrote in a tweet hours after. “I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!! [smiley emoji, peace sign emoji, hearts emoji].”
The highly anticipated date of June 2 is now here, and the rapper delivered. “Porsche Topless” is out today. It’s a nearly three-minute celebratory anthem about being grateful: “While I’m geeked I can hardly speak / Thank them take photo as I lean / What could be next in my dream / Blessing from my God,” he raps.
This is only the beginning. In February, he prepared his fans for a big year. “Album this Fall. First singles this summer. The new chapter has begun… Ur not prepared man. We’ve reached a new level,” he tweeted. About what he was looking forward to, he wrote in another tweet, “Man, so much. My clothing line, directing my first movie that im starring in from a script I wrote, couple movies coming out, a lil tv, Im seriously the most hyped about it all.” He also added that a world tour is coming next year.
“You guys are my fans, ur my family!!! I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!! [smiley emoji, peace sign emoji, hearts emoji],” Cudi tweeted.
You guys are my fans, ur my family!!! I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!!
Cudi also updated his Twitter bio, “New vibes comin JUNE 2ND.”
In February, the multi-hyphenate creative shared his plans for the remainder of the year on Twitter: “Album this Fall. First singles this summer. The new chapter has begun… Ur not prepared man. We’ve reached a new level.” One person wished for a tour, and Cudi replied, “World tour next year. Count on it [winking emoji].” Cudi replied to another person asking what he’s excited about in 2023, “Man, so much. My clothing line, directing my first movie that I’m starring in from a script I wrote, couple movies coming out, a lil tv, Im seriously the most hyped about it all.”
Deadline reported last month that Cudi will star in and co-produce a Sony Pictures’ “action horror-comedy” titled Hell Naw that Sam Levinson (Euphoria, The Idol) will produce.
“The plot is being kept under wraps, but we do know the film is set during Paris Fashion Week and there will be zombies,” Deadline wrote at the time.
Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) provided a statement at the time:
“This movie has been five years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was seven years old. The first horror movies I ever saw were Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened. I’ve been wanting to get into this world creating my own stories for a long time, and now, and after years of working it out in my head, it’s finally happening. Sam, The Lucas Brothers and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy. You will laugh, oh yes you will, but the horror aspect of this movie will really be something to see. You will be shook. I promise. Y’all know I don’t play around.”
With all that going on, it’s no wonder Cudi felt emboldened to name a song “Flex.”
On May 19, Kid Cudi shared a brief snippet of his upcoming single, “Flex”. It comes during a busy time for Cudi, who has also teased the release of a new album. Furthermore, the musician is upping his acting game, with the impending release of Crater on Disney+. Elsewhere, Cudi is preparing to reprise the role of porn star Jackson Hole in MaXXXine, the final film in Ti West’s X trilogy.
The clip Cudi released from “Flex” was genuinely bizarre, with a mishmash of visuals over a heavy beat and repetition of the word “Flex”. If we were to describe the clip, the best analogy would be “something you’d hear in a comedy film to indicate that the person performing was untalented.” Furthermore, Fans weren’t stoked on the whole, despite Cudi sharing multiple tweets of people pre-ordering the single.
Having seen the backlash, Cudi took to Twitter to assure fans that they would not be subjected to “Flex” anytime soon. “You guys are my fans, ur my family!!! I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!! ,” Cudi tweeted late on May 19, just hours after the clip had been made public. Clearly, Cudi had seen enough to convince him that “Flex” wasn’t going to be the hit he was hoping for with fans. This was also the opposite reaction of Coi Leray, who doubled down after backlash to a new song snippet.
Furthermore, the move went over well with fans. “Artists who listen >>>” replied streamer and crypto personality Ladidai. However, some fans pointed to the recent beef with Playboi Carti as a source of a new release. “Just drop solo solo [sic] pt 4. Force the vampire to clear it. That’s the song the fans truly want,” one person tweeted. Carti reportedly won’t clear a feature, which has potentially delayed the release of Cudi’s Solo Dolo IV. However, Cudi has not indicated what “Flex” will be replaced with, only that it will be a “different single”. Furthermore, what are you hoping Cudi drops? Let us know in the comments. Kid Cudi has posted a new series of 70s-inspired selfies on Instagram. The rapper and actor looks dapper in the new photos, rocking a sky blue suit. It would make sense if Cudi’s look in the pictures looks familiar to you. The selfies are, in fact, a throwback. In the caption of the Instagram post, Cudi explains that they are behind the scenes photos from the 2022 film X. The actor played a role in the film and produced it, as well. It revolves around a group of young adults in the 70s that rent a farmhouse to film an adult movie.
Throwback selfies aren’t the only thing Kid Cudi has been posting recently. In fact, the rapper has some new music on the way, as well. Cudi teased fans for the last week or so. He posted a photo that showed his silhouette with the date June 2nd in the caption. The cryptic post had fans asking questions about what it could be. He then posted what appears to be a screenshot from a music video showing him crowd surfing and a behind the scenes shot in a makeup chair. Now, we know that Cudi will be dropping “The Chosen One” on June 2nd. Not much information is available beyond that, but the rapper confirmed the news with a pre-save link on his social media.
Kid Cudi’s burgeoning acting career just keeps on growing. The multi-hyphenate has been appearing in quite a few movies recently. This should come as no surprise to Cudi fans as he recently discussed wanting to put music on the back burner for a while. In an interview with Zane Lowe at Apple Music, he said, “I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi.” Of course, just months later, the actor posted on Twitter about an apparent new album. “Ur not prepared man,” he said. “We’ve reached a new level.” So, while new music seems to be coming in the very near future, Kid Cudi is not letting up on acting in the meantime.
Kid Cudi is set to produce a new film titledHell Naw under his production company, Mad Solar. Joining him as a producer is Sam Levinson, known for his work on the popular series “Euphoria.” This collaboration marks their second time working together as producers, with their previous collaboration being on Ti West’s film X, in which Cudi also had a role. Cudi expressed his excitement about the project, stating that himself, Sam Levinson, and the Lucas Brothers have crafted a story that will appeal to fans of horror and comedy. He promises that the film will deliver both laughter and a truly terrifying horror experience that will leave viewers shaken.
Jamie Foxx has received an outpouring of love and support from friends and fans over the last few days. This includes people like Tyler, The Creator and Kid Cudi, who expressed sympathy as he remains hospitalized for an undisclosed medical emergency. The multi-talented entertainer has reportedly been in the hospital for a month. Yesterday, it was reported that, while his family hopes for the best, they are preparing for the worst. He was in Atlanta filming for Netflix’s Back in Action movie at the time of his hospitalization.
According to a source close to Foxx, he needs all the prayers and well-wishes his fans can muster at this difficult time. Kid Cudi took to Twitter to express his support for Foxx. Tyler, The Creator shared a clip of Foxx performing on his Instagram Story along with a message of love and some heart emojis. The entertainment industry has been vocal about their support for Foxx as he navigates this challenging time. Amid worrying and confusing reports, love for the actor has been at an all-time high.
Confusing Reports About Foxx’s Health Status
The subject of Jamie Foxx’s current health is a confusing one. Last month, the actor was hospitalized for a still-undisclosed “medical complication.” Though Foxx’s representatives and family members assured the public that he was in stable, recovering condition, fans remained concerned. Close friends of the actor also urged fans to pray for his recovery. However, Foxx recently posted on Instagram for the first time since his hospitalization. While this brought some relief, sources close to Foxx revealed that he was still in the same condition as before.
Earlier this week, it was reported to People Magazine that the actor’s condition had stabilized and that he is no longer in a life-threatening situation. Still, he remains in the hospital. The reports also said that doctors were conducting more tests to ensure that he was okay before discharging him. Apparently, once Foxx is discharged, he has been advised to keep his stress levels down. This indicated that he may need additional time to recover at home. Then, yesterday’s reports indicated that his family expects that the worst may happen. It is unclear which reports are to be believed. Stay tuned to HNHH for the latest updates on Foxx’s condition.
Kid Cudi is a staple of the rap game and it’s no debate. From creating one of the best album series to date with Man On The Moon to doing collab albums with one of the greats, the dude’s resume is stacked. Moreover, Cudi has ushered in so many new waves and sounds when it comes to making music. Nobody belts out a good hum like Kid Cudi. Not only that, Cudder has influenced a ton of your favorite artists today.
Artists such as Playboi Carti (still need Pissy Pamper), Schoolboy Q, and Travis Scott have sung Kid Cudi’s praises musically. Many have attested that his influence is directly in their music. The vulnerability and honesty within Cud’s discography are what draw many to his music to this day. Schoolboy Q said in an interview that it was Kid Cudi that “broke the barrier for weird people like me.” Not only that, a lot of artists have been influenced by the Indicud rhymer that they’ve even made songs with him.
Kid Cudi Might Be Down For A Travis Scott Collab Tape
Furthermore, Kid Cudi’s feature run is one of the elites (go listen to “Remote Control Part 2”). The Cleveland native’s influence runs deep throughout the rap game. From the Trippie Redds of the world to the Travis Scott’s there’s always a piece of Kid Cudi somewhere. Recently, Cudder has been busy acting, doing shows, and even writing an autobiography. However, it appears the rap icon will be adding more to his already full plate.
On stage at a show, Kid Cudi asked the fans if they were still down for a collaboration tape with Travis Scott. He asked, “How bad do y’all want The Scotts album?” Cudi finished his statement with a simple, “Maybe, maybe.” While the announcement isn’t fully a confirmed yes, it’s still exciting to know the project might still be on the table. The last time these two got together was during heat of the pandemic with there single “The Scotts.” After three years, Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi) is entertaining the idea of cooking up with La Flame once more. Let us know what you think of the possible The Scotts album dropping below!
Kid Cudi is about as accomplished as they come in terms of rapper/actors. In addition to an active and beloved music career, he regularly pops up in high-profile shows and movies, like Westworld, Don’t Look Up, and his own Entergalactic. Now, he’s getting back in the saddle with a new movie project.
Deadline reports that Cudi is set to star in (and co-produce) Hell Naw, Sony Pictures’ “action horror-comedy” produced by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. Keith and Kenny Lucas, aka The Lucas Brothers, are writing the script. Of the movie, Deadline notes, “The plot is being kept under wraps, but we do know the film is set during Paris Fashion Week and there will be zombies.”
Cudi says of the project, “This movie has been five years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old, the first horror movies I ever saw were Night Of The Living Dead and Evil Dead. Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, is a rapper and actor from Cleveland, Ohio. The overwhelming success of his 2008 single, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” was the catalyst for his rise to fame. The song was featured on his debut album, Man On the Moon: The End of the Day. It has since gone 5x platinum. Since then, he has released six studio albums, many of which explore topics related to mental health. He has also made a number of noteworthy appearances in film and TV, including in Ti West’s hit horror film X and the HBO series How to Make It in America. Cudi’s distinctive style and reflective songs have brought him critical praise and a devoted following.
Cudi And Levinson, Together Again
Kid Cudi’s new film will be called Hell Naw. Cudi will produce the film through his production company, Mad Solar. Sam Levinson, of Euphoria fame, will be producing alongside the actor. The two previously worked as producers together on Ti West’s X and Pearl, the former of which Cudi also starred in. The Lucas Brothers are writing the new film. They made their writing debut in 2021 with Judas and The Black Messiah. “Sam, The Lucas Bros and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy,” Cudi said of the project. “You will laugh, oh yes you will, but the horror aspect of this movie will really be something to see. You will be shook. I promise.”
In the announcement of the film Cudi revealed that the film will “f*ck you up.” “This movie has been 5 years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will fuck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old,” he said. “The first horror movies I ever saw were Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened.” Cudi clearly does love horror movies, at least based on his involvement with X and Pearl. What this means for the future of his music career is unclear. So, no matter what path he takes, Cudi will likely find future success. What do you think of the actor’s new movie? Are you excited to see it? Sound off in the comments!
Joint hip-hop albums are much more common than they are in other genres. For example, rapper Future has done quite a few collaborative projects. Hip-hop is a collaborative genre, so these records aren’t uncommon. Arguably, joint albums have often superseded an artist standing alone. Here, we’re looking at some of rap’s best collisions in the studio.
Super Slimey showcases two of the most influential trap artists of all time. Future and Young Thug have both inspired later generations of rappers and, before doing this project, already cemented themselves as some of the all-time greats. Their joint work wasn’t a groundbreaking record, nor was it either of their best work. Nevertheless, seeing (or hearing) these two artists, who have produced so many iconic songs together, put out a full-length project was excellent.
Lil Baby and Gunna were a match made in heaven, and that shows on Drip Harder. The collaborative project has these two arguably in their best shape. Neither has produced a solo album quite as good as this one. Perhaps they’re better together than they are apart. There are a lot of excellent tracks on this, such as “Belly,” “Never Recover,” “Drip Too Hard,” and “Business is Business.”
5. What A Time To Be Alive – Future & Drake (2015)
What A Time To Be Alive features two of the most iconic rappers from this age. Many consider Drake the greatest rapper working right now, and there’s no way to tell the story of hip-hop without including a heavy dose of Future. These artists have linked up for many great songs, but their joint album was a true work of art. Even eight years later, the project still stands up in their vast discographies. It’s a short album with only 11 tracks. However, what they sacrificed in length, they more than made up for with quality. There’s hardly a skip on the entire project.
4. Kids See Ghosts – Kanye West & Kid Cudi (2018)
In 2018, it was a big year for joint hip-hop albums. Several other entries on this list were put out that year, but the best and most interesting one was Kanye West (now known simply as Ye) and Kid Cudi’s Kids See Ghosts. This project or a sequel couldn’t happen today due to the conflict between the artists and the never-ending controversy with Ye. However, it stands as one of the most unique collaborations in hip-hop history.
It’s full of excellent songs despite only featuring seven tracks. They’re all unique and find a way to stand out. While both of these artists have legendary discographies, and it’s easy to forget they worked together, this album is still worth revisiting today. It’s not either of their best works, but it is each artist’s most distinctive.
3. Watch the Throne – Kanye West & Jay-Z (2011)
Watch the Throne is one of the earlier examples of a joint album between hip-hop artists. While they existed much earlier than 2011, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s crossover helped set the standard and bring collaborative records into the mainstream. While it’s not Jay-Z’s album of the same name, it is the “blueprint” for how joint hip-hop albums should work. These two worked in perfect tandem and produced iconic songs. Hip-hop would not be the same today if Jay and Ye didn’t decide to come together for one of the best albums of the 21st century. For that alone, it’s one of the best joint hip-hop albums ever.
2. Pluto x Baby Pluto– Future & Lil Uzi Vert (2020)
Understandably, 2020 was a pretty down year for music and the arts. However, it produced some incredible albums like folklore from Taylor Swift and The Weeknd’s After Hours. It also gave music fans an incredible joint album from Future and Lil Uzi Vert. These two came together forPluto x Baby Pluto, a seminal work for collaborations.
It’s longer than many projects on this list, but it doesn’t suffer for it. All 16 tracks fare well, with songs like “Off Dat,” “That’s It,” “Plastic,” and “Bought A Bad B****” standing out. What’s even better is that the deluxe version adds a few more songs and two great collaborative tracks (“Patek” and “Over Your Head”) released long before this record.
1. Without Warning – 21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin’ (2017)
A list of the best collaborative albums in hip-hop cannot exclude 2017’s Without Warning. The surprise project released in late October is one of the best from the entire year. It features songs that people still frequently listen to today. For Offset, this is easily his best work. It could very well be 21 Savage’s, too.
Metro Boomin’ is arguably the best producer in the industry today, and he has a few albums of his own. This genuinely might be his best. The members of Migos have often had a tough time venturing into projects outside the group, but this is excellent work from Offset. 21 Savage, a frequent collaborator with Metro Boomin’, is as good as ever here, too.
While a lot of attention has been lavished on Rolling Loud as the premiere hip-hop-oriented festival (and rightly so), Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash, which takes place annually in the Chicago area, is quickly carving out a chunk of that regard for itself. It probably helps that Lyrical Lemonade is the brainchild of Cole Bennett and has produced music videos for just about every notable name in rap right now (as well as Jack Black, whose “Peaches” song from The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an inescapable earworm).
So it makes sense that the 2023 lineup for Summer Smash includes a great many of those notable names, including headliners Future, Kid Cudi, and Playboi Cart, along with “a very special Chicago guest” which probably means Chance The Rapper (or a hologram of Juice WRLD, you never know. As long as it ain’t Kanye). Meanwhile, the three-day festival — which takes place at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL on June 23-25 — also includes heavy hitters like Vince Staples, Ice Spice, GloRilla, Freddie Gibbs, Ski Mask The Slump God, G Herbo, Cordae, Juicy J, Trippie Redd, Lucki, Central Cee, Lil Skies, and Rico Nasty, and that’s just the top line of each of the three days.
